  2. My theory for this episode and the next as to why they will spend time apart is as follows - Kate realizes she really need to come forward with her feelings when confronted and convinced by lanie . she feels that castle is pulling away , because she will definitely note about castle's behavior towards the end of 47 seconds . then in need of someone to help her overcome the tension of the fact that castle did acted differently around her, she calls lanie , thus, then lanie convinces her to talk to Rick and come clean . then they go to the crime scene , where Beckett thinks castle is keeping him distant from her and she couldn't confront him as she gets involved with the case . they follow a suspect who turns out to be the Scotland yard guy . Kate is smitten by him , but very well knows where her heart lies . till the half castle keeps making Kate jealous . around this time when he notices Kate put on a fake smile he talks to his mother and doesn't follow the case anymore . Martha consoles him and convinces him to confront beckett and tell his secret and try to move on by leaving the precinct . Kate notices something weird about his behaviour and despite all the odds meets Rick to identify him with her feelings . before she yells her secret out , Rick tells her his secret, which prevents Kate to talk to him anymore and blasts at him and asks to leave . Rick does that and tells her that he won't be shadowing her anymore but before leaving he tells Kate that he knew she lied to him and storms out leaving Kate without letting her explain why she lied . Kate, too , was angry at him and was not in a mood to take care of him and tell him why she lied . This fight ends with both the secrets out on the table and both feeling devastated . 1. Kate knowing about castle's involvement in her mother's case . 2. Rick considering that Kate lied to him and is very much angry at him ................ The next episode continues with both of them being hurt and alone .... Only in the end when Kate rescues Rick tells him about her love for him , with castle lying on the bed of a hospital .... Both have a serious heart to heart and ends up understanding other's reasons and in each other's arms .... Kissing by the end of head hunters ... Making them exclusive and officially a couple ... Lots of hugs and kisses then

    3. buena teoría, yo cambiaría la cama del hospital por la de Kate, digamos que no esta tan mal herido y Rick no quiere que su madre y su hija lo vean así entonces Kate lo lleva a su casa...

    4. what secret of ricks are you talking about? The fallout from rick going behind beckets back in her mom's murder case is in a different episode.

  3. I hope Beckett is moving.... oh rick why are you so stupid???

Well, many people thought they were going to have a serious conversation where secrets would come out. Many thought also that when this happened he would say he already knew. Lots of people said she wouldn't wear a dress like this (see photo above) again due to the scar. And yet the writers made the secrets come out accidentally reaching Castle through a glass/mirror, he told us he didn't know about it, and here she is with a gorgeous dress.
Seriously, these writers are amazing. We never know were they are going. Their only concession was naming the 4x23 'Always', just as we wanted and predicted. Perfect, just perfect.

    1. It's also just the working title. Watch them change it. Even if they do, though, it was a huge spoiler :D

      Delete
    2. There is also the possibility, however remote, that the writers intend something different by "Always" than we that which we diehard fans ascribe to it. It could be a red herring, the writers' version of Inigo Montoya's "I do not think it means what you think it means."

      I hope not, though.

      Delete
    3. Anon 8:14, that is inconceivable!

      Delete
    4. Indeed it is. There is no other possible meaning or connotation for always. Everybody knows what it means. Always is ALWAYS. End of the story.

      Delete
    5. While the definition of "always" may be set in stone, the implications drawn from it are not. It is assumed by many on this thread that the title "Always" IMPLIES that Castle and Beckett will be in a relationship by episode's end (a safe assumption, to be sure). However, that implication is not built right into the definition of "always;" rather, it is ascribed to the word by the fans of the show. Castle and Beckett could (theoretically) decide that a relationship would never work between them, but they will "always" be friends and/or partners. Or that Castle vows "always" to protect Beckett, to have her back--even if it means he can never have a relationship with her.

Same definition, different applications, and much different reactions among the fan base.

It all comes down to how the writers INTEND "always" to be understood, not just in the context of the show as a whole, but in the context of this episode-- whether as a permanent commitment to a romantic relationship, a permanent commitment to a different sort of arrangement, a renewed zeal from Beckett never to give up the hunt for her mother's killer, etc.

The Inigo Montoya reference, while not precisely applicable here, is present simply because I love The Princess Bride and quote it as often as possible. :)

  5. This is gonna be a rough episode.
Personnally, I think everything is going to be out on the table by the end of it tonight, and that's what leads to them being "apart" in the next episode.

