If you’ve been following TVLine’s Ask Ausiello column – and really, why wouldn’t you be? – you’ve gotten clues about the Castle character who will be turning up at season’s end. And thus far you’ve heard that it’s someone with ties to a former regular.
Well, clues shmues — TVLine can now confirm that the person set to resurface in the May 7 season finale is the late Captain Montgomery’s wife, Evelyn (to again be played by Judith Scott).
What returns the widow to Beckett & Co.’s orbit? Here is what
series creator Andrew W. Marlowe revealed about the season-ending
encore. “Events force us to wonder whether the case we’re working on
might be linked to the Beckett’s mother murder case” – aka the
conspiracy-led cover-up that Monty was rather complicit in, and
ultimately died for. “We’ll be picking at that scab again.”

Loving the spoilers and everything, but there's not going to be much mystery left by 4x21 at this rate, let alone by 'Always'! Oh, the knowledge/surprise conflict.
ReplyDeleteYeah I am actually surprised they are going into so much detail about the finale since there is still 1 more month to go....! The anticipation is killing me slowly...
DeleteI am a little worried that they overstuffed the finale with all of the key emotional issues & maybe that's why they aren't promoting Headhunters & the zombie episode as much in comparison? Hopefully I'm wrong though.
They simply could be hiding something pivotal that happens in Headhunters and Dead Again that they want to keep under wraps. I'm not worried. The finale is the main event and will get more press because of that fact. I still have no clue what happens in the finale. They are being very vague, imo. I prefer it that way. I don't want to know everything that happens!
DeleteI meant UNDEAD Again...
DeleteThe title itself makes me think it has more to do with Caskett than zombies. Castle did say Beckett may as well be dead to him... now undead again could mean this is when the two start forgiving each other, especially since we're introduced to Cole Maddox, who has a connection to the JB case.
I can't wait for the final 3 episodes! I am loving this season!
I would be worried that they're giving us all these spoilers for the finale. I mean we know pretty much all of the important guest stars, that it'll be about Johanna Beckett's murder, that it's called "Always."
DeleteBut really, put all that together, and what do you get? A heaping pile of information that could go a million ways. So I'm not worries about spoilers anymore.
She has found something. She brings to Kate more han likly it has something to do with her shooting.
ReplyDeleteCalled that one ! I'm so excited for the finale!!
ReplyDeleteYeah I love how this site guessed the answer before the reveal. Though granted, I think she was the only character that made sense based on the clues.
DeleteI am worried they are spoiling so much about the finale because they know we will not be happy with the two episodes leading up to it.
ReplyDeleteClearly the storm of protest from the fans about the clumsy way they are handling Caskett is getting through. If there are any more episodes like Limey, they won't have an audience left by the time the finale lands.
Only themselves to blame. They've turned two of the most likeable and lovable (yes, I love Beckett, not ashamed to admit it) into a pair of very average and very unlikable jackasses in the space of two episodes. Not easy to do but Marlow has manged to do it.
Isn't that the beauty of these characters though? We are supposed to both love and hate them at times. Perhaps they have taken Rick's anger a bit far, but it seemed logical enough for me because of the way Kate's mind works. She is still hiding behind her wall despite wanting to tear it down with the help of her psychiatrist. They basically needed Rick to go AWOL upon discovering her secret to stay true to her character and to get her to come out of hiding and that's what they're doing. People will not agree with it but the creators of this show are and always have been aware that they simply cannot please everyone who watches this show and that they want to stay true to their characters.
DeleteWell said anon.
DeleteFunny. I still love Castle & Beckett and totslly get where each character is coming from with how they're handling things. I think AM is doing a great job.
DeleteWhat's unbelievable are the fans who complain about how nothing has happened this season still complaining now that things are happening. Make up your minds. Either they're boring and dull when they were happy in the status quo or they suck now that they are breaking the status quo or it s about time they are doing something to break the status quo.
You don't have to like everything the characters do, but you don't have to stamp your feet and raise hell when it's not what you wanted to happen. There's getting your point acrosd about why you don't like what they are doing that you don't like and then there's hypocrisy. This fandom is full of the latter.
We really don't know what we want.
I an glad Marlowe isn't listening to closely to the shippers because Caskett would only be having sex, kissing, teasing and flirting, and always happy in each episode and I would seriously throw my tv if that happened every episode. I prefer some angst and conflict thrown in to keep things really interesting.
I hate that sappy romance crap. Ugh! So glad Marlowe knows how to do angst and conflict so well.
See. Fans all want different things. I prefer seeing the characters face adversary and learn to overcome it and come out stronger in the end and then some prefer all gigles and smiles and laughs. I can only take so much of that before it gets old.
Castle & Beckett have 2 or 3 episodes where they have a falling out versus 17 or so of them getting along fine and this fandom can't take it and threaten to leave the show.
Marlowe...
