E! Online: Latest from Kristin

meriann29: Hi, any news on Castle

Very good news indeed! In next week's episode, Nathan Fillion reunites with fellow Firefly alum Adam Baldwin, who plays Det. Ethan Slaughter, a tough gang-unit cop brought in to help with a gang case.

"Slaughter definitely has unorthodox methods for crime solving," Baldwin told us, "but when you're in a gang unit you have to sometimes bend the rules a bit.

So this puts a strain certainly on Beckett's judgment of Slaughter's methods in a way that Castle's uncomfortable with. He needs to observe but it's also strangely intoxicating for him too—to come along and see that other darker side." Now if only Castle could see that other side of Beckett—you know, the one that's hopelessly smitten with him. Sigh.

  2. Umm.. How is this very good news? I can see how it's great news for someone like me who is a hardcore 'firefly' and 'chuck' fan, just like with 'castle', but how is it good news for pure Castle fans? I mean sure, i am beyond excited to see Adam and Nathan on the same screen again, but i really, really hope there is some good stuff with Caskett this episore. I know there should be, because they're working together in 4x22, but i'm still anxious..

  4. It's good news cos Kate's trying to figure out what's changed between her and Castle. It's good news because she's actually cluing into why he's been acting the way he has. It's good news because she's now DIRECTLY and UNAVOIDABLY faced with deciding what she wants for them.

It's good news because in all likelihood, working with Slaughter on one case is gonna provide him with a reckoning and realization about exactly how good he's had it working with Kate and Espo and Ryan. Even if Slaughter proves a fun and exciting contrast at first, there's gotta be some ounce of comeuppance too.

Castle may be 'protecting himself emotionally' thru his behavior of late, in the words of Kate's therapist, but it's probably gonna come at a physical cost in terms of injury and/or some more dire set of circumstances.

I don't know if they'll actually put their cards on the table before the finale, or if the overt reveal of their secrets directly to one another will indeed be reserved for the finale, but at least this is some sign of forward movement in terms of understanding.

Castle had is "aha" moment watching Kate in interrogation in 47 Seconds. Kate's gonna have one of her "aha" moments with her therapist here. When Castle's secret finally comes out, that's gonna be another big blow, ripping off the bandaged of whatever wounds they're both trying to protect themselves from, and perhaps that's gonna be the majority of the finale, as opposed to 422.

Dunno. But I'm looking forward to seeing Action Castle, a return to Rockford-meets-Captain-America-With-A-Taser, even if the bottom falls out for him and he hits the ground hard. I'm looking forward to a bit of outright FUN, at long last, amid all the wallowing passive-aggressive angst.

I'm looking forward to Espo & Ryan commenting on Caskett too, not just for a comment on the state of the duo's relationship or lack thereof, but also because it will be about how Castle is now actually a part of the team, that he's part of their family, and that it's not just about what Castle wants or does for muses and inspiration, but how he's effected them, how they feel and what they want for the group.

I'm certainly looking forward to the Firefly reunion. Hawley was so excited to be writing for this ep. Adam & Nathan were so excited to be working together on it. The whole show was happy to have him as a guest. All the actors love imperfect characters and the flaws that make them interesting, and I get the impression that this end-run in the ebb & flow of things, as Nathan has put it, has been something they've probably enjoyed. That's gotta translate to what's onscreen.

Above all, I think really pushes Caskett and the whole gang to the brink of ebb, which means that the long-promised flow is gonna be really good when it finally comes rushing in, in May.
