  4. Yeah there seems to be a bit of a competition with the US and Canada. Well Nathan and Stana will be rooting for Canada I guess, I don't really care...bring it on.

So when he opens the door, she doesn't actually straight away lunge at him, that was edited for the earlier promo, here you see her just standing, looking defeated and hopefully giving into how she really feels. Despite the kiss, what I'm really hoping for is her actually saying those three little words to him, I think that's what fans have been waiting for, for some assurance for castles sake at least, that she does in fact love him. They need not sleep together yet, but I believe she has to put herself out there and tell him how she feels, and I hope she takes that chance.

    All the way from Malaysia...

    1. Thank you for saying this! I was just thinking that and just going to say that, but you have saved me the need. Her just waiting there first makes it look alot better!

  5. If she says those three little words... I want her to say them AFTER she kisses him.

And the he can kiss her back ....all the way to his bedroom. I don't care. (ok yes I do because I wanna find out HOW they get in there !!! LOL!)

  6. I want this song!!! Dang ABC fights back hard. I'm enjoying this ABC vs. CTV promo smack down. In the end we are the ones that benefit with awesome promos.:) I bet this finale will be unforgettable. And ok I think Kate says she loves him and tells him whatever else he needs to hear then goes in for the kiss. But we have to wait till Monday to see. Anybody else hoping ABC or CTV gets pissed at something else and releases a 7th sneak peek??LOL

    3. Found it! This version is by Digital Daggers from "The Vampire Diaries" ... seems a little darker than the Tears for Fears version (which is pure 80's gold!)

    4. The thing that's bugging me the most is that what if the clip where Beckett comes to his apartment is before the conversation they had in the other spoiler . The one in which castles secret comes out . Then we might not get a happy casket ending .

      Delete
    5. I don't know if we will get a happy caskett ending cause we have to wait, but I do know the scene when he opens the door and her hair is wet is after. Apparently she was sitting on the swingset(same from rise!!) and ponders her future. It was said that Rick's secret would change their relationship and if it ended like that caskett fans would not be happy at all. So after the swings, she goes to Rick's apartment. Also do you notice Kate's smile in sneak peek 1 when she said I'd love to, and In sneak peek 6 just her whole body language?? I knew Kate grew this season but looking back and comparing it to this Kate, the whole Kate who smiles more, I dont see how there won't be a happy ending for these two. Also remember we were promised a 12 on the caskett scale of happiness. Judging by the clip in Kate's apartment in sneak peek 6, kate's not overly pissed. I mean she's mad but you can also see the love in her eyes, especially when he repeats his ily. I'm not saying don't worry at all but I think you shouldn't stress out over it too much.

  12. ABC & CTV are certainly making things both easier and harder to wait for Monday, lol.

Interesting the different tacks the compilation promos have taken. Looks like they're aiming at every possible demo. Their marketing gurus and bean counters must have made some determinations in a new outreach program, lol.

There's the action/thriller slant, there's the Joanna Beckett Ongoing Murder Mythology slant, there's the lighter, flirty will they/won't they slant, and this latest one above all is a very significant one, and here's my thinking in why.

    It's from ABC.

It's a series long compilation, not just a season long compilation, nor just harkening back to last year's finale.

    And.

It's focused purely upon the Castle/Beckett relationship, not the usual banter/love-eyeballs/subtext subtext subtext. This is in the manner of an Absolutely Epic Romance.

What this seems like is that it's ABC on board with the series taking a new step forward. It's acknowledging the dynamic, but no longer as an underlying presence but an overt one, and one that will now change the show.

It's unique in how ABC has supported the show previously. The pool-hall promo? Framed to be all in Castle's head, and the relationship remained played in banter, coffee, subtext and near misses.

Heck, even the up-fronts tongue in cheek short had 'Beckett' answer will they/won't they with "No. What you also want is someone who will keep focused."

S3's ILY was buried in S4's secrets and healing arcs (and Beckett STILL hasn't actually verbally acknowledged that she heard Castle, not to him directly).

The S3 finale teased something that was put into a holding pattern for the near-entirety of S4, the bulk of which then simply carried on and played out pretty much along the same patterns as it had in seasons past, but with less playfulness and more unspoken angst.

That Kate would survive the shooting was never in doubt. That Roy died both to atone for his past and to ensure Kate's chance to have a life and a future was the great shock, and a great cliff hanger.

This promo seems like it is the very first that puts not just the relationship but the romance aspect of it front and center, instead of it being woven in and around the procedural aspects.

