Castle (ABC)
Airs: Monday, May 7 at 10/9c
When a new case picks at that pesky scab also known as Beckett's mother's murder (which Castle has secretly been investigating), Castle is forced "to wrestle with whether or not he needs to come clean about the secret that he's been holding from Beckett," creator and executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe says. Perhaps making the decision easier: The appearance of Battlestar Galactica's Tahmoh Penikett, who plays a mysterious man with a military background. (The military has snipers, right? Look out, Kate!) One way or the other, it sounds like they will air their dirty laundry. "Everyone is forced to put their cards on the table," Marlowe says. "They've been dancing around some issues. They've been living in subtext. …The cards that they put on the table last year didn't deal with how they felt about one another. [This year], everything comes out."

If I had a dollar for every time AWM mentioned cards and tables...I probably be able to buy Castle's Ferrari.
ReplyDeleteSo.tired.of.that.phrase. "cards on the table" Watch them play a game of poker and never talk about their feelings.
Deleteanon @ 04:28 PM
DeleteLMAO that's so believable it's hilarious.
@04:28. Amazing. Actually, now I kind of want them to do this...
DeleteIt seems so crazy that it almost seems plausible right?
DeleteIf the blind item is true, it could turn into strip poker...
DeleteAwww come on. I know, but this time he's talking about everything especially their feelings, so I'm hopeful. :) (PLUS ----> Blind Item :D )
ReplyDeleteShit just got real, ya'll.
ReplyDeleteAlright, alright, alright! soo excited!
DeleteSomeone throw something at Marlowe. Cards on the table! Again! Learn a new phrase!
ReplyDeleteI hope it's different, but with Marlowe, you never know, it may just be the same thing again...Marlowe needs to quit crying wolf.
I'm still not going to get excited, this is after all Marlowe here. Saying these things to get fans to watch, then it will just end up like last seasons. I hate that I don't trust him. And yes that line has been used too many times for it to mean anything anymore.
ReplyDeleteWow, lots of "glass half- empty" people here. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is the Castle fandom, after all. I was actually really excited when I read this. Yes, Marlowe has said "cards on the table" entirely too often, but this time he followed it with, "This year, everything comes out." (I'm assuming that he's including certain parts of Castle and Beckett's anatomy in that statement, because there's got to be a Caskett hook up coming soon!) Anyhoo, I really think that we're going to see Caskett confront both of their secrets in the finale and we'll get some real progression. I'm one of the believers that Ausiello's blind item is Caskett, so be happy everybody! It's gonna happen!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm looking forward to the finale--it'll be really interesting.
DeleteIt's still funny though how every article contains the "cards on the table" line though..lol
I hope they bring back Castle's poker group at some point :) Assuming she doesn't turn into an enemy, I think Gates would be a decent player too.
Ok I'm not American so I have to ask. Is it really possible that the blind item could be them. I mean aren't they many other shows with couples likely to hook up. I don't watch tv much so I don't know the competitors but I find it so hard to believe that it could be them. How come many of you think it's them? If it is, I might just faint while watching.
DeleteAnon 6:53, I really don't watch a whole lot of tv either, but from what I understand, the two most likely candidates for the blind item were a couple on the Vampire Diaries, and then Castle and Beckett. Ausiello ruled of the Vampire Diaries people with his clue that the couple is human. He's also said that the show is on ABC. I guess there are a few couples on ABC that could fit the bill, but the clues all fit Castle perfectly. Here's all the clues for those of you who haven't seen them. I should probably add a SPOILER ALERT with them.
Delete* The duo in question is on a popular network series.
* Their nookie will not be of the “dream sequence” sort — it’s for real, yo.
* Their boosters will be pleased.
* Well, most of their boosters will be pleased. A few will probably grumble that it’s too soon, and the show is skipping too many beats in the pair’s unrequited love story for their coming together to be truly satisfying. (Mind you, a few people were ALWAYS going to grumble, weren’t they?)
* The hook-up will take place during May sweeps. Okay, technically, that isn’t a clue. But it does seem germane, wouldn’t you say?
*The couple is human
*They are not officially dating
*They will engage in foreplay before "hooking up"
*It does not happen in a dream sequence
*It will take place in a house, apartment, or loft
*It will happen during the season finale
*The show is neither in its first season, nor in its tenth
*Some fans will be pleased, while some fans will say it happened too early
*The show is not on CBS
*The show is a drama
Also notice certain words that Ausiello uses, like: "yo, loft, always (which is italicized in the original clues) and nookie (Nikki and Rook)" All very reminiscent of Castle. I'm convinced it's Caskett!
Anon 8.25, thanks for that. I don't know much about ausiello or his work, but from what I've heard about him, he tends to troll and mislead. Could it be that he is strongly indicating caskett to throw us off, then actually it's another couple. If he is making it so obvious that it could be castle and Beckett, could it just be him messing around and teaming fans. Anyway hope to castle and Beckett.
DeleteSorry I meant teasing...hope it's castle and Beckett.
DeleteThe line that he keeps saying about laying the cards on the table, is prob from one interview he did and reporters just keep using the same line.
ReplyDeleteThis
DeleteSorry not expecting much from the finale. Oh the secrets will come out and not much more. Come on marlow suprise me.
ReplyDeleteIt's really depressing to read some of the comments in this site. Therefore, I have decided to wait until the finale to actually argue about it, cause it's useless right now.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you :) And if we can't trust AM, then can we at least trust NF and SK (along with a bunch of other members of the cast) who seem really excited about the finale? ;D
DeleteThough I didn't see the spoilers and what AM promised for the Season 3 Finale, I REALLY loved the s3 finale and my shipper heart exploded.
You know, if the finale doesn't live up to some people's expectations I'm pretty sure that Andrew Marlowe will be the only one who cops the backlash! All of these people will conveniently forget that both Nathan and Stana promised a great ending too!
DeleteThey did warn us at Paley Fest that the two of them were going to go through a "thing" before things got really, really good, which made the reaction to The Limey especially really funny. It's not like they didn't warn us!
I have enjoyed this season so far and I am happy enough with the interactions between Castle and Beckett. I am also looking forward to the really, really good stuff that they promised us would happen. Good on you for what you're doing Andrew Marlowe, you're copping quite a lot of flack for it but at least you are aware that there are still plenty of people out there happy with this show, despite a very large amount of the comments being of a negative tone.
Well Anon 6.20, when Nathan and Stana said it will be good, they were at paley and were in the midst of filming Limey. So they have gotten the scripts or an idea of how the finale will play out, but from Limey till the filming of always, scripts could have changed, so yeah Marlowe will cop it of it fails.
DeleteI think Marlowe has done a good job, but there are certain areas I wish he handled better, the secrets especially. I don't understand this whole thing. What's the Idea of finding out secrets if they person with the secret doesn't know it's out. I'm sorry I love the show, but I didn't like this part. Just my opinion.
Cmon how evil do you think Marlowe is?! You think he'd change up the complete idea of Always after showing it to the actors? I think if they did switch parts, it would be tweaks, not major events.
DeleteAnon 6.42 PM (Anon 6.20 PM here again), I would seriously doubt that Andrew Marlowe would drastically change the scripts on the actors. They may not have had the scripts for the finale by the time that Paley Fest took place, but you would have to assume that the actors/writers/creators are all on the same page continuously and know where they're heading. If the finale doesn't live up to the expectations of some people I sure do hope they don't focus their disappointment in Andrew Marlowe's direction alone, as that would show them to be hypocritical given that Nathan and Stana have promised a really, really good end to the season. What I'm saying is that if Andrew Marlowe is not above criticism then the actors shouldn't be either, but you can pretty much guarantee that the actors won't cop any criticism if the finale is not what people had hoped for!
DeleteOh good greif, let's watch the finale before we judge it. It might be amazing or it might disappoint a few fans, you never know. Yes the continuous line about cards on the table is irritating but I think AM just wants us to know nothing is being swept under the rug. Whether you trust AM or not, let's see the finale before we raise our pitch forks.
ReplyDeleteSome of the comments may seem negative, but forgive people since it's easy to get jaded over the course of the season.
DeletePeople often take the time to critique the things they love the most :)
All I can say is, I'll believe it when I see it...
ReplyDeleteditto
DeleteSounds like its gonna be an awesome final but there is nothing here that says anything different to what we have already read over the last couple of weeks. Give us some new information or spoilers lol
ReplyDeleteI hate having high expectations, but I really do think this finale is going to be different. For a lot of reasons.
ReplyDelete#1- It's called "Always." An extremely positive term. especially for this fandom. None of the other finale titles gave that type of hope.
#2- Beckett is actually READY. She knows how Castle feels, and she knows what she wants to do about it. She finally wants to talk about it. Never have we seen her so open and close to Castle.
#3- Marlowe has said that this season will end differently than all of the other seasons.. which have all ended badly. The opposite of bad is good.. am I right? That can only mean one thing. Deductive reasoning rocks. :-)
So.. many reasons that this finale will be different than all the other ones. Do not lose faith fellow Castle lovers.. we've still loved the show thus far, why would the writers want us to stop now?
This. ^ Totally agree. Especially about the title. Title's are overlooked.
Delete@anon 5:59 you sure have high expectations... I hope season finale turns out as you expect.. but AM is telling us all the cards will be revealed.. but does not tell us how they deal with it... I think kate & rick will not be a couple next season..
DeleteWhen I hear always, I always think of Bongiovani's song:
DeleteRomeo is bleeding = sniper shoots Castle;
Without you, I give up = Beckett puts gun to her head;
Romeo and Juliet, star crossed lovers....always
I've always hated Romeo and Juliet. Not a true love story, imo. Castle and Beckett's relationship is so much more real than 2 teenagers who knew each other for exactly 5 days, then committed suicide. Castle and Beckett really have a true love story- it just isn't finished yet.
Delete(This is the same person by the way) Marlowe also said that next season would go back to the fun episodes... that means something good has to happen in the finale, or they would be all dark like this season. I'm not saying they'll officially get together.. but it's definitely going to be a huge step closer (if not ACTUALLY together) then where they are now.
