This season of Castle did anything but start off on a light
note, and the episodes that have followed pretty much matched in tone.
Secrets lingered like unaddressed pink elephants, feelings were
unresolved, and each character wrestled with inner turmoil of various
kinds. As for next season? Creator Andrew Marlowe says fans can expect
much of the air to be cleared.
“I think it’s going to be interesting to see the Beckett/Castle
relationship next season when we have a lot of the cards on the table,
and when they’ve had fundamental confrontations and each of them knows
how the other one feels. I think that’s something that gives us a lot of
really intense, fun storytelling,” he says. Emphasis on fun,
in fact.
Because Marlowe recognizes that this seasons has seen a little
less of that than previous seasons. Appropriate as it was for the story
arc (and, yes, it was) he’s hoping to ramp it back up next season. “Our
goal has always been to be true to these characters as we arc them
through this strange, wonderful, interesting, intense relationship that
they’ve been going through from the moment they met,” he says. “We
didn’t have a chance to mine it as much as we wanted to because of where
the characters were emotionally. We’re hoping to return to it a
little.”
That’s not to say we won’t see fun in the rest of this season. As I
mentioned earlier this week, zombies are invading! But my big question
after he dropped the zombie bomb, will we get to see any of our faves in
zombie garb? “I think we might,” he says.

So I'm assuming season 5 is a pretty much done deal
ReplyDeletei hope there will be a season5! This is by far, my favorite show on television. And when it isnt on, I have castle marathon and begin watching season 1 and dont stop until I get to the end of season3. Cant wait until season 4 comes to dvd and fall to arrive with season5!
DeleteThey need to have a clause in there that REQUIRES Nathan Fillion to lose some serious weight. He's not believable as a leading man as he is now, IMO.
ReplyDeleteBecause of his weight? Are you serious?
Deleteseriously?!
DeleteHere we go again with negative remarks. Just as we get very positive news, you cant just let the rest us have the fun.
DeleteGet a grip. Get a life. Not everybody is as shallow as you.
Have your fun, but the guy is still FAT and needs to lose weight.
DeleteTroll!! Get out of here!!
Deletecome on guys! maybe he has to lose weight for a sex scene with beckett! let's think positive ahahhaha
DeleteWell your opinion sucks. If you think he can't be believable because of his weight, you have some issues you need to work on. Perhaps Dr. Burke can help you?? Seriously.
DeleteHaha! Well said, Anon 2:12 PM!!
DeleteFAT??? Do you wear glasses? Maybe its time to have the eyes checked again.
DeleteFILLION IS FAT! I like the guy, but he's really let himself go. If he was a female actor, there'd be pregnancy rumors and tabloid spreads.
DeleteAs Stana said: "Get ready boys and girls, it's gonna get naughty" :):)
ReplyDeleteI am so ready!!!! Bring it on!!!!
Woohoo!!! Fun in season 5!!
Bring it on!!!!! Cant wait!!!! I am soooo ready for them to get together!!!
DeleteBring IT ON i cant weight
ReplyDeleteI can't wait. Seems like casket will confess their feelings in the finale and start dating in season 5. Awesome and ya I just used that word. And did any of u see the poster for season 5 fans made up?? Likely won't happen though
ReplyDeleteWas it made up by fans? I thought it was made up by Andrew & Co./ABC as a tease for a possible season 5.
DeleteI think it was made up by fans because it was posted by Fanficwriter and they said dont upload the picture, and AM and company doesnt post the season posters till summer, so I think it's most likely by fans
DeleteCan someone post a link so I can see it, too?? Pretty please!
DeleteOk the link is fanficwriterghc.tumblr.com/14226440508/post/castle-season-5-mock-poster. If the number 5 doesnt work, try spelling five. Ok?
Deletei think the first episode will begin with castle and beckett sex scene! uhuh i'm so excited! i'm agree with anon 10:15 AM
ReplyDeleteThey are not going to show Nathan Fillion in any kind of sex scene as long as he is at his present weight. I guarantee that.
Deletei know it, infact i agree with anon 10:15 AM that says that nathan fillion is losing weight for this kind of scene! ;)
DeleteAnon 10:38 + 11:47 Boring.......
DeleteI love Nathan Fillion, but he's let himself go and is now way overweight. Why does saying that mean one is a troll?
ReplyDeleteRead on the definition of troll. You know that weight is such a sensitive topic where ever you go and where ever you post, what ever is your intention. That topic is bound to elicit angry responses. By choosing to go on and post that topic, you are in fact throwing this otherwise good news for season 5 off the tract. Post your wt topic when the topic is his wt... not here in this topic. You can see and read what is the headline topic here and it's not about his wt. So there... you are a troll here.
DeleteI'm kind of amused how people use the word "overweight" sometimes. It's like there are only two states - fit and overweight, with nothing in between. My advise - stop using big words or at least learn their meaning first, and people will be more inclined to have a discussion with you. But now, I'm sorry to say, you just really come across as a troll who wants to rile up fans.
DeleteI'm not the original poster. So why don't you all refer to me as Anonymous4.
DeleteThose of you taking this person to task for an honest reaction to Fillion having let himself go are, in my opinion, off base. By letting himself go, Fillion is being unprofessional.
I get it. Fillion is a favorite actor for many of you and you believe that because you're smitten with him, that everyone else in T.V. land will be, too, and will see past his girth into the beautiful spirit that he possesses. Unfortunately for you that's not realistic.
Whether you like it or not, Fillion's weight is causing him to lose credibility as a leading man. If it weren't, then no one would be posting to that effect. No one would be noticing it. We'd all just be happily "suspending our disbelief." Whether you like it or not, Fillion is turning himself into a character actor. Very few people want to see character actors in torrid love scenes. That's just how it works. That's why casting directors exist. That's why actors like Seth Rogen work to lose weight so that they can expand their options. Fillion is not a special case.
No leading woman in Hollywood would be permitted to let herself go like Fillion has and keep her job. You think they wouldn't kill off Kate Beckett if Katic ballooned out? Fat chance. This is television. For those of you complaining about the opinions of those of us who aren't especially smitten by the man, all you're doing is grasping at a double standard that ultimately doesn't work in the film and television industry. Fillion is a perfectly fine actor. But his image no longer fits a romantic lead. There are lots of excellent actors out there who can do what Fillion does and who haven't let themselves go.
With respect to that Anonymous poster responding to the original post: you don't know what a real troll is. A real troll is someone who tosses off incendiary comments without any thought or attempt to make a case for their opinion. To notice that an actor is noticeably out of shape is hardly the behavior of a troll. Finally, to respond to Brit below, the point isn't whether or not any of us are "entitled" to an opinion. Entitlement has nothing to do with it. We simply do have opinions -- right or wrong, correct or incorrect. The point is whether or not ABC execs in charge of the show become concerned that Fillion's weight issues might turn audiences off. But frankly, it shouldn't get to that point. If Fillion is professional and smart, and if his agent is responsibly on his case, then he'll get himself back in shape before they start shooting again. That's how Hollywood works. He makes big money to serve as a fantasy. Staying in shape is part of his job, a job for which he is paid handsomely. Thus, he must meet higher standards than the rest of us.
