  1. This is my word of the day, and I had to share it with all my fellow Caskett shippers. It fits Caskett perfectly!

Mamihlapinatapai (noun): a look shared by two people each wishing the other would initiate something that they both desire but which neither wants to begin

  6. Wait a minute isnt this title referenced to Beckett too?? She was flatlined for couple of seconds/minutes(?) after her shot, she cheated the death...

  8. I've read quite a few people speculating that "Undead Again" could have a double meaning since the title was revealed. The first meaning of course referring to Zombies, but the second to do with Kate. Her heart stopped twice after she was shot, in the ambulance and in the operating theater, so she was "clinically dead". In 47 Seconds Rick tells his mother that "she might as well be dead" after discovering that she knew about his ILY all this time. So we have two situations here. The first where she was clinically dead but came back to life, the second where she was metaphorically dead (in Rick's mind) and perhaps she will say something that makes Rick slam on the brakes and forgive her, leading to a reconciliation and Kate getting through her "metaphorical death". I imagine that they will save Kate telling Rick she loves him too until after his secret is revealed and the dust has settled from it. Who knows how they're going to handle things with only two episodes left? I get the feeling that the storm clouds that have enveloped them since 47 Seconds are finally starting to dissipate and the bright sunshine is coming.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Oh! and What happened if the declaration of Kate: I can finally accept everything that happened that day is relationated with the zombies not with the ILY ????

    1. I dont think ILY will be visited before Always. This episode is setting the scrne up for a major emotional showdown.... With both teams victorious. Dont mind losing a battle or two so long as we win the war, as Always...!!

    1. Yes, you're not alone. I also want to know how they're going to prommote the final episodes without giving it all away. It must be pretty difficult.

    2. Yer I think it will be quite hard to promote but think the Canadian promo will give less away then wat the other one will. Either way can't wait to see the promos hopefully they will be good

  11. hahaha yes, i would love to see the next promo. Shall we bet that it is gonna be a promo with clips from previous season 4 episodes and a voice over that will say..."the finale you have all been waiting for..." and a knock on Castle's door (for a change) Beckett standing there with an uncertain look on her face as he opens the door in surprise " Becket?!" zoom out..hihi that would be sooo cruel (But I am optimistic! remember ALLLL the cards will be on the table, ehm 52 to be exact ;-)

    Greets from HOLLAND on Queensday!

    1. Amazing. that's exactly what I thought when I said it would be difficult to promote without giving away too much. I bet it'll be clips from previous episodes.
So it's Queen's day in Holland and then Labour day or just one of them? In spain it's just Labour day tomorrow. Well Happy Queen's day then. ;)

    3. Brittany, I feel you. I'm in college and still living at home, too. Stupid economy. :( The upside of this is that I don't have to pay for an apartment or anything, so I have some money to spend- I have bought every single episode of Castle on iTunes. (I don't have the patience to wait for the DVD!) I always DVR Castle and then I watch it at 11 PM after everyone else is in bed. They all know they will get their heads ripped off if they disturb my Monday night ritual!

    BRRRAAAAAAAIIIIIIIINNNNNSSSSSS!!!!!!!

Sooo excited about this episode! I think we're going to see some good old Caskett fun tonight, which will be fabulous!! I also agree with those thinking that the title of the episode refers not only to the zombies, but to the revival of Kate and Rick's feelings for one another. I think this episode just might bring them back to the brink of where they want to be, setting them up to take the big leap in the finale.

(Trying really hard not to watch the CTV promo before the show!)

  44. And finally, after a season of wrong turns, horrible episodes, and over-dramatic bull plop...we finally get a true episode of Castle. One that is fun, full of humor and romance and love and family. One that has original twists, great character interaction and just the right blend of suspense and camp. And it only took muddling our way through 20 some odd episodes between this and the Superhero episode to get there.

The writers and producers need to sit down and watch this episode and the Superhero episode 20 times and get it through their heads that THIS is what makes Castle so great. Not emmy-baiting episodes that deal with Ryan running around like he is on LA Law. Not Beckett being an utter bitch and treating Castle like dirt. Not Alexis acting like an ungrateful brat and Martha a horrible shrew. Not Castle behaving like a jerkass and not having a cold, annoying Captain!

