and the domino effect of said changes leads to this season's climax.
And while I'm pretty sure that no one's life will be hanging in the
balance, Castle-Beckett fans will likely still be in for a long summer.
Why? Marlowe says this finale doesn't lend itself to a large time jump
between seasons. "The way we're ending this season, people will want to
know what happens in the immediate aftermath," he teases.

That would be shocking to all of us and go along withe Ausiello's blind item that people may think they're skipping too many beats. It just says nobody's life would be hanging In the balance so I feel like this would be an emotional cliffhanger. After all, he's been married twice so he's proposed twice before....wishful thinking?

DeleteI'm no psychic but I can guarantee you that Castle will not propose to Beckett this finale (or vice versa). What Ausiello meant with his "some may think they are skipping too many beats" comment in the Blind Item article is that Castle and Beckett will be sleeping together before having initiated a romantic relationship. I have a feeling the cliff-hanger will have something to do with Alexis not exactly walking in on them or anything but maybe catching Beckett sneaking about the loft in nothing but a sheet or a shirt of Castle's. It would leave many questions up in the air during the hiatus like, "How's Kate going to explain it, What's Castle going to say to Alexis, especially seeing as he still may be unsure about what Beckett wants, How's Alexis' reaction going to affect C&B's relationship, How will Beckett affect Castle and Alexis' relationship, etc" IDEK I could be way off but he's not going to propose. It took her a year plus therapy sessions to be able to accept his "I love you", the last thing he would do would be to be to propose to her before they've even entered a relationship.

Yes, I'm with anon 9:10, Nobody is going to propose LOL. Not this finale anyway. When Jon said we'd be "more surprised than ever", that was before Ausiello's blind item so I think he was referring to them hopping in to bed together. For the sake of argument though, if Castle were to propose next episode, I would be royally pissed. I do not want that yet, whatsoever.

There will be lots of loose ends to tie and resolve for the team and for Castlle and Beckett. Especially Beckett.
- She will be suspended or resign which needs to be dealt with.
- She is quite aware that a shooter is out there and needs to be caught.
- We might get to know who the Dragon is, and they need to figure it out.
- Captain Gates will have a huge role to play for next few episodes at the very least, lets see what gets reveled in the finale.... and depending on the storyline that will also play a part.
- We need to see if Monty's files that are stolen show up anywhere or weather we get to see the person behind the deed and what that means for all of them.
- If Monty's coverup surfaces will that affect the whole team, suspension etc?
- Gates is ex IRB, will that spell more trouble for the gang or will she turn a leaf and want to protect the reputation of her team and initiate a fresh coverup? Or does she know the dragon?
- AND FINALLY, the aftermath of the most important decision that Beckett made that night.... Yes resigning was big.... But resigning to her feelings was WAY bigger. How will that play out, keeping it secret or going all out....

DeleteWell last seasons finale, I think fans wanted to know immediately too what happened in that aftermath right...i know I was...anyway I think maybe he asks her to choose him or the case, and then they stop there...because that cole Maddox character is in 2 episodes, so he will be in the season 5 premier...so it's possible, they fight, and castle gives her an ultimatum. What do you think?

As much as I love Marlowe, I will be super pissed if the long awaited moment for caskett, be it kisses, or sex is interrupted just as they move towards each other or about to kiss etc and that's the cliffhanger. We waited four years, Marlowe can at least reward us without cockblocking and interruptions.

It doesn't make any sense that a cliffhanger would be the beginning of a kiss or beginning of them getting it on, or Alexis walking in on them/discovering it, because honestly, Castle is porn so it's not like the characters are ever going to have sex on screen anyway. That doesn't really leave us wondering what's going to happen, just knowing what will happen. I mean, I guess it's kinda like a life-or-death cliffhanger because you know the person will live, but... my guess is it's going to be something that can be taken in many different directions and we'll be waiting all summer to see what those directions are.

Man, Marlowe rocks. I admit to being his bitch, lol... I just feel like we're in for an epic finale that may top Knockout. I don't think anything can top Knockout, but if anyone can write an episode to beat it, it would be Marlowe.
Why is everyone so convinced of this kidnapping theory? I really doubt anything like that will happen. Marlowe promised a different kind of finale, and having Alexis kidnapped seems too obvious and predictable. If that does happen, Marlowe will have to convince me that it's realistic, because I just don't see that happening at this point.
DeleteI don't think the dragon knows the extent of Castle's involvement, anyway. Smith knows because of Monty's package, but he's one of the "good guys" as far as we know, so I don't think he would have told the dragon about Castle. I think it's more likely the dragon will go after Kate herself or Monty's wife and children, seeing as they are the ones protected by the information that Monty gave to Smith.
I also don't think that Gates is the dragon. Again, it's too obvious and too similar to last year's finale, with Monty being involved in the JB case. I don't think it's not a coincidence that Gates is from IA, though. My guess is she'll find out about Monty and open an investigation on him, perhaps contributing to Beckett's decision to resign.
I will agree with you, Anon 8:42, that we're all Marlowe's bitches. He says "jump," and we all say, "how high?" LOL I don't mind, though. It's an occupational hazard of being an obsessed shipper. ;)
The more I watch the end of the clip when Beckett reaches out to him to kiss him, it appears he's scared and trying to remain calm and pulls back from her... could that be a signal to her that the sniper is in his apartment???
ReplyDeleteYes the body language is definitely off. See we have seen clips before that really doesn't tell the whole story. Its a definite possibility and I hate to think it is b/ c I can't seem to find any other way they could give us that kiss or something more if they lose that moment.