The procedural framework will remain of course, but this says to me that Marlowe has approval from the network & studio to alter and augment the show and take it in a new direction. That's huge precisely because there is often pressure to play Unresolved Sexual Tension relentlessly and endlessly as a prime-time engine for many dramas.

Part of this might be that a character they wrote as a young teen back when is now undeniably a young woman and so there are also other changes that will be made as Alexis goes to college. That, however, was not part of the promo, only the sneak peeks.

ABC must really like what Castle is doing for the network, and this shift in the show dynamics must have been forecast if Marlowe is pretty much suggesting that where he's ended the show up is essentially where he thought they'd be by the S4 finale.

It's also a promo ABC can use in all markets and with all related products, for that matter.

Marlowe has stated that part of the appeal of the show and the relationship is that it taps into the tradition of a sweeping romance, but has deftly mixed it with the humor, the pop-culture meta, the murder mystery, the action, the buddy cop, the outsider stirring the roost, yada.

It will no doubt continue to do so. But what this feels like is a milestone. It's a marker, a book-mark if you will, because S5 is looking more and more like it will really be a whole new chapter.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I love how much thought you put into that analysis of the promo. Well done. And you're right, it feels like a milestone, introducing a whole new chapter. I can't wait for season 5.

    2. Less playfulness and more unspoken angst...

I have laughed my ass off this season. Heroes & Villains, Eye of the Beholder, Demons, Heartbreak Hotel, Cuffed, Til Death Do Us Part, Emabarrassment of Bitches, The Blue Butterfly, even the two parter had some humorous moments, Once Upon A Crime, Headhunters, Undead Again....

Even in serious episodes like Rise, Cops & Robbers, Kill Shot, and Dial M for Mayor the show is able to make me laugh or show the bright side of the characters as they are dealing with some very serious and emotional things. And on the reverse, in episodes with a more comical twist things can turn serious.

This show is more than about the comedy/romance and I don't get the kess playfulness, more unspoken angst comment. This show still feels like Castle to me and has gotten better with each season.

As far back as season 1 there was a darker element introduced that was more subtle then, but I always felt Beckett's mom's past would be revealed. Some fans act like it just came out of nowhere.

As the characters grow, they can't always be all about making us laugh. We need time to stop laughing sometimes to get inside of the characters' heads.

Then there's competition with 5-0. Castle is a procedural as well and we do need to see Castle & Beckett act as legitimate and competent crime-solvers.

Some fans expect just the romance and the comedy. I enjoy these aspects of the show, too, but I also watch for other things besides the ship.

I think Marlowe has done a great job to balance the romance, comedy, procedural, drama, and action when needed in each season and knows when to bring these elements depending on where the characters themselves are in the story. If Beckett is dealing with her mom, I don't expect the comedy to be in the forefront. We get her mom's case a couple of times in a season, but some fans act like it's in every other episode. Ugh.

I honestly have very few complaints about Castle.

I complain more about its fanbase, which I don't feel is as loyal to the show as it should be, so I am glad that ABC is pushing it. The show and actors deserve it.

We are entering new territory in season 5, but don't be surprised if Castle & Beckett act like a real couple and sometimes fight while they're a couple because based on the response from this fandom, it will be the end of the world and they'll threaten to turn the channel and call Marlowe vile names, etc. It's unrealistic to expect nothing to ever challenge the ship or the characters to hurt each other by misunderstandings and miscommunication. Subtext is very prevalent in a lot of relationships.

I don't know one person who hasn't been able to express themselves directly/properly with their loved ones, friend/associates, coworkers, etc. To err is human, but to some of these fans the characters aren't allowed to be flawed.

I love how the characters have evolved and the relationship has progressed and love the supporting characters, too. Marlowe and crew know what they're doing and if they falter occasionally, I won't call them names and threaten to turn the show.

This is such an amazing show! Hopefully this fandom will learn to mature, be patient, and accept that the characters won't always be perfect and Caskett will still continue to be challenged as a couple. You can still love someone and face hard times together and sometimes working things through can strengthen the relationship. I really feel that's how Marlowe has progressed these character by allowing them to fall hard, face their fears and insecurities, and learn how to pick themselves back up with the help of each other and their family and friends.

So glad I am a fan of this show.

    3. Check it, it was Marlowe himself that said they traded some of the charm for angst.

I never said the season was devoid of laughs, but was thinking of the fact there was a deliberate theme of secrets, and what that added to the underlying pulse of S4.

I never said it made the season better or worse as a judgement. If anything, I would have liked to have seen more of that subtle angst among the usual patterns of case/banter/team dynamics etc. What sometimes felt sparse was the acknowledgment that things were percolating behind the usual goings on - and then lo and behold an ep would pop up and touch on what I was wondering about (Mr. Smith, a counselling session, eg.).