    2. ^^ That was my 1st thought too...though what I am not sure about is if Castle's secret comes out in this episode or the next one.

      Scenario #1:
If Castle's secret comes out tonight, then I am pretty confident that's what keeps them apart next episode since Beckett will likely push Castle away. (This seems to be the most likely outcome in my mind.)

      Scenario #2:
If Castle's secret doesn't come out tonight, then I think Beckett probably has an exchange with Castle but doesn't gather the courage to tell him how she really feels. Since she won't explain herself, that causes Castle to get fed up and work with a different detective.
(I think it's possible that this might happen, since Beckett is irrationally fearful of admitting how she feels, and it may take Castle getting injured before she finally gives in.)

      Scenario #3:
What I think is less likely is this case: Beckett tells Castle how she feels, but Castle doesn't entirely believe her or he isn't willing to forgive her so soon because she lied to him for so long, so he decides its best to work with another detective for a while. (This scenario seems unlikely to me, since I think that Castle is a big softie at heart, so he will forgive Beckett if she tells him how she feels).

Overall, I predict that a negative reaction of some kind from Beckett will cause Castle to work with another detective next episode. If Castle hypothetically were to get fed up, I think that at this point he would leave the precinct since honestly the only thing keeping him there is Beckett.

  8. I am expecting a whole lot of hurt in this ep.She may not want to put herself out there after seeing Rick galavanting around with the blonde in his Ferrari...ouch! That was not nice. She's already so indecisive and he is being such an infant and so unreachable right now. When they do get together at the end of season.4,they better not skip all the good first moments when they start season 5..I want to be in on EVERYTHING!

  9. Beckett's not the only one with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, it would seem. The writers are crafty - such that anyone not looking for it would not suspect Castle of having it.

    Very clever.

    2. Yes, what was that? Do you mean Castle's PTSD is showing in his going with that flight attendant or something like that?

      Delete
    3. I think Anon8:52 was just making a wry remark about Castle having PTSD since he is acting strangely after hearing Beckett's secret.

What Castle has doesn't qualify as PTSD though..lol. Usually people get it from experiencing violent trauma that makes them feel helpless.
Castle is mostly suffering from a case of hurt pride & depression due to feeling rejected by Beckett.

      Delete
    4. That would be a really superb twist Anon 8:52. But I don't see how it would work with what we've read about the upcoming episodes. No indication that Castle has PTSD and no real symptoms so far..

      Delete
    5. @Anon10:127am, please reread the definition of what you said PTSD was (Usually people get it from experiencing violent trauma that makes them feel helpless).....How is that not what Castle went through?

      Delete
    6. Seriously Anon 10:27? You don't think Castle holding a bleeding, dying Kate in his arms was traumatic? Knowing if he'd only been a second sooner...? I'd say that was traumatic.

      Delete
  10. Haha, I like your thinking Anon8:52 -- it would definitely explain Castle's irritability. But I feel the true test would be if Castle ducks under the table the next time Beckett yells at a suspect in the interrogation room.

  11. I don't think Castle is going to bring his secret up in a heart to heart. My prediction is that the secret will bring them back together after working apart. I anticipate that while they are apart, Beckett will get involved in something connected to her mother's case, and Castle will get a call. He will learn she will be in danger if she pursues the case she is on, and he will go back to her to try to protect her. Then somehow the secret will come out as Beckett tries to understand why he is trying to stop her, bringing more friction.

    1. Yeah, I don't think Castle would ever reveal his secret unless it was by accident or he is forced to i.e. Beckett would be in danger if he kept quiet.

    2. Interesting... The thing is, didn't Marlowe say they wouldn't get into a relationship with each other while keeping secrets? So, if Castle really wasn't planning to divulge his, he'd have to solve the JB case first. He's going to be very interested in the case Slaughter catches in Headhunters, so maybe that's related to the mom's case, which could get dangerous for either of them. Somewhere along the lines, they've both got to realize it's going to be better/safter/smarter working the whole JB murder case together...

  12. I don't think there is going to be much forward progress this particular episode, based on the sneak peeks I have a feeling that they still won't be talking about what the problems are between them. Castle will still be hurt and angry but putting on a brave face, Kate is confused by why he's acting up with the blonde and the trip to Vegas but Kate being Kate she refuses to do anything about it.