DeleteTotally agree that Romeo and Juliet didn't have a true romance.
no one said they died, just showed they we're willing to sacrifice everything for the other: If you told me to cry for you, I could
DeleteIf you told me to die for you, I would
Take a look at my face
There's no price I won't pay
they recover in season 5 and have fun: But baby if you give me just one more try
We can pack up our old dreams
And our old lives
We'll find a place where the sun still shines
Really Marlowe? Cards on the table! Hhmm where have we heard that before. Ok well I will wait and see before I pass judgement. Hope it's different like he says.
ReplyDeleteI'm not jumping for joy just yet. Marlowe has turned me into a skeptic with his words.
ReplyDeleteExactly...this.
DeleteMarlowe doesn't change us; he just magnifies who we are.
DeleteI want to be excited, but then i don't want to get my hopes up. Then I will just be disappointed. AM has said this before and nothing materialized, so it's hard to belief him now. Maybe he is just saying it to get the ratings. He knows what we want, th equation is, is he going to give it to us? I'd like to think yes, but it's AM, he loves messing with us. Just because all cards are on the table and they deal, doesn't mean they will move forward, they may say they now need time to heal from all the lies etc, and then another year of dragging this out. It's so tiring watching them nowadays.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting. I get there are lots of negative comments, and I think it's warranted to some extent, but remember, when fans come here and comment, be it good or bad, it just shows how much they love the show. If they didn't care they wouldn't be here. So I can take all the negative comments, at least fans are still here.
ReplyDeleteI agree that line has been used many a times, but I'm going to hope for the best here. I really hope that cards on the table this time around actually means something and moves them forward as opposed to last season.
On another note I can't believe how fast the season has gone by, and now were fast approaching the finale. And when is abc going to renew it?
A Malaysian fan...
It's already been renewed for season 5!
Delete@anon 7:46
DeleteWhen?
What?! Really? Wheres the link? I HAVE TO SEE IT WITH MY EYES and read that there will be a season 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deleteplease and thank u....XD
It's not official yet, guys. For the kajillionth time, ABC has not renewed any shows yet. They're waiting to see how their spring line up goes before setting up for fall.
DeleteI just googled tahmoh penikett, the actor playing the military sniper.... He seriously looks like he could play castle's brother! I don't know if it's just me, but they look similar! This is kind of way out there, but what if this military man who shot Beckett turned out to somehow be related to castle ( some family member he never knew about or something)? It's kind of a crazy thought, but there's a whole story with castle's father that we don't know anything about...if they're closing up much of beckett's mom's murder in the finale, it would make sense for them to possibly hint at/introduce a little more of castle's father's storyline....
ReplyDeletegoogle him shirtless. yummy. ;)
DeleteCastle is one of the shows that make mostly smart decisions IMO. Surely the plot sometimes do suffer from certain television cliches but overall there are much more positive and innovative decisions than horrible ones that just draggs the plot along needlessly. I have to say to some extent I am getting impatient but on the other hand I haven't lose any faith in the show yet. In the worst case scenario I will just stop caring about Caskett entirely and still watch the show. There are far more interesting things going on besides the main CP.
ReplyDeleteNot falling for this again. I will believe it when I see it. Trying to keep my caskett hopes for season finale low.
ReplyDeleteI really can't WAIT now.
ReplyDeleteHhmm can we believe this or not? Marlowe is hard to gauge. I just hope this finale is better than the last, that they actually talk and not just yell and walk away. And season 5 is better than this.
ReplyDeleteI hope this time something really happens. I'm quite tired of Marlowe's little teases and hints when it essentially leads to nothing. Cards on the table mean nothing if they don't do something about it.
ReplyDeleteI would like to be more excited about the finale but like some others, I have come to doubt Marlowe. Let's see how it all falls into place.
I will believe it when I see it. Them actually talking without subtext? Really? Wow that will be a huge accomplishment if it actually happens.
ReplyDeleteOh please I hope this is them really talking and not AM pulling one on us. Caskett needs to move to the next level, they are becoming boring now. Though I watch the show for its entirety, caskett really is the thing that pulls me, so I hope they fix that soon.i will be honest, I need more, things are very stagnant at the moment. I need something concrete from them.
ReplyDeleteHahaha most of the comments here show fans mistrust in Marlowe. Well as much as I love the show, I don't blame them, Marlowe has used that line way too many times to be taken seriously. Hope he delivers this time. Can't wait, zombies looks fun but I'm really waiting for always. But I'm not convinced that much will change. Marlowe will probably just repeat the beginning of this season next season, where they will decide to be apart even after their so called cards on the table. So he can then drag it out for another season. If he does that, I'm sure lots will still tune in, and be patient, but I won't be. It's time for them to get together, I want to see the fun and chaos of them being in a relationship, because we know it won't be simple and easy with them. That will be even more interesting than this dance. The dance was good the first 3 seasons, then this season, they took horrible steps and tumbled all over the floor. So yeah enough dancing, get to it.
ReplyDeletewell, cards were on the table for long time but never picked them.Marlow says he doesnt want to rush them but 4 seasons is a rush? and he is saying he knows where he is going but he doesnt mention when??(5.season,6.season or??)
ReplyDeletehe keeps giving hope to people that i understand he wants people to keep watching i am afraid this time there are to much expectations from finale if it doesnt satisfy people probably they will loose a lot of ratings next year.
like myself i stopped watching live and i didnt watch after 47 seconds waiting for finale and reading comments only.i watch this show not because of cases but only for characters.
this whole show about characters but mainly beckett/castle.let me ask a question do you think they are friends?(beckett,ryan,espo,castle,lanie...)well friends do go to bar, shopping, etc.i mean friends do something off work.in this show we never saw them together doing something except wedding.we simply assume they are friends aswell as they are partners. These are missing parts for me.it would be nice to see them spending sometime together not every episode but it could be several episodes.
anyway they have been giving a lot of promises we will see what is going to happen?
I don't know if we could believe the "Blind Item" is about Castle.
Deletewe also have other TV shows fitting (ABC, S2-S9, drama):
Grey's anatomy (S9)
Private Practice (S3)
Shark Tank (S3)
Body of proof (S2)
The Modern Family (S3)
I don't watch them, so if someone could tell if they fit ?...
I am pretty sure "Modern Family" and "Body of Proof" don't have a will-they-or-won't they couple of significance...so that rules out those 2 shows in my view.
Delete"Shark Tank" is a reality show..so I don't think the blind item applies.
I have never watched Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice...so I don't know much about those shows--but I don't remember seeing them mentioned on Top TV Couple lists. I think most of the popular characters aren't in a will-they-or-won't-they situation.
I was skeptical also about the Blind Item at first, but at this point I think Castle is the only show that fits all the clues.
Go ahead & believe the blind item :). All the hype since Paley Fest has been pointing to the C&B relationship heating up & getting naughty anyway. Stana Katic's spoiler-comments have been quite accurate so far.
Ah!!!
DeleteThank you
I'm glad and excited about "Always"
OK there is NO WAY you can call the season finale always and then not make them a couple next season. ALWAYS IS ALWAYS IS ALWAYS IS ALWAYS. that means never-ending. forever.
ReplyDeleteI think AWM treats the phrase "Always" very seriously, since it's C&B's equivalent of "I love you". He only has them say it in moments when they want to show they are completely devoted to each other.
DeleteSince "Always" is "I love you" in disguise, calling the episode "Always" means the writers want to show that Castle & Beckett will be focusing on the issue of their unspoken love. They will end up revealing their secrets and will finally realize that behind every "always" there was really an "I love you". That knowledge alone will cause them to look at each other differently, and bring them closer together than ever before.
Personally, I don't think we need to worry about C&B not getting together..they are inseparable at this point. I would have been more worried if they had called the episode "Partners", lol since that emphasizes their platonic colleague loyalty more than the romantic side of things ;).
Marlowe has never lied to us. Some of you musinterpret what is said and then blame him.
ReplyDeleteCaskett did put their cards on the table in season 3 and addressed their problem for THAT season... they weren't discussing things that happened between them and it was put out there and they had a much-needed fight that DID progress them in the end. Josh was out of the picture, Beckett aware that Castle had feelings for her, and Castle more determined to stop pretending he was okay with the status of their relationship, but then the shooting happened, which pushed them both into new territory.
This season has shown them more open and comfortable and once again addressing what they want from each other as Kate has healed from the shooting and facing those fears and insecurities that have always kept them aoart... and the secrets look to be on their way of progressing them again. Just because they aren't a couple now doesn't mean progression hasn't been made.
Some of you need to either be patient or turn the channel. This show is too clever for some of you, imo.
There's more to a relationship than just physicality. And once they become physical the relationship will continue to have problems they need to overcome. They are friends and partners as well as something more and i've enjoyed watching them grow and learn from their mistakes of the past and look forward to seeing more growth.
The writers can't give us everything in every episode. It HAS to be spread out over the course of the season and I love that there's always room for growth, as in life there usually is.
Some of you act like once they become a couple all there will be is fun, fun, fun. I'm sorry, but that is unrealistic even for tv.
I prefer the balance of fun and angst. That's more realistic, especially since most of this season has shown them to be acting too comfortable and complacent. It's about time shit got real. To see them fall down and learn to pick themselves back up and hopefully learn to walk side by side together in the end is refreshing to see instead of instant gratification after one episode of struggling. I hate tv shows like that. I love this journey. I have laughed, wanted to slap them both, and want them to get their shit together and dive in, but it has all made sense to me as to why they have danced around their feelings.
Thanks AM and I look forward to more cards being put on the table and expect them to continue to be challenged in the future. Castle isn't just a comedy. It is a crime drama as well. StaNathan have chemistry on every level in their relationship from partners to friends to possibly/hopefully more. This has been one of the best wtwt on tv so far.
Keep up the good work!
I totally agree with you... After all we can't ship them if they are happily together, now can we? And seeing them progress in their relationship is extremely nice
DeleteActually I don't think those complaining are saying anything about physicality, I don't remember reading that. All they are saying is that it's becoming boring, and I kind of agree on that level. What I found lacking in this season was realism on some ways, from their stagnant non communicative relationship, to being interrupted all the time when trying to talk, to cases like the two parter...all these lack realism. That's what annoyed me. I watch the show for everything, caskett, cases etc...