I still cannot figure out the cliffhanger unless indeed it is if they have sex or not but i dont think that will be it although as it said in a very recent spoiler that the scene where Kate comes to Castles loft wet. I think the cliffhanger will be right after the kiss\sex.

I know Brittany, ausiello does like to tease a lot. I'm glad we at least get a kiss. I think the cliffhanger will be after the kiss to. I'm so glad there is no gap. So if they do get in a relationship, we moss nothing.:) we will see if caskett is the blind item or not. In the meantime can't wait.

DeleteDepending how everything plays out it's still not guaranteed that they will spend the summer together. For example, Beckett or Castle might get into legal trouble for covering up information about Cpt. Montgomery's death. If either she or Castle are arrested, they may end up separated against their will.
It kind of comes down to if Caskett is the blind item or not in some ways. If they ARE then there HAS to be shagging. I really CAN'T see them closing of the season with the end of Promo scene. There has to be something bigger than that. Plus there has been a lot of talk about then being a couple in season 5 and how that would work. I'm still hoping that Castle and Beckett get together and while they are shagging someone blows up the 12th or something. It would make for and interesting season 5 beginning. The synopsis says that something will affect 'the 12th'...not just Castle and Beckett. ALL guesses of course.

I can just see all the fanfic writers queuing up at the starting line, waiting for the pistol to go off as soon as Always ends. Don't let us down, writers! We're gonna have a loooong summer ahead of us, and fanfic is the only thing that will get me through.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think that anything we see in the promo is going to be even close to the biggest things that happen during the finale. I mean, if you watch the promo for last year's finale it doesn't even come close. They can't end with the kiss because then the promo would have ruined the episode and there's no way they'd do that.
ReplyDeleteGoing off off what we know the break in at Montgomery's wife's house is probably at the beginning, Kate then makes the connection and her and Castle's fight is probably before or at the middle of the ep (at the latest). Then the kiss and wtv results from that, and then the episode will take a turn for the wildly dramatic and unexpected. There's no way Marlowe's going to keep things in the box, and it would be really disappointing if he did.
I think that we will get to see them kiss at least a couple of times there's no way the season wuld finish if we didn't see it plus stana and Nathan both said that fans wuld be really happy with how the season finished so I defintly reckon they kiss and more. I reckon the cliff hanger might be after they do the deed they ask each other wat they are to each other and that's how it finishes with fans wondering if they are officially a couple

Beckett walks into his loft, wet hair and all, and grabs him for a long kiss. After a bit of kissing, she starts roughly pulling Castle's top off. He immediately stops and asks her is she is sure about this and she says, "Yes, please, I have never been more sure in my life..." with longing eyes. From this, Castle picks her and carries her to his master bedroom and yes, we get to witness the full scene!;-)
And then, the fall asleep and at sunrise Beckett wakes up early to walk around the room, basically getting comfortable in Castle's space. But then she finds the remote to the TV and when she switches it on she sees the screen with all the information about her mother's case that Castle has been hiding from her. She feels absolute shock and betrayal... Castle wakes up, sees this and says, "I can explain" but the expression on her face shows that whatever they has is OVER... and then the scene ends... and the series ends...
No Alexis interruptions fortunately ;-)

ReplyDeleteWe finally get to see castle and Beckett find a room, they wake up together, the 12th is on fire, they either go there or see it on the news, and Kate is named as the suspect.
The dragon and his/her misfits love blowing things up... If not the 12th then something else, and who better to pin it on?
She could be cleared (Still allowing mystery of the dragon to remain open). All of this could be done in the first episode of season 5 still leaving room for fun episodes to follow.
heres my take on it after the kissing and stuff at Ricks apartment later in the episode castle and beckett are in the 12th castles tell kate its all right where in this together and she goes and retires her badge just as something explosive is about to happen showing on the screen then it goes blank with kate's face in shock

