ADAM: Creator Andrew W. Marlowe promises there will be an "interesting honeymoon period," during which the new couple will feel each other out about how "real" the relationship is. (We said feel each other out, pervs.) But yes, there will be obstacles — most notably Capt. Gates and that little NYPD rule about partners not being romantically involved.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait for them to try and sneak around the precinct hiding their relationship from the others. But I can't shake the feeling that Captain Gates will be the first person to discover that they are dating in the second episode. Wouldn't that be crazy? We would see the more gentle side of her which I would kinda like.

What is the mayor gonna think about this?! Rick: well he might say congratulations and it's about time and(sees gates glare) ok I'm just gonna stop talking. Kate: (sighs) sir. Gates: don't you sir me. How am I supposed to run a self respecting department when you two are sucking each others faces off?! Kate: sir, my relationship with him hasn't and won't affect the department negatively in anyway. Rick:(whispers) does this mean we can't make out in the breakroom anymore? DeleteAnon 907 here. Oh gosh! LOL U know what i really want to see though? and it might not happen anytime soon but what I want to see is Castle getting real serious and standing up to Gates. Just once wear Gates can finally see where Castle is coming from and him standing up for Beckett and making it clear he is NOT going ANYWHERE any time soon. And what he did as far as the whole smith thing (and lets face it, im sure Gates would be angry if and when she found out what Castle did) was for Kates own good and he do it again in a heart beat. Ending the conversation that she has no idea what this is all really about. :D that be like a slap to the face for Gates and if Kate was there while this happened I love her shocked yet proud face she gives him. Even Espo and Ryans shocked faces yet smiling. :D But that probably wont happen. LOL

And I would be looking forward to espo, Ryan, and especially Kate's face. They just be like that's our boy.Personally I would like to see someone tell gates that she can't just change how everything was when Roy was captain even if she is now. Im annoyed that gates keeps trying to break up the team and I would love if someone on the team or the whole team stand up to her. She can't just keep breaking them up when their is nothing they are doing wrong and it's not affecting their job. But lol I so want to see your theory and maybe we will sometime in the future. I mean Castle punched lockwood for Kate and he was very dangerous and powerful, I'm sure he can stand up to little old gates :)

DeleteIt would be very Castle-sque to have a very public, fake break up in front of Gates so that they can be together in private. They've tried to hide their feelings from each other for ages, it will be fun to watch them trying to hide their feelings and their relationship from everybody else!

DeleteI think the humor might be in that they don't end up acting any different at the precinct than they did before and nobody notices a difference. I can honestly seeing playing out that way.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion - Gates is going to ask Kate to come back, because she knows that Kate is her best detective and she needs her. Then, Kate will "hold all the cards", so to speak, and will agree to come back on the condition that Castle comes back with her. They won't have to tell her about the change in their relationship, just that Castle is a part of the team too and they need him there. And Gates will have to agree if she wants Kate back!

I agree with you. I don't see Kate approaching Gates about coming back, Gates is going to have to come to her. I just don't kate coming to her after being told that she 'wasn't fit to wear the uniform'.
DeleteI'm thinking that perhaps we will see Captain Gates grow a heart (briefly) and allow Rick and Kate back into the Precinct on her terms and no one else's. I like Captain Gates, especially the way they used her in Season 4, like throwing the Cat in among the Pigeons and unsettling the "family" and the stuff they used to get away with under Montgomery's watch. They were able to use Rick's friendship with the Mayor to force her to keep Rick at the Precinct in "Rise" (ultimately to make sure Kate didn't go near her mother's murder case), but once the dust settles from the premier I don't think they will be able to do that again. So I agree with Anon 3.06 PM, Kate will make sure that if Captain Gates wants her back then she wants Rick to come back with her (as her work partner as far as Gates is concerned but secretly because they're now in a relationship and can't get enough of each other lol).

ReplyDeleteFortunately for Castle and Beckett, I'm not sure that an NYPD rule against relationships between partners would apply. He's "Richard Castle -- just NY" and not "NYPD," so the rules that apply to cops do not affect him. In addition, he is a volunteer, so there aren't likely to be any contracts, and thus no contractual limitations on who he can and cannot be dating.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that should actually limit their activities would be on-the-job shenanigans, since I don't think Gates would tolerate PDA in her precinct. Much less sneaking off to the supply closet.