I've loved lots of eps this season, just as I've been frustrated by a couple, but that happens for me EVERY season.

And I'm not even gonna get into what makes a "real" fan or not. The majority of viewers for any show I would guess are more casual ones, not the "hardcore" ones. That some come and go or are more ambivalent in what draws them in or pushes them away is to their own personal taste. To each their own.

I think this season has had a great deal of fun with meta content, with the humor but also some very powerful episodes for Kevin and Kate this season.

The fact that all was not perfectly harmonious between Castle and Beckett added to the season for me. And the tone of that within S4 was certainly different from previous seasons, IMO.

There were also a few things I found less enjoyable in choices producers made about other characters too, but again, par for the course. I like to be pushed as a viewer, and not spoon fed. The more twists the better, even if I dislike them, because it keeps things interesting and unpredictable, and four years in, that's a remarkable achievement.

I'll stand by 'less playfull more angst 'though. And also 'unspoken' because of the secrets and perpetual subtext and the long path travelled to have them laying everything out in the finale.

I've had my own issues not with the fandom but on occasion particular comments and what sometimes feel like bandwagon waves of negativity within it - but what I never, ever begrudge is the passion with which people care about the show and express their feelings for it, no matter what their opinions are. Everyone's entitled, and it would certainly be bland if there were no differences of opinion at all.

What I do like are articulate discussions, like yours. (Conversely, what irks me tend to be drive-by mud-slingings on content, and comments about the cast or staff that have less to do with the show).

I appreciate your comment and the insight of your comments. I just hope you didn't misconstrue mine :).

    3. McGill has an excellent reputation for a great many programs, so no matter what you study it's a great school. It's got a very dense and concentrated student population, so crowding and finding a corner in the libraries can be challenging when online can't get ya what ya want, but you'd soon learn the tricks of the trade, so to speak. McGill's website is also very good.

Concordia is the city's other sort of main large school, and has a bit of a different character to it, but is also good.

That's also to say that you'll find down town very student heavy at times but don't be afraid to live a bit further afield and get the best of living both inside and outside that geographic bubble.

The city of Montreal is awesome and amazing!! I cannot stress that enough.

There is certainly lots of English spoken and so you should have no trepidation in terms of languages, and the fact you wish to learn French is great, and would also be appreciated.

There's a great mix of people, lots of culture, lots of sports, lots of quirky shops and also the usual chain stores, seasonal markets, great terraces, pubs, restaurants, great architecture, the city is contained and not overly sprawling but there's tons to see and do, and the public transportation is very good. A little hilly and terrifying if you're a reluctant cyclist, but a bike can also be a good way to get around.

Mont-Tremblant is close if skiing etc are your thing. The winters can be cold and snowy, the summers can be very hot and humid. Montreal is also an easy hub for trips to Toronto, Boston, NYC, Quebec City etc.

The hardest part might be finding a place to live/rent/share, so make a trip up to make some connections thru the school or just look around.

As a matter of fact, a week-end trip just to visit would probably answer a lot of any other questions you have about what it would be like to live there.

PS my only caveat is the parking. If you have a car, you'll be perpetually playing parking tetris at ungodly hours and trying to decipher the most cryptic signs indicating where you can dare to leave your car and for how long. If you can get along without one you'll be better off.

The other thing to know is that Montreal is a city of Festivals. They can almost be considered a secondary set of seasons. IE. Jazz Festival, Just For Laughs Festival, fringe festivals, etc. etc. These are fun, but once you become a local, so to speak, you'll find they do significantly divert traffic etc because the city structures around them. Getting from A to B can be a little more challenging when you're in a hurry and there's a few thousand extra folk making things interesting.

I'd say the city will be as much as an education as the school. I still miss it and count it a great decision for me personally to have spent some time there.

I went to the National Theatre School there, later worked at Concordia, and at least 6 of my extended family have gone to McGill. Had no language issues, really polished my Quebecois (cos you won't learn ~ French ~, lol) and Franglais. We've none of us regrets the time spent.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Should you choose to study elsewhere, keep the city in mind for a visit someday anyways :).

If there's anything more specific you want another excessively long and rambling opinion on, lemme know.

      E.B.

Apologies for diverting the post/thread with this, if not appropriate.

  19. Wow...just copied this from an interview with AM on another site...

On a very detailed note, is Beckett sitting in the same swing set that Castle and Beckett sit on in the Season 4 premiere.

