If there's one thing in TV that needs to remain constant, it's that
Nathan Fillion should always portray a street smart hero opposite Adam
Baldwin's dumb lackey.
So pardon me if I need a minute to deal with this
latest bit of casting news.
In the upcoming April 16 episode
"Headhunters," Nathan and Adam, who previously worked together on the
short-lived series Firefly, will reunite onscreen when Castle ditches Beckett to shadow tough-guy cop, Ethan Slaughter. Baldwin explains the deal to TVGuide,
"It's flipped. Nathan's the dumb one this time." And Fillion doesn't
disagree, "Yup. Adam's in control, pulling the strings and I'm tagging
along in the dark." Help, my world is all askew.
And since it's now April, we're also beginning our descent toward the end of the season.
For May sweeps, TVLine
reveals that someone we haven't seen all year is set to return. Could
it be the mysterious 3XK? If so, this may go a long way toward
explaining what Jon Huertas meant about a very interesting conclusion to
the season for Castle and Beckett. Huertas teases TVLine
about the finale, “I think the audience is going to be surprised about
what happens between Castle and Beckett. More surprised than they ever
have been.” Dun, dun, dun.
For more visit TVOvermind.
Well it's not 3XK if Ausiello is correct about the returning character being female ... although 3XK returning out of nowhere would rock ... a lot
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Dana Delaney will return as FBI agent.
ReplyDeleteAlso thinking.... More probable, Montgomery's Wife!
ReplyDeleteI still think Castle is gonna wind up in the hospital this time.
Deleteso i have a question (sorry its not completely related to this spoiler but its been driving me CRAZY!) so heres my question: when do you guys think castles secret will come out ?it has to be episode 21 or 22 because marlowe said in an interview that both secrets would be out before the finale. So i just want other people thoughts\theories on this ! I would appreciate any feedback thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think at the end of headhunters. Right when Kate has finally had enough, and go's up to him and says something like I don't know why you are acting weird. And I don't care. You want to know why I care if your hurt?! It's not because I don't think you can take care of yourself, it's because I love you and I don't want anything to happen to you, you idiot. I know you only asked for when I thought it would come out, but this is my theory of what I hope happens.
Deletesomewhere else they say it is a woman, perhaps Montgomery's wife or daughters.
ReplyDeleteHoping it's 3XK to put C&B out of their misery
WHAT IF IT'S JOHANNA BECKETT!!?? SHE'S BEEN ALIVE ALL ALONG!! Watch them pull an Alias on us!
ReplyDeleteOh I have the perfect theory if that's true!!! Like Kate is chasing the dragon in the same all her mom was killed in. He stops and she aims her gun at him. He turns around and says your sniper wont miss this time and looks to a window. Kate follows his line of vision, and all we see is a huge sniper gun. BUT Rick is behind it, and he shoots the dragon, while the real sniper is knocked out next to him. So the dragon is dead or shot, the sniper is arrested, and the case is solved. Witness protection hears this and brings joahnna to the 12th precinct. So Kate and Rick are about to leave(casket is official) and that's when we see Joanna and Kate says mom?! Joanna says Kate and they hug each other in a heartbreaking cute way. Kate introduces labor, the boys, and Rick to her mom. And when Kate asks her mom what happened, Joanna just says well...and the screen fades to black. What do you Guys think??
DeleteI keep coming back to Huertas' line about the audience being 'surprised' about Castle and Beckett in the finale. This worries me! What could possibly surprise us?
ReplyDeleteAgreed, and at Paley the person who plays Martha said that there were twists in the story even she hadn't come up with.
DeleteI think montogramys wife makes scence. I thinks She comes to the precint after finding something intresting at the house that she gives Kate and it has something to do with her mom's murder which gets kate looking into it again which leads to castles secret being revealed. just a thought. can not wait to see how the wind this season up,
ReplyDeletenice theory but i dont see that happening because marlowe himself said that castles secret would come out BEFORE the finale.