DeleteSo true! It seems clear that this season finale and the first episode of the next season are linked together, possibly even more than what Knockout and Rise were. I've read many people voicing their (valid) concerns that the show's creators were probably stuffing far too much stuff into the finale, but given that it was hinted that Cole Maddox appears in at least two episodes it looks like the finale and the first episode of next season are effectively a two-part event. I wonder if this will finally see the exposure of the "Dragon", therefore allowing Kate to put her mother's murder to rest and put all her energy into a relationship with Rick. If they do conclude the arc surrounding the Johanna Beckett murder then perhaps they will have the mystery surrounding who Rick's father really is come in to take the place that Johanna Beckett's murder held. As long as the "cliffhanger" isn't Kate and Rick finally getting their freak on I'll be very happy lol.
DeleteLOL agreed anon 11:57. But if they do end the Johanna beckett's murder case, I think it should end in the alley where her mom was killed. It would definitely leave Kate emotional and add some depth since that alley is where all Kate's troubles began. I would love to see her take down the dragon there, and how her and Rick manage a relationship while Kate deals with who she is without her mom's case defining her. I think we saw the real Kate coming out this season who smiles more, instead of the always serious detective. I can't wait to see how they pursue rick's dad storyline. I'm sure they will put lots of twists in it. Or they might switch the focus to 3xk coming back for more revenge. I'm sure there will be lots of storylines in season 5, including caskett dating. And anon10:43 agreed. We know nothing. And the real cliffhanger AM comes up with will truly blow us all away.

Nothing we have seen on the promo, infact the whole year that would prepare us for the last 30 secs of the finale. It WILL come as a complete surprise. If know AWM's style I know for sure it will be a jawdropper, and something thats never been visited before...!!

ReplyDeleteShe goes back to her apartment and Castle stops by her place after he got a call from the Shadowy Figure. He tells her to stop looking into this case. Kate askes why and that’s when he tells her about the deal he made with Mr. Smith. She gets mad and wants to know why he did that. He finally tells her that he did it because he loves her and he doesn’t want to see her dead. They fight more and finally tells her that he is more than a partner (work partner). Catle begs her :” Just don’t do this” But she asked him to leave and makes him know that she’s going after her sniper, with or without his help.
The next morning, Kate goes to her mom’s grave. Talks to her mom and goes back at the precinct but Castle is not there. Espo and Ryan ask her where he is, but Beckett only says home but doesn’t want to continue this conversation. Beckett is on work mode and just wants to know where the sniper is. They got a tip. He’s in a building somewhere downtown. After Beckett finds him , they fight together inside the building, the sniper escapes her , but she chases him to the roof. They fight more and Beckett is losing the battle.She’s hanging on the edge of the building. Esposito comes to her rescuit. Beckett is alive.
Back at the precinct, Espo and Beckett have a discussion with Gates in her office. The sniper in on the loose , but Gates doesn’t want to follow more leads as one of her detective could have died today. Beckett is upset, feeling that Gates is blocking her from finding the man who order the kill on her mom. So she hangs out her gun and her badge and says “I resign”.
Beckett goes back to the swing where her and Castle had a discussion about her wall, her moms and relationship.It's pouring rain, but she doesn't care. She feels like she's lost everything she cared about.
In the meantime, the sniper is found in Mr. Smith’s (The Shadowy Figure) apartment. The two of them talk , but Mr. Smith is in a rush for an evening event. The sniper let him go. Only, once in his vehicle, Mr. Smith dies from a bomb placed in his vehicle.
*Back to Beckett. She walks in the hallway , one step in front of the other. She has been here so many times, but this time, she knows things will be different. Castle opens the doors. He surprised to see her.
Castle: *sigh* I'd let you in detective, but you said you didn’t want to see me anymore.
Beckett: Castle...I-I didn’t catch him. He’s gone.
Castle: I’m sure the NYPD will catch the him.They have one great detective on their side.
Beckett: I resigned.
Castle: What? You can’t!
Beckett looks at Castle in a sad way , sighs and without thinking it thru she enters his loft (without his permission! lol) and grabs him and FINALLY kisses him!
Kate: Are we ok?
Castle: *smile* ALWAYS!
They kiss more and end up in his bedroom. while unbottoning their shirts. Castle closed the door behind them with his foot).
THE END.
The questions remain:
What will happen if Kate is not longer a cop?
What does this mean for Castle/Beckett?
If Mr. Smith dies in the car explosion, who's gonna protect Kate (beside Castle)?
Will they keep their relationship on the low-key?
Will Castle only tell Martha about him and Beckett and wait for Alexis to come back during mid-session break?
Will Gate process Kate's resignation even though it was verbal or will she ignore it and give Kate the time to "calm down"?
So many questions!!!!

