Will a bit more time on the couch lead Beckett into Castle‘s bed?
Castle |
If you’ve been following Ask Ausiello – and really, why wouldn’t you be?
– you know that Michael Dorn will soon be resurfacing as Beckett’s
therapist, whom we last saw in November. So what’s the hot topic at
Beckett’s next shrink session, airing April 16? “The catalyst,” series
boss Andrew W. Marlowe told me, “is Beckett coming to grips with
Castle’s behavior” in the wake of him discovering — unbeknownst to her —
that his partner lied about remembering her shooting. “It’s also,”
Marlowe continued, “about her coming to grips with what she wants, and what she’s ready for.”
Source: TVLine
Good to see him back but I doubt there will be any actual progress made.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could believe that something is going to happen after her talk with the therapist but she's already spoken to Lanie and that conversation was a bust!
How many times does she need to talk to people before she makes an actual decision?
We've heard all this before from Marlowe about how someone is going to take stock and do something concrete and it never happens.
In any case, hasn't he already said that the secrets are now only going to be actually discussed and dealt with in the finale? So what decision is she going to reach in this episode which will make her do something?
I would love Kate to finally admit she loves this guy to her therapist as she chickened out last time and just let everyone hanging. Surely it's time that she faced up to her feelings ten months on rather than pretending she doesn't have them. If the writers want me to believe in their love story I've got to have more to go on than what's been served up so far this season and a reciprocating ILY from Kate - even if it is to her therapist would be great.
Doubt I'll get it though, just more of the same Lanie style conversation and I know where that went to Rick driving up with a blonde in a Ferrari!
To be fair, she did decide to talk to him, and was about to when he bailed on her. If you were going to tell someone you were in love with them and they basically told you what "their life needed right now" was someone the complete opposite of you, do you think you would go ahead and say it right then?
DeleteI know, it's freaking annoying and they're stretching it out a lot, but under the circumstances, it's actually kind of realistic. People ARE immature and there's a lot of ego-protection going on here...
I'm very sure it will not lead her to his bed. Maybe a talk, which happens in the finale. But the bed...is just wishful thinking unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteYeah I hope this session actually gets her moving. Lanies talk went nowhere, but more so because castle was not giving her a chance. Actually she did take Lanies advise and tried to talk to him, but he is such a jackass at the moment, that he never gave her the chance to come clean. My take is that, dr.burke will be the last straw for her, it will be a do or die moment kind of thing. She will realize that she has got to find a way to reach out to him even if he isn't listening right now. Maybe it's castles turn to see dr.burke now, since he is being so difficult.
Just to reply back that my faint hope is that this is what finally kick starts her as you suggest into doing something instead of nothing which is her usual stance where Rick's concerned.
DeleteI know the guy is hardly being co-operative on that front but he's very hurt and lashing out. She has to be the brave one and see what's behind the blonde and the Ferrari and accept her true feelings i.e. that she loves him and wants to try and make something work between them.
What I hated about the end of the Limey was that she seemed to give up so easily by phoning that guy and when Castle brushed her off and left. If you love someone you have to be brave enough to push the envelope and take a risk.
You don't get anywhere in love with taking a risk and as long as Kate continues to just talk and do nothing, Rick will just move further away from her. Clearly he has no intentions of speaking to Kate about the secret she's going to have to do the work herself.
