Episode 5.04 of Castle will be called "Swan Song."
It features a band called "Holy Shemp" in which it's guitar player, James Swan is murdered. It also involves a cult called the Church of Worldly Enlightenment.
Damnit anonymous commenter you've got me all worried! Nooooo
If they kill the r/ship that quickly I will have to have a little cry... except they won't because of all Marlowe's promises about this being a 'fun' 'relationshippy' 'non-angsty' season. So no. No no no no I refuse to believe that it might even possibly be the end of the castle/beckett thing. Have I got carried away? I've got carried away. Never mind me...
Marlowe NEVER said the season would be non-angsty, which means no angst. He said he was bringing the fun back, but that doesn't mean we won't see some conflict/angst arise.
I am afraid some of you will call him a liar again when the obvious happens because no show on tv is without drama and conflict or angst.
Stop setting yourselves up for disappointment. Give the show a chance to tell its story before freaking out. It's episode 4. I seriously doubt they break up 4 episodes in. Geez.
I don't watch Castle expecting to just laugh and swoon. I want more from it and it usually delivers the fun and drama and angst and romance with a nice balance. I prefer seasons 3 and 4 over the amazing 1 and 2. This show gets better and better.
Marlowe has NEVER lied to me and for those who say he has I would advise you to rewatch the show and reread his articles and you would see that it wasn't him lying but your own assumptions and expectations that misled you.
Take interviews and spoilers with a grain of salt. They are teases done to entice interests and discussions.
I think that angst plays a critical part in how this story has and is unfolding. If you take a closer look it's actually the angst that has led to the biggest movements in the Caskett relationship. Quite simply this show would not be where it's at today without the angst to balance out the fluffy fun stuff.
I've never felt that Andrew Marlowe has lied to me either. A lot of Season 4's anger from the fans seemed to be born out of the fact that at the time (before "Always") they wanted Caskett together now and Andrew Marlowe wasn't giving them what they wanted, hence why toys were being chucked around. I guess some people became so focussed on the Caskett relationship that they overlooked the story Andrew Marlowe was trying to tell (and what an incredible story it has been so far). From my point of view as soon as I learned that Season 4 was going to have a "secrets" theme, I knew things would be resolved at the end of the season (and they were resolved in the best way possible). Some of the comments made throughout Season 4 were priceless, specifically those who called Jennifer Beals a bitch (attacking the actor? Really?) and the ones calling our favourite mystery writer "Dick Castle" in the Discussion Post for The Limey. I guess you could say that comments like these are either heavily arrogant or actually born out of how much people care passionately about this show.
I will admit that I was drawn to this show by the hilarious banter (that in no way had disappeared from Season 4 like so many people claimed) between the cast, but some of my favourite episodes are actually the ones that involve a lot of angst (and most have either references or directly involve the Johanna Beckett murder case). Those are: A Chill Runs Through Her Veins, Sucker Punch, Tick, Tick and Boom!, 3XK, Knockdown, Setup and Countdown, Knockout, Rise, Cops and Robbers, Kill Shot and Always.
I'm looking forward to Season 5. There's still a lot of water to flow under the bridge before this show runs dry. Getting Rick and Kate together now SHOULD NOT be seen as the beginning of the end of this show, but rather a new beginning and a whole new chapter to explore. The weeks are flying by so fast and Season 5 will be upon us before we know it!
Don't worry, I'm not one of those people who flakes out and gets mad at Marlowe and hates it when everything doesn't happen PERFECTLY as we;d like it. I stuck through the end of s4 and trusted the writers to fix the situation deftly, and they definitely did. However, he kind of DID say non-angsty... he said 'moving away' from all the heavy stuff, which means we might not have angst for a little while after the premiere, which would be nice. Obv I don't expect it to be a honeymoon period forever... that would be boring... but I certainly don't believe MArlowe would jump right in and try to break them up straight away. I was mostly just having a rant in that comment :P
This is Anon 1.57 PM. Fair enough LOT. The vibes I'm picking up are ones of them wanting to make sure these two last together. Even Nathan's in on it. He recently said that the biggest mistake Moonlighting made was that they forced the two leads apart directly after they'd finally hooked up and that ruined the show. They don't want to do that with Rick and Kate and as far as I'm concerned they simply cannot pull these two apart from now on as that would most likely cause the death of this show (and I think the creators of this show know it too). Also, Andrew Marlowe has always said that aside from the Police Procedural elements of this show it is also intended to be a great love story. It is true that he dragged them both through the mud to get them to this point, but both characters have become better for it and are in a far better place to begin a relationship than they've ever been before. I don't expect things to be Roses and Rainbows, but they certainly won't do anything to them from now on that causes a break up. There will be things that challenge their relationship (especially angst), but as always they will come out of the other side better people and this will actually help make their relationship stronger. Like I said in my last post, the episodes with the most angst have actually led to the biggest movements in the relationship between these two. Angst has had the effect of forcing them to stop hiding behind their feelings, especially in the Season Finale of Season 4, so it needs to be there and has its place in this relationship. I'm sure they will pull it right back once the conspirators behind the Johanna Beckett murder are caught and brought to justice, allowing the more fluffy fun stuff to take over, but I never expect the angst to disappear.