The Brit detective doesn't help matters because Castle gets jealous of him even though Kate is not really interested (fingers crossed she isn't) and so he either decides to work with another detective this week or they leave it until the next episode. I have a feeling the closing scene was already in that promo of Rick in a red shirt smiling at Kate and walking off. He heads off after the case just as she's about to try to speak to him again and he's all dressed up ready to go out on the town and this time instead of Rick's sad face in the elevator you get Kate looking devastated as he walks off.

How's that for angst? Just an idea because Stana did say things would be bad for a while but then get really good. So this is the bad part!

I just wonder where that picture of him with the red shirt fits in, unless he gatecrashes the ball of course.

I hope they get these two talking sooner rather than later because I can't stand another episode of them acting like teenagers who are too scared of love to talk. I don't like to see that, this is not the Kate and Rick I fell in love with. Lets hope that either I'm wrong and this is the last episode of watching these two suffer in silence.

    1. ^^^ Yes my worst fear is that something like this will happen. It would be very disappointing if neither Beckett nor Castle says anything about how they feel. I don't need them to solve everything..but to see no progression at all is really frustrating.
I would rather see them fight it out (and maybe compete with each other to see who can solve the case the fastest next week) rather than to avoid the issue at all.

  14. I don't think Kate will tell Castle how she feels in this episode, I think she's going to chicken out and get discouraged by the way castle is behaving. I think it's going to be a heartbreaking episode. I think Castle might decide to act out after seeing Kate in that dress with another man, probably crash the party they're going to and cause some trouble in the investigation. Castle will then realize that he can't switch his love for Kate off and instead tells her at the end of the episode that he'll be partnering with a different detective from now on, explaining why they'll be working separately next episode. I don't know when Kate will tell him how she feels, maybe in the next two episodes or in the finale, and maybe she won't say it but rather have Lanie tell him or Alexis tells him after overhearing Kate say it, but Castle won't act upon this knowledge because he'd want to give her the space and the time she needs until she's ready to say it to him. I can't guess what will happen in the next two episodes, but my guess is that they'll get together momentarily for at least one episode and then everything will explode in the finale.

  15. Ok, this is my first time posting here... Let me just say I love this show. I am however on the other end of the scale when it comes to Castle and Kate.

I know he feels that he needs to be there for her, not just as a good friend but also to protect here from herself... regarding her mother's case etc.
Also, although Kate may not be ready for anything yet, I think she wants Castle to tell her how he feels without the impending "last chance" scenario. As in... "Kate, I've been thinking..." You know that way Castle starts off?

I always felt though that the situation has changed Castle... I feel he should move on for a while, and that Kate should be the jealous one. I mean the guy sat by for about three years without anyone in his life... waiting. And yes the circumstances never gave him the chance... but think about it? Millionaire bachelor, successful writer, and yet we never see him with anyone. I am happy with him trying to get over Kate, and her being jealous... regardless of it being a fling...

I would like them to wrap up her mother murder this season. I actually wanted the season to wrap up with Kate showing up at Castle's apartment to tell him how she feels... only to find the place wrecked, and Castle gone... only to find information on her mother's case... Castle found something, and now he is in danger... Nail biting!

Anyways that's jut me. Did anyone notice that in Rise the guy on the other end of phone, advising Castle to keep Kate away, was in the hospital dressed as a doctor? He walked passed them... could that be Castle's dad? Could he be protecting him/them? Wild theory... but he is definitely at the hospital when Kate is shot.

    1. I've always felt that this season finale was going to be about Kate making a choice. In one of the episodes prior I am thinking that Rick is going to ask her to make a choice between the chance for them to be together or solving her mother's case. She can't have both. I think she will come to a point that she does choose "them" and rushes to the loft to tell Castle, but she finds Castle gone. Now in my scenario, he isn't there but when she goes back to her appartment sad and feeling like she has lost him, she is surprised to find him there at her rooftop garden waiting for her because he knew what her answer was going to be. We all get a happy ending to tie up over for the summer anxious to see where the love story goes from here.

Now your scenario would make it a true cliff hanger. I like it for the drama. We still see her choose Castle but he isn't there for the answer.