Every character was in great form tonight:

Alexis: Oh, you had me hook, line and sinker. I was soooooo pissed at her being that way to her father and was dreading the rest of her scenes...and then she repels from the second floor and makes the episode wonderful! And then she actually has an adult conversation with her father without coming off like a snotty, spoiled brat. Thank God the writers got her off of the "I love Ashley" wagon and the "But I want to be at Stamford!" bus and brought back the funny, smart Alexis...the Alexis that truly is the daughter of Rick Castle.

Martha: Busts Castle's balls but it comes from love. Watch her here then go back to when she told her son, in front of an entire audience, that he didn't love her like he should...yeah, two totally separate characters in my book.

Esposito: Tough, bickering with Castle and Ryan, but without coming off as a bully.

Ryan: ...ok, Ryan is good in every episode except that stupid chinese mobster one.

Beckett: Gets knocked down a few pegs and knocks people down a few as well. Wish there had been a bit more of it FINALLY dawning on her that 'hey, maybe what I did was wrong!'...we couldn't have gotten one scene with her and Lanie talking and Lanie commenting that, hey, Castle might know and maybe you should throw the dog a bone before he wanders off...oh well, Beckett managed to be a bit redeemed in my eyes...still has a LONG way to go, but still...

Castle: Actually having fun. Welcome Back Richard Castle, where have you been?

    The Captain: Gone...who needs her?

    1. Now then, my bold prediction for the season finale:

Beckett is going to ignore Castle and his warning to drop the case and resign from the force. She is also going to become enraged he was keeping secrets from her and she will refuse to acknowledge her own secrets. She will leave in a rage and tell him she never wants to see him again.

She will attempt to capture the men on her own, hence the roof scene from the preview. Now, I have a feeling that castle will arrive at last minute to save her, but I would actually love to see him NOT there, and have Beckett go it alone...and realize that this case is costing her everything. She will get the man...only to find the victory hollow. In the end Beckett will not be a cop (most likely they will say they need to put her on leave again...but I would love to see her actually fired for her actions or have her tell Gates to shove it and remain off the force) and the final scene will have her arrive at Castle's apartment wet and tell him that the only thing that matters is him.

Season 4 will find them living together, Beckett unemployed and going a bit stircrazy, while Castle too longs for the fun of cases. A VERY strange murder will force the NYPD to finally come knocking at their door, begging them to come back (Maybe get rid of Gates and promote Esposito or Ryan to Chief...that would change things up! Doubt it will happen, though) and finally they will decide to return to the force (Personally, would love to see the first few episodes have Kate not being a detective and working as a consultant along with Castle, helping Ryan and Esposito...but again, that is the writer in me plotting out this show when i should be working on my own novels)>

    2. Hmmm...

Outside of the fact that it will be Season 5, not 4, if it is renewed, not a bad storytelling thread to play with there... I'd watch it.

    3. Kevin, I don't agree with you that this has been a horrible season, however, I agree 100% about Alexis. She has been a thorn in my side since midway through season 3 when she began dating Ashley. She went from a refreshing, responsible teenager in seasons 1 and 2 to a whiney know- it- all/ goody- two- shoes. However, she completely redeemed herself for me in this episode. I was one of those hating on her from what we saw in the sneak peeks, but it was such a nice surprise to see that she hasn't lost touch of who she is and what's important in life. The laser tag games were adorable, and a great throwback to season 1. We got the old Alexis back, and I hope she's here to stay, or rather, go to Columbia. At this point, though, they shouldn't write her out of the show. As long as Alexis is far, far away from the morgue, I'm good.

    4. This was a great episode. I'm anxious to get to the finale like many other viewers, but when this season is over, Undead Again will be one of those episodes that I can go back and enjoy for fun, just like Once Upon a Crime, Dance With Death, etc. Those are the "filler" episodes that are just pure fun, which is what Castle is at heart.

  48. Any1 remember last year's finale? Remember how before he died Montgomery said "We gave him the ransom money, and that made him the powerful man he is today, and dear god that may be my greatest sin?" Here's my therory. The man behind ALL of this will be castle's unknown father. They said he has ties to FBI, so he will have all the hit mans he could ever ned at the snap of a finger, and he has money and plenty of power. And I could totally see castle writers pulling something like this. it would have castl ebetray beckett in the worst way possible. Who's with me?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree Fan Seriados. The caskett part is so lame. They couldn't talk till now and all of a sudden she tells him that she is ready to bring the wall down. The writers could have done a better job.