Yes. Good job. As I already said, eps 419-20-21 were the most important ones in the relationship of the 2. It frightened a lot of fans but it was necessary. Now that they are together, problems between them will come from their own ways of living and thinking but ot would be a big mistake to take them apart.
Moving away from the angst does NOT mean the angst will disappear. It is not the same thing as there be absolutely no angst. If anyone takes that to mean we will only get fun, fun, fun, then they are setting themselves up for a major pity party and disappointment down the line.
The angst WILL prop up again and it may be midseason or towards the end of the season, but it will be back.
I can't believe people expect these couples NEVER to face a problem. The best episodes have come from them confronting each other and their feelings.
If you all want Heartbreak Hotel in every episode, go right ahead and laugh away, but I much prefer a balance of Heartbreak Hotels, Cops & Robbers, Rise, Demons, Wrapped In Deaths, Always, and Nikki Heats, and 47 Seconds, Heroes & Villains, Linchpins and Pandoras, Tick! Boom! Setups/Countdowns, Punked, Sucket Punches....
This show rocks no matter what the theme. So sit back and enjoy the ride or get off and turn to Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.
Anons 1.57 and 2.35 here again. It wouldn't surprise me that if some point (and it is inevitable) we get an episode in Season 5 with heavy angst and then a flood of complaints from people adamant that Andrew Marlowe promised us no more angst (which of course is not what he said).
At Paley Fest earlier in the year the Cast and Crew told us that Caskett would go through "a thing" (a bad patch) before things got really, really good. A 12.9 out of 10 according to Nathan and Stana, which was a classic understatement, it was more like 20.9 out of 10! Despite this warning the reactions from people to the bad patch beginning at 47 Seconds and ending at Undead Again were highly venomous and at times comical. From the way I saw/see it, these venomous/comical comments were made by people failing to see the bigger picture of what was going on. This episode arc was designed to force both Rick and Kate to come out of hiding and deal with their feelings with each other, which they did in the best way possible. In a hilarious case of irony, those who claimed after The Limey that Andrew Marlowe had ruined the characters of Rick and Kate were more than likely singing his praises after Always!
One more thought. Andrew Marlowe has promised us enough times that once he got Rick and Kate together (which they are now), he would not pull them apart. The mere fact that Nathan Fillion has said they're in it to win it (Caskett) should be enough to quash any lingering doubts about Andrew Marlowe's intentions, given that people have always perceived him as a Debbie Downer when it comes to the Caskett relationship. Despite this there will always be people who will get flustered over even the tiniest thing that they perceive could mean that Andrew Marlowe will pull them apart. It will always be like this from now on until this show's run finally comes to an end. It seems pretty clear to me that breaking up Caskett at any point from now on will cause the death of this show. Given the fact that Andrew Marlowe has also stated repeatedly that he believes there's so much more story to tell once Caskett are together, there's no way in hell he'll break them apart. That doesn't mean that there won't be challenges for Rick and Kate to overcome, but none of those challenges will cause a break up in their relationship.
Don't read to much into the title. Read the blurb: 'It features a band called "Holy Shemp" in which it's guitar player, James Swan is murdered. It also involves a cult called the Church of Worldly Enlightenment.' It's a reference to the victim's name.
The title is in reference to the singer/victim, but some of these titles have double meanings so it could be the swan song for something, but not Castle/Beckett.
Guess some people just seem bound and determined to look for the dark cloud in every silver lining ... maybe the 'Negative Nancies' are poking their heads up from hibernation
No. Swan song is a Tchaikowsky musical ballet. It announces the death of someone and it's ok cause the victim's name is Swan. There must be a word game with another fact in the ep, but it definitely won't be a Caskett break!
Well thank you for telling me what it means. I'm less confused. And of course caskett won't breakup, they are caskett. Not to mention that AM already said once caskett are together, he won't split them up. They wil be together for good. Of course they will have fights, minor and major but they will get through it. They always do.
This episode sounds like it will have similar themes to the Season 2 episode "Famous Last Words". Don't know why or how people would start assuming that this must mean something bad for Caskett? Andrew Marlowe has repeatedly promised us that once Caskett are together (which they are now) he would not break them up. Breaking them up from this point would effectively kill this show. From what I've heard Andrew Marlowe saying he's always (ha ha) looked forward to the day he could get them together so he could continue telling the story of them in a relationship. I would not get worked up about even the tiniest thing that could be interpreted as a "break up" because as far as I'm concerned they're in it to win it (as Nathan said recently) and there will not be a break up.