Well, I saw him at Comic Con and as far as I could tell he certainly doesn't look like he has lost any weight at all. I guess on the plus side, it didn't look as if he had gained any either. Marlowe said they are going to pick up right where they left off last season...in the bedroom after the kiss. I can't imagine them showing Nathan in ANY scene without his shirt. Even losing 4 pounds a month (not a huge amount by any standards) could take off almost 25 lbs in 6 months.
DeleteApparently Nathan just doesn't care (although I'd bet that if there was going to be another Firefly movie, he'd put all kinds of effort into get in shape for that), and the studio execs let him get away with it. As you noted, Stana would NEVER be allowed to gain that much weight.
Guys seriously?! I mean seriously?! For pete's sake Nathan is a good size. He lost a little bit of weight, and if he wants to lose any more that is his desicion, not any of ours. I mean what entitles any of us to deem him the right size?! That is just shallow. Let the man be whatever size he wants to be. And he isnt fat. stop telling the man he needs to lose weight, he will when he wants to, and you taking out the measuring tape, isn't exactly encouraging!
ReplyDeleteLet's not give the troll anonymous @10:01AM another excitement in life. If we answer more, the more he/she will get the satisfaction he/she needs.Let drop that wt subject.
DeleteLet us focus on the good news!!! Fun Season 5 here we come!!!!
He can be whatever size he wants to be, but it's pathetic that he doesn't even have the discipline to get off his butt and make an effort to lose weight. He's gained weight every single year since he started Castle. He finally gets a show that goes beyond a year and he lets himself go. He's only 41 for crying out loud. Very pathetic.
DeleteI agree anon 10:36 although the person isnt a troll. Lets not talk about his weight anymore. He may lose more weight before season 5, you never know. Let's all just focus on season 5 and how it seems like we will get some casket date scenes!!! Finally! Where do you guys think their first date should be?? Restaunt, paintball arena, laser tag, take out and a movie, etc.?
DeleteYou sound like an unpleasant person, anon 10:36 AM
DeleteSorry
Anon 11:32 Agree 100%!!!
Deleteyes, thank you very much for the information. season 5
ReplyDeleteNathan Fillion is good, has a perfect ass. is so adorable and resistible
I love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
OMG a negative remark. Find out where this person lives an burn them at the stake. Can anybody give there point of view with getting a backlash.
ReplyDeleteTheir "point of view" was to call Nathan Fillion "pathetic", "lazy" and "overweight". Don't you think there was bound to be some "backlash"? If you come in the comments section to be negative at least try to be civil about it.
DeleteSheesh. He's got the money to hire a trainer to help him. It takes an effort to lose weight and he doesn't care to take that effort so he IS lazy. And he's not just overweight, he's down right FAT! Ain't gonna see no sex scenes with Nathan and Stana.
DeleteJust because you are a fan, there's no reason to deny FACTS. I'm a fan as well: I'm just don't have blinders on. If you like to look at his fat bloated face, good for you. I don't find it attractive...he's just put on so much weight in 3 years.
Yep, that's what I was talking about. There's so called "hate speak" in every sentence of your post. Notice, I didn't even disagree with you on the issue, I just answered your question about WHY your comments are getting backlash.
DeleteHey, 11:36 AM, I agree with you - to a point. He certainly is not overweight, and your use of the word means you don't really know what is overweight really. Have you seen overweight people, like those in the commercials? sheesh.. That said, it's TV and he sure needs to slim down. And he will, what with those roles he's doing over the summer like Percy Jackson and dr. Horrible.
DeleteIt's your wording and attitude that has everyone riled, doesn't mean they have blinders on. From all accounts Nathan is a very good person, he's funny, smart and charming, and very nice to people. And yes, still attractive to many, imagine that. And you're talking about him like he is some piece of meat or a despicable person. That's not right and makes people think that you're a troll and a despicable person yourself, don't take offense please, but that is how you come across.
Plus you can't be sure what it is that made him gain weight, may be it's some kind of medical treatment or who knows what. And not everybody can lose weight even if they work out like crazy, that's a FACT too if you're so fond of facts. Assuming things like that might just bite you in the ass on day.
Cheers
Really the whole point is that each blog article has a DIFFERENT topic, yet a troll keeps coming in and posting comments on Nathan's weight, which isn't the topic at all. Someone should start their own blog for superficial b.s. and keep weight comments over there, because it's irrelevant to this post.
DeleteHey you guys know that the best way to lose weight is by having sex, right? Just let Castle and Beckett head off to the Hamptons for a month and by the time he gets back you'll be complaining that he needs to gain a few pounds lol!
ReplyDeleteGod only knows what Beckett would do to the poor guy. He probably wouldn't even be able to walk straight!
You are my hero, Anon 11:24! ;)
DeleteHold on tight boys & girls.... Rick Castle and Kate Beckett will soon experience their LAST, First KISS....
ReplyDeleteahahahhahahahha i agree with anon 11:24 AM
ReplyDeleteIf the moderators (does this blog have moderators?)can't take out those weight posts from this topic, they should just close the comment section of this topic. It's just going to get worse with this wt topic brought up again by the trolls. It's like the bomb in 47 seconds.
ReplyDeleteI think this site does have moderators. They've closed the comment sections of articles before, but it wouldn't make any difference. People will still insist on discussing things that aren't relevant to the article.
DeleteHet guys!! Do you know that the title is "season 5 return to fun!!....
ReplyDeletePatHyp
All I can say to this news is: "Thank goodness!" This season has been way too heavy (no pun intended) for my taste. I've been waiting for more "fun" episodes all season. The only one that really came close for me was "Cuffed". I want to get back to the kind of episodes that made the show so much fun to watch for the first three seasons! Bring it on!
ReplyDeletejust because nathan fillion has gained a bit of weight does not mean he is lazy there are some people that really stuggle with doing excercise and comfort eating. but haters gon hate
ReplyDeleteA bit of weight? He's gained a lot of weight. Just look at his face. He sits on his butt playing computer games in his spare time instead of moving around and trying to lose weight. That is lazy. He's getting $100,00 per episode on Castle, but if he keeps on gaining weight, his acting career is gonna dry up quickly.
DeleteOh youre that person from that other thread who thinks she/he knows what Nathan does in his spare time because he writes about it on Twitter! I wonder what kind of discussion you thought to start with such comments, thoughtful and insightful in depth conversation about NF weight? you really are a troll
DeleteLOL, soo? He can do whatever the fuck he wants, it's his life, his money and his butt, and I'm pretty happy as long as he keeps being as good at his job as he is. You aren't, cause you're as deep as a puddle, well stop watching. And btw, I wouldn't doubt it twice if he wanted to play "videogames" with me.. He can stay "sat on his butt", I'll do the moving ;)
DeleteDo not feed the troll. It will only come back more ridiculous than ever.
DeleteThis makes me think that Castle and Beckett will be official by the end of the season ... but I keep saying under my breath "Don't get your hopes up, don't get your hopes up ..." AHHHHH!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I agree, we need the return of fun episodes. Afterall, despite how Castle is listed as a drama, it's more intended to by light of the drama and heavy on the comedy.
Guys can we please drop the nathan weight issue an just be greeatful we are getting season 5 and the return of the fun eps because i cant wait
ReplyDeleteI'm totally going to get flamed for this, but yes I am going to approach the "weight" subject. It's known that Nate has always had problems with maintaining his weight and this time is no exception. But if I had to guess, I think he gained weight on purpose during the second season of Castle for that movie Super that he was doing.