Rick is being stubborn. I know he's hurt and mad but he Wont even talk to her. Kate needs to fight for him, which she is. She is trying to open up to him and tried to talk to him. She even took lanie's advice. I agree, I didn't want her to call up Colin, but I think nothing happened when she went out for drinks with him. It was just a drink. No flirting, kissing, none of that. Rick's comment about being fun and uncomplicated hurt a lot. I don't know what will happen with her therapist but I think she might go to him, he helps her to see why Rick might be upset, and she finally decides what she wants. I would love to see if at the end, Kate ask to talk to Rick again, Rick brushes her off, and then she's like i love you, there!! I don't know why your acting weird but I love you Richard freaking Alexander Rodgers. Rick needs to cooperate and Kate needs to admit her feelings for him and both just need to deal with their secrets and TALK. Not move on, or give up, or hate each other, but listen to what the other has to say, admit their feelings, and deal with their crap, because both messed up, so both will have to fix their secrets. Now it's kate's time to reach out to him and fix her secret, but it's rick's freaking time to let her know why he's mad and to stop acting like she's the only one who kept a secret. His will being coming out anyway. So Kate, go for it, take the risk, and when Rick tells you why he's mad, fix this. Admit your feelings and when you discover his secret, try to understand. Rick, swallow your freaking pride and tell the woman why your mad. You have a secret too and you should at least hear her out and try to understand her's, if you want her to do the same thing when ur's comes out. And stop trying to go on dates with other woman. You are a freaking writer, so actually listening to the words she has to say, could make this better. Kate, ur a detective so pressing for the truth, and telling Rick the truth, will make thus better. Same goes for you Rick, tell the truth. Nobody's secret is better than the other. I swear I want to lock these two in an interrogation room, then go to the observation room and watch until they admit their feelings
Delete"I love you Richard freaking Alexander Rodgers" hahahaha that was just awesome! Oh wait I'm not aloud to use this word .. Great post btw, I agree with you 100 %
DeleteHahaha thank you Anon6:59. I'm serious, I'm so tired of hearing Rick needs to move on, or about jocinda. No, both just need to talk. And I seriously want the ep to end like that, with Kate being like you have been blowing me off for weeks, but you know what?! I love you, you idiot. Ok let's deal with this, or are you scared of the flight attendant eating cold lobster, Ricky?! It would be so great and funny. Oh and what really should happen on the show, is in the fanfic story don't fade away. Check it out, trust me, that should happen;)
DeleteI don't agree.
DeleteCastle gave her the most perfect opening in Limey. She asks about the 4 dates in 3 days. He stops. He turns and looks at her full face and asks "Why?"
All she had to do was say "It should be me" or "I thought you were a one muse writer?" or "I would like to buy you a drink".
But no, she totally wimps out and ends up calling bad accent guy so she can go back to his hotel room and help him finish off his bottle of malt whisky.
Beckett is being a total coward.
And I hate watching it because that is soooo not who she is. She's a tough, streetwise, savvy New York cop and the writers have her acting like an immature teenager. I hate it.
I was debating with someone on an older post and they talked about Kate's wall in great detail. She is effectively still hiding behind it and that has led to her holding Rick at arm's length, effectively leaving him in limbo while she continues to hide behind her wall. This is all despite promising her psychiatrist back in Kill Shot that she was ready to move on with her life and be a better person than what she was with her mother's murder hanging above her head. Lanie got a confession (well an indirect one anyway) out of her and I expect that the good doctor will also say something that will wake her up. I think though, that the one thing that will smash down that wall completely is for Rick to find himself in life-threatening danger, just like it was with her when he finally admitted how he felt in the moments after she'd been shot. So it wouldn't surprise me if when Rick is supposedly going to find himself in danger following Ethan Slaughter Kate Beckett will be there to rescue him and perhaps blurt out her feelings? Looking forward to Headhunters. I like Adam Baldwin as an actor (and especially his character John Casey from Chuck). It will probably be another darker themed episode but at least it's one more step closer to the finale of another fantastic season!
ReplyDeleteI agree but I fear the best we can hope for is Beckett to make Castle promise to never follow another detective.
DeleteAfter all she did promise that she'd never let another writer follow her. That was back in the day when Castle got jealous.
Well, that's always the same old story: Marlowe told me, you, us...but in the end, this is: "Marlowe or the clever way to talk without saying anything concrete".
ReplyDeleteAnd that is normal cause he can't give us away the end before we got it on TV, so, for shippers who really get mad with what happens (doen't happen)in the show, please, stop reading all these articles and interviews!!!
Me, I'm fine with that; I don't care what they say (producer & actors) and I keep on watching the show that I love.