As far as Rick being alone for a a season and a half(he was with Gia for part of season 3), that was his choice. He could have dated but chose not to because he was waiting for Kate. Although after Killshot, I wanted to see Beckett bring him coffee once in awhile though.

      Delete
    2. I'm totally with you on the wild theory that the mystery protector is Castle's dad. Was he really a doctor in Rise? I believe you, but I'm gonna go look 'cause that would be awesome.

      Delete
    3. Yes, Mr. Smith(the protector) was in the hospital and walked by Castle as he checked himself in the mirror before going in to see Beckett in Rise. I think that has been established on several boards. I think he was there to check on Kate. As far as being Castle's dad, that would be too much of a coincidence. I think KB's mom and Castle's dad are 2 different stories, although it can happen I guess, but I hope those 2 stories do not intersect.

      Delete
  16. i think that Beckett will learn about Castle's secret tonight, leading to their separation during Headhunters. I also think that Mr. Smith will be making a reappearance during Headhunters, because Castle won't be at the precinct, where Mr. Smith needs him to be.

    1. Apparently in the Headhunters episode Rick and Ethan Slaughter's investigation will involve a Latin Street Gang (who are also supposedly showing up in the finale). The Latin Kings used to run Heroin for Dick Coonan, a corrupt politician who was also a highly trained killer and the man ordered by this mysterious "Dragon" to kill Johanna Beckett and four others. This Dragon figure must have a link to politics, since Mr Smith rang him up from a burner cell back in Rise at the Congressional Offices.

One of the two scenarios leading to Rick working with Ethan Slaughter is Rick reveals to Kate what he's been doing all this time, she gets angry with him and they both get pulled apart. Rick goes to work with Ethan Slaughter, while Kate continues to work with Colin Hunt. They both do a little soul searching (Kate goes to see her psychiatrist, Rick has another talk with Martha) and then realize that they both can't handle not being around each other, leading to a reconciliation, especially if Kate has to come to Rick's rescue when he finds himself in danger.

The second scenario is that Rick realizes he can't just turn off the love switch and pulls away from Kate leaving her even more confused. He tells her he's going to work with Ethan Slaughter for a while but doesn't reveal his secret to her. She feels confused as hell and ends up going to her psychiatrist in a right state. Rick finds himself in danger and also finds himself in a position where he has no choice but to reveal to Kate that he has been digging around in her mother's murder case behind her back again. This will happen when she is on the verge of telling him how she feels after her talk with her psychiatrist (ie, the worst possible moment). She gets angry with him and they end the Headhunters episode with things still unresolved. I'm picking in probably Undead Again Kate meets up with her father who tells her that he asked Rick to make sure Kate doesn't throw her life away (back in Knockout before she was shot). She will take these words to heart and it will dawn on her that he really did keep her away from her mother's case because he was fearful of her safety. She goes to Rick's apartment afterwards and forgives him for what he did and also tells him that she loves him too. Right after this Mr Smith calls to tell them the chess pieces are in place and it's time to strike against the Dragon.

That's my theory on how the rest of the season is going to play out. I hope you all like it!

    2. It seems most likely that Castle's secret will come out in Headhunters, yet I still feel that there is a chance it might come out at the END of the Limey ( just as kate is about to tell Rick, the secret comes out by accident....Marlowe said that it couldnt come out at the worst possible time!!)reason being, I can't see OUR Kate being able to stand Castle being around after that miniature blowup! I dont think that they are apart after headhunetrs, so it seems less likely that Castle would opt to stay away after learning her secret and not miss Beckett!!!

      thoughts??

      Delete
    3. I've been thinking about when Rick's secret will come out, and it's very likely it will come out during the Limey. I can't think of a "worst possible time" other than when Kate is about to tell Castle how she feels about him. He interrupts her, and tells her and she gets angry, leading to their separation during Headhunters. I think we're in for a bumpy ride tonight, folks!

  17. I love the Caskett relationship!
I hope that Castle's secret is coming out tonight, because then they have 3 more eps to deal with their relationship. If the secret comes out later maybe they don't have time to deal with their feelings. We all know that they're not very fast.
I think that the cliff hanger will be something related with the JB's case. Castle and Beckett will be finally together, but they go into something dangerous, that put their lives at risk.

    ReplyDelete
  18. When do you think Rick's secret is coming out?