ReplyDeleteDuring the break between the third and fourth seasons, Nate went to Italy for vacation and ended up coming back with a lot of weight gained (and who can blame him...all that beer and food he was drinking/eating it's hard to avoid), which is why he turned out looking a little more filled out than normal in the fourth season.
Nate is already aware of his weight gain and is actually trying to get back into shape. Last I heard, he has a trainer and is exercising regularly. I don't think anybody will see a drastic change until the start of season five because doing a tv show is really time consuming (I think it's 13-17 hour days on average), but I did notice he seemed to have lost a little weight in the episode The Limey.
Most of this is just what I've heard from others, so I may be wrong.
Anon 01:36, that sounds like awfully reliable insider information. Are you sure you are not Nathan's PR person out here doing a little damage control. Just kidding:)
Deletesoooo.... i wouldnt classify nathan as "fat" yes he may be overweight but he dosent look bad. I mean im only 20 so im not gonna be like "wow hes hot" because he could be my father lol but i definetly think he is attractive for his age and can see why women are attacted to him. If hes loses some weight during the summer thats great (especially if there will be shirtless scenes) but if he dosent that dosent mean hes any less of a great actor:)
ReplyDeleteanyway..sooo excited about season 5! I personally have liked this season (well till the limey and possibly headhunters )despite the heaviness but am excited for a more lighthearted season ! I reeaaalllly realllly hope season 5 we get to see caskett as a couple from the start..fingers crossed!
-brittany
And he needs to dress better. Good grief the guy is a zillionaire and he dresses like an old man.
ReplyDeleteBeckett really, really needs to take charge of his wardrobe!!!
Truth. Looks like all that money they used to spend on his wardrobe in season 1-2 they started to spend on Beckett in season 3-4. Seriously, look closer. She started to slowly get better clothes since about the second half of season 2 while his slowly started to get worse. I just marathoned whole series and noticed that.
Delete(me again, 02:31 PM) Just wanted to add that they look like really cheap clothes, from cheap materials. I don't know what their wardrobe guy is talking about handmade and stuff, you can't make cheap materials look expensive, it shows
DeletePLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make them take it slow.
ReplyDeleteNO DATING OVER THE SUMMER BREAK and coming back as an established couple. I DEMAND to see the first real date.
NO HOPPING INTO BED at the first opportunity. It may surprise Hollywood but for most of America, sleeping together happens AFTER a relationship becomes established and committed and DOES NOT happen on the first date or two.
Easy to do, just have them agree to take it slow because they both so desperately want it to work for ever and for at least Castle, his marriage choices were clearly based on physical attraction and nothing more.
First date is OBVIOUSLY a Yankee game. And they catch a fly ball for the first time in their lives!!
I also want to see their "first" date -- and first everything together! We've been with them on this long journey just to see them where they end up. And i want to see their every step on the new journey together. So, please Marlowe, dont cheat us from those precious moments when they do become a couple!!!
DeleteI agree! I am ready to see them take this relationship to the next level, but that does not mean hop into bed on the first date. I want to see them take the next step and date for awhile before that happens. We have been with them for 4 years now,and I was getting kinda bored with all the distractions they've had along the way. But with all of thier cards laid out on the table now, I will be ready to see things slowly (not too slowly, but not too fast, either) progress in their relationship.
DeleteSo. I apologize for going off topic, but seems this thread was already derailed to kingdom come. Can anybody explain to me what actually overweight means? Because I always thought that unscientifically speaking, it's if your weight is more than your height minus 1 meter (I am european so bear with me about meters). Yeah, I get that it's probably not true completely, but it still seems like a lot to me. I mean I am 1.67 and my weight is 52 kilos, so by that logic I should weigh 67 kilos and am seriously underweight! danger!
ReplyDeleteBut in reality I do not look underweight at all, I have round cheeks (they just never quit, suckers) and quite a bit of a belly (cough) because I never diet, only before summer vacations a little (to look better in a swimsuit))). And my doctor once told me that ideally I should weigh about 60 kilos with my height. Yeah, well I have to tell you if I ever gain that much I will look pretty fat! So my take is that to be overweight you need to seriously excel that "height minus 100 cm" mark, while I am struggling (if you can call it that) with a belly even being 15 kilos underweight!
See my dilemma? I don't understand what people really mean when they say it, just immediately picture people who have trouble getting around, that kind of thing. But I guess that person in the comments above can't mean this about Nathan, right? Because he just doesn't look like that, he looks like a normal 40 year old dude actually, not so much from TV may be but from real life.
Can somebody explain please, and without derogatory words about anyone please. Thank you. Sorry for OT, I'm just really curious.
Sounds like you just need to do some sit-ups and a bit of exercise to flatten out your stomach. Seems like you are pretty underweight for your height so I certainly wouldn't recommend dieting! It makes me sad when people (like on here) go on and on about people being 'fat'. As long as you are healthy, eat well and do exercise then it is really not a good idea to obsess about your weight or other peoples'. I agree that Nathan Fillion has put on weight but he's still a damn good-looking guy! Plus being on TV always seems to make people look chunkier than they actually are.
DeleteThanks for the reply, but I am not obsessing about dieting oh no!))) I eat whatever I want, people can't believe how much I can put away at one go))) And I don't do any exercise, when I need to slim down I just stop eating steaks before midnight, that kinda thing. What I don't understand is that I am apparently seriously underweight yet don't look it at all (and that's OK, I'm fine with my look). And yet when NF appears to have sort of the same "problem" as me (of course bigger, but again proportionately he's much, much taller) people call him overweight. For all I know he could be as underweight as me, or his perfect weight. And I'm not talking pro or contra here, it's not about him even as much as I just don't get this weight thing.
DeleteI love to see all their firsts: fist real kiss, fist date, first hop in the bed:), first lovers quarrel, first make up sex etc:) Ohh I can't wait...
ReplyDeleteTo all the Anons.... which of you would kick him out of bed? and to Anon 2:11, yes, it's a Yankees - Red Sox game and it's a David Ortiz home run that wins the game.
ReplyDeleteI certainly wouldn't! Weight gain or not, he's bloody good-looking and charming still.
Delete@02:26 PM, i agree with you totally!
ReplyDeleteseriously if he's underweight or overweight it's his decision! not your's people! just enjoy the acting and story.
Oh. Oh. Yay!! So many good news!!! Season 5 is guaranteed, n we'll have our sweet reward for waiting patiently in this highly emotional season. See, this is why I love this show! XD. And, yeah. They need to show us Caskett's first everything!!! Can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteA peculiar comment about NF's weight. Meh. Not worth my time. Pathetic people will be pathetic.
You are definitely right! They need to show Caskett's first,I don't wanna feel cheated.I hope they admit they love each other this season finale and that will be it,no bed hopping for a while or at least during the hiatus!Cannot wait for Caskett to happen!!
DeleteCastle is really really good-looking...but maybe Kate could take him for a run at Central Park ;) and he could make pancakes for her! (sorry, my english is really bad lol)
ReplyDeleteThat was perfect English! (except we would say 'take him for a run in Central Park' not 'at Central Park')
Deletehey thanks! :)
DeleteHeaving aside the issue of Nathan's weight for the moment, despite all the angst and whining heard on some other threads, I think things are looking good for an exciting end to this season and an enjoyable season 5. In the finale, Castle & Becket will put their feelings for each other on the table and do some kissing but something will intervene to prevent them from doing the deed. Next season they will get back to some of the fun romantic banter of past seasons but it will be at a new level since their feelings are out in the open. As for how long it will take them to actually do the deed, your guess is as good as mine (season 5 finale?).