PatHyp
What I was trying to get at in my previous post (11.30) above is that Marlowe often says in his interviews that something is going to happen to cause then to either take stock of their lives or take some kind of action or reach a decision and yet when you get to the episode precisely nothing happens.
DeleteThat is misleading and if you keep telling me enough times that Kate or Rick are going to be taking stock or facing up to things or laying their cards on the table or any other such comment and nothing like that ever happens then I'm going to get fed up and call you on it.
It's the crying wolf scenario you do it too many times I will stop listening (or watching in some fans cases).
I'm not at that stage yet but I could be if he promises again to deliver some satisfying laying your cards on the table event between Rick and Kate and I get another summer of separation and them not speaking to each other.
I understand people worry about the three month break but I don't see why a show can't just pick up where it left off. What's the big deal?
You're totally correct, I should stop reading Marlowe's interviews though for my own peace of mind but it's like looking at a car crash you can't help yourself.
Well, I do get what you say and I'm not a big fan of Marlowe even if I'm not against him anyway.
DeleteHe's doing his job and I can imagine people in his real life asking him twenty times a day:" So? What about Caskett?"
The only thing in the last ep that could upset me is, even if they don't get together, they wouldn't declare their love to each other faca to face.
I'm just saying that because of the title "Always" that means something special.
You know, I'm like you, I understand people who worry about the show and the three months break, but I just hope they are able not to "overreact"!!
PatHyp
Just coming back to respond.
DeleteI don't mind if they get togther before the break but right now I can't see how they can go from what we are seeing now to them repairing all the damage about how they feel in time for it to be realistic.
I would be happy with them both admitting their love for each other directly in the finale and then something happens as a cliffhanger but NOT something that splits them up emotionally.
I guess I just prefer plain speaking to so called riddles which to me can be dangerously close to being misleading if not outright lies if done with bad intent. I'm not saying Marlowe is lying here but I do say that at times his statements can be misleading (to me). Especially if what he says will happen (Kate comes to a decision etc) doesn't happen and we just go back to the status quo. I'd rather he simply didn't say anything.
Yes, I agree with you.
DeleteAs I said, we don't have to listen to actors who don't even, most of time, start to realize an ep. How could they know anything about the ending?
No need to read what Marlowe says because these are always the same questions, so, these are the same answers...
What, I say it again, would upset me, is: What if he doesn't take enough care of the "Always" title?
You know, I'm French, and the day before the last ep (may7th), we'll have had a new President and, trust me, if he's not the good one for me, I would have more serious reasons to be upset!!!!
Coming back to say yes, if Marlowe turns the Always title into something that in the end means they split up or something bad happens which makes it look like they are not going to get together any time soon I shall be seriously upset.
DeleteHe many not think much of that Always title but I do and I don't want him treating it with contempt as some kind of gimmick.
I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't want Kate and Rick to get together in season 4. I'd rather they got together in season 5, no sooner than episode 3 or 4. I mean, if they get together in season 4, it'll be in the finale, which means we won't get to see the first three months of their relationship. And Andrew's not an idiot - he knows that. And I'm pretty sure I know what's gonna happen: Caskett won't get together and everyone's gonna be pissed at Marlowe and they're gonna say he lied and stop watching the show. Then us true, die-hard Castle fans are gonna stick with it and when they DO get together, it's gonna be epic. I just wish everyone would stop taking everything Andrew Marlowe says so literally. He talks in riddles and he's never lied. If you don't get the riddles, who cares, but don't bash him and the show because you understood differently than what he said. And stop saying that he lied because he never did.
ReplyDeleteAli
with you here. the 2 are such an ugly place right now, no sparks,so chemistry, bladda blada. And then all is well in 3 episodes?
DeleteAt best we have a get a clean slate to start season 5. If they hook up in the finale then it comes off cheap and meaningless like last year's ILU ended being
Agreed, Anon 12.14 AM, we don't want to miss the start of their relationship. They do the show in real time so it will be interesting to see how they handle things this time. We have had the seasons so far end in anger (first), heartbreak (second) and despair (third). With the season finale titled "Always" it's highly likely that the wonderful end of season that they promised will eventuate.