    End of The Limey?

    End of Headhunters?

Midst of Undead Again? (personally I don't think it would be in this episode, JB's Murder will be revisited here- Undead Again!!

Always- might end with a kiss and a cliffhanger!!

  19. I get a bad feeling when they go and name the finale episode "Always."
The show's writers are always setting us up and then things don't turn out the way we want them to- could this be the case here? Everyone's getting excited because we THINK we know what always means, but what if the Castle writers are setting us up for a fall?
What if Castle and Beckett DON'T get together by season's end? They just become partners again after their time spent apart pissed at each other.
God i seriously hope i'm being an ass and we get our happy ending but i'm very fearful of the fact someone we haven't seen all season is coming back.
Idea 1 - Josh. The less said about that the better.
    Idea 2 - Beckett's mom - ditto.
Idea 3 - Montgomery - hmmm could our dear captain be hiding all this time? Unlikely.
Idea 4 - Mr Smith - Maybe but considering we dont know the guy that well it wouldn't be 'crazy' for him to return. [Personally i think he's Castle's Dad but that's another story...]
    Moving on -
Idea 5 - Coonan. Hope not.
Idea 6 - the one i personally like best - the black gangster who Kate smashed against the interview room wall not so long ago.
She said "Your empire - saviour it, because i'm going to take it all away." It was a very good, passionate scene and i like the idea.
Still - here's my theory. If we all try our hardest not to get too excited and expect nothing from the finale, then maybe, just maybe, we will get our happy ever after.
From now on i hereby swear that my hopes are at their lowest... amen. :)

    1. I really don't think the writers are purposely setting the audience up for disappointment. Andrew and Terri wrote the finale. They, of all people, know how much the fans adore this show and Caskett. They wouldn't play with us like that. If anything, I think they allowed the "working title" to be leaked as a way to comfort us and tell us everything's gonna be fine...better than fine, actually.

  20. I think what's going to happen in those last episodes is beyond our imagination, fanfictions and theories. Every single person of the cast said that we will be so surprised we'll have to hang on to our chairs while watching this season unfold. So I guess even our best theories will not match what will actually happen, other wise we won't be surprised now would we ? I personally can't wait ! and I'm just enjoying the ride ! I feel the writers and producers of this show did learn from the mistakes of other hit shows and they won't do the same mistakes again so
    In AM we trust !

    1. I don't really think it's possible that the writers will come up with something no one else has ever thought of. Of course they want us to think we'll be really surprised; the ratings are their bread and butter.

      Delete
    2. I really don't think they'll risk so much at the end of this season. Beside the whole cast, while very interested by the ratings as well, are mostly honest. I mean when they say something its most of the times true, other wise they just don't answer or answer very vaguely.
Even thought Castle got picked up for a fifth season that doesn't mean the viewers will be interested to watch a whole new season of old games. SO I really think this season is going to end on such a huge note that we will be begging for season 5 to begin on the same day.. and that it will open a whole new horizon of story telling.

    3. I know the season 5 thing isn't official yet ( although I do think it's true), and this proves even further that they will seek the happiness of the shippers by the end of the season so that they "ask for more " .

  22. i'm sick and tired of AM beating about the bushes. and do not expect much of the last episode even though it's called ALWAYS. It won't be what everybody's expecting to happen and is longing to see. No matter what the cast said and hinted. One thing is sure - it will be surprise but an unpleasant surprise (for the fans) aiming to keep them waiting for next season. I suggest everybody read the last interview with AM published at castle-fans.org.

    1. I suggest that you read the numerous spoilers from both Nathan and Stana telling everyone exactly how happy shippers are going to be by the finale. Andrew and Terri know exactly what "Always" means to Castle and Beckett, as well as to the fans, and they're not going to waste that title on an episode where nothing happens.