I think they wanted to make the Rick and Kate's confession part big, but didn't get any ideas so they created a rift and dragged it for 3 episodes and thought a simple dialoge will do the trick. But it is insulting the emotions and wit of the viewers.

If nothing else, they could have gone the big argument...then makeup kind of way... like they did in 'The Guardian'(the old Simon Baker's show)

If it was going to be this lame, they should have maintained the status quo and left out episodes 47 seconds, limey and head hunters. Even if you remove those episodes, it wouldn't have made any difference.

  51. Ok, now that I can breath again after that promo, I can give my thoughts on Undead Again. I loved it, especially after the past few episodes. It set the scene for the finale with Kate revealing to Castle that she's been going to a therapist, and Castle ultimately deciding to forgive her. For me the tone of the episode completely changed after Ryan mentioned to Castle that it was nice to see him and Kate getting along again. It was like a little slap to the face for Castle. He realized that the others could see that he had been punishing Beckett too, and I'm glad he talked to Kate before deciding to leave. Granted, it was through subtext, but it was very poorly disguised (Castle and Beckett aren't even trying to pretend that they're talking about someone else anymore!) and I can forgive this because we'll be getting a much more open conversation next week by the looks of the promo.

I also thought that Alexis redeemed herself in this episode. I'll admit that I was one of those hating her for most of this season, but this is the Alexis I grew to love in the first place. She wasn't in the morgue and she wasn't whiney and annoying. She made a responsible decision and then she played with her daddy. What's not to love?

BTW, the Castle loft has drop down wire thingys hanging from the ceiling!?! I wish I lived there ;)

  52. Anyone else notice how Beckett complained to Esposito about the coffee he brought her? It was when they were approaching the crime scene and Castle was just joining them...you don't really see it, but you can hear her tossing it out!! She refused to finish it!!

  60. I like they've finally had a talk although it's still loaded in subtext rather than actual direct conversation which is starting to really get on my nerves. I wish Marlowe would stop using this as a writing tool, when badly done or over used it is not enjoyable to watch for me.

I enjoyed their moment at the end and Castle having fun and Kate watching him have fun - sort of how I imagine she would do as his wife sort of rolls eyes but that's my baby...ha!

That said I have to be blunt and sorry to upset anyone but this story arc since Kate's secret has been revealed has been a total waste of time for me and actually damaged the characters a little in the way they were made to behave. It's like Marlowe had the idea of the reveal in 47 seconds and then had no idea what to do with the story line because he always new he was saving everything up in the finale.

So the characters started behaving stupidly, not asking each other questions, being mean, clueless, bitchy, rude and cold - a simple discussion could have resolved the issue that much was obvious - that's not good story telling in my view.

They could have ditched the last two episodes really for all the good it did them and had this one with them coming to an understanding but I would have preferred them to seriously discuss things like grown ups rather than we get to the finale and they still haven't really TALKED about where they're at or what they want.

The promo looked wonderful though and I'd forgotten how HOT Nathan and Stana's chemistry can be - they've really had to tone that down this season, it's glaring when you watch that promo and see her looking at him. Wow! I missed that!

Lets hope Marlowe quits the overwraught angst in season 5 because this season has been disappointing for me generally because of it, get rid of the subtext and can we please get back to the fun with some loving and drama sprinkled in here and there.

Castle (about the new zombie crowd thingy): 'How did I not know this?'
Castle (when told to call for backup): 'Is there a police code for a zombie on the loose?'
    Hilarious!

  64. Wow, first off, while I obviously understand the excitement, seems a lot of folks are almost skipping over every ep to talk about the finale, because caskett will inevitably be dealt with. Especially the negative comments.

    Anyways.

Loved this ep. This one and Headhunters really felt like the archetypal spirit of Castle was on display again.

Case was reasonably twisty-turny even if not overly complicated, lots of fun team dynamics and interaction, meta pop culture content, a bit more subtext romance, a bit of action. A hint of progress between Castle and Beckett. Was all hugely entertaining. I ask for nothing more than that.