ReplyDeletewhatever happens, I just want a very emotional confrontation between Rick and Kate! i want them to pour their hearts out and show their most vulnerable selves to each other! idk how to say this without sounding like a complete sadist, but i love when the show makes me cry. i love that they can reach me on a level where i feel so much. it's one of my favorite things about Castle!
ReplyDeleteHere's my theory.
ReplyDeleteI for one am interested to see what Adam Baldwin brings to the table in this episode. I'm guessing that the time he spends with Ethan Slaughter will be a real and very timely wake up call for our (usually favourite but currently most hated) mystery writer Rick Castle. So much so that he ends up doing quite a lot of soul searching and comes to the realization that he can't turn off the love switch and is still deeply in love with Kate (and feels like quite an ass for acting the way he did). Rick is supposedly going to find himself in danger and could end up in hospital (apparently there was a tweet from Nathan Fillion asking how to recline a hospital bed). I wonder if after Kate gets a fresh surge of confidence from her psychiatrist, she tries to save Rick from this danger and ends up going to hospital with him. I wonder if he'll realize just how much she cares about him if she does indeed have to come to his rescue. In a hospital ward they're far more likely to get some time together where they're not being interrupted at completely the wrong moment (Ryan and Esposito I'm pointing at you both). This could be the point where Kate finally admits that she loves him too and gives him a heartfelt apology for holding him at arms length for so long.
There were a few people who pointed out that there was a guy who looked exactly like Mr Smith who walked behind Rick in the scene in Rise where he's checking his hair out in a mirror before going in to see Kate in her hospital bed. This guy is dressed like a doctor and he does glance briefly at Rick, but I don't know if it is Mr Smith for sure. If it is I wonder if he will show up when Kate is in the ward room with Rick. If he does it's likely he will berate Rick for straying away from Kate's side and that he was supposed to keep her in line, leading to Rick's secret being revealed.
What do you guys think (the ones who haven't chucked your toys out of the cot and threatened to leave, even though you will still tune in when Headhunters airs)?
I think the Castle female will be Meredith...look what the actress who plays her wrote in twitter
ReplyDelete"HEY #Castle Fans FUN FACT #2 I played enemy to @Stana_Katic TWICE---> Meredith #Castle ---> LA theatre play #HangingAlice#SheWonBothTimes"
twice?!
Once in a theater play and once on Castle
DeleteMaybe the returning character is Jim? (Kate's dad?) I'd love a scene between him and Castle, in which Jim makes clear to Castle that Kate loves him... And after that there should be an emotional confrontation between Beckett and Castle.
ReplyDeleteAnon 08:47 and Brit say something about Johanna Beckett being alive; I like your theories but I think it would better fit in 'undead again'? just sayin'
Ausiello confirmed that the returning character is not Jim. The character is female, and "has ties to a former series regular".
DeleteIMHO, the best theory out right now is that the mystery character is Cpt. Montgomery's wife.
so i found this from another dite and it kinda worries me (if indeed it is castle and beckett that seal the deal)
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Help a girl out and
give a clue about the couple
sealing the deal in your latest
blind item. Please, with a
case of Snapple (you pick the
flavor) on top? —Lisa
Ausiello: I’m starting to get
some intel on how the hookup
goes down, and I think it’s fair
to say fans will either love it or
hate it; there will be no in-
between. How’s that? Not good
enough? Figured. Pay a visit to my
Twitter feed in the next day or so.
I’ll narrow things down a little
further for you.

so yeah i kind hope that its NOT castle and beckett because if it says some fans will love it but some will hate it dosent sound really good. I dont want caskett to get together like that and regret it next season or for it to be angry sex. But i feel that since stana and nathan said that fans will be pleased by the finale that the blind item could be them. I just dont want our beloved characters to jump in bed and then regret it later.....
-brittany
I think he's just being a tease when he says fans will either hate it or love it. It sounds sarcastic to me. Besides he might not be talking about Castle. Anyone know any other shows with couples they're waiting to get together for? I think Vampire Diaries maybe. Some fans will love it if Stefan and Elena get together, others will hate it. The same goes for Elena and Damon.