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plausible route the show could take. Though, I prefer them being official together already. Whichever way season 5 is going, I just so glad they'll be back on my Monday's nights. Looking forward to see fun banters and Beckett yanking on Castle's nose and ears. ;)
Deletereally? in real life people that are as close as they are (and their age and each having had multiple sex partners already) and then start dating would never wait to sleep with each other once they decide to go for a relationship. that just seems ridiculous.
DeleteAnon 11:03, you are correct. If it was real life they would have slept together in season 1 or early season 2 and they would have broken up or be married by season 3 and the series would be over. So it is clear that to have a good story arc for scripted TV, it is necessary to diverge from "real life" sometimes.
DeleteThe haters gonna hate, but do you guys who are picking on (or defending) Nathan's "over"weight realize how lame and kind of ironic the situation is? Four, five months ago, everyone was b**ching about how "skinny and anorexic" Stana Katic apparently looked.
ReplyDeleteNow the same people saying that Stana was too thin are calling Nathan fat! Does that make any sense?
Sure, maybe he doesn't look his best. Maybe he's not working out 24/7 and doesn't have abs the the Hulk. Know why? He's making YOU entertainment. And who are you to say what someone's perfect weigh is? "Oh, Stana's too skinny" or "Nathan's gotten so fat."
You know what counts people? Talent. And talent is not based on size.
Ali
Did you just say size doesn't matter??
DeleteTrust me, it does :-)
Steering away from the repetitive hot topic surrounding Nathan's weight and "tiredness", I have an interesting theory that I came up with on the previous article.
ReplyDeleteWhat if Rick has to give up his freedom (rather than his life) in order to protect Kate in the finale? This would mean he either gets arrested for something or kidnapped by the Dragon. I'd lean more towards prison rather than being forcibly held in captivity by the Dragon (maybe he gets wrongfully arrested for murder and is being held in custody during the summer). While he's being taken away he and Kate could reaffirm their love with a simultaneous "always". Kate could then spend the summer trying to find a way to break him out of his captivity. In the Season 3 episode "Anatomy of a Murder", Kate said to Rick near the end of the episode that she would break him out of prison. This was after Martha told Rick that breaking someone out of prison is true love and in fact a male character had smuggled his true love out of prison during the episode.
What do you guys think?
I think its brilliant Anon 10.32
DeleteMartha did say, if someone breaks you out of jail thats true love my boy! And it would be a good foreshadowing back from season 3. I am just afraid, since there was that piece where Beckett arrested Castle earlier in the show, wonder if marlowe will repeat it.
I do think there there will be a physical (not emotional) separation of the two as the cliffhanger....partly b/c that would be the only way to keep the the story in real time. It would also give a chance for the writers to not miss out on the crucial beginning stages of this Epic romance! I mean really does the viewer want a half baked rushed job.... We have patiently waitied for it for four years, whats a couple of episodes into season 5.
Your thoughts?
Gosh I hope so.
DeleteKidnapping doesn't really work, Dragon kills folks. He don't do kidnapping.
But Castle behind bars accused of murder giving Beckett all summer to figure out how to get him out would be perfect.
Anon 10.32 PM here again. Thanks for your feedback guys! Anon 10.53 PM, yip you're definitely right there, I don't think that it's very likely that Rick will be kidnapped by the Dragon as he kills those who could expose him.
DeleteAnon 10.48 PM, agree with you too. In the first two season enders we watched them deal with emotional trauma that split them apart. In the Season 3 season ender we obviously had Kate shot leading to a physical separation. If my first theory about him being arrested/held captive doesn't eventuate then maybe we'll have another physical type separation with Rick being the one in danger. Perhaps being left in a coma or something like that by seasons end?
You know, there have been heaps of really intriguing theories by people as to how they think the season will end. Andrew Marlowe's is the one that counts and by the way people have been speculating he's gonna have to do bloody well to top a lot of them!
I am incredibly excited for next season. And I'm incredibly excited for the end of this season.
ReplyDeleteFor those stressing about The Limey, and the eps before the finale, I wrote this short piece to try and understand what could/what I wish would happen:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7998675/1/
I'm excited by this show, too, but......writing a fan fiction taken from a fiction(!!!) reminds me the "why didn't have you slept with me? Not me-me; her-me" and the Castle's answer in the season 3 ep 11 with Natalie Rhodes!!
DeleteExcellent job. Most believable. Cheered me up no end. Thanks Anon 3:37
DeleteWell I for one am sure there will be season 5 obviously but sad to say up until now I have not really enjoyed this season, little continuity, too drawn out with filler episodes, too little fun - that's a word being used a lot by people I know - and the secrets story line has not engaged me at all. I can name about 5 or 6 episodes this year I have actually enjoyed and would watch again, this was not the case in past seasons.
ReplyDeleteThe last few episodes have been disappointing and I find Kate and Rick are just getting increasingly behaving more unlike the people I used to think I knew. I want fun, quick fire, Rick Castle back and I want smart and sassy Kate who clearly adored Rick underneath it all back please and pronto!
I don't want to miss them getting together but sadly my trust in Marlowe has been practically extinguished after so many interviews alluding to things that just never happen. I'll believe they have a romantic moment in the finale when I actually see it.
As for season 5, I want them to be together as a couple or at least start to get together right from the premiere. No more foot dragging by Marlowe with other people or secrets or any other excuse as to why these two cannot be together. You risk getting to a point where you spend too long keeping them apart due to obviously manufactured scenarios - fans can spot this - they get annoyed and eventually drift away to find a show that can give them want they want.
So I hope Marlowe really does mean that we will get the fun back and also that his hints that they may finally have acknowledged what they are to each other is true and they move forward from there in a POSITIVE way.
I don't want them splitting up and getting together again, this is not a soap opera!
As for Nathan's weight, yes he has gained some and I've noticed in comparison to seasons 1/2 but he is not fat, he looks in fact like many forty year old man I know (except Nathan is much better looking and more charming!). I'm glad he doesn't look like some ridiculous figure of perfection - I can't relate to someone like that and I get fed up watching these shows on TV where everyone looks like a model. I have no doubt if there is a sex scene coming up either this season or next (more likely next) Nathan will be fit for it!
As for Kate she has fallen in love with the whole man after four years not just the outer packaging, I doubt she notices, when your in love you don't really. She's not just in love with his looks - it would be sad if that's all we wanted in a partner as our prime concern.
Although I will say that the wardrobe guy sometimes needs shooting over some of the clothing he dresses Nathan and Stana in.
But please lets not insult the actors, if you want to get annoyed at the character then fine by all means because I get frustrated with them too but anything else is crossing the line and I feel it's very uncalled for.
What if Alexis's graduation speech is part of the cliffhanger... like she doesn't come up to the podium when her name is called and we see Castle & Martha and perhaps Beckett, Ry, and Espo looking on in confusion and, then duh, duh, duh! It dawns on them all that The Dragon has taken her? Cue fade to black.