I liked that Castle was not overly angsty over Alexis' college quandry, letting her figure it out. Enjoyed the cat & mouse laser tag game too. Was also a nice way to involve Martha, along with her offering her usual reflective commentary on the as yet non-relationship.

I loved Castle having fun again. I loved his little aside with Ryan that he does not in fact believe in the undead but he does believe in driving Beckett nuts, lol. And a nice comment back from Ryan about it being nice to see them hitting it off again.

Perlmutter was great. I do wonder how much his presence over Lanie in this ep is a precursor to revisiting the Joanna Beckett murder in Always, given he figured prominently in the original introduction of it back when.

I loved Castle as a Zombie. He was fantastic. I thought the whole cast knocked it out of the park, given the whole premise could have been insufferably cheezy, but this was just a great, fun, entertaining ride.

It also looked fabulous, cinematography, make-up & wardrobe, fx, sound, everything.

As for Nathan Elvis vs. Zombie, I do hafta say I liked the zombie more, lol. Apparently Beckett seems to enjoy the look too.

(And I also recommend checking out the twitter feed of @venice4change for the pacific time slot airing of the ep, as there are some fun BTS photos, including a really lovely one of Nathan and a zombie looking at his phone or something. Lol, basically I just recall Nathan looking really, really (really) good.)

I liked that Beckett was finally (FINALLY) actually kinda sorta trying to communicate with Castle about where she's at. It's all been passive aggressive mutually one-way traffic and ships passing in the night. Nice to see them finally approaching the same place.

I haven't loved everything about the season, but the last few eps have at least re-imbued a sense of FUN into Castle again. I've missed that. It's like wearing a jacket that's too tight and taking it off and realizing how much better you feel without having previously realizing you were ever constricted.

I'll discuss the Always promos in the promos post. I just wanted to say I thought this was a fantastic ep, and makes my revised short list of faves for the season (which now includes Cops & Robbers, Head Case, Cuffed, Blue Butterfly, Headhunters).

  65. Anon 1:07 - I agree with you about the subtext. I loved this episode and am really excited about the forward movement in their relationship. However, would it really have been so bad for Kate to just say, "Rick, I get it - you know I remember - and I really care about you, too. I'm seeing a therapist and I'm almost to the point where that wall is down. Hang in there a little longer." Why the riddles - and the Perlmutter interruption to boot. I'm glad Castle said he thinks he understands - because "We all sure do!!" Still - Loving every minute! LOL!

  66. I flove how they were finishing each other's sentences. I flove that Rick was protective of Kate during that zombie walk, as he told her to get behind him and they would break out from the mass. I flove that they actually talks, and Rick "understands." I flove their tomorrows.

  67. Really fun episode, though I was a little dissappointed that Castle's decision to leave was not more of a driving force to get Beckett to "confess."

I was also a little underwhelmed at Beckett's reaction to Castle basically saying "I know you lied about remembering" in the hospital. It would have been nice for her to verbally put two and two together about her secret and his behavior.

I thought the end conversation was great. Even though there was still a lot of subtext, it was more direct than we have seen with them for a while, and if the promo's are accurate, then they move forward in their directness during their conversations. Overalll maybe the theme to take away from their relationship is that the subtext is a symbol of their relationship, and the closer they get to speaking to each other directly, the more intimate and personal their relationship becomes

    1. I think Beckett's secret will be admitted overtly in the finale, probably in context with Castle's secret.

      'Always' is gonna be great.

  68. Thought the episode was awsome it was just like what it use to be with some good laughs and banter between them. Now bring on the final

  69. The amount of subtext in this show is ridiculous. I love it. I loved this episode, trying to suppress my fangirl side at the moment. Castle looked so adorable throughout and I'm so glad Kate finally told him she was working on their relationship, that she wants to be with him (in subtext of course). The only the thing that annoyed me is the flow of these past episodes. Castle brought her coffee last episode but not in this episode? Castle said in 4x19 that he doesn't want to quit because he's doing it for the victims and this episode he decides he wants to quit. The flow is off, but whatever. I almost dropped dead at the promo. Caskett IS happening. SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!

  71. This was reminiscent of the older episodes that I loved. If next season has more cases (and character interactions) like this, I'll be happy.