DeleteAnd I also think I read other comments where they say that it will not be an easy relationship, and that's what will make it interesting. So these fans are not thinking it wil be just fun as you put it, they know they will be problems, but yes I think they will be more interesting to watch as a couple because they are so different, and will argue and fight like normal couples.i want to see the evolution of caskett, I don't want to see smiles, and glances, and subtext forever...4 season of that is enough, now they need to evolve, it is the most realistic thing to do,
Realism?? It's a fictional tv show... people in relationships don't always communicate directly and hurt each other and are selfish and worse all the time, hence our high divorce rate.
DeleteSome couples have communication problems... it happens.
There's also a friendship and partnership involved that some fans don't even seem to care about, which is sad because I can enjoy Caskett when they simply work together to solve cases.
I want them to be a couple someday, but i'm in no hurry and feel Marlowe has done a great job progressing the ship and the characters.
He deserves a lot more respect than some fans give im.
And I disagree... some fans DO think that once they hook up it'll be just like seasons 1 and 2 and don't think there'll be issues for them to overcome.
That is an unrealistic viewpoint for some fans to have because no relationship is without some angst.
This fandom cries whenever something challenges the ship and act so immature and threaten to stop watching until the fun comes back.
That baffles me that some episodes are skipped over because the couple are fighting. Please tell me you haven't een this blog full of people complaining about Caskett when they fight or are in some funk of some kind.
Please don't try to pretend to find Caskett intereting once they become a couple all the while putting them down before they became official.
I don't even want to discuss the couple with those fans who didn't have the patience to see how they came together and dissed Marlowe every step of the way. Such phony fans.
Ugh.
Anon 5.02, You have to realize that not everybody watches for the same thing, some watch for caskett, some for cases, some simple becauses there's nothing else on. Just because they don't share the same enthusiasm as you do, doesn't make them phony. You may be enjoying it, but why is it so hard to understand that some aren't. I don't get that. Personally I am fine with the show, I watch for a mix of things, though I wish the secrets were dealt with better, but I'm still excited for the finale, but I don't think caskett is our blind item. Doesn't matter anyway, as long as they talk and move it along. But some some hard core fans have waited a long time, and yes so they skipped some episodes, so what? Why does that bother other fans. Sorry I don't mean to be rude, but I just don't get it. I watch every episode, but my friends don't, in fact they missed a number of eps is season because they felt it was too slow. And in some ways they are right. But I don't call them phony just because of that. I guess you must be very young hence that childlike remark. Why can't we just respect everyone's thoughts and if someone isn't happy with the flow, so be it, they are entitled to it. The show isn't perfect, so backlashes are a given. What amazes me is why some fans still fell the need to fight with those who disagree with them. I also know a few fans who have completely abandoned the show, they aren't phony, they just lost interest.
DeleteI still call them phony. How can you miss episodes and then complain about the characters not progressing or evolving? If you aren't watching, how do you know? Then when they get together, those same fans won't be satisfied. Some people make themselves unhappy. I feel 10 when I come to this site because most of you don't have anything good to say about the show AT ALL. Why waste your time discussing a show that's so terrible?
DeleteAnd i'm exoected supposed to want to discuss the show with these same people once Caskett hook up (whenever that may be) when they don't even like Castle or Beckett for whatever reason they tuned out in the first place.
Yes. Those are phony fans, imo.
Relationships aren't constant. They're good times and bad. If you can't stick around for the bad times and tune out for episodes, why would I want to discuss the show with you when you are clueless about certain parts of it?
Yes. I find that baffling and I don't understand it. Nor care to at this point. This fandom is too sensitive and a bit short-sighted. And full of psychics who can predict the future. If you assume the worse, nothing good will ever happen. A majority of this blog is that way. I wish the site was spoilers only like it used to be...
Anon 8.51, aren't you behaving like a 10 year old as well? Yes you are right, some fans including yourself are too sensitive and short sighted. It works both ways. You complain about fans who aren't happy. So you're complaining too right.
DeleteIn any case you will never know who you are actually having a discussion with here, so if someone who hates the show now, decides to love it next week, you will probably discuss the episode with that person, you wouldn't know that they hated it, so why does that even bother you. Maybe someone you have been discussion with on all good points hated lat weeks episode...again you won't know right. It's silly to make a statement about wanting to only discuss with loyal fans, because you don't know them.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next episode and the finale, and whatever negative or positive comments made. That doesn't bother me, after all it's just a show.
It is just a show.... whic is why i'm baffled by the, intensity of hatred from these people unhappy with the show. Find another show to watch. Why get so worked up if it's not going the way you want? I have tuned out of shows before that i've lost interest in and find the storylines tiresome. I don't go to fan sites and bitch and moan week after week after week after week like this blog does.
DeleteAnd I did say I feel 10 when I come to this blog, which is why I don't come here to read comments often, but when I do it's the sane negative nellies week after week after week.
I love this show. You can tell OBVIOUSLY who the loyal fans are and who aren't on this blog because the same people anonymously bitch and noan week after week. They are NEVER satisfied.
I'm done bebating it. I think this fandom is very immature and yes, myself included because it's hard to find a site that you can discuss the show because of all the negativity towards the show. Thankfully there are millions of casual viewers who don't come online that continues to tune in week after week in spite of a bump or two in the relationship.
Worse fandom i've ever been a part of overall. A bunch of ungrateful fans that I am glad AM doesn't cater to and continues to write his story. I don't even read the fanfiction because no ine writes the characters as well as Marlowe.
I spend more time defending the show and characters than discussing it because of these short-sighted, negative reactions. This show takes patiences as it's weaving a really good story.
Go watch The CW for instant gratification and people sexing it up and breaking up within episodes. I think the intelligence level of this blog is better suited for that sort of entertainment.
It's too easy, saying that some fans don't like where the show is going because it's too clever for them.
DeleteI am so sorry that not all of us are as smart as you, anon04:52AM
If you watch whole series you will understand why they are still not together. You can blame Marlow for many things but you must agree how great job he is doing with developing characters. I just rewatched few episodes from s2/3 and its amazing how Beckett and Castle changed since beginning. I think this 5 episodes story arc is lesson and test for them, if they "survive" this, they relationship will survive everything.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. The characters have come soooo far. I totally get what Marlowe is doing. I hope he keeps up the great job.
DeleteI have never viewed Castle and Beckett as a "will they, won't they" TV couple. I have ALWAYS viewed them as a "when they" couple. It was obvious in the very first episode that it was a matter of 'when'. It just so happens that WHEN is a very slow phase-in kinda thing. And that is why we all are hooked on their chemistry.
ReplyDeleteGood job! That's the key and that's the truth.
DeleteFrom season 1, ep.1, we all know that they will......someday!!....
This is THE "when" point which matters.
I'd like it happening on may 7th though but I'll keep on watching the show if it doen't happen cos it's a pretty good TV show.
PatHyp
Yeah I agree completely. I started watching the show in season 3, and I at first I thought they were old flames or something. The way they would bicker & tease each other..it was if they were already married...haha.
DeleteI don't mind that 'when' has been slow, but my concern is that dragging it out too long makes things becomes unrealistic after a while. As long as the leads don't lose hope and the "chase" remains fun and exciting, it can carry on.
The danger in this season was that the leads started to worry and lose hope about the relationship. Also Castle admitting his ILY marked a point of no return in their relationship. It is really up to Beckett now to respond in kind with her own ILY, and restore Castle's hope in the relationship...otherwise the cycle of heartbreak will continue which would really hurt the show.
I think the drama in this season was sufficient for C&B to finally get together, and I think Andrew Marlowe does to. As he said, things started looking really bad over the last few episodes in order to get really good--so I think our patience will pay off in the finale ;).
If they are Ausiellos blind item then I don't think we have much to celebrate because Ausiello said they skip to many beats to be truly satisfied and he said how the hook up comes down is fair to say fans will either love it or hate it there is no in between. How can a Castlefan something good hate. I think we have to wait for Season 5 Premiere to get everthing sort out. My hope is that Mr.Marlowe give us at least a few minutes of happiness Rick and Kate deserve that and we loyal fans too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe some fans will hate this because they skip beginning phase? No first real date, no first real kiss etc., they just throw them to the bed?
ReplyDeleteI don't think they could do that.... Maybe no first real date, and whatever, but I do think we'll get a first kiss at least!!!
DeleteMaybe it's after the kiss, things got rushed out...
Well Marlow always does everything different when things comes to Caskett...
DeleteWell, I don't see how throwing them into bed would be skipping anything. After 4 years and all the time they've been waiting it would be the most natural thing to do. They didn't just meet, they don't need to go out on dates or get to know each other. They are in love, and probably can't wait to jump on each other. They wanna do the dinner and movie thing later on, that's fine for me, but I would find it very unbelieveable if they decided to take it slow and just hold hands..
ReplyDeleteAtro
They even cant openly and honestly talk to each other about feelings so how they could just throwing them into bed just like that? It will be very unnaturally if they do this and I bet many fans will be disapointed if they go in this direction.
DeleteAnon 10.51 AM, think of the Castle/Beckett relationship and their sexual tension as like a bottle of fizzy that's been heavily shaken up over time. Once the lid on that bottle gets opened (ie, both of them admitting how they feel about each other to their faces), we are going to see a burst of action between them if the blind item from Auseillo is true and it is Caskett that get their freak on. All that built up emotion will likely escape in a huge rush (like fizzy escaping from a bottle that's been shaken up) and so therefore it isn't unrealistic from my point of view if they jump into bed and get their freak on.
DeleteI absolutely agree 8:56 and 12:00. I think once they do hop in bed everything else will fall into place. I feel like that's what's going to happen (could be my wishful thinking), but there are many fans like 10:51 who will be taken aback by it. I think that's what the interviews about the finale mean about how some will love what happens and others won't.
DeleteNot to throw a wrench at all those excited for the Blind Item, but it absolutely fits Grey's Anatomy (Season 8)with two separate couples.
ReplyDeleteJackson Avery and April Kepnar: These two have been friends and roommates for a couple of season. Avery has spent much of that time with Lexie, and I believe Kepnar's still a virgin. Per this latest promo, they're hooking up quite abruptly:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGvRhIOpZos
In that same promo, you'll see what most fans believe to be Webber in bed with Avery's mom (also a doctor). This isn't as big of a deal as some, but this story line will likely be about Webber finding love a second time around.