ReplyDeletePrior to that cliffhanger we see Caskett confirmed their love either by just the words and some kissing or something more, but now Alexis is kidnapped. To keep it in real time we wouldn't necessarily miss a lot of Caskett because it could pick up with everyone searching for Alexis and we can think that even though Caskett are together, they haven't had much time for their relationship because of the stress of losing Alexis....
Or....
Alexis is kidnapped in the finale, but found by the end of the episode (we still get the same scenario with Caskett declaring their feelings and starting their relationship) but because of the danger Castle put his daughter in he decides to quit shadowing Beckett and goes traveling with Alexis before she begins college. Season 5 would start with him returning and his relationship with Beckett consisting of phone calls, but now we have to see what bringd Castle back to shadowing Beckett and the guys. Alexis could be the one pushing him to go back. A false sense of security would have to be in notion. So The Dragon would have to be put to rest only for them to find out later he's still very much out there.
I'm just making crap up, lol, but i'm pretty positive that AM and crew could do much, much better. HaHa!
nice ideas! those could play out very well i think!
DeleteAm I the only person who is hesitant to think Castle and Beckett will be in a relationship next season? This interview with AM makes me believe they won't be even more than before.
ReplyDeleteI think in the season finale they will know where they stand with each other (declaring their love) but Beckett will put some blockade up to them being in a relationship right away. Then when season 5 picks back up we will get a lot more "fun" episodes with them acting more like they did in season 1/2. Castle will constantly be flirting with her, she would banter with him about being at work and it being unprofessional, and then we'd also see Beckett being all flirty and teasing Castle back too. Then at some later point, Beckett would finally give in and then they'd start their official relationship.
Another route that the writers could take is that Castle and Beckett try to keep their relationship a secret from the rest of the gang... so there would be a lot of sneaking around in the break room and interrogation room (I can only imagine what they could do in there wink wink!). That way there is a fun element to the show again!
Just my thoughts! I can't wait to see what happens! Bring on the finale and season 5!
Its all in the eyes of the beholder. Some say fat some say awesome. Ive heard that the tv put at least 10 pounds on a person. Most is in the warderobe and nathans sucks. To me he wares the same crap all the time. Where do they get his warderobe Goodwill. Nathan lose 10 pounds, get a new wardrobe those people who say fat will be saying awesome.
ReplyDeleteHis fatness shows in his face. That's NOT something that can be "hidden" by a new wardrobe
DeleteOmfg seriously can people talk about the actual topic not make there own one up about Nathan's weight. Jeez we get some positive news about a season 5 and all people are interested in is the size of the main characters.
ReplyDeleteOk with you...
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of people complaining about Nathan's weight- it physically exhausts me to read comments about it. Everything regarding his weight has already been said multiple times, so leave the poor guy alone for crying out loud! He's not perfect, and neither are any of you. You're not going to change anything by discussing it, so let it go.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't quite get what these posters hope to achieve. That it gonna be brought up in the news? That we all write an open letter to NF? That everybody gonna come up with new and inventive ways to describe the issue? It only pisses people off and that's all
DeleteAll the will they- won't they tv relationships skip the actual 'relationship' part.
ReplyDeleteBones is nice - but i really hope AM doesn't chicken out and do the same thing here. I will have a lot more respect for him if we get to see the first kiss, the first date, the first... well you know :)
Doing it in a way that's both sweet and true and not sickly or cheesy will be tough though and if AM pulls it off... well... it is possible to give someone a nobel prize for tv? :)
I don't want him to mess it up. But at the same time Castle and Beckett have so much chemistry that this is the first couple who really should be able to pull off an on-screen get together.
If's it's done the RIGHT way...
As far as the finale goes i think it will end with Castle and Beckett agreeing they are more than just friends... but wondering if they can put the trust back in their relationship to actually be in one.
I know the titles called 'Always.' But i don't think it's quite that straight foward.
We shall see.
I also agree with some of the above and Castle does need to lose weight. They play the early episodes over here and looking at B and C then, they look like they belong together. Rick's still handsome now. But he's not 'ruggedly handsome.'You'd think someone would have a quick word in his ear. Not in a horrible way. Just in a truthful way. I know if i was him and i had a big love scene coming up...
I'm just saying.
Kate looks more and more like a supermodel every day. I know Stana Katic likes the idea that Beckett can be in charge of men and still be girlie but personally i think her look was more 'cop' in season one. Now... she just looks like a supermodel. Although on the upside she's very nice for us to look at :)
P.S Where are the freaking sneek peaks! And why the hell take a two week break NOW! IS ANDREW MARLOWE TRYING TO KILL US!
Sneak peeks won't be out until next Thursday
DeleteWhat's the big deal with "Bones"?
DeleteI never saw that show and I wonder why it is often compared to Castle, I mean I suppose there's a male and female detective who have a love story, but, please, someone can tell me why it should be the same or not evolution? Thanks
PatHyp
I totally agree, Beckett with short hair just works better she appears tuffer/stronger and more serious. Dont get me wrong as I am a huge fan of her hair the way it is now too. As for Nathan he is a BRAND and needs to look after the BRAND that is FILLION. The women love him for the buff look and the rugged hansom man from season 1 & 2. Its not about the weight just about looking after your self and a bit of self respect. You only have one place to live ;)

I am going to turn against the tide seemingly and say that I think Season 4 has been yet another great season of this show. People have been saying that there has been a lack of movement between Rick and Kate and that therefore this means that Season 4 has been a waste of time, but I respectfully disagree. I think all our opinions (whether or not we are happy or disappointed with Season 4), have been derived from the fact that a lot of us care about these two characters as if they were real people in our lives (yes I know it's just a TV Show but that doesn't make any of us obsessive about it!). Some of us want to see them just get on with it already and some are happy that they need to sort out their own personal baggage before diving into a relationship. I fit into the latter part. From my point of view Kate is the one stalling progress (although Rick could have said to himself "to hell with it" and ignored her request to wait until the people behind her mother's murder were brought to justice). Kate is still trying to hide behind that "wall" of hers and up until The Limey and the girl's night with Lanie, has been in denial about her feelings for Rick. I feel that they needed to make Rick go AWOL to force Kate out of hiding. It's hard to watch him fall, but once Kate reveals how she feels I think he will get back to the man he has become since being around Kate. I also think it's going to take seeing Rick in life-threatening danger to force Kate to admit her feelings to Rick to his face, just like it was for Rick back at Montgomery's funeral when Kate got shot and he finally professed his love for her. We are going through a rough patch right now but these last three episodes will be very intriguing.
ReplyDelete"Season 4 has been yet another great season" I agree, different but great
DeleteI concur. Every week, it seemed like not too much was happening; we were waiting for the big moments that are happening now. But going back to watch it all over from the beginning, the episodes have been mostly awesome, the overall story so well told, slow progression and all. Season 4 is another great one, pending epic. I love this show.
DeleteAnon 1.42 PM here again. Thanks for the replies! Yes this season certainly has had a different vibe to it, something they more or less acknowledged in this article at least. That was because of these lingering secrets that Castle and Beckett are or were keeping from each other. That's not to say that the episodes have suffered because of it. Probably only Heartbreak Hotel, the two-parter and The Limey have been episodes that most fans may not consider watching again. That's a pretty good success rate for a show into it's fourth season. The fun certainly hasn't gone out of Season 4, it has just been pulled back a little because of the secrets theme. By the sound of it they are wanting to move back into that full on fun theme that was the backbone of the first three seasons, with obviously the potential added benefit of Rick and Kate dealing with a relationship on top of all of that.