I'm not sure if this was already thrown out there as a possible scenario (apologies if it was) but I think by the end of the epidsode Castle will realise he can't turn off his feelings while working so close to Beckett. Rick will tell her that he's thinking about writing a novel based on a new character and he's taking a break from Nikki Heat (i.e. Beckett) and this is the segue for him to take on a new muse, so to speak, in the form of Ethan Slaughter. This will probably happen just as Beckett's about to reveal her feelings for him but pulls back after hearing this.
I was hoping for kiss and make up than ride off into the sunset but, alas, I don't think it's going to be...at least not until "Always". ;)

  28. okay so i just read a spoiler from another site. A lot of it said what we already know: castle will be with the blonde chick , kate an lanie will talk and lanie will tell kate that she needs to tell castle about her feelings for him. It also said that kate will be weirded out by castles behavior but will not (unfoutunatly) put together the clues for castles behavior. It also said that castle will NOT act all protected or jealous over the scottland yard guy which is one of the big things that weirds her out. Marlowe was the one saying this in this spoiler. He did say that this episode will be a stepping stone to the finale.
So i guess i have mixed feelings on this spoiler... A lot of it we already knew from the sneak peeks and im glad tha kate senses there is something wrong with castle yet im dissapointed that it dosent sound like she willfigure out why he is mad. I mean i guess castle could still finally say why hes been acting wierd in the end or maybe she figures it out...it just doesnt seem like it from the spoiler but i hope im proved wrong!

Anon 1:56...i read your theory and definelty think a scenario like that could be very likely :( your theory even made me tear up! I think this will be another painful episode like 47 seconds for castle fans.
The only thing that comfrots me right now is the finale called always and all the spoilers hinting that there will be a lot of progression for caskett in the end...thats the only thing keeping my hopes up! I want the finale to come sooo badly yet when i think of everything i have to do between now and the end of the semester for college it freaks me out! I have so many papers, teste, and projects to do between noe and may 7th..thankfully by then i will be done with the semester! Sorry for rambling but i just had to type this all out ...

  33. so i just read a spoiler from castlefans.org...and no its not the one talked about above its a new one from like an hour ago. To be honest it took most of the anticipation out of tonights episode because marlowe straight up said that castle is still gonna have hard emotions towards kate for the next couple episodes and it really sounded doubtful that castles secret will come out or that kate will find out that castle knows hers.... So mehh im kinda sad . And it dosent seem like kate will end up telling castle how she feels this episode either :( oh and another thing there was also a spoiler saying that the peulitamte episode will be called always..so im sooo confused lol..
I will still watch tonight and i know ther will still be good moments but the spioler made it less intersting

    1. In my opinion, that spoiler didn't change anything. We already knew Castle was going to have hard feelings for the next two episodes, otherwise he wouldn't go work with Slaughter. What we don't know is what is going to happen in each episode or after all this mess, so I'm as excited as I was before. I didn't think Kate was going to tell him anything. She might try, but something will prevent her from doing it. After all, it is Castle we're talking about..

  34. You guys, I just realized something. I think the blonde in the ferrari and the blonde that shows up for Castle's lunch date are two different women. I just saw the US promo again, and the blonde there has longer hair than the flight attendant. And I think they're on different days, too, because Beckett's hair is down when Castle goes to lunch, and it's up when he pulls up in the ferrari. Oh, Castle, what are we going to do with you?

  35. i regards to brittanys comment on the always spoiler...im confused as heck now too! It said that the peultimate episode will be called always where we meet a character that will be in the finale.. I dont get it ! There are supposed to be 23 episodes..obviously tonight is episode 20 the limey, then episode 21 headhunters, episode 22 undead again and episode 23(the finale) was supposed to be always....if we are missing something will someone please explain??!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. ALWAYS is the penultimate episode, so its not Undead Again! That could be the finale!
Castle's secret isnt coming out in Limey! Beckett is going to really feel nervous, because according to AM, the brit wont ensure jealousy for Castle and Beckett WILL notice.....
Its storytelling.... Let them.... It will all come out no worries, fans are going nuts, they need the ratings so trust me ....... Caskett will come to some decision together!!!!

  39. My heart ache!!! This episode was awesome and fun. Lanie was the voice of reason. Le sigh. If only Castle gave Beckett the chance. Actually, for most of the episode, Rick was being a dick. Le sigh. Did Ryan just did another cockblock tonight? Beckett's turned down Hunt's invitation. YAY! Castle turned down Kate's invitation to talk. BOO! Kate calling Colin again. BOOO. Ah, the d-rama.

  40. Appears there are conflicting reports. First, ALWAYS was the episode for season finale, but now it seems to be episode 4x22. Which means, Undead Again will be repositioned or title change for Finale.