DeleteHowever, having said all that (and I know it's a long shot), what if by the end of Headhunters Kate Beckett finally confesses her feelings and they reach a new level together that they can begin a relationship? I've always felt that Rick's anger has only been superficial and that deep down he is still a man deeply in love with Kate. All it will take is for Kate to grow a pair and finally admit to him how she feels and he will snap out of his recent funk pretty quickly. If this does happen it would be great to see how they interact now that they would be at a completely new level in their relationship in Undead Again. I'd put my money on the secret that Rick's been holding being revealed towards the end of Undead Again as they are beginning to get used to this new level (if that indeed happens). Rumour has it that Jim Beckett will feature at some point. If he does I hope it's after Rick's secret comes out so that he can tell his daughter that he asked Rick to protect her way back in Knockout. That would help Kate hugely in dealing with the ramifications of Rick's secret. I have absolutely no clue how they are going to surprise us with the season finale. There have already been some interesting theories from people, including one where Rick gets arrested (wouldn't that be an interesting cliffhanger?!)
Actually, Anon 12:52 AM, that would be a really good ending: Castle getting arrested or being kidnapped by The Dragon or something, instead of the season finale always having something to do with a wedge between Castle and Beckett. And Andrew Marlowe did say this finale would be different, so it's entirely possible.
DeleteI also like your theory on Castle and Beckett getting together in 4x21/4x22. I can't really see Rick acting like he his for more than 2/3 episodes. Plus, Undead Again is supposed to be funny and silly.
As long as they DON'T get together in the last episode of season 4, in the last ten seconds before the credits role, I'm good.
Ali
Anon 12.52 AM here again. That would be an interesting theory around Rick being kidnapped! This is probably an outrageous theory, but what if he has to give up his freedom to the Dragon (rather than doing something like sacrificing his life for Kate as they can't kill off the main character can they!) in order to keep Kate safe. That would be almost the ultimate act of love he could do in order to protect her life. Although that would mean it wouldn't end up being a fun way of ending the season. They could have the two of them reaffirm their love for each other with a simultaneous "always" before he gets taken away. This could open up an opportunity for Kate Beckett to spend the summer trying to find where they're keeping Rick captive and how to break him out. It would be a nice recall to that episode in Season 3 where she told Rick she'd break him out of prison (after Martha told Rick earlier in the episode that breaking someone out of prison is true love).
DeleteAn outrageous theory I know, but it would certainly keep the fans desperately waiting for Season 5!
I think you are right about not hooking up them in this season, they relationship need healing after what happend in 4x19/20 and what will happens in next episodes.
ReplyDeleteBesides its obvious that Rick slept with blondie and Kate with scotland yard guy. It would be weird if they suddenly jump to the bed after that.
I don't think Kate slept with Hunt, it's way too out of character. Plus he did mention he had a flight to catch - such a hook-up would be rushed and completely out of the blue.
DeleteWell his intentions were very clearly, he wants hop to the bed with Beckett.
DeleteAs to the Kate:
bad mood + alcohol + hot hunky guy = everything possible
Marlow loves to annoy fandom, besides some sources says that his role is 'recurring'.
What if in the final Castle and Beckett finaly hook up,but then somehow Beckett get arrested because she killed her shooter but she coudnt find a proof that he realy is the one who shoot her??????????That would suprise me ;-)
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous 02:32 AM, they didn't sleep with each other they are in love with someone else. We all now kate and castle will sleep together soon.
ReplyDeleteI think Kate is very aware of her 'muse status'. When Rick will be following another detective, and he would say something along the lines that Slaughter could be his new inspiration for his next books. And this will be catalyzator for Kate to do something.
ReplyDeletebtw its funny that in 3x21 was foreshadow to this situation, remember what Esposito said? "Dude can be a muse right bro?"