Neither of these pairings have any real foreplay outside of two people being really good friends.
I'm wary of the Blind Item, too, because I don't want us all to be expecting Caskett to fall into bed in the season finale only to be sorely disappointed. Still, I can't see which other couple it could reasonably be. I don't watch Grey's anymore (used to love it, though) but I've kept current of who's who and what's going on bc my sister still watches. Anyway, I didn't realize there was ever really anything going on with Avery and Jackson...are they a very popular couple? I mean, are they at the forefront of the show where their will they/won't they has been hyped up for awhile now? Plus, Ausiello says the hook-up will take place during May sweeps...this promo is for this Thursday's episode, right? So, maybe it counts, but it's just shy of sweeps.
DeleteI think the same can be said for Webber's hook-up. Is this a couple people have been waiting to see get together? Jackson and Avery, from what I gather, aren't really on the level of what Derek and Meredith were back in the day or even the whole Lexie/Mark saga, right? So, would Ausiello make this big stink about a couple who's more of a B storyline than an A storyline? I can't be sure because you never know with someone like Ausiello whose job it is to get people talking and watching...but he has built this Blind Item up so much that it does seem to be more about a couple that's at the forefront of their popular show.
I also thought it was interesting that, about a week ago, when Ausiello was taking and answering questions about the Blind Item on Twitter, he didn't answer but *favorited* a tweet in which someone asked if the couple was Beckett and Castle. Ausiello has favorited exactly 3 tweets in his Twitter history, and that was one of them. Now, did he favorite that tweet as a way to give us a direct answer on the sly? It's possible. Or is he just screwing with us? It's hard to tell, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
Maybe I just want it to be Beckett and Castle so badly that I have tunnel vision right now. I don't know. I've been very cautious about rejoicing over the Blind Item because I know how misleading stuff like this can be. I don't want to be disappointed. I don't want the fandom to be disappointed...and I don't want AWM to take the heat that will inevitably come with the backlash that's sure to follow.
Anyway, I guess anything could happen right now. It's just a matter of waiting to see how it all unfolds, I suppose.
I feel you, woman. And let me say that I hope they put them together if only to reward you and you alone for your faithful efforts in having their creative backs.
DeleteYou've been infinitely more faithful than I have been. I stopped 'shipping after Cops & Robbers, and really am quite over Caskett unless the chemistry picks up.
But YOU, Elena, have displayed no such fair-weatheredness. I marvel at your devout loyalty. It is every writer's dream to have such a faithful missionary among their fan-dom.
So it is for people like you that I hope this Blind Item really is Caskett. My motives for watching shows like this are a little different since I write for a living. I watch a little more strategically rather than for entertainment, which means the technical part of me sees this show in a death spiral unless they give it some fast and furious CPR.
The first step in the CPR would be to make Caskett the Blind Item. I hope they do it, not only for people like you--who have constantly advocated the show's potential--but so they have a shot at Season 6.
I'm crossing my fingers for you!!!
Hey she-ra it's nice to get a pro's insight. I'd really like to know what makes you see this show in a death spiral. Is it the pace?
DeleteSandra
Hi Sandra,
DeleteIt's a cocktail of things that could quite quickly turn into an essay. And the beautiful part of it is that you could probably tell me at least half of the items I would list.
Why? Because humans are storytellers. All of us. We learn through trial and error what works and what doesn't work from the moment we start to speak. A 3 year old on the counter reaching for a cookie jar learns very quickly that no one believes it when they say they were just trying to pet the dog. They need a better story, or they need to tell the truth.
Since we almost universally go through the same processes and experiences while learning to tell story, we also tune into storytelling in other mediums on a similar, primal level. When being entertained we may prefer certain types stories over others, but the point is this:
We all know what flies and what doesn't. We also know when we're being strung along. Musicians encounter backlash when they release weak albums while touting them as amazing. Movies encounter this when they cram the only good parts of the movie into a trailer, promote the heck out of to get as many people to go opening weekend so they can get as much of their money back as possible before word of mouth gets around that the movie sucks.
I'm not saying that Castle is guilty of either of these, although we can see the backlash of AM over-promising in interviews and under-delivering on the screen. But that's really only an issue with people who seek out those kinds of interviews.
The issue is the storytelling. And I'll bet you that if I turned your question back at you and asked you why every 18-45 female Castle fan I personally know has stopped watching the show at some point during Season 4 (after religiously watching the first 3 seasons), you could tell me.
I also bet that you'd be right.
Maybe not all of us write stories for a living, but the writer who doesn't make the assumption that their reader/viewer essentially has a PhD in how the story SHOULD go, and where breaking the rules raises the stakes rather than creating a disconnect, is setting themselves up for a short career.
And, professionally speaking, I thinking Castle's breaking the wrong rules--and that if they don't stop it, no one will really be all that sad to see them go if ABC drops the axe. :(
After such a great beginning and premise, that would just be way sad.
So, Sandra, what do you think the show needs to fix to get my friends watching again and me to stop talking like some angel of doom?
Wow, thanks for this artful yet subtext-heavy answer..! I don't know what they should fix, since the story has worked for me so far, based precisely on what you define as " great beginning and premise.
DeleteIt's the characters and especially beckett's backstory (the reason of her wearing the watch and necklace is one of the most touching character depiction of all TV for me). Mind you I started season 4 only a few weeks ago, as I don't live in America (watched up to ep 11) but I like coming here to check comments and spoilers on new eppies.
With respect to the writing, I can see a certain amount of dragging out the romance but also a fair amount of continuity in the images/phrases used. But could you explain what rules have been broken?
Sandra
Hi, She-ra. I have to say that I appreciate your professional insight as to why Season 4 has fallen flat for some viewers. Personally, I've enjoyed this season. I haven't loved every single episode, but I'm more along the lines of Elena, the eternal shipper and optimist. I don't know what rules Castle is breaking, but I think I do understand why this season has not worked for many people.
DeleteFirst, Marlowe and his team gave us huge expectations for season 4 after Castle's ILY bomb, but then left it hanging in the background up until 47 Seconds. Even now that Kate's secret it out, it hasn't been fully dealt with. I know a lot of people sat down to watch each episode in the hopes that either Castle or Beckett's secret would come out, and we'd get some forward progression. While we did get progression this season, most of it was too subtle for casual viewers to take much notice of it, and too little to satisfy most shippers.
A lot of people feel that this has just dragged the relationship out past the point of believability. It doesn't feel real to them anymore. Beckett asked Castle in Rise to step back and let her heal. She did this through Marlowe's favorite literary device- subtext, and once Castle let her have her space, a lot of people took this to mean that he didn't love Beckett anymore. This feeling became even more intensified during the 2 parter and the Limey.
As a major shipper and fan, there was only one thing this season that I have truly disliked (aside from Heartbreak Hotel;), and that would be the conversation between Kate and Sophia. Even I couldn't look past that little chat. Marlowe broke the 4th wall and warned us that we think we know what we want, but we'll be disappointed after we get it. That didn't sit right with me, and it completely broke the flow of the episode. It didn't feel natural for Sophia to say what she did, and even with Kate's "Sophia told a lot of lies," sentiment at the end, it felt like a "Don't say I didn't warn you," message from Marlowe.
I also think the characters of Castle and Beckett themselves have been an issue with fans this season. I've read many comments where fans aren't convinced that the characters would act a certain way. Castle's reaction to Beckett's secret and Beckett's chats with her therapist (and Lanie), for instance. Some fans thought those scenes in particular were out of character. I've also seen a lot of "Team Castle," and "Team Beckett" posts, as well. These two are supposed to be in love, and the writing of their characters has caused some fans to choose sides- not exactly ideal for an epic love story.
I could probably list more examples, but I think I've captured some pretty significant ones. Like I said, this isn't how I feel personally, but just what I've gathered from other viewers by reading fan sites and blogs all season.
She-ra, I'd love for you to tell me whether I'm correct in my assumptions, and to please explain what rules Castle has broken. Thanks!
-Lindsay
Lindsay, I just wrote a freakishly long essay, but I think I'll save your from reading it.
DeleteJust keep enjoying the show. That's what it's there for :) I think we both hope my "professional" opinion is wrong. And as long as there are happy, vocal fans that tune in every week, I will be.
So keep it up, and I'll try to shut up... ;-)
She-ra, I'd be happy to read your essay, but I understand why you won't post it ;) I'll be one of those fans tuning in every week, no matter what. Unless of course, Castle or Beckett gets killed off- then I'm out. Still, for the sake of my sanity, please keep posting because it's refreshing to read comments with actual reasoning behind them, rather than just pure hatred and anger toward Marlowe.
Delete-Lindsay ;)
Oh come on we ain't afraid of no long essay! ;-) please bring it on!
DeleteSandra
I totally agree with your post She-ra. Marlowe risks sending this show into a death spiral if he continues in the same way as he has been doing, especially this season. The writing, the pacing, the continuity the direction, the lack of decent emotional beats, it's been poor in my view.
DeleteAnd as Marlowe is the creator of the show and the power behind the scenes then he has to take the criticism I don't see it can be any other way.
It's nice to have a professional writer comment as it's always interesting for me to hear what you have to say. That's not to suggest that any of the fans that visit this great site don't have equally valid and interesting opinions obviously!
^^ Totally agreed. And the truth of the matter is that the reason I'm on these boards in particular is because I'm a fan at heart.
DeleteSo rather than lay out a convincing essay as to why I'm ever-so smart, how about I link to something everyone can enjoy instead?

True, but Avery and Kepnar hardly have an unrequited love story. And if it turned out to be them then Ausiello would be the biggest A-Hole to ever live because let's face it, they want us to think it's one couple, and one couple only now.....Caskett. And if it's not, then it will be the most epic of all fails in the history of epic fails.
ReplyDeleteLol. Indeed that would be fun backlash to witness :)
Deleteunrequited ?
DeleteDo we can tell Caskett is an unrequited love story ?
What does mean ?
(Lanie and Esposito ?)