  44. OUCH! , Kate still hasn't managed to speak to Rick and he sure isn't interested in what she has to say anymore. And I called it earlier in a previous post when I said the closing scene was Rick heading off on a date with his red party shirt on and Kate all sad watching him go - still clueless!

The only thing I missed was the call to the Brit detective to take him up on the offer of a drink. Thank the lord he flies out that evening for the UK!

As for Kate, really can she get anymore short sighted emotionally? She wants to keep what she has now with Rick and as Lanie rightly said what do you have exactly? She has nothing and if she continues doing nothing she will lose him in any case, can't she see that?

    It's not a friendship it's a holding pattern ! Love Lanie.

You can't make him wait forever she tells Kate - no truer words have been spoken.

And then just because he's now going out with a woman you can see Kate lining up her excuses about why she should perhaps not take any steps to do anything (as usual), he goes out with bimbos still she tells Lanie - when did he last date anyone exactly? A year ago? He's been married before? So what she didn't seem to care enough before to ask him any searching questions so why bring it up now?

I know I should feel sorry for Kate but I just can't - this is what happens when you lie to a guy and keep him hanging on forever and think at any time you can just beckon him over and start a relationship. It just doesn't work that way and Lanie gave it to her good.

Stana acted hurt and confused really well but I don't see how this brings Kate and Rick closer together, it just seems to be driving them further apart.

Marlowe has very few episodes left to rectify this now and I really don't like what he's doing to these characters.

This used to be a fun show but watching these two not communicate every week is just painful.

And Kate cannot act upset with Rick going out on lunch dates in my view - if she can't be brave enough to stake her claim to him then how can she try to keep him by her side as her lap dog? She won't sleep with him or tell him she even likes him let alone loves him.

What guy would put up with that?

Sorry Kate but I can't deal with you right now, I will just have to hope for better things in a few weeks. I can't root for either of them much at the moment, that's sad.

  45. Hey Castle, good job being an asshole.

    1. Well I'm sorry it's Kate that's being silly here. She waited too long and what's more it apppeared to me that she was quite happy to wait and wait for some moment in the future which was never going to come. Meanwhile she thought that Castle would just sit by twiddling his thumbs whilst she waited.

For how long exactly? With no signal from her aside from a few smiles that she even liked him?

I doubt many of us would be happy with their current so called arrangement.

Castle clearly has had enough and has moved on or is trying his best to - I know that he has not got the full story from Kate which is not good of him but I don't blame him right now being so upset he can't face even asking her.

She can't have her cake and eat it at the same time - the problem is that is exactly what she has been trying to do as the talks with Lanie seemed to be suggesting.

She doesn't want to offer him a phyiscal relationship until she's ready which is perfectly acceptable but you should at least have the decency to let the guy you know has said ILY in on the fact that day may come but it could take months or even years or even never come.

Then if he decides to stick around fair enough.

Rick is single and Kate has made nothing public to him about wanting him and insisting he stay faithful, if she had done he wouldn't look at that blonde at all he would be totally hers.

She chose not to take any risks and play it safe behind her walls and now she is paying the price - he's looking for fun elsewhere. It will not make him happy certainly because he loves Kate but he is doing nothing wrong.

  63. What a damn waste of time, ABC, please do not renew this silly show. Because at this rate, it's just becoming plain rubbish. Beckett should never ever trust castle again. I wouldn't, for goodness sake, the minute something is wrong, he is sleeping around with every blonde he can find. In fact I think it will be very out of character if Beckett forgives him and gets together with him. He hasn't changed, he is still sleeping around. One of the worst episodes ever. So not watching the next one, as this bad attitude of his will only escalate.

Beckett should just forget about him, he so doesn't love her. Hunt is way better for her. If I were Beckett I would never trust him again. I can just see it, if they get together and have alight, he will just go to Vegas and sleep with the next thing he can find. That's castle and he hasn't changed and will never change. If anything this episode only killed the shipper in me. I'm so pissed with him, I don't want Beckett to ever tell him her feelings. She is way better without an ass in her life.