Both Nathan and Marlowe have said that the biggest fault in the tv relationship that began the moonlighting curse was that the show runners didn't commit to having the couple stay together. They've both gone on to say that's not what they'll be doing, they've said they're committing to keeping them together. Don't freak out.
I really don't think the title means anything more than the clever twist on the name of the victim. Seriously people, calm down. It doesn't mean anything bad for Caskett- how many times does Marlowe say that he won't break them up for people to get it? I'm a huge fan, but not everything needs to b over- analyzed. Remember Pandora? Everyone thought it was going to be a big reveal of the JB case, but it was exactly what we saw in the sneak peaks- just a part of the episode. Just try to be patient (i know it's very difficult) and wait for the episode to air! :)
not to mention another show on a castle fan website, but this title right away reminded me of the show House lol. however i can't wait for the new season on castle so excited!
I think the return of jealous Beckett is on horizon. I love jealous Beckett, btw. For those of you wanting the fun, fun, fun, fun... here you go!
This is te spoiler from the 2nd episode Secret's Safe With Me, the one Penny Johnson Jerald tweeted had her on the floor rolling in laughter as she read the script and made her husband think she was crazy.
'Castle': 'Prison Break' Alum to Come Between Castle and Beckett (Exclusive)
Jodi Lyn O'Keefe will guest star in the second episode of the season as an entertainment reporter.
Just as Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) were finally going there, a new threat to the emerging couple is poised to emerge on ABC's Castle.
Prison Break's Jodi Lyn O'Keefe has been tapped to guest star on the ABC drama's upcoming fifth season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
O'Keefe will play Kristina Coterra, a sultry and voluptuous entertainment reporter at WHNY who shows more than a professional interest in Castle in the second episode of the season, titled "Cloudy With a Chance of Murder."
Following years of will-they-or-won't-they romantic tension, Beckett was last seen leading her partner in crime to the bedroom following a steamy make-out session in the fourth season finale.
My best guess is Castle will tell someoe the secret of him being in a relationship with Beckett and swearing them to secrecy and Beckett will do the same, also swearing that person to secrecy, and then the hilarity begins. HaHa! My guess is it's Alexis and Lanie and it's going to be a hoot trying to see them keep it a secret and Castle & Beckett pretending not to care that some woman is showing interest in him. HaHa!
Anon 2.20 PM, I guess that with this reporter causing Beckett some jealousy that'll mean all the naysayers will come out of hiding accusing Andrew Marlowe of trying to break them up (Caskett) shortly after getting them together! Given the type of guy Rick was in the past naturally he will always attract attention from a lot of women, but not to worry, we know his heart is set only on Kate Beckett. I think jealous Beckett is funny and I would just love to see her muscle in front of this "new threat" and claim Rick as hers while telling this woman to back off! Jealous Beckett in the past usually tiptoed around her feelings because she wasn't ready to admit them. But given the fact her true feelings are out there now I'd expect to see her far more vocal. I would expect also that by the time this episode airs Rick and Kate will still be trying to keep their relationship a secret, so there's an opportunity for some funny moments of Kate trying to tell this woman to back off without revealing to those she doesn't want to that she's with Rick now!
Just thought I'd state that the "Cloudy, Chance of Murder" is the third episode of the new season. Also, it thought the WHNY name was priceless. Short for whiny?!
The article said Jodi is guest-starring in the second episode, hich is Secret's Safe With Me.
I also think seeing jealous Beckett will be a riot, especially if she and Castle are keeping their relationship a secret. I trust in Marlowe. I always have. He hasn't lied once to me and ive enjoyed everything about this show. Even the bad and ugly moments. Our struggles in life are what helps us find our strengths. Marlowe is really good with evolving his characters, so I expect if jealous Beckett makes another appearance, it's taking her and the ship somewhere like it has from the beginnng of the series. Even her jealousy in Eye of the Beholder and Pandora and Linchpin last season was help shaping her and her relationship with Castle.
I am 95% sure this episode is the one where they have "the office" theme where some people are filming a documentary on the singer of the band and he dies and so now they follow beckett and castle around to finish their documentary it's supposed to be a funny episode
The Swan Song title also implies that it is the end of smthg. What could it be?
ReplyDeleteJames Swan
Delete^^^ best reply. Anon 1:38, I really did just Laugh Out Loud.
DeleteI wish it was the end of Bella Swan instead. :(

Marlowe rocks!!!
In rereading the article, they must have made a typo and meant the 3rd episode. Thanks for pointing that out!
DeleteTerri Edda Miller just confirmed on twitter that the episodes have been switched and were filmed out of order....
DeleteSo episode 2 is Cloudy With A Chance With Murder and epiode 3 is Secret's Safe With Me.
I am 95% sure this episode is the one where they have "the office" theme where some people are filming a documentary on the singer of the band and he dies and so now they follow beckett and castle around to finish their documentary it's supposed to be a funny episode