Unrequited= one-sided, unrequited, or a relationship where one person loves deeply while the other does not (i.e., one considers them just friends and wants to see other people, while the other wants to make babies).
DeleteWhi, btw 9:40, I really think a case could be made that Kepnar's love was unrequited by Avery for a long time. The show doesn't focus on her, but she was always quite agitated and put out whenever she saw Avery and Lexie together. SHe was clearly very jealous while Avery didn't notice because he was focusing on Lexie...
DeleteJust pointing it out. I'd be happy with the blind item being Caskett, but I also know that AM has bed-phobia, while Grey's has no such fear of believing that hitting the sheets being a show killer.
Don't we already know the Grey's people are going to get it on based on showing it in the preview already? And, isn't that NOT happening in the finale? And do those two really have "boosters" seeing as though they've never had any super obvious romantic plotline with each other? Plus, not saying it's Caskett (just hoping) there are an awful lot of "Castle-esque" clues alluding to it being them. So if it really isn't them, they sure are trying to make us think it is. And that's just cruel. But agreed with She-ra about AM not being a big bed hopper kind of show....but Lanie and Espo got some bed time? Why not Caskett, the main point of the show, who we've been dying to get here for 4 years? Just excited for an epic finale though, so whatever happens I just hope it's amazing and we aren't left stewing for a whole summer on their romantic state lol.
Delete^^ I'm there with you. I won't lie that I would love to have it go down that Castle's secret comes out, Kate gets all tight lipped and says they'll discuss it after work--in private. Then, when they're alone and Castle thinks he's about to be ripped a new one, she jumps him. Then they get up the next morning and finish off the rest of the finale.
DeleteCaskett being the Blind Item would be fun, real, and rewarding.
BUT like many, I'm not putting eggs in that basket. I'm ready for anything, from the ideal to the depressingly lame. So far this season has been a whole lot of lame, so it seems best to just stay on that wave length and wait to see what AM considers a rewarding, surprising payoff. Because getting Kate to tell Castle she loves him with a kiss to seal the deal seems like his version of a season-ending climax. Slow as a yawn. Either way, the beginning phase of their relationship will take place over the break, off screen, unless Castle takes a bullet for Kate and spends the summer in a coma with her fretting by his side.
Again, yawn.
But they did plant that scene back in the psychic episode that "Alexander" was really important and would save her life. Don't know if they stuck that in there since he's saved her life going on a dozen times now, or if they want it to be some big event.
Either way, I'm going to pretend the blind item is Grey's until I actually see a naked Beckett and a naked Castle between the sheets together with their lips locked. Less room to get pissed off with those expectations.
HAHA! Naked, lol. Ditto though,I mean, you kinda do have to set low expectations just to be surprised with something that would actually make sense for the show, except they never go the direction that makes sense in our heads? And miss a lot of opportunities. Lets cross our fingers and not hold our breath, although if it was epicness that would be amazing. But we get promised alot, and have little payoff or waht they think is payoff and we're like...ummm?
DeleteFirst off, I'm so looking forward to the next two eps. I thought Headhunters was a lot of fun. It returned to what the show has always done well, which is meta-reference pop culture, solve a murder mystery, with a great deal of humor, some fun group dynamics, and then add the usual spark of Caskett. The Zombie ep looks like it will continue on those strengths, especially in helping to set up the finale by positioning Castle and Beckett accordingly.
ReplyDeleteAs for "cards on the table." Completely agree that it sounds like a sound bite given during one interview that gets continually sourced and quoted by articles looking to get hits on their sites during breaks in broadcasting.
I remain skeptical about Caskett being Ausiello's blind item. I don't watch enough other dramas to have an opinion on what others might better fit, but I'm just not entirely sold that it's Caskett.
Marlowe has been very carefully and deliberately pacing the relationship progress with a near one-move per episode approach. I don't suddenly see them hooking up in the finale. That doesn't mean that they don't have the mutual realization of "I love you (always)," nor does it mean that they won't still get naughty, as Stana so cutely put it. I could see the show doling out the drama of secrets and maybe some physical connection and affection accompanying, but I also wonder if an actual hook-up might not be something that Marlowe would hold for Season 5 instead.
That would be a way to keep on with the staged pacing he's adopted, would also be a way to entice viewers back, because let's face it, hooking up does change things in a significant way. "I love yous" could be the first half, a hook up the follow up - it is gonna be a cliff-hanger after all.
For those bemoaning the pacing, part of me agrees, but part of me also completely gets what Marlowe's been going for. My main beef has been with the way Castle and Beckett's respective secrets had been left largely dormant thru the season - I wasn't necessarily looking for progress, but at least an acknowledgement that such things had not been forgotten.
I also didn't like some of the choices the producers made, with regards Esplanie (useful to reflect Caskett and IMO they dodged a bullet in deciding not to put them together more permanently as a surrogate show-relationship while Caskett was being sorted out), nor was I a fan of Intern-Alexis (gratuitous and easy way to keep the character involved). Didn't foresee how Kate and Rick would respond to their respective challenges in the Limey, even if it was well done. Just wasn't how I saw the characters.
But they're Marlowe's characters. And he's long had a plan. Fillion & Katic and the rest of the cast are suggesting the finale will be emotionally epic.
So, I'm just happy to see what happens.
So Marlowe has finally admitted that he's been making his characters speak through subtext endlessly - thanks for that. It's been a constant irritation all season that no one talks on this show and now he's admitted that he does it deliberately.
ReplyDeleteInstead we get raised eyebrows and long glances and innuendo but nothing actually happens to advance the plot along and I have to be telepathic to guess what they might be thinking and feeling. And I groaned when I saw that "the cards are going to be laid on the table" AGAIN. Please spare me this trite phrase, you can try and fool people once too often. I'm fed up with him continuing to tell fans that finally everything is going to come out and be discussed - and nothing important happens and he resets everything back to square one and starts with a new roadblock to keep them apart each season.
Throw in the constant ridiculous interruptions which again stop any dialogue occurring and the glaring lack of continuity and this season has been a very sad disappointment for me. As a long time fan of the show I just hope Marlowe has finally realised he can no longer keep saying these things and just assuming we all have short term memories.
I want Rick and Kate to actually talk to each other like normal people tend to do and make some concrete decisions about their relationship. Is that too much to ask?
As for the blind item from Ausiello, I'm not getting my hopes up, I think too much is going to be put into the finale in any case to do justice to a love scene frankly. After all this time dragging it out, I would hate for them to rush it and it's over in like 2 minutes!
So I guess it's fair to say that I come under the section of fans frustrated by the show this season, here's hoping season 5 sees Marlowe regroup and resurrect the show to what it was in terms of quality in seasons 1 and 2 with great cases and fun banter.
He has the actors in Stana and Nathan, he has the backing of the network (for now) so please lets get back to the great times we used to have with these two, I'm all for drama but this season has just been unnecessary doom and gloom and it's sucked the life out of the show with the awful plodding secret story arc which still hasn't been dealt with in any detailed way since RISE.
I realise it's Marlowe's show and as the creator he's perfectly entitled to do as he pleases and what any of us think is immaterial but he should remember that the audience can very quickly vote him off with the TV remote if they see fit and find another show that delivers what they want.
these interruptions are running gag, Marlow just poking fans by using them LOL
ReplyDeleteI figured as much, I just wish he had made some of them more lighthearted or more life-threatening...no point needlessly torturing both the audience & the characters...
DeleteI can understand fans being skeptical about how this season will conclude, but I don't agree with those who are being cynical (you know who you are and what I mean).
ReplyDeleteThere have been some interesting hints being made at and since Paley Fest about how Season 4 will conclude. Both Nathan and Stana said that it was about a 12.9 out of 10 for Caskett Fans. Stana has been known as a shipper, while Nathan has been taking a cautious route and I think this was a deliberate marketing ploy to have both actors portraying different viewpoints during interviews they did this year. Also in Paley Fest, Andrew Marlowe very cryptically said "it's 2012, people fall into bed". Couple this with the Michael Auseillo "blind item" that appears to be strongly hinting that it is indeed Caskett that get their freak on, then we could very well be heading towards a conclusion that has us jumping for joy.
I feel that the secret's ultimate goal was to get the two of them to realize how much they love each other and to stop tip-toeing around their feelings. We are still going through that rough patch they warned us about. Once Rick's secret is out and the dust settles then we will see them reach a new level in their relationship (one that includes a bit of nookie).
My thoughts:
ReplyDeleteFirst off, thank you to the people smart enough to realize that "cards on the table" was said once or twice and further quoted. I doubt AM is interviewed before writing every synopsis.
I strongly believe the blind item is referring to Caskett... he 'favorited' someone's question on twitter when he had a Q&A and they asked if it was Castle/Beckett. And I feel like he's gone out of his way to answer questions that would rule anyone else out (like it being humans and the network it's on). If it's not them then Ausiello is being SOOO mean, which is still a possibility.
Many people take Aus's comment about "being too soon" as a sign that it's not Caskett, but I have a feeling that when (if) it happens it's gonna be clumsy and rushed, which is going to upset some of the fandom. I, personally, have always thought that's how it should be. They need to "get it out of their system" first.
Say what you will, but I still don't think Kate is ready to acknowledge what Castle said, but since he's pulling away she has no choice. She obviously loves him, I just don't see it in the characters to have a super mushy conversation about it.
There have been speculations that Castle & Beckett are gonna get engaged for that surprise factor, but I would be sooo mad. I feel like that is WAY out of character, and Castle has been married twice - I doubt Beckett would take it so lightly.
I don't see Kate saying ILY to him either or in any way declaring herself. She has shown scant interest in pushing things forward, it was only when it looked like Rick was about to leave her that she started to get upset and talk to her therapist and even then she couldn't make up her mind what do do!
DeleteI just don't feel that Marlowe has convinced me enough that she really loves this man to make a play for him, she seems to expect Rick to do all the leg work whilst she sits there. That hardly screams huge love to me.
Headhunters was typical of that, she does nothing but is upset, she doesn't tell Castle she doesn't want him to go off, so he does, she initially does nothing but then he does the hard work for her by getting into trouble she then comes in to rescue him but she still doesn't have to say anything or make any declarations to him - so he just crawls back and apologises to her as good as.