DeleteWouldn't it be some irony if the Cole Maddox character infiltrates the 12th precinct b/c Castle decided he needs a break from them and tags along with slaughter? & Rick is the only person who knows THAT face!!
ReplyDeleteWont happen probably but just a thought.
People are really going on an on about Nathan gaining weight, yes he has....but go back and watch season 1... Can you really identify our current Rick Castle with that boyish look from season 1&2? I couldn't. I am almost certain that if he were to lose all that weight, the face we associate with the depth of today's Castle will be somewhat lost.
I must admit I too have come a long way from those initial reactions after watching Limey. I truly felt uncomfortable throughout that episode. I am not sure which made me feel worse, Rick's behavior which even a 6 yr old would dismiss as childish or Kate's look of desperation as she watches her world spin out of control. AWM got the reaction he was aiming for, from these characters and what's more from his viewers! That my friend is really good story telling!!
Marlowe absolutely needed Kate Beckett utterly nervous, running from pillar to post trying to figure out what changed and more importantly how to fix it!! I cannot stand this angst, but I also know left to her we would be in season 7-8 by the time she is ready to break the wall that's been her loyal friend for over a decade! We have witnessed her tear it down one brick at a time but shattering it in one blow requires fear or FURY. It needed a crisis. Rick distancing himself will be the catalyst, but I think the final trigger would be his injury. (Remember in 47secs; people had plans, hopes and dreams and they never got the chance)!!! She needed a CRISIS and lucky for her, Rick steps up and turns into a jackass!!
Marlowe is already moving in the direction of a REAL relationship, timeline may not be exactly in sync with the viewers. I feel season 5 would be the age of romance since they do confront each other directly and at least we know that THEY know! Which is 'Always' crucial in terms of future castles babies!!
Them being separated to end a season is much preferable than missing months of Romance and Banter. Having said that, this separation won't be an emotional one...might be of occupation hazards!
The UPS of the show, is C&B!! They know that, and we know that.
Personally, a Kiss would be a perfect ending to this season....and would be even better if its a bit clumsy! as...Always!
The theory I like best at the moment is the one where Castle gets arrested/injured/taken hostage at the end of the season. That will ensure that C&B will be apart, but not mad at each other.
DeleteIdeally, when season 5 starts they'll rescue each other, reunite on good terms, and the audience will not have missed any key relationship moments.
Since season 5 will be a return to fun & antics, I liked the idea that the season will involve C&B trying to keep their relationship a secret from everyone else at work (similar to what Lanie & Esposito tried to do) but, it will be obvious to everyone that C&B are crazy about each other...
ReplyDeleteI think adhering to a story like this would create a lot of funny & flirty moments for C&B. :)
That's a funny idea voyle. Have you read the Nikki Heat novels? For a while in their timeline both Nikki and Rook tried (unsuccessfully) to keep their relationship secret. It would be an interesting parallel with the Castle universe, although Ryan, Esposito and Lanie are all aware of how close Castle and Beckett really are (probably even more at this point than Castle and Beckett do lol).
Delete@Anon8:19
DeleteYeah you're right, they did go that route in the novels for a little while, though I think with fewer antics than would be present in the TV show.
It's probably inevitable that the novels and TV show will mirror each other more closely once C&B get together. :)
I am hoping they will reference the novels a bit more in the TV show, since we got to see some of Beckett's reactions to 'Heat Wave', but less so so to the other books.
'Heat Rises' was such a love letter of a novel from Castle to Beckett...I know that they can't spoil the plot of the novel in the show, but I would have loved to see Beckett's reaction reading it.
Anon 8.19 PM here again. Remember the swing set scene in Rise? Kate's holding onto the Heat Rises book and she says "must have been hard writing that ending", that ending being Jameson Rook, the character based on Rick took a bullet (and was still alive at the end of the book) for Nikki. It was basically Rick saying through the words in his book that he wished it was him that had taken the bullet during that funeral for Roy Montgomery. That pretty much sums up how much he loves her, that he was willing to take a bullet for her.
DeleteWell, thanks! I didn't read the books yet and, you're right, it's an important detail.
DeleteBut, in his books, he's writing what he would like to happen, and in his real life, things are totally different, right?
Oops sorry, shouldv'e put spoiler alert on my post! I think the best way to explain the books is they're much like that Blue Butterfly episode, where his imagination runs wild. Hope this helps (and again, sorry if I spoiled any surprises about the books).
DeleteIt's alright, I will read the books more for the fun aspect than for the story itself. I understand what you mean by Blue Butterfly and I really thought it was looking like that.
DeleteHave a good day.
PatHyp
This "fun" announcement comes across as damage control from the network.
ReplyDeleteFinally admitting he managed to suck the life and chemistry out of 2 of the most sizzling pairings TV has seen in a long time.
Is he sucking the life out of them or is he finally forcing them to talk about the issue that they've tip-toed around each other for so long about (that they love each other)? Funny how people have complained about an apparent lack of movement between the two and the moment the creators put the two of them in a position where they can no longer hide from their feelings people still aren't happy!
DeleteIt's true that the season finale will (finally) bring C&B to the point where they directly address their issues, but that doesn't make up for the fact that some of the events leading up to this confrontation could have been planned a little better.
Delete"Cops & Robbers" & "Cuffed" felt like a huge leaps forward relationship wise, in addition to when Beckett said she wanted to be "more than her mother's murder"... but it all seemed to have amounted to nothing after that awkward hand-holding scene in "An Embarrassment of Bitches". The escape from the sinking car in Linchpin also felt awkward--it was a missed opportunity for C&B to connect. (I also feel that Beckett gave up on Castle too easily at the end of "The Limey". Her main strength is supposed to be her determination, after all!)
They did do a lot of things right this season, and I enjoyed most of the episodes overall enough to re-watch them but I feel like if they had injected more warmth in C&B's interactions & shown some of the episodes in a different order this season would have been slightly less frustrating. A sense of steady progression with an inkling of hope is more satisfying than "1 step forward, 2 steps back".
Funny how I still see the chemistry and the fun. The holding pattern was explained in Rise amd is now kickimg back into gear and mentioned in the dialogue as an OBVIOUS thing done on purpose to get to the point we're at now.
DeleteThis fandom is so hypocritical and doesn't know what it wants and then wants to get mad at AM for saying what some of have been saying all season long.
If he listened to the collective online audience, the show would be canceled by now.
I think Aam is doing a great job and all the actors are too.
As for the weight thing...
I certainly wouldn't kick Nathan out of bed and the character of Beckett hasn't stopped loving him, so booyah! to the people complaining. I think Nathan looks good and could watch him all day over the pretty boys on CW and the hottie O'Laughlin on Hawaii 5-0. He has something about him way more appealing... that charm and personality goes a longggg way for me.
Just because Beckett is confident and deternined and strong as a detective doesn't equate to thise same traits being a part of her personal relationships amd this show has done everything since the pilot to show us that
DeleteWhere are some fans seeing this woman as being determined in her interpersonal relationships?
She gave up on Will easily when he left her to go to Boston. She never did anything about her feelings for Royce. She didn't even have the nerve to tell Demming why they couldn't work. She admitted to Castle that she goes into relationships with one foot out the door and was doing that with Josh until she began to want something mire, which I still feel manifested from her feelings for Castle the more he was there amd Josh wasn't.
