This has been the best week of my life. First, I met Nathan and got to talk to him on national television when he was on Live with Kelly last Friday! Then last night I met Stana outside a theater here in NYC (she's BREATHTAKING, by the way, and sooooo nice)...then I came home last night to find out Castle had been officially renewed for Season 5. I never for a second doubted it would be back, but it was still great to get the official word.
I haven't posted too much since Always bc, honestly, I am at a loss for words. It was such a beautiful episode and it's hard for me to express what I feel when I watch it, especially that last scene...particularly the last little bit when she puts his hand over her scar and then they share those soft, tender kisses. I can't watch that without my eyes getting watery.
I think AWM did such a wonderful job constructing the season, overall. Sure, there were some bumps along the way (Heartbreak Hotel, anyone?) but I'm so glad he stuck to the vision he had and the story he wanted to tell. He made a bold choice trading a lot of the fun of Castle for the angst and tension but I think it was the right choice. I've been of the mind for a long time that the only way Beckett and Castle were going to get together is if they truly fell apart first...not a small argument or jealousy issues...no, they needed to really hit rock bottom before they could begin to build themselves back up.
I kept this quote in mind whenever I thought of they situation this season, especially at the toughest moments: Some things fall apart so better things can come together. What Beckett and Castle had in Seasons 1-3 wasn't working for them anymore. They had to choose to evolve or go their separate ways. I'm glad they took a step back from one another and realized without the other was no way to live.
I am so very excited for Season 5 because their story can go ANYWHERE from here. Now that the holding pattern is broken, there's no telling what will happen next. That truth extends to things around the Caskett relationship, too...i.e. Beckett's job, Javi/Espo, Alexis dealing w their relationship...Always really was the end of one chapter of the show and the very promising beginning of another.
Next season surely won't be all sunshine and rainbows but it's going to be a lot of fun watching it all unfold!!!

That season finale was absolutely magnificent. What I really enjoyed the most about it (apart from the fact that they finally gave into their feelings for each other) was the fact that it was laden with symbolism and subtle references/hints. One of the best examples in this episode of symbolism I noticed was when Kate first fell over the side of the building and her sniper stood tall over her like he was victorious. This all happened after Rick told Kate that she wasn't in control, the bad guys were.
During that wonderful scene where our favourite duo finally became Caskett, there was a really nice subtle hint they threw in there. That was just before they held hands she gives him a subtle little "high five" (actually it was more of a "low five"). Of course he in the episode previous high-fived someone in the Precinct when he concluded that the killer was actually a Zombie (he also high-fived an officer in the Season 3 episode "Last Call" after theorizing that the victim was killed as a result of a mob hit).
Also in that final scene when they start making out hard (just like Rook and Nikki and giving a new meaning to shutting the front door) if you listen hard it sounds like she says "you can look" right before he unbuttons her top to see her scar.
I guess that it was a massive understatement when they said that this season finale would be unforgettable lol.

Has anybody checked out the Wikipedia page? I checked it out to see how many people watched the season finale, and I saw that they already changed the 'relatives' section. For Beckett it says "Relatives: Richard Castle (boyfriend)", and for Castle it says "Relatives: Kate Beckett (girlfriend)". I know that this is from Wikipedia and all, but really. I was happy when I saw those words. I can't wait until they start their relationship as a normal couple.

It was a no-brainer that Castle would be renewed for a fifth season. They've left things so tantalizingly open for the next season. There are so many unanswered questions still lingering over the heads of the "family" heading into the new season (at least though one major question was answered, Rick and Kate have finally given into their feelings and taken the very next big step in their relationship). The biggest question remaining at this stage is: who is this mysterious "Dragon" figure and will he finally be exposed, thus giving Kate the closure she has been so desperately seeking for 13 years? Also, what will be the fallout of Rick and Kate's night of passion and now that Kate has resigned from the 12th Precinct where will she and Rick go from here?
These characters and this show have evolved so much over four seasons that they didn't need to go down the route of giving us a jaw-dropping cliffhanger like they did last year and kept things simple enough while still leaving us hanging for more. Like Elena said they needed to rip Rick and Kate apart to break the holding pattern and to force them to open up to each other and push their relationship to the next level (which is exactly what has happened). I think the same theory applies with the way they've caused ructions in the 12th, particularly with the "bromance" between Ryan and Esposito. They too will have to make peace with what happened and I'm sure they'll pull through. I suspect that the bridges will have to be mended in the 12th and it wouldn't surprise me to see Kate reinstated into the new season as a detective again. I'm also wondering how Captain Gates will handle everything. Back in the Hero's and Villains episode she wanted to keep a lid on the fact that Officer Hastings had been masquerading as one of the "Lone Vengeances" as it was a "bad look" for the Police Force. They never really revealed exactly how much Kevin had told her about the conspiracy that Montgomery was involved in that was linked to Kate's shooting and Johanna Beckett's murder. I wonder if she will, in the name of good publicity, actually prevent these revelations from ever becoming public knowledge even though that would make her look like a hypocrite for lambasting Kate and Javier for their evidence withholding.
So, so much to look forward to! Is it September yet?

Beckett drops her coffee, which gets Esposito's and Ryan's attention, they just stare then Gates notices then they have a awkward conversation about PDA and if they are now romantically involved. #perfectscene <3