And we know just how much foreshadowing goes on on this show!
DeleteI likewise hope that Castle says something about a "new muse." They'll have to deal with the fact that Black Pawn only gave Rick a three-book deal sometime on the show, at least after Frozen Heat comes out, so I'm kinda hoping they play that in here.
Ali
I am hoping that they'll eventually address the Nikki Heat movies again, that episode with Natalie Rhodes in it was one of my favorites.
DeleteNathan said at Paley his face would be rearranged in this episode. Also I think while filming there was a tweet from him joking about using the hospital beds on the Private Practice set. A chance for Kate to say a few things while he can't run out the door.
ReplyDeletethe tweet about him and hospital beds was in the following episode, Undead again
DeleteWith the history of Marlowe's writing we will not see them together until the start of season 5.
ReplyDeleteSeason 1: He delved into her mother's death and she pushed him away.
Start of season 2: "I see you tomorrow".
End of season 2: "See you in the fall"?
Start of season 3: "You win the bet, see you tomorrow".
End of season 3: "ILY".
Start of season 4: " We will take down that wall".
If he is true to form, Castle's secret will push them apart for the summer. I hope he proves me wrong.
I'm Ok with that..Good job!
DeleteThat's why the only difference for me is the "Always" title and I don't think that Marlowe will do exactly the same that previously. He probably can't use "Always" and let them go away apart from each other except if they already declared their love to each other.
PatHyp
How 'bout this. They are using story time for Alexis's graduation and she has Twittered about a stunt. The last three season endings have revolved around sorrow for Kate. Is it Rick's time for sorrow? Is the "Always" her support for him?
Deletei am all for caskett but i reallly don't see them getting together. i think the title always prob means that castle and kate will realize that they will always be there for each other regardless of what happens how angry they are now or after both secrets come out, at the end of the day they will always be there for each other and care about each other, they will put their lives on the line in order to help each other.
ReplyDeletei think each of them will realize that they each protect each other and in turn love each other, even if its not the right moment for them to commit to a real relationship. i know that that might sound lame, but i think it is way to soon for them to hop into bed together, not after all the anger we have seen. i would much rather have the season end with them opening up to each other, telling each other their true feelings and explaining why they kept the secretes they did.
i think the last episode will have a lot of action dealing with the case they will be working on, but i think the subplot will have a lot to do with the emotions of the characters, how they feel and them coming to terms with how they feel. i think a lot of what the case will be about will mirror or affect how each character will come to some realization by the end.
Question? Can you tell Marlowe that???
DeleteI do really hope that there's some time between when they spit fire and when they finally do the deed. They both need time to heal (and get back to their flirty banter that has been so amiss lately).
I hope season 5 after a few episodes have aired. Since 4x23 is titled "Always" people jump to conclusions and say they're going to get together. But have you seen season 5's mock promo poster?
So, I wouldn't worry. It'll probably be next season not this one when they get together.
So I uh looked up the season 5 mock poster. And uh... oh boy... uh... yeah.
DeleteI can't even.
I'm off to go stare at that thing, the power of positivity will make it happen...
that or my brain will explode.
Where did you find your season5 mock poster please?
DeleteNo one should be deprived of that. But I can't paste links through this comment box, but if you look up "castle season 5 mock poster" it should come up.
DeleteBut hopefully someone can put in a link?
OMG!!! This is hot!!!
Deletefound it posted here:

I think Marlowe is setting himself up for major trouble from the fans if he's calling the finale "Always" and not actually giving us scenes to live up to its understood meaning. Don't call it that if you're not going to deliver what we're expecting it to deliver.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if they don't get together at the end of the season. I just want to see an actual acknowledement between the two of them of their love for each other and I hope a passionate kiss. I look forward to seeing Castle's face when he finds out that Kate is in love with him. He can leave us hanging with regards as to whether they will start a relationship or not given the lies/secrets and let us find out in season 5. I just think this season has lacked in so many levels when it comes to case ideas, Caskett scenes, etc. Season 3 was my favourite, it had so many really funny, cute, flirty seasons between Kate and Rick and we rarely got those this season. If you're charging us with impatience, well it's the show's fault as it hasn't satisfied us with the caskett scenes we would've loved to see, such as a dance between them at Ryan's wedding.