Castle admitted she hid in these nowhere relationships with men she doesn't love and she confirmed he was right in Rise.
Even in Killshot when asked if she was ready to let go of her mom's death she said.... "I THINK so..."
That wasn't 100% assurance, imo, so the fact that she continued to hide behind the holding pattern that the writers are now addressing and some fans can't take is to show that Beckett is still not fully ready to dive in with Castle, and honestly more than any other man she's ever been with, Castle is the one that scares her the most because he doesn't stop his love or brings with it conditions and loves her in spite of her being damaged, which I also feel keeps her from communicating with others.
She may not feel worthy of being loved or confident that she can love without being hurt or disappointed or losing someone else she loves. She's a practical character. She doesn't believe in absolutes and taking risks. She's very much in character now in spite of claims that she isn't.
She's struggling for a breakthtrough now that she feels Castle's pulling away. She's already lost so much, she doesn't want to lose him, too.
I think AM has done a fantastic job. Beckett was comfortable with the status quo between she and Castle. She was hiding still. Just because she thought she was ready, didn't mean AM had to have it happen overnight. So glad he stretched it out and with signs that a part of Kate wanted to leap but didn't have the nerve to follow through.
I feel she's close to breaking down that wall completely and letting Castle in and am patient enough to wait longer. For me it's not just sbout Caskett's relationship. I want each character to find happiness and if they habe to go through a storm to get to the ray of sunshine, I won't begrudge them the chance to shine.
Keep up the great work AM. It's your show. Our remotes.
I hope Marlowe means the fun bit this time. He had promised us fun in season 4 too, but, the whole season was anything but fun. I hope he delivers on his promise the next season. Next season we want to see Caskett dating, being naughty, having fun and of course talking about their love. No more subtext please.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely NO fun in Season 4? Really? So the Superhero themed episode (#2) had no fun in it, or the Demons episode with that hilarious girlie scream from Rick, or the entire episode of Cuffed? Shall I go on?
DeleteDon't forget Eye of The Beholder. Jealous Beckett is always a riot! HaHa! Or Heartbreak Hotel. I laughed so much in that one. Also Embarrassment was a hoot and even in the serious episodes we had some LOL moments.
DeleteThese fans are acting like Castle is Big Bang Theory. Even in seasons 1 & 2 the show had a good balance of fun and serious/dark episodes. I rewatch the show often and personally watch the latter seasons more becsuse the characters have grown so much and have become more real emotionally. There's something to fight for now whereas the earlier seasons Castle & Beckett were content to just be together with nothing there pushing them to become a couple until the Demming arc. Love that arc!
You can only flirt and tease so much before something else is needed to add to the dynamic.... and the characters still have fun and keep up the laughs. I'm not sure what some of these fans are missing other than the flirting banter which really didn't fit in this season with the holding pattern, yet we saw Caskett slip and do it still, but in a more knowing manner about with their status for the future and then that secret came out and now we're dealing with Castle feeling like a fool and Beckett nonethewiser.
I'm loving it all! Some people are never happy. Nothing we can do about it. To think a show would stay stuck in a particular season is asinine. Storylines change amd characters evolve.
What's with all this fat-shaming, guys? I just read all the comments and wow! If you were talking about average people like that - "lazy", "no self respect", "pathetic", "sits on his butt playing computer games" and so on, you'd be accused of bullying and stuff. And I'm sure half of you guys would be furious about this too if it were about someone not famous. Now I get that famous people are free game for everybody, but that's a bit too much, especially the guy is nowhere near overweight jeez..
ReplyDeleteI get he's an actor and you have the right to complain if you don't like what you see on TV, but what's with all these far reaching conclusions about his character and circumstances, like you know his life? My bro had to take medication that made him gain weight and changed his appearance too, for instance. I'm not saying that's what happened but you have no way of knowing either, and you act like without you precious input Nathan wouldn't know how he looks and what's wrong or right at all. I've only recently tuned into Castle, but such attitude makes me question if I want to have any interaction with the fandom. Or may be I just need to find another board.
It's this fandom. No matter what board you go to, they ALL are like this. Full of hatred, venom and hypocrisy. I hate the overall tone of this fandom. The 12th, the ABC board, Castle Lounge, this blog site... ALL of them are full of fans crying and complaining and whining and the 12th is run by a Queen Bit#h who thinks she knows the characters better than AM and if you disagree with her she edits your posts to get you not to prove her "facts" are shared with us all. I hate that board, too, which is supposed to be full of optimists, but even they are hypocrites because they want to spin the show in their own way.
DeleteThis entire fandom can't take it when Caskett go through trials and tribulations and they crucify the writers, the actors, the characters, and every episode and ESPECIALLY MARLOWE.
You would think this was the worst tv show ever on tv and the optimists lose it whenever the couple fights and can't handle when people can accept that everything won't always be perfect and that sometimes the characters will behave a certain way and there's no ne need to be all sensitive over it.
Ugh.
I have yet to find a place to discuss the show without fans threatening to walk away or not watch an episode because they can't take it. At least not in the Castle fandom.
I would love to discuss the show with people who can handle the stress of the ship as well as the good times without crying and whining.
I know a place, but sadly it's part of another fandom's website.
This fandom is a mess all over.
You may want to try Castletv.net forums. I do enjoy the varying opinions there and the atmosphere seems a bit mire mature than at the 12th, ABC boards, Castle Lounge, and especially this site which seems like a bunch of 15 year olds post here who've never been in love, let alone know that sometimes even adults have moments of immaturity and fears and insecurities that prevents them from communicating.
To give up on the show and diss the actors, yell hatred for the characters and the showrunner, etc. and not to expect them to sometimes fail or hurt each other or simply just be (complaints of the holding pattern thst is now broken yet still being received with negativity) is a bit ridiculous, imo.
I have issues with "shippers" of this fandom. They act like they've never watched a will they/won't they show and don't get how it works or compare it to other will they/won't they shows and expect it to be a race with Marlowe putting Caskett together before so and so did because it's not real to dance around feelings for 4 years. IT IS A TV SHOW!
Not even the Bones shippers are this bad and we've stuck it out through MUCH worse than anything Caskett's EVER gone through.
I still love the show and the actors and Marlowe and the fandom has disappointed me more than the show ever has.
I have been thinking about giving up the fandom and stick with the ither fandom's site where we discuss everything from Bones to Castle to The Mentalist to The Vampire Diaries, etc.
And we can agree to disagree without being all sensitive about it or negative.
So, What are you doing here?
DeleteReading spoilers and usually rolling my eyes at how immature some of these comments are. I can't believe people are calling Nathan fat and saying AM sucks or the show sucks and this or that...
DeleteIt's ridiculous.
Back to reading spoilers since it's hard to have a decent conversation in this fandom without people blaiming one character for this or another for that and it's just a mess all around.
I've been part of plenty of fandoms and this stuff is bound to happen but that is ALL that happens in this fandom and you can barely discuss the show without fighting.
You would think this was the worst show ever. Good thing the casual audience keeps tuning in and not posting online otherwise this show would be canceled.
That's why AM has to think about other fans besides the shippers, who are some of the worst in this fandom. Ugh.
Good point. This blog seems to be the refuge of many, many women who live vicariously through a fictional romance. It's kind of pathetic.