What if the cliffhanger is the explosion? Maybe Montgomery's house. Leaving us wondering if his wife and kids were killed. This a two parter.. first part concentrating on sniper, secrets, and establishing awesome Caskett relationship. Then they hear from Evelyn and after they talk to her.....Boom.

ReplyDeleteCastle gets busted for trying to derail Kate's attempts at investigating her mother's murder in order to save her life. Argument ensues about it in which Castle reaffirms his love for her and begs her not to pursue the investigation yet she pushes him away due to being hurt. Upon reflection she gets over her anger and goes to him deciding she loves him enough to forgive and let the case go. Alas somebody forgot to inform "The Dragon" so they have no choice but to bring the issue of her mother's murder to a a resolution together as they are no longer willing to let her live.

I am going to propose farfetched theory. Caskett gets together and has sex. Time jumps ahead and Beckett finds out she pregnant. End of finale.

DeleteGuys, Kate is not gonna get pregnant from one night with Castle. It's a very cheap form of storytelling, and it's actually pretty unrealistic. You don't want my opinion of how that only happens to teenagers and that's just because they tell their parents it was just one night so they don't have to tell them in actuality they have been fucking like bunnies for months. Really, so many things have to line up exactly right that the odds are rather astronomical. It took me a whole year of actually trying before I got pregnant. However, I guess it only does take once if your luck is really shitty.
DeleteI have a feeling the cliff hanger will not be about Caskett.... to predictable. TV Guide said there were arresting developments. Castle will probably get arrested for illegal dealings trying to protect or save Beckett OR vice versa.

ReplyDeleteI'm still not wholly convinced that Caskett are Ausiello's blind item, but those of us who give into temptation will get another piece of that puzzle on Friday.
Part of me says they fit, and part of me doubts Marlowe would go there, that an outright hook-up might be the lure to tune in for season 5. So tricky though, lol.
If at Paley the cast were saying shippers would be happy 12.897563 etc out of 10, well, that's good, but I'm thinking if it was a hook up they woulda made up a higher number, except that may have given too much away.
But then there's Nathan saying things happen in a rush sometimes. Dunno dunno dunno.
I think Montgomery's Widow's case sparks a newly nearly healed Beckett into looking into her mother's case again, hence the cemetary visit (which could also be Kate visiting Roy, too).
I think Castle asks her to back off and stop, and his secret comes out. I think S3 is echoed in her saying "we're over," and she plunges headlong back into her mother's case. This pushes Gates to have to intervene somehow (especially if "the whole precinct may never be the same"), and Beckett resigns (or Beckett is just re-evaluating everything and resigns without an ultimatum).
I think Beckett finds touble. I think Castle's still investigating too & trying to find a way to change the odds in her favor.
I think the sniper dude gets away, and Beckett's crisis, and the cliff-hanger, is her deciding what her future is going to be. Will she in fact continue to let her mother's murder define her, or will she learn from Roy's sacrifice and all her therapy and, as Renton/Trainspotting would say, "choose life."
I think she'll choose Castle over the murder, but the cliff hanger may be her future with the police force. I'm thinking Rick might say he'll be there with Kate no matter where she goes, be it back to the NYPD or to pursue the case on her own, because of "Always."
I'm hoping there may be a kiss or more for Caskett, but I'd be okay if the hook-up was not this season. What I'd dislike would be for Marlowe & Co. to hold that moment ransom for the summer. That would just be cruel. So no, I don't see the ep and season ending on a rain-soaked near moment of physical intimacy with a "tune in next time to see if..." type ending, lol.
What I'm liking most about the promo is that Kate is for once initiating something between them.
Their confrontation over his secret takes place at her apartment, but her reaching out to him has her trekking all the way to his place.
Looking forward happily to see how it all plays out.

ReplyDeleteok this is going to be one awesome rollercoaster ride. I think the cliffhanger will b e as follows: they take the sniper into custody, Beckett has a roadblock 'Gates', she's too close to this case. so she visits jb an Roy apologizes that she can't solve this. then decides on how to move forward hence getting soaked in the rain. finally she plucks up the courage to go see castle, they do end up on bed. And now the Cliffhanger: he gets up only to realize she isn't next to him, when he sits up he finds her starring at the murder board. he holds her from behind and tells her whatever she decides he'll stand by her always then camera on her finger over the delete button. screen fades.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that too, it would be really sweet and really show how much each of them care for one another. Kate is ready to let go of her mothers case untill maybe some day the real truth comes out about what really happened.

ReplyDelete- The promo they showed for The limey with Esposito saying, 'Its like they are pulling away' Look closely, Beckett is siting on her desk wearing 'white' shirt. This means he will say this when Beckett and Castle are not talking after their argument about his secret.
Therefore, I guess its not that big a spoiler but at least its a little more about this episode 'always' ! What you guys think?