Very observant. Was that in the promo? For our loyal fans that’s a symbolic callback and in terms of the way we handle it, that’s something for them to pay attention to in the episode.

    It's the same swing!!!

  20. From the way Beckett looks when Castle opens the door, I think she may say "I love you" before the kiss

    ReplyDelete

    1. I think you may be right.

I was thinking about all the promos (so many now I'm starting to get them mixed up,lol)

...but anyways. In one, where she's hanging by her fingertips from the ledge, and people were saying they thought her say "Rick?" And then tucked in one of the other promos somewhere, people said they thought they her say "love you" kind of all out of breath?

I'm wondering if all the audio's been cut and mixed and pasted as well as the visual clips.

And maybe when she's standing rain-soaked at Rick's door all kind of breathless (like maybe she ran all the way the hell there) that's maybe where we'll then hear "Rick, love you" uttered while charging to grab him by the ears to plant long-awaited confirmation of her feelings for him on her lips?

Wherein Rick welcomes her in warmly and uses her to close the door.

      Delete
    2. I posted elsewhere that "Rick" as she hung from the roof didn't sound like it belonged there and that it sounds more suitable for their end scene together where she's reaching for him to kiss.

I am dying to see them come apart and then together in the finale. No one does argument scenes like Nathan & Stana. They are so raw and full of emotion. Their chemistry ignites to a whole other level and i'm usually screaming at my tv...JUST KISS ALREADY!

Marlowe was fortunate to find these two and his writing just makes them that much better or I should say their acting makes his writing that much better. Either way I love this show and Stanathan and Caskett!

      Delete
  21. hmm it looks like it too but then why would Castle slightly step to the side as to let her through the door when she reaches out for him. i dont know this is all just driving me crazy!!!

    1. No, they weren't in any promo. Someone asked Ausiello why Kate was wet and he said 'that's what happens when you sit on a swing in the pouring rain without an umbrella'. Or words to that effect. It seems that AM didn't know that wasn't in one of the promos when he answered that question.

      Delete
  22. If you look closer at Kate's face at the end, you will see tears in her eyes. She lets him see her vulnerability, and I think this is really absolutely a new territory. Whenever we saw her cry in his presence, we could see she did it only if her best attempts to hold tears back failed. But this time, standing at his door, she lets him look into her soul, she lets him see her pain, how badly she needs him to be by her side.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I disagree...

She showed her vulnerability to him in Rise and not only because of a failed attempt to hold back tears but because Kate knew about his ILY at that pint and was beginning to accept that he would be the person she'd be spending her life with and was beginning even back then to let him in and to see her vulnerability and to me that was Marlowe's set up to bring these two closer in season 4, which he did in spite of those fans who claimed otherwise.

Those :filler" episodes were seting this finale up perfectly. Notice emphasis on "fillers." I hate when people say an episode is a filler because nothing HUGE was happening with Caskett, but every episode was building up to this finale and making the foundation of their relationship stronger to overcome the challenges.

Unfortunately this online fandom didn't see that this season, but I surely did. I feel vindicated by being patient enough to see the story unfold and think Marlowe is pretty much genius in his storytelling.

I'm a bit bitter over this fandom all of a sudden praising AM after giving him and the show hell most of this season and last season.

      Delete
    2. awwwww, ur right. :D

      Delete
    3. Nah, people aren't being fickle. For example, I'm not praising. Not yet. I'll praise if the episode delivers, but until then I'm happy to let joyful speculating be joyful speculating. No need to rain on happy parades. Even we "haters" hope the episode will be good... AM just hasn't made a habit of delivering this season. He's been too busy stalling to get us to this point.

I hope the finale is good. I do. But kissing and sex in a finale is no redemption for being strung along for a "pay off" for nine months.

I say that not to start a fight, but just to let you know that people aren't being fickle. They're just waiting to see if this finale is worth the wait...

  23. OMG! This looks like a fan-made vid! Awesome. I love the beginning during all the "Beckett" and "Castle" shouts. LOL And I especially love that frustrated "Casttle" from season 1 Beckett. They've come a long way.

As close as I can remember the relevant part of the conversation it went:

Fallon: So can you tell us anything about the ending?

Fillion: I can tell you that for the past 4 years everyone has been wondering, will they or won't they...but after the finale they won't have to wonder anymore.

    Happy news :)

Phony fans who only like the ship if they are happy, but can't take facing the challenges with the couple. I hate fans like that.

      Delete
    3. It's because they weren't fans. They were just the type of people who are only happy when they can make everyone else upset. Good riddance to them.