DeleteAnd yet Anonymous 601 here you are. Bitch about negativity and then be negative right back. If you don't like it... don't come here problem solved.
ReplyDeleteFillion IS overweight it IS noticeable but so what maybe he'll work on it, maybe he won't. People need to stop deluding themselves into thinking these actors are anything but human.
Yes, seeing an episode of Castle and then watching Serenity... can make a person step back.
I personally enjoy the personality of the character Castle, who cares what he looks like. Do I think Fillion looked better before? Sure, but what keeps the show interesting is the characters personalities (disregarding the Limey where I think he was being a douche).
I think what most people who complain about the weight issue are those who want to see a complete Caskett relationship (yes, including possibly shirtless love scenes). Fillion CAN be a very handsome man, but for some reason he's going the John Travolta route but whatever... so maybe we don;t get love scenes because of it... at this point I just want Castle to not be a douche and for those two to at least have a knock down drag out fight over their feelings.
Although it does show how much she really loves him for her to still want him over sexy hot stud Hunt (despite the fact I am not sure I could understand half of what he said). I mean Beckett is extremely pretty, she could have a pick of guys I'm sure and at THIS point (not in the past, possibly not in the future) I doubt anyone is wanting to get with Castle cause of his body (more like his MONEY).
I watches Serenity yesterday I KNOW Fillion can be sexy, he just apparently has to WANT to be.
ya really think Castle can only be desirable for his money? Fillion too? I was kinda nodding along with you post till this point. now I think you're kinda pathetic, sorry
DeleteOh grow up. I said I liked Castle for his personality for his character which has improved over the seasons. Someone who just met the guy and only knows of Richard Castle the writer IS only going to be after him for his money no way to know the person that has been written of the past 3.5 years. Especially if he was acting like old Rick Castle of season 1. As for Fillion who cares I wouldn't go after him for several reasons no matter what money he had. The only reason I care about his looks is they obviously directly correlates to Castles. I don't know Fillion, don't care if I ever meet the guy. But Rick Castle is in my tv every every Monday and I'd like him looking nice. Tired of leading men who can let them selves go and we are still expected to believe the in shape ( cause like TPTB would ever let them be any different ) leading lady is physically attracted to them. It's a double standard in the industry. If Katic was carrying an extra 25 or so pounds not only would viewers be all over her but those in charge as well. And I don't want to hear he's forty either. There are several leading men that age and older who are v trim. I want Caskett together but I want to believe that not only do they have an emotional connection but a physical one as well.
ReplyDeleteHi! I agree.I wouldnt go for fillion either, I think he is really imature and not very smart, not like Stana anyway, why would Ineed a guy who loves aliens and videogames more than me, right. I soo dont undestand this stanatic shippers, Stana is so clearly above intelectualy its not even funny. though I still think hesa kind of goodlooking still but really imatture
DeleteOh, for God's sake, what a load of BS! Are you 13 or what? Learn grammar first, THEN talk smack to boys your own age about being "immature" (with double "m").
DeleteWhat I don't understand is that Beckett is a detective right? Sooooo you would think that she would start to wonder why Castle is being weird to her all of a sudden and then figure out that it was that one day with the explosion where he was being sweet and then all of a sudden cold towards her, right?
ReplyDeleteI mean I know that if my friend is being passive-agressive towards me all of a sudden, I start to think back to what happened between us and I figure out what ticked my friend off and try to fix the problem but Beckett hasn't even tried to do that. I mean it's pretty simple, because he changed that one day and if she thought about everything that happened that one day, she could definitely piece together the fact that he heard her say that she remembered everything.
But instead of trying to figure that out she's acting like a child who has to be told everything by everyone else (such as Lanie and her therapist) instead of using her brain and intuition to get to the source.
*(And if you're going to respond to my comment please don't tell me that this is all Castle's fault and that he's an ass and all that crap because it's NOT all his fault, he's NOT an ass and Beckett isn't really trying hard enough and you know it.)*
I do agree with what you're saying Seema. I think this whole dark period is going to be a real wake up call for Kate. We've known for quite some time (since the Demming arc), that she has deep feelings for Rick, but what the conversation in The Limey between her and Lanie showed is that she has also been in denial for a long time. I guess that she just thought she could keep him at arm's length while she attempted to sort herself out and he would turn up every day like a loyal puppy, meaning in her mind she never needed to take things further. With Rick acting up she's going to realize that she made a mistake keeping him in limbo for so long. Lanie backed her into a corner during their conversation and has forced Kate into a position where she can no longer deny how she feels. Rick's anger seems to be only superficial and all it will take for him to forgive her is for Kate to grow a pair and admit to him how she feels. With Rick supposedly going to find himself in danger during Headhunters, this could very well be the catalyst for her to reveal how she feels about him. It's going to be an intriguing episode and I can't wait to see Adam Baldwin in it! I hope he brings some elements of his character from Chuck (John Casey), as he was kinda awkwardly funny.
DeleteShe has a mental block, a wall, that's keeping her in denial.
DeleteThat's why she is subconsciously refusing to figure out what caused the change in Castle.
With any luck, Worf will use his Klingon skills to remove the block so that she can work it out for herself.
Of course what she does with that knowledge it another thing altogether. She is one mixed up cookie.

ReplyDeleteI miss Chuck so much! and i LOVED adam baldwin as Casey! him and his grunts were hilarious lol.
As long as Rick Castle drops about 15 kilograms. He needs to look dashing and fun, sharp and witty - not fat and slow and dopey.

ReplyDeleteLet's get real, if Stana or Nathan leaves the show it's over! There is a quality of writing with this show that hasn't been seen in a very long time; and even if Stana claims Canada as home - we in Chicago know that Goodman trained her, and West Aurora H.S. where all part of her beginnings. As for where these two will go... I think this is one show that could make it to a "sound 10th season," unlike some of ABC's other shows. I think Castle will ask Kate to marry him, the question is whether she's ready, and I don't think we'll have long to wait! Castle is not going to take any chances, that being said - Kate may not be all in, with a killer gunning for her, this is the perfect time for Marlowe, to put all of Kate's hidden feelings on the line, by letting something happen to Castle.
This show is a "Master Piece"... Season 5 will be just as brilliant! Please keep channeling the greats: Gable & Carol, Newman & Woodward, Bogart & Bacall, Taylor & Burton, and Spencer & Hepburn. Stana (Kate) and Nathan (Castle) have real life chemistry and that is what makes their acting superb!
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI think your assessment of Castle and the show is insightful! I don't usually commit on these sights, but I think what you have written deserves commit. Being older I grew-up watching the re-runs of Bogart/ Bacall, Tracy/ Hepburn and others on WGN with my mom, as a kid during summer break, but it is the quality of writing that carries the show, along with a gifted team of actors. And, despite Stana birth place being Canada, we claim her as part of Chicago (Goodman Theater). Nathan (Castle) and Stana (Kate) have a great raw chemistry that translates well into the complex emotions of their characters, and them in interviews. If Stana does blow it, I would be surprise if she discovers her true "Prince Charming or the Huntsman," is been in front of her along.
Great Job!!! I am a Castle fan.
Anyone know when next season it starting? I haven't even heard the commercials for it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Nathan Fillion just keeps gaining more weight. Going the way of John Travolta is a good way to put it. He looked so much better even 2 years ago.