So she is back to having him under the thumb but still nothing has been said, no ILY's and no apologies given.
I have a feeling that the love scene if there is one will be rushed and not as wonderful as people think, there will probably be some heated row with now real discussion about how they feel and then they will hit the bedroom.
For me that is not a good way to watch these characters finally consummate their relationship, I would rather they didn't go there than have this happen, so I am crossing my fingers that Marlowe's flippant comment about people falling into bed all the time does not apply to Rick and Kate.
And I hope Kate finally has the guts to tell Castle she loves the man, it's the least she can do after 7 months of inactivity. I won't be holding my breath though! She just doesn't seem to want to give him any encouragement in that regard, poor Rick has to dine out on emotional scraps from her.
I agree -- Beckett's inaction has been rather frustrating this season. However, it's in her nature to be cowardly about emotional matters. She is generally incapable or terrified of expressing how she feels, so at times I have also felt she was treating Castle too coldly. Despite this, I think Beckett's saving grace is in her acts of loyalty.
DeleteBeckett has always put her job first, but I think that at this point it's clear she would risk both her career and her life for Castle. In "Cops and Robbers" she does everything she can to rescue Castle, and even volunteers to go into the bank unarmed.
"Headhunters" is especially important since she helps Castle work on Slaughter's case at the risk of suspension even though he suddenly left her to work with another cop.
It's true that Beckett wallowed in her own depression and mistreated Castle as a result...but she has slowly opened up since then. In the latter half of the season she would grin and smile at Castle all the time--it was obvious she was smitten.
I think by the finale Beckett will finally tell Castle ILY. They would have to save a moment like that for the finale anyway, since admitting that would be a HUGE deal for Beckett.
I'm not so sure about that.
DeleteWhen Josh rescued her from the freezer she didn't have a problem draping herself all over him in front of a couple hundred cops & emergency responders.
She didn't have a problem kissing Deming and making plans for a dirty weekend with him at the precinct in full view of Castle & the other cops.
And her declaration of past love for Mike Royce had everyone listening in while tracing the call.
Seems her emotional cowardice is a tad selective.
I think the control freak in her likes having Castle puppet strings to pull. "Are you coming Castle".
In fact she treats the other men in her life, Esposito, Ryan, Montgomery, her dad, Josh, and Deming with a ton more respect than Rick ever gets.
Not the best basis for a long term relationship in my opinion.
Is it true that we treat the people we truly love different than others? Even if in a bad way.
DeleteI seem to recall that (after she dumped Demming), she was all set to tell Castle she wanted him, right in the middle of the precinct, with her team all lined up watching from the windows. Once burned, twice shy.
DeleteJust coming back to say (I was anon 2.46PM) that I agree with the 7.06PM that Kate comes off as cold to me and that can make her appear mean and also put her in a poor light. It's as if she's almost contemptuous of Castle and he's so the doting guy around her but you could freeze ice cubes on her ass to coin a phrase at times! I'm not blaming the actress because she's only working with what she has but they need to make Kate more effusive and loving towards him because if a guy friend of mine was being treated like she treats Rick I would be telling him to dump her and go looking for better.
DeleteStana said in an interview earlier this season that Kate is "crazy" in love with Rick, well I have great trouble reconciling that view with what I see on screen.
I agree with 7.46 PM if she continues to treat Rick like she treats all the other work men in her life it will not bode well for any loving relationship. She seems to have no trouble in hooking up with Demming, Josh and the like or having PDA in the precinct with her lovers but Rick gets nothing but a smile and he has to bring her coffee - and that's on a good day!
So come on Kate, show us you really love the guy, if she's not confessing all to him come the finale I shall be pretty fed up.
Love is meant to be a two way street, with her it's all one way traffic.
'PDA' with Demming and Josh makes sense since they were, as you pointed out, her lovers. I imagine we'll see that with Castle once he enters those ranks. We see Beckett struggling with finding the right moment. To me, it doesn't make sense to expect to see more than smiles (and pretty spectacular ones, at that), shoulder bumps, and the occasional hand hold until she and Castle have some sort of conversation figuring out what they are. That is, aside from always having his back.
DeleteI think the reason Kate was more comfortable showing Josh and Demming physical affection was because they didn't mean all that much to her. Like she said to both of them, she liked them both...they were nice guys (well, I think Josh was a dick but that's beside the point)...but she knew those relationships weren't going anywhere. I also don't necessarily think that her being physically affectionate with them or agreeing to go away w Demming was her showing true emotion for them. What Beckett does for Castle...putting her badge on the line to help him out of his jam with Slaughter, going through therapy to make herself "better" so she can be with him, etc...to me, that's when she shows true emotion and affection.
DeleteTo me, she never showed Demming or Tom true affection or put herself out there emotionally for them.
She has yet to tell Castle she loves him or take him to bed with her...BUT, to me, she has shown him how much she loves him over the years in ways that are hard to count. I do think, though, that she is going to tell him exactly how she feels in the season finale. Personally, I'm really proud of how far she's come since Season 1 and especially since Rise.
Yeah but after Limey episode honestly I lost my enthusiasm. So if they will have some misunderstanding, fight or whatever in their future relationship Castle will look for 'comfort' with some bimbos? And I just hate Beckett call to this Hunt guy 'for a drink'. This episode is so wrong on many levels and left bad feelings. Marlow said that they grow up in s4 but I dont see this.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that every second of Castle is purposeful and intended. They don't do certain scenes for a matter of like 10 seconds because they need that time SO much. So instead of saying "I lost my enthusiasm over the arc" why not say "why would AM want to make us feel this way, why would he use up his precious 42 minutes to make us feel this way about Caskett?" i believe AM probably loves to tease his viewers, but would he waste a WHOLE episode just to do so? after all, though he has control of the show, he also is in control of a very POPULAR show and i dont think he would do anything just for the hell of it, especially something that would lose fans.
DeleteYes but Limey was a horrible, horrible episode.
DeleteWho the heck liked it? I watched it twice and that was two times too many.
Horrible.
I enjoyed Limey because it's very dramatic and in a messed up way they are working through issues... C'mon seriously AM may like to pull our pigtails but he KNOWS how people ship Caskett and he wouldn't hold them apart forever because he knows that he would lose so many viewers.
DeleteSo maybe think, why would AM put us through such a horrible episode? Obviously he knows what he's doing, he's made a show that's survived, with popularity, for 4 seasons. So he must have a plan of what's going on. there must be a reason that he's putting us on this emotional rollercoaster. wouldn't you agree? AM isn't a stupid man.
Are you taking a poll? I loved The Limey (minus the bad accent). It had plenty of humor, Beckett admitting outloud that she's in love with Castle, and a decent case. It was interesting to me to see how two people respond when presented with a situation that makes them want to seize the day while simultaneously realizing (mistakenly so) that they cannot attain their dreams. Distractions, distractions, distractions. No, 47 Seconds is hard for me to rewatch, mostly because there is no comedy and much depression, though I do think it was well done. I do, however, enjoy The Limey.
DeleteNot gonna lie, I have no freaking clue what the case in the Limey was about. I really enjoyed the Beckett/Lanie chats, though. Lanie Parish is my hero! I loved 47 Seconds. It was a great episode with a compelling case and plenty of drama. It lacked in humor, but made up for it with excellent writing. I'm probably in the minority here, but I love how Kate's secret was revealed. I think that Castle has definitely been immature in handling it, but I can forgive him for that because it's going to make the finale even more explosive and dramatic. ;)
DeleteI also loved the Limey. I thought it was well done, hilarious, and I liked the focus on Kate's perspective. I think after this whole 'wtwt' arc is over people will go back and think that ep is great.
Deleterelax anon 2:21.. the season's not over. a lot of things could happen these next 2 episodes. remember, one chapter ends and another one begins. if kate and castle becomes caskett, i don't think castle will be looking for bimbos if they have a fight or disagreement. he'll be pussywhipped for sure so it'll be hard for him to find "comfort" with some ho bag.
ReplyDeletebeckett and castle will definitely shag in the finale. you can note that one. or castle will get shot. either way.
cards! feelings! tables! secrets!
ReplyDeletemagic's biggest secrets finally revealed!
Well nothing new here, nothing we haven't heard before. Cards on the table mean nothing unless they are dealt, and is that going to happen? Have serious doubts despite what Marlowe and his team may be saying.
ReplyDeleteWhat has irked me the most this season is that the writers themselves set themselves up for failure. Did Marlowe really think, we fans would forget about the secrets from rise to 47 seconds, and then be jumping for joy that they have this dark crazy arc over 5 episodes? Who came up with this? Season 3 ended with a lot of hope, and season 4 failed in delivery. It's as simple as that. Marlowe took two lovable amazing characters and turned them into idiots who act like they don't even know each other after being partners for 4 years. He made fans dislike them, it was always team caskett...now we have breakaways...team Beckett and team castle. What the hell were they thinking? The 5 episode arc just annoyed and further frustrated the fandom, and fans are scrambling defending either castle or Beckett on their actions, and hense now we have those two teams. What is this twilight!
Marlowe took an extremely fun loving, sexy romantic, wonderful show and threw it out the window. And I'm pretty sure the blind item isn't them, there is no way they can go from headhunters to sleeping together.
I hope that Marlowe knows on some level what a failure this seasons has been for some fans and work on it. He set up knockout and rise to be this amazing new journey for our leads, and we got nothing. And now based on that interview we will probably get another set up for some event, but come September, some other roadblock will take place, putting all of them back in their original places.
I appreciate that people have different viewpoints, but it is unfair for individuals to speak for "the fandom". You can't please all of the people all of the time. I, for one, am not in the least annoyed with this arc/season/etc. I am enjoying the ride and will continue doing so. No doubts here, just a lot of appreciation for an enjoyable show filled with humor, thought-provoking twists, and a great love story. That's my opinion, (though I know it is not unique to me amongst Castle's fandom).