DeleteI am still saying its montermery's wife I mean it ties in to what I know the finale will be about JB case maybe she finds something out and wants to let beckett know
ReplyDeleteanon 05:45 i think it goes about how we will see it i mean how much we will see of that act if it is caskett ausiello
ReplyDeletemeans in his blind item and i think we will see not much and that what fans will be hating or loving.
srry guys i bet all my money!!! that they will sleep together before castle secrets come qut...it really looks like.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know when really will be in the air Head Hunters?... this post said 16th, but the previous said 30th...
ReplyDeleteHeadhunters will air on April 16th. ABC has confirmed it.
ReplyDeleteI just want to know what surprising happens in the finale. Everyone says we are going to be surprised, so I feel like they are not going to hook up because that's like what 80% of people are expecting?
ReplyDeleteI have to say I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in Headhunters. Adam Baldwin is a fantastic actor (John Casey in Chuck is awesome) and his presence will make the episode even better.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of the fandom of this show, I think some of the people who reacted badly to The Limey are people who actually care very deeply about the plight of Castle and Beckett. Those people were offering up valid and constructive criticisms that I welcome. However, the vast majority of what I've seen has gone beyond that and entered a territory where it has become nothing more than pure, venomous hatred (foolish idiots).
There have been so many complaints about a lack of progress in Season 4 between Castle and Beckett. I think a lot of you just expected the two of them to drop everything and start making Castle babies the moment one of them confessed their feelings for the other. That was never going to happen.
What we have here is two wonderful but deep down broken people. Rick has been burned by so many people in his life and his reaction to Beckett's secret is so bad because she is the one person who he thought he could trust and therefore feels betrayed by her. Right now Kate needs to take the bull by the horns and fight to get her man back. She needs to prove to him that she loves him too, as that is one of the main driving factors for his behaviour, that he thinks that she doesn't love him.
Kate's issues have been covered far more by the creators of this show. We all know that she is someone that even now is still driven by her mother's murder. Rick told her during their argument in Knockout that she was afraid to find out what her life would be like without her mother's murder to drive her and he was so right. She appears to be a little green in terms of love and has always been superficially denying she has any feelings for Rick, until Lanie backed her into a corner and forced it out of her. Once she puts the pieces of the puzzle together and figures out why Rick's been pulling away, I think (like I said above) we are going to see a Kate Beckett determined to reclaim the special place in Rick's heart that he had waiting for her.
This whole experience is going to galvanise them both and will lead to the two of them diving into a relationship. Rick's secret will probably hurt Kate but because she's known since her shooting how he felt, I think her reaction to his secret will not be anywhere near as bad as it was the first time he dug around in there trying to help her. There is a strong chance that now she cannot hide from the fact that she loves him very deeply, that she will realize that he did what he did because he loves her and was afraid that she would run into the line of fire if she ever found out what was going on.
I can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out. They have promised us a fantastic end to the season and I highly doubt they will deliberately lead the fans astray. They've never done that before, contrary to many opinions. I think you'll find that people get misled by journalists NOT tied to the production of this show, rather than the show creators/actors themselves.
It's obvious, we want see many Castle babies!
DeleteAnon 12.22 I applaud your astute observation!
ReplyDeleteWe saw Kate trying to bring down that WALL, one brink at a time throughout this season....primarily her driving force were those three letter words from Rick! She had kept this from him only b/c she was not ready and she wanted to protect him from... THIS, which we can now clearly see is what she was afraid of, immature and heartbroken Dick!
However, the very thing we are hating (Rick's reaction to her secret) will be the very thing that becomes the catalyst that will tear Kate's WALL down, in one giant sweep! Her fear of losing him will become so intense and real that she will finally let herself go! We all know our Kate! Much as we love her, she does not wear her heart in her sleves.... Do a dramatic event needed to take place to jerk these two into reality! That 'holding pattern' they had carved for themselves would not have broken down slowly.... It needed to be shattered in one giant blow!
Frankly, I cringed watching Limey, but I do feel that they were settling into a friendship zone, Kate was too confortable and the story would not have moved, if Marlowe didn't turn Rick into a complete jerk. Castle, being Castle would never have been able to get this kind of reaction out of Kate! She needed to feel that she WILL lose the man she is deeply and madly in love with in order for her to take that giant leap!