      Delete
    4. Those people are still here. They just jumped on the bandwagon ever since the first promo for Always.

      Delete
    5. Nah. We haven't jumped on a bandwagon. We're just quiet and waiting. It's no fun to get people mad on these boards. It's not why any of us come here. We're all here because we love the show, albeit it for different reasons.

That said, I *still* think that you can count the number of great episodes in season 4 on one hand. Most of them have been weak sauce, whereas seasons 1, 2, and even 3 mostly had winner after winner. This season has been the low point of the series (imo) and they're trying to redeem it with Caskett sex in the finale.

THAT is why the nay-sayers on here have been bugged. Not because there was a lack of sexual content in the show. The first seasons promised a more fun ride into the sack, and now we get to see two tortured, wounded people who have practically ripped each other's hearts out try to heal each other with a kiss.

      Not fun.

But that's where we're at and that's what people are getting excited about, so why rain on that parade? No need. I'm happy to be silent and let other people celebrate--but I will chime in when comments like this are made, since you are basically asking for it.

All that said, only a troll would poo-poo the crowning episode of the season. This is AM saving his best for last and basically trying to justify all the filler episodes and pain he's put Caskett through this year. Neither Beckett or Castle smiles anymore, and now we're supposed to believe that sex will bring the smiles back and make everything okay.

      I hope it does.

I hope it brings back the chemistry, banter, and "sword play" that made this show great out of the gate. Not a will-they/won't-they/how-long-can-we-make-them-wait/how-bad-can-we-make-them-hurt-before-they-say-****-it-and-fall-into-bed story line.

I love Caskett for their high stakes flirting--which was completely absent in season 4.

So if any power that be is reading right now, I'm telling you straight up what makes this show work. And it's not two people hurting each other day after day with secrets they think are more important than relationships. This show works when two opposites poke at each other, overshare, and otherwise push the other out of his/her comfort zone in a way that makes the other not know whether to kiss them or yell at them.

So, all that said, I really hope the finale is good. Same with Season 5. I hope it brings the fun back and sends the moping, tortured drama back to CBS where it belongs.

That's my stance. It's not fickle. But I also don't think it's a good vibe to bring to a party (like here, where everyone is celebrating the promos).

  31. God! Castle fandom lives in an alternate universe.
A universe where Mondays are not seen as the most dreadful thing on Earth but the best time of the week.
A universe with time zones, where US Monday becomes Europe Tuesday.
A universe with language variety, where people live in one language, dream in a nother one and watch in a number of them with or without subtitles.
A universe that challenges time nature, where a sniper's shot happens in a blink of an eye and a kiss can last forever.

  34. Did somebody say - they shouldn't have sex yet? Hey - they've been practically dating for 4 years. Usually by 4 months and before people say the ILY they do the deed these days. Yes - there were others. The starlets, models and stewardesses he didn't wait to have sex with. Then there's Miss "I've been to the S & M store" & "I'll show you my number .... yadda yadda." Four years - the ILY's have been said - once that wall comes down, there's so much sexual tension there - I would need a room with a Do Not Disturb sign for a week to get it out of my system! Just thinking about it - I have to go put cold water on my face.

    1. are we sure that he slept with Jacinda?

    2. I honestly dont think he did. This is a man completely and hopelessly in love with another woman! Quite presumably the Love of his Life.... So no distraction yes, but sex with Jacinda... highly unlikely.

      Delete
    3. I think Marlow left this to our imagination. Romantics will think that he didnt, sceptics think that both of them, Castle and Beckett slept with their dates...

    4. I don't know and I don't want to know, but I'll tell you guys this, if anybody ends up pregnant as a result of "revenge sex" I think that will be it for me as far as the show goes...that is a storyline I do not want to deal with!! You don't think they would do that...would they?

      Delete
    5. Anon 1:51- Nah, not even a remote possibility, imo. We saw Jacinda for exactly 10 seconds and I don't even think she had a line. Personally, I don't think Castle slept with her either. I saw an interview where Marlowe said in regards to Beckett and Ethan Hunt, he let the audience decide whether their "drinks date" led to anything more. I think Kate and Ethan sleeping together is even more unlikely thanCastle and Jacinda.

  39. What is that about west coast Castle fans turning off twitter? I thought everyone got to watch the episode at the same time in the US..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. West coast is 3 hours behind the East coast so East gets to see it 3 hours earlier.

      Delete
    2. True, but east coast primetime starts an hour later than the rest of us (8:00 instead of 7:00), so Castle airs at 10:00 EST (which computes to 7:00 PST)- hence why to turn off twitter at 7:45 PST :)