Keep doing what you do. If you listened to us the show would've been cancelled a longgggg time ago.
Castle sucks!
ReplyDeleteSaid the man without a brain ... The zombie apocalypse is here! Just now!
DeleteROFL!
DeleteThey're giving us so much info about the finale but rarely anything about 4x22
ReplyDeleteOr 4x21 ...
Deleteworrying.
Don't worry. They did the same thing last year.
Deletewho cares? AM doesn't so why should you? Just filler episodes. Think about it. Each season only has maybe 5 or so episodes that mean anything as far as continuity or character development goes. The rest are just there to fill up the time slot, DVD, etc.
DeleteI disagree. No wonder you're disenchanted with the show. You aren't watching Castle if you think the filler episodes are without continuity. Even the filler episodes serve a purpose, but then I would be wasting my time trying to explain it to you.
DeleteWouldn't it be some irony if the Cole Maddox character infiltrates the 12th precinct b/c Castle decided he needs a break from them and tags along with slaughter? & Rick is the only person who knows THAT face!!
ReplyDeleteWont happen probably but just a thought.
Now that's a great theory. If Rick is not by Kate's side while tagging along with Slaughter does this mean he is risking the deal he has with Mr Smith and the Dragon being voided, putting Kate back in the firing line anyway? He was pretty clear with Martha back in Rise that he did not want to risk losing Kate again and would keep her away from her mother's case for her own safety. It will be interesting to see how Headhunters plays out!
DeleteRick's usefulness is not simply in being by Kate's side but in steering her away from investigating her mother's case, thus allowing Smith to fulfil his promise to Montgomery & keep her safe. If they catch a case that re-opens that line of investigation, it's unlikely all of Castle's charm or begging could hold Beckett back. She will clearly risk her life to go after the Dragon, but would she risk Castle's? He is Smith's pawn; I could see Smith using him accordingly...
DeleteAgreed. It would seem that Mr Smith does indeed have the ultimate goal of finally exposing this Dragon. Roy Montgomery never did have the courage to expose him because he was at the centre of the conspiracy that started all of this, which would reveal what had really happened to Bob Armen. Mr Smith is a friend of Roy's so I think he will look to avoid exposing Roy Montgomery's involvement in this, just like Castle and the detectives are hiding Roy's involvement from Captain Gates. According to Andrew Marlowe we are finally going to get clear answers in this whole conspiracy. It will be interesting to see how it all goes down.
DeleteMarlowe has never said we would get clear answers in the conspiracy... Just that, the case would be revisted and Rick's secret is dealt with.
DeleteI don't expect the case to be solved just yet.
Anon 10:13pm I wouldn t be so sure about how far Beckett is willing to go this time to go after The Dragon. She may contemplate going down that rabbit hole again and maybe even slip, but she could decide to choose a life with Castle than pursuing the case completely like she did last season, which led to her getting shot.
DeleteIf anything these therapy sessions are teaching her it's to get her to see that there are some things worth letting the past go for. I would hope she'd take her own advice that she gave to Hastings and to not let the past get in the way of her future
That would be an amazing ending to the finale if she decides to drop a lead to be with Castle, but things have a way of happening no matter how good our intentions are and then BOOM! We get an explosive cliffhanger that leaves us clamoring all summer for more!
You make some valid points re: therapy sessions and the hopeful prospect of a future with Castle being compelling reasons to not go Dragon hunting.
DeleteHowever, the biggest difference between Beckett and Hastings is the idea of vigilante justice vs. solving a mystery/righting a wrong. The Dragon is still out there, pulling strings and wreaking havoc on people's lives, and if they do, in fact, catch a case going back to him, how could they walk away?
You're right, I could see her letting go of the past, but I could not see either Beckett or must-find-the-whole-story-Castle letting go a present evil... I don't see them being happy together if they ignore new leads and tuck that case away, even to keep each other safe. Beckett trusting Castle to keep her out of the rabbit hole and them working the case together is what I would love to see.
Mrs M drops by the precinct with some home baked cookies. Castle offers to drive her home. They get talking....she's soooo lonely without Roy. A couple of glasses of wine, he's single and she's available.......next thing you know she's making him pancakes in the morning.
ReplyDeleteOK, seriously Mrs M has found a link to the Dragon and shows Beckett and Castle. Castle tells her they still have a chance to nail the Dragon with Smith's help. Whaa? Who's Smith? Leads to an argument which goes back to Beckett explaining her secret. A mole in the 12th tips off the Dragon. He sends in a cleaner to take out everyone with a bomb. They argue and have a renewed sense of understanding with one another: arrest Dragon, her wall comes down, their "ship" comes in while make up while a bomb ticks underneath their feet.
There, all secrets are out, they have a future planned and we have an explosive ending. Wait another 3 months to see who lived and how to reshuffle the cards.
Taking the bait schmucks?
Pancakes...how domestic lol