DeleteExactly Anon 6.36 PM. Despite the fact that sites like these tend to get overloaded with comments from people unhappy with the progress of the show, that doesn't mean at all that everyone hates it. Usually in these circumstances it's the people with a gripe that voice their opinions the loudest and also they're often in the minority. I am one of the people who is still happy with the way the show is going and I feel I understand why they've taken things this way in Season 4. I don't have a problem with people expressing why they are unhappy, as long as they provide constructive reasons as to why they feel like that. What disappoints me is those who take aim at Andrew Marlowe specifically and resort to shamefully bad personal attacks on the guy. He knows that he can't please everybody with where he takes these characters, but that doesn't make him arrogant and also doesn't mean that anyone who agrees with him thinks he's a God that can do no wrong, and believe me I've been accused of thinking that far too many times!
DeleteAgreed, Anon 8:23. I like hearing everyone's differing opinions, but some people take it way to far with the personal attacks on AWM. He's only human like the rest of us, and he can't please everyone all the time. Just think of all the people that he has to consider when writing an episode. The cast and crew, the producers at ABC, shippers/fangirls, casual viewers, potentially new viewers, people who only watch for Firefly references, people who only watch for Caskett, and so on. Marlowe is a busy guy, and I'm not saying he can do no wrong- Heartbreak Hotel, anyone?- but he and his team have done very well this season. The way I see it, for every "Heartbreak Hotel" episode, there are 3 "Cops and Robbers" episodes, and he deserves some credit for that.
DeleteAnon 8.23 PM here again. Thanks for that reply Anon 11.01 PM. I think the problem with Heartbreak Hotel is that they were trying to portray how Kate would handle things without Rick's presence but they didn't really hit the bulls-eye with it. It certainly wasn't a really bad episode but they did miss a good opportunity to show Kate struggling a bit without Rick's crazy theories and knack for noticing obscure facts that have benefited her over time since she's known him.
DeleteThe two-parter and The Limey are the other episodes where the fan reaction had an overall negative tone to it. I think they were trying to outdo the Season 3 two-parter by putting the lives of more than just New York City at stake, and perhaps didn't quite get it right. I did however think that Jennifer Beals was an excellent baddie. She certainly ruffled the feathers of the shippers (and other fans) and that exacerbated the bad reaction somewhat. I guess that meant she performed her role to perfection!
In terms of The Limey, it's not like we weren't warned that things were going to get ugly before getting really, really good! The overall feeling from that episode was that Rick and Kate's behaviour were inconsistent with their characters. While this argument holds some weight, there is no such thing as a "normal" reaction to finding out a secret like that in that manner. Sure it was dramatised, but this is a Comedy-Drama on top of a Police Procedural show so no surprises there. I think it has been really interesting to watch Kate tear her hair out in frustration trying to figure out why Rick suddenly started pulling away.
Other than those four episodes, I have to say that every other episode from Season 4 has received an overwhelmingly positive response (this is not a lie, just an honest observation believe it or not). The episodes Rise, Kick The Ballistics, Cops & Robbers, Kill Shot, Cuffed and Dial M For Mayor are all episodes that would rank up there in terms of the best episodes they've created since the beginning. The others that I haven't mentioned were still very good in their own right. So there you have it, as far as I'm concerned Season 4 has been fantastic and I can't wait to see how it concludes!
Couldn't agree more Anon 5.35 PM apparently I could have gone to sleep after RISE and then woken up in time for 47 seconds and missed basically nothing. How is that for great story telling and pacing of a show?
DeleteTo make it worse I could then sit through three (probably four with the next one) episodes of a so called five story arc when once again nothing happened of note despite one secret coming out!
I just despair of that level of writing ineptitude frankly.
Let's just hope that Marlowe can get this ship back sailing in calmer waters for next season and bring back the fun, the banter and the sexual chemistry and ditch the obvious roadblocks to Rick and Kate getting it together. The elephant in the room needs to be taken out and shot.
I realise others here feel this season has been excellent well that's fair enough we all see things differently but it's nice to see some fans explain their criticisms in a detailed manner rather than saying it's crap and I don't like it, I enjoy reading everyone's opinions on this site good, bad or indifferent.
Keep up the good work on this site, I really enjoy coming here to get my daily fix.
Completely agree with Anon 5:35 PM and Anon 6:18 AM, enough said...
DeleteOk guys, we are officially in the sneak peek prime window. We always get them Wednesday or Thursday. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteare you for real? asupvkersdio;eawsd -spazzes- this is my first year with spoilers and season finales... HOW DO YOU COPE :0
DeleteAbby-It's my first year with sneak peeks and spoilers, too! I've always been a fan of Castle, but I didn't become obsessed until this year. Castle is the only show that I follow spoilers for on a regular basis, simply because it's the best show on tv, of course ;)
DeleteI personally have this site (and several others) bookmarked, and I check back here a million times a day to see if there are any new articles, and more importantly, sneak peeks. I always look forward to coming home after work on Wednesdays and Thursdays, because there's a good chance we'll get some sneaks. Usually we get 3 at first, and then 3 or so more over the weekend. It's really exciting to come to this site to see "4x22 Sneak Peaks," as the first item on the page. Fingers crossed we get them soon!
Abby- have you not seen the first 3 seasons of Castle, then? Because if you haven't- what the hell are you waiting for??
DeleteI personally have enjoyed this season. For the first three seasons we, as viewers, were given much more insight into Castle's backstory and character development then Beckett's. This season had seen a bit of role reversal. As a loyal viewer. I am learning more about how Beckett processes things. Especially with her therapy sessions. This is a woman who has closed herself off emotionally from falling in love. A process that has affected her life for over 10 years. I, for one, do not expect that to change too dramatically over the course of a single season. And in THAT aspect, I think AM had been true to the character development of Kate this season.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed Castle's maturity this season. He seems more focused and grounded. I loved the scene in Headhunters when he asked Slaughter how he breaks the news to the victims families. It showed a side of Castle that was more empathetic. Great character development. Castle still has that childish impish quality that I love. But AM had tempered that by showing that Castle isn't just about himself anymore. He puts Kate's feelings ahead of his own. A sign of true love and devotion. Giving Kate the space she needed was HUGE for the character development of Castle this season.
Yes, this season had been slightly slower paced. But I think that was integral to the continuity of the issues this couple was faced with this season. Kate's shooting, Alexis going off to college, losing Capt Montgomery, Capt Gates replacing him. These are irrevocable changes in the storytelling process. It makes for a more nuanced and interesting show.
I am a shipper, I readily admit it. I do think that Castle and Beckett will be "together" by seasons end. I for one am looking forward to seeing what AM has in store for all his characters next season!
Anon 6:55, I love you for this! And, ditto.
DeleteGreat response.... You are way too mature and smart for this blog. I agree with everything you said.
DeleteOh come on, I think deep down we all know nothing will actually change or happen between them. This has been going on for so long, Marlowe will just come up with yet another reason for them to be apart.
ReplyDeleteLet's see...
Maybe they need time to deal with each others lies.
Maybe he can't trust her and she needs tore gain his trust
Maybe she can't trust him and he needs to regain her trust
Maybe Alexis gives her father an ultimatum, Beckett or her
Maybe Martha gives her son a pep talk saying that if she lied all this while, then he can't trust her
Maybe Martha gets a Herat attack and castle needs to take care of her, so no time for a relationship
Maybe Kate's dad gets killed, and she is back to square one emotionally
Maybe gates forbids precincts relationships
Maybe the people behind Johanna becketts mothers murder says of they are together, Alexis and marthatnwill be harmed
Maybe one of them gets amnesia
Maybe castles father killed JB and so Kate now hates him
Maybe castle father tells him that the CIA will kill Kate f they are together
Maybe them being together will cause world war three!
See so many reasons Marlowe could come up with, and he will maybe not my reasons, but he will come up with something to keep them apart again.
Oh and if you guys think I'm being sarcastic, I'm really not, I really do think Marlowe will come up with some insanely silly reason, just to drag it out, and of course fans will still watch and bitch every second of the way. Isn't that what this fandom has been reduced to. Thanks for that Marlowe.
LOL, some of the reasons you listed are really funny. (If the intent wasn't to be funny, I apologize--no offense intended!)
DeleteMy favorites:
--Maybe Alexis gives her father an ultimatum, Beckett or her. [LOL!..though she is supposed to be going off to college haha.]
--Maybe Martha gets a heart attack and Castle needs to take care of her, so no time for a relationship. [I could totally see Martha feigning illness for attention...though she probably wants Rick to stay single so she can keep living in his house in peace.]
--Maybe Gates forbids precincts relationships. [Haha, I think Gates hates all forms of happiness so no surprise there..but she is in so few episodes, I don't get the sense she has a lot of authority. Where was Gates when Castle brought Det. Slaughter to the precinct anyway?]
Maybe they are half-brothers
DeleteAnon 7.19, it was meant to be funny...don't worry, no offense. But what I mean is that the reasons i listed are crazy and ridiculous but I wouldn't be surprised if Marlowe actually used them just to keep caskett apart. Because they need to keep finding some reason right.
DeleteOR, Castle and Beckett DO get together; world peace breaks out; there are no more homicides, hence, no more need for homicide detectives or shadowy writers. Now unemployed, Castle & Beckett retire to the Hamptons, living off the Dragon's fortune and making Caskett babies. End of show.
DeleteHaha, I like the world war 3 one...
DeleteYeah I think Marlowe feels if castle and Beckett get together, ww3 may break out, that's hwy he is doing everything to keep them apart.
Or maybe the zombie attacks castle in the next episode, then next season Beckett says she can't be with a zombie, and castle is then doomed. Or they do get together, and have little zombie babies.
Anon 6:58, you do realize that you are one of those fans continuing to watch and bitch about Castle even though you've obviously got a problem with the show. If you're that unhappy, change the damn channel.
DeleteAnon 10.44, of course I do...yeah I love the show, been watching from the start, but it does annoy the hell out of me sometimes. It's like a kid, you may love them but they still annoying at times. But I do seriously think Marlowe will come up with another reason to keep them apart. From what he has given us for 4 years, that seems like a pattern.
DeleteAnon 6.58 PM I totally agree that Marlowe will find some pathetic reason to keep them apart because despite all his talk to the contrary I don't think he has a clue how to write them being together in a relationship.
DeleteHe only knows how to write them apart and drowning in angst now.
Some other reasons that Kate and Rick could be kept apart in season 5.