Anyway, has anyone seen the little Richard Castle cameo on Missing last night? Wouldn't it be awesome if next year we get a cross-over between Missing and Castle where we get to see Castle's dad as a CIA agent?
Saw it. Loved it. An endorsement for another writer. Now the question is: is this Rick's father? I could see Martha in a relationship with Keith Caradine. Something to think about over the summer...LOL.
ReplyDeleteWhat is all this crap about the Lanie talk going nowhere? The way I see it, before the "girl talk", Kate refused to even ADMIT she had feelings for Castle. Lanie got her to not only admit it, but planted the bug that she ought to do something about it, and FAST. Sadly, their timing sucks ass because of Rick overhearing Kate's confession, and him hiding his own secrets, but things are moving, and in the RIGHT direction.
ReplyDeleteAll the people whining about them not getting together, please stop. While I also want to see Kate and Rick come to that moment, I am enjoying the realistic pushes and pulls of a relationship that AM and crew have created. This isn't just some " stick a third wheel in there and call it a love triangle" soap-opera drama. If I were in Kate's shoes- mother dead before I hit 25, dad a drunken mop, me alone with nothing but my career, then in comes Rick Castle, charming man with a different girl every night, I too would proceed with caution. Rick is a great guy at heart, but Kate has a point when she said he's had two failed marriages and she isn't exactly stellar in the relationship department either.
Kate has baggage. Rick has baggage. Together, they have baggage. It's going to take TIME to get through that.
-Kate K.
I still think Kate will speak at the end of next episode, and I'm not saying he will tell the psychologist who loves Rick, I will tell him after rescue him from the dangerous situation in which you are take your new companion "Masacre" . They will not have the big talk, that will surely occur in the last episode when sun Castle secret count. Headhunters said that Rick was going to end reconstruction of the face, then, who think they will care for him, Kate of course, is going to take home, where neither Ryan nor Esposito or the blonde interrupted.
DeleteI hope you are right Silvys!!
DeleteYeah you're spot on Silvys. As we all know Andrew Marlowe likes to mirror situations between Rick and Kate. It took Kate being shot and put in a life-threatening situation for Rick to finally blurt out that he loves her. It wouldn't surprise me then if Kate reveals how she feels when Rick's life is the one in danger. She has tried to bring down that wall of hers with her psychiatrist's help, but in all reality she is still hiding behind it. Putting Rick in a life-threatening situation seems to be the only thing that will smash that wall down and bring her to a position where she and Rick can finally put everything behind them and move towards a relationship. It has been hard watching Rick go AWOL, but once he knows how Kate feels I think he's going to feel quite embarrassed (deep down) about how he acted. It seems like his secret will come out in the finale now, but these last few episodes of this season look to be very intriguing.
DeleteLooks to me like Marlowe is trying to strech everything out to the last episode. I dont expect that much. They will get there secrets out. Admit thst they have fellings for each other. If you shippers are lucky you may see the KISS.Tune in next season.
ReplyDeleteAll of you keep talking about them addressing their feelings, talking things out, explaining themselves and so on. But I've been attached to this show since minute 1 and it is and has been clear to me that these two people have all the words in the world...until it comes to each other. Time and time again they show their love through actions. Like when she thought had been blown up in the bank. You could hear the terror in her voice but as soon as she laid eyes on him, there was nothing but love and contentment radiating from her. I think that the last ingredient is being added now. She hasn't had to face the possibility of losing him (emotionally) since she knew he was in love with her and that will be her big push. She is amazing under pressure and is not afraid to do whatever it takes to be there when he needs her (also cops&robbers). I feel that it's going to come down to a big bright shining moment. ;)
ReplyDelete