As for the 'surprise'..... I have a feeling that Kate's reaction to Castle's secret might be mellow! Which is the last thing you expect, considering the over the top multi episode angst from Castle! Clearly, Kate is being given less histrionics, which is a great relief b/c there are only so many storylines Marlowe can pack into a 42 min season Finale! I mean did you hear the laundry list, I might as well get my own issues in there while we are at it!!!
We did hear that, Castles secret comes out at the worst time imaginable..... I am suspecting miss Beckett was about to tell him, and his came out first and hence her confession gets pushed to the finale!
I would love your thoguhts.... These were simply my imagination runnning ...,
Anon 12.22 PM here again. Thanks for that Romy! While people have been simmering away about Rick being a jerk (leading to funny comments along the lines of calling him "Dick" Castle), they needed him to go AWOL to force Beckett out of hiding. It is hard to watch Rick be like he is, but he himself said "it's hard to watch your hero's fall" back in the Season 3 episode "Under The Gun", the episode where we were introduced to Mike Royce, Beckett's training officer and probably the only man other than Rick that she has genuinely fallen in love with. Both Rick and Kate have always struggled to be open about their feelings for each other, leading to numerous "near misses". It took Kate being shot and put in a life threatening situation for Rick to finally come out of hiding himself! I chuckled to myself when I wrote down that part in my last post where people just expected them to drop everything and start making Castle babies when one of them finally broke the silence. Nathan Fillion said once that it's great to see a character fail at something spectacularly only to learn from their mistake(s) and become a better person for it. That to me is what Season 4 has been about. Two people deeply in love with each other keeping hurtful secrets because they felt that they were protecting the other person by keeping them. They will both learn eventually that they were wrong, even though they both had the best intentions at heart for doing this. The realization of this will cause a huge surge forward in their relationship and they will finally take the next step in the aftermath of it. Andrew Marlowe has said that once they're together that's it. They will not be forced apart in any way. He also believes that there is so much content he can work with once they are officially a couple. I get that people are genuinely fearful that once they're together then the spark may go out (that stupid Moonlighting curse thing that keeps getting brought up for some silly reason), but with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic at the front (two people with amazing on-screen chemistry), they will easily quash any lingering doubts people may have. I think it will add a new interesting dynamic to the show once they are a couple and I'm looking forward to seeing how Andrew Marlowe deals with it.
DeleteAnon 12.22PM... I enjoy your posts. They are thought provoking without meaningless chatter. I lover the fan fury of these last few days, but it is sometimes much!
ReplyDeleteThough must admit I too have come a log way from those initial reactions after watching Limey. I truly felt uncomfortable throughout the episode. I am not sure which made me feel worse, Rick's behavior which even a 6 yr old would find childish or Kate's look of desperation as she watches her world spinning out of control without notice. AWM got the reaction he was aiming for, from these characters and what's more from his viewers! That my friend is really good story telling!!
Marlowe absolutely needed Kate Beckett utterly nervous, running from pillar to post trying to figure out what changed and more importantly how to fix it!! I cannot stand this angst, but I also know left to her, we would be in season 7-8 by the time she is ready! Tearing her walls down in one blow required a REAL crisis! Lucky for her, Rick steps up and turns into a jackass!!
Marlowe is already moving in the direction of a coming together of some sorts. If they do confront each other directly, at least we know that THEY know! Which is infinitely more important in terms of future castles babies!!
Them being separated to end a season is much preferable than missing months of Romance and Banter. Having said that, this separation won't be an emotional one...might be of occupation hazards!
The UPS of the show, is C&B!! They know that, and we know that.
Personally, a Kiss would be a perfect ending to this season....and would be even better if its clumsy! as...Always!
Why would marlowe want to change anything. This wtwt think is working very well. Its what keeps this blog humming. The ratings up.Over the summer Marlowe an his crew will be thinking new ways to keep the duo apart.Im sure he will throw all you shippers a bone that way he will know you will be back next season.