Kate decides to become a nun.
Rick falls into a coma.
Kate decided to join the army.
Kate can't be with Rick until the stars are all aligned and the moon is in Capricorn or some such idiocy.
Rick gets kidnapped by the CIA.
Kate gets kidnapped by alien forces.
A meteorite hits New York and they both die trying to save the city.
I could go on but I think you've provided Marlowe with more than enough ideas.
Seriously though, I think the obvious next roadblock is that after all their secrets coming out Kate tells Rick she doesn't trust him enough to be in a relationship with him and they have to go back to just being good friends - rinse wash repeat for another season.
Then the fans can wait for another season to plod on by until the finale with yet another "cards are going to be laid on the table" speech by Marlowe - lets just hope by then fans will have wised up to the stunt he keeps pulling and call him on it.
This is hilarious, thank you Anon 6:58 PM and Anon 6:29 PM
DeleteI'm glad that 10 millions people really like this show beside us, the fans, to keep Marlowe bringing a new season. It is a great show with lovely characters, entertaining enough for an hour of TV.
ReplyDelete(Sorry, anonymous non native)
It's more than 10 million, right? I know the weekly ratings are about 10 million, but that doesn't include people who record the show to watch it later, or those in countries outside the US. From what I've read on this blog and others, Castle seems to have quite a widespread fan base- I'd really like to know how many of us there are!
DeleteMaybe Marlowe will give us a great finale, who knows, but what annoys me is there are high chances that the season 5 will start with them resetting everything. Marlowe will throw another roadblock etc...just tired of that.
ReplyDeleteHang in there... this is a good one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79x9WlX-Kho
ReplyDeletecommon guys I have been visiting this site for sneak peaks and there aren't any, in the mean time I really love to read fan fiction .. please anyone who thinks how the next episodes will play out please please put forward your theories ...... love to read your theories and fan fiction
ReplyDeleteyeah!! someone with theories and fanfiction please share it with us ...
Deletea fan from India
yeah!! someone with theories and fanfiction please share it with us ...
Deletea fan from India
I don't know of any specific fan fiction for theories on the season finale. However, if you're looking for really good fanfics-I'm talking multi chapter stories written professional authors- they're always the fics with the most reviews on the fan fiction sites. Like 1,000+ reviews. I've found some excellent fics that way, and it's like reading a real book with characters you already know and love. I'm currently in the middle of a great fanfic- it's all that's getting me through until the finale!
DeleteI enjoyed more these lighter episodes. I love Demons and Fairy tales episode, Cops&Robbers too and it wasnt too big drama.
ReplyDeleteI love Headhunters, Adam Baldwin did a great job! Two-parter was crap, this whole sinking car and then pier scenes were stupid.
Limey was horrible, some people said that Slaugher was using Castle but Hunt did the same with Beckett, of course with more subtle way but she was too blind to notice it.
I think castle is out for the blind item because I read ausiello tweed there is a surprise hook up at Grey's
ReplyDeleteYou know what is problem with this season? Plot doesnt go forward. You can watch 4x01 and 4x18 and you are on the same level. And this is main difference to previous seasons, especially to S3 were in almost each episode was a step forward.
ReplyDeleteThe irony is that most "shippery" season was exactly s3 with SO's on the picture.
Anon 1.36, you're right. The promo confirms the blind item is April and Avery of Greys anatomy as they are in bed. And ausiello confirmed it in his tweet, the interview with Sarah drew. She confirms they hook up. If it isn't them, it could be webber and Jackson's mom...there's a scene where you can see two people in bed, but just their hands...I think it's webber and someone, maybe Jackson's mom. So either of these could be the blind item.
ReplyDeleteDamn, it isn't caskett...well it was too good to be true. Was so hoping it would be them.
Really??? Oh man...well in some way I'm glad we know now, at least we won't expect it in the finale and then get extremely disappointed when it doesn't happen. Thanks for updating.
DeleteAusiello is just evil, someone had mentioned once, never trust him, he always messes around, I didn't listen. I should have.
The Blind Item said the hook-up would take place during May sweeps. That Grey's ep that has April and Avery hooking up is airing tonight. It's not May sweeps yet. Also, they're not even a major will they/won't they couple. I don't think Ausiello would be dragging out this Blind Item tease for 3 months (he first put it out there in February) over a secondary couple. I love Lanie and Espo, of course, but making all this fuss about April/Avery on Grey's Anatomy would be like hyping up Lanie/Espo getting back together. They're sweet and so cute but it's not a major focal point of the show.
DeleteI really don't think the Blind Item has anything to do with Grey's Anatomy. Ausiello can be sneaky but I don't know that he'd let the Castle fandom get so hyped up if it wasn't Caskett. He let The Vampire Diairies fans going nuts thinking it was Damon/Elena know it wasn't them (he said both people in the couple are human, so there goes that couple) and he blatantly eliminated other shows, too. He favorited a tweet in which someone asked if it was Beckett and Castle. Plus, he featured the word "always" quite prominently in his teaser. Why do all that, get us all excited, just to have it be about a secondary couple that has nowhere near the rabid fan base that Caskett has? It doesn't make sense to me.
I agree with Elena...all the blind item clues still point directly to Caskett, and the all other major couples have been eliminated from the running.
DeleteThe fact that the Grey's Anatomy couple is hooking up before May practically CONFIRMS that it's Caskett; there are simply no other couples left who fit all the clues.
Besides, Stana did say things would get "naughty", and she chooses her words carefully. As far as I am concerned that should be sufficient confirmation that Caskett's relationship will get physical.
I would just make a simple precision the "May sweeps" have started today.
DeleteDon't ruin the story with your logic. LOL ;)
DeleteDidn't Ausiello talk about "unrequited love"? How does that apply to Caskett?
DeleteAusiello is such a troll, yeah it seems that caskett isn't the blind item. He is pure mean, making us believe it could be caskett. All clues point to the Greys folks.
ReplyDeleteI thought the whole point of the "blind item" is that it remains blind (i.e. a secret) up until the episode happens. I don't think Ausiello would spend all this time with the hints & clues pointing to Caskett to just reveal a hookup of 2 minor characters to be the blind item...it makes no sense at all.
DeleteAusiello has been doing everything he can to assuage the fans other than declare it's Caskett outright...he has favorited Caskett-related comments & even italicized "always" among other hints.
In fact, his use of subtext & secret keeping further convinces me it's Caskett, lol!
blind item or not they will sleep together at the final ep. like stand said it will be "naughty soon" i believe in her comments.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Stana !!
ReplyDeleteI dont doubt tthe Grey's guys are going to hook up, but I dont think the blind item has anything to do with them. Its not may and its not the season finale. Now if he was giving away false clues, thats another story. But otherwise, they dont match the item. Although that doesnt mean it has to be Castle and Beckett.
ReplyDeleteAtro
It's not Greys, we already know its happening as it was shown and said a million times so it's not some big secret and it's not even the finale when it happens. Also, nobody cares about those two as they have had zero buildup to coupledom, ever. It's just another hookup on grays no different than alllll the other hookups that happen. And really, Jackson's mom? Let's be real, she's been on the show like 7.4 seconds total and is in no way a part of some love story and doesn't have any shippers in order to be upset. Every single item points to caskett (now whether it is or isn't who knows, Ausiello could be messing with us because he can and that's pretty much terrible but...) there's nothing that should make you think the blind item is Greys over every single clue pointing to castle ESP. All the little hidden references (ALWAYS, yo, nookie, the tweet favorite, then just all the clues in general).
ReplyDeleteDoes the hint "unrequited love" point to Caskett? How?
DeleteWHY WHY WHY is it not Monday yet!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis has to be the longest 2 weeks in TV ever
Yeah...I totally agree. I've barely survived this month.
Delete2-week gaps always drive me crazy, lol. On top of that, the recent relationship arc was a little depressing, so spreading out the episodes mostly just stressed me out.
I wish they had waited a few weeks up front before "47 seconds" aired. If they had aired "47 seconds" on April 9th, that would have let us have a new episode each week up to the season finale.
I've tried delaying watching episodes before..but if a new episode is out I just can't help myself. (It's especially challenging to wait since I like to browse sites like these!)
Ah well only a couple more days to go! We're nearly at the penultimate.
OH YEAH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR SUNSHINE!!!
ReplyDeleteI am proud of myself.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch headhunters yet and I planned to watch the last three episodes after the finale is aired.
I cannnot bear the hiatus anymore at this point of the season. I hope it will be worth!!
I have been overall disappinted by this season but luckily I still menage to get excited for the finale..
even i have contained myself from watching headhunters, and would love to watch the last three episodes all together.
DeleteWe can do it!!!
DeleteWow I am impressed if you manage to pull that off :) more power to you!
Deleteit's freaking Thursday, still no sneak peaks yet. the wait is killing me. nothing new, that we don't know, had surfaced during this break.
ReplyDeleteSneak peeks will come out tonight (late Thursday night in the USA), so a good time to start checking is before you go to bed.
Deleteor just waking up(here in Europe)!
DeleteIn the promo when we see kate talking to someone, it looks more like a girl bc u can see her black hair. I think it will prob be laine or gates, but for some reason i see it more as gates. Which got me thinking what if kate is saying shes ready to face what happen has something to do with her confessig to what really happened last year and the 12th keeping the cover up secrete.
ReplyDeleteIn the promo when we see kate talking to someone, it looks more like a girl bc u can see her black hair. I think it will prob be laine or gates, but for some reason i see it more as gates. ReplyDeleteIt was a girl with dark hair...but I think it's just an extra & not Lanie or Gates.
DeleteThe scene was at the precinct and Lanie never comes there since she works at the morgue. I also don't think Lanie will be in this episode much or at all, since Dr. Perlmutter is back.
Gates is not the type to give anyone a high five...especially Castle! Although she tolerates his presence, Gates never hesitates to admit that she doesn't like Castle.
anyone else hoping that the 'VERY cool" news Aus is about to give is that the finale is gonna be 2 hours!? It would make sense!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that would be cool...but I highly doubt an extra hour of programming would materialize out of nowhere, especially considering that ABC doesn't seem to have planned (or paid) for it.
DeleteAusiello got us a sneak peek :D