  68. My whole perception of Caskett, of this beautiful and romantic love story that I believed they had just got tossed in the trash in this episode. It's like all of their chemistry and love for each other just vanquished in one episode. I felt more chemistry between Kate and Hunt here than between Caskett. I think we've always wanted an episode where (the-now-in-love-with-Castle) Kate would dress up in a gorgeous dress and dance with Castle and we were hoping they'd give us a scene like this in Ryan's wedding, but instead they give it to us with some random hot Scotish detective. WTH? I didn't mind Castle's anger from last episode, I enjoyed his intense emotions, but the way he was acting by being unprofessional was just dumb, I wanted him to give her more bitter comments and not just act dumb throughout. And Kate, you clearly can see Castle is not himself, do you seriously take his momentary ill-behaviour to tell you he's not the guy you want, have you forgotten everything you've learned about him in the past three years that you so easily gave up on him after one trial of confrontation? These two are just pathetic, I hope they enjoy their illusion of happiness apart. You know why such couples like them and Javi & Lanie don't last long? It's because they give up after one bump in the road, they stop fighting for each other and they friggin' don't COMMUNICATE!!! I did not want to see Kate call up Hunt in the end, I wanted to see her shed tears. I honestly believe that you don't love someone if you don't cry at the thought of losing them. I wanted to see intense emotions on her side. I wanted to see her chase after Castle, stop him and force him into a confrontation and not ask him if he liked this blond bimbo. It's like she's acting like he never told her he loved her before. Now I'm seriously starting to doubt if she actually heard him say "I love you", that maybe she thinks she remembers everything, but she doesn't. I wanted to see her determined to fight for their friendship and get to the bottom of Castle's behaviour, not start doubting him again, enough doubting him, I seriously think we should be over that after the Sophia thing happened. Because if Kate still doubts Castle, that means she hasn't fully accepted him for who he is yet, and that means he doesn't fully meet what she wants in a guy. Seriously, even if they do get together, they won't get anywhere if Kate keeps doubting him and not let herself trust him. And the Kate and Lanie conversation was over-rated, we learned nothing about why Lanie & Javi didn't work out and Lanie's answers did not feel any more encouraging to me, it's like she was telling Kate that she'll be setting herself up for pain, but she should give it a try anyway. Overall, it was a lame and disappointing episode. It seriously lacked the emotions that it so needed to show. And it looks the same thing will be dragged on for the next two episodes and the real confrontation we've all been waiting for will only happen in the finale, which sucks, because I seriously think they should give us at least one episode where they're actually together before leaving us off for the summer. I want a happy ending this year.

    ReplyDelete
  69. At this rate, I'm only watching the show because of Kate. I couldn't care less about Castle anymore. But really.... I almost feel like leaving, just like I left Bones at the beginning of the season. Either things don't happen, or they happen WAY too quick. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ok at this point im done caring if they do or dont get together. I just think they should stay friends and get back to the friendly banter they once had. This show has lost the fun element. This is all too juvenile to be believeable really. Im worried this whole mess will ruin the show for future seasons.I hope im wrong. Im feeling really blah about all this now.Im so done with all this silliness. I just dont care anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Well Marlowe has finally figured out a way to get people to not hound him about getting Caskett together. Make Dick Castle such a twisted version of himself and people will stop wanting them together. I hope in the final episode we find our this whole season after cuffed was a dream. This can't be the castle we have all been watching for 4 years.

  72. Caskett just flew it the window for me. Sorry I'm on Kate's side, castle can go to freaking hell and rot there for all I care. I really really hope she never forgives him. Yeah might as well keep the hint guy around, Kate looked better with him, than that ass of a castle.

Marlowe just ruined what he spent 4 seasons building with his fan base. There's angst, and then there's just pushing and pushing and pushing your fans to a point, where they feel do gusted with your characters. Honestly you can't watch castle in this one and not feel disgusted. He is still the same page 6 dick he always was.

    1. Okay first of all, Castle is only using that girl to distract him, and I bet he won't even sleep with her and use her like that, this is Castle we're talking about, the sweet adorable FATHER, the loyal and caring and thoughtful PARTNER. Have you guys all forgotten this? His behaviour is justified, he doesn't know Kate loves him and seriously believes she doesn't love him, so he is not intentionally trying to hurt her. Second of all, Kate is not loyal, clearly not after calling up Hunt in the end. She gave up after only one confrontation.

However, this current story arc is not entertaining to me and the interuptions by the boys are just getting tiresome. I don't like what is happening to Castle's character and would actually just prefer it if they just went back to the flirting as it seemed more believable. 1. ^This! I could handle Castle being awful to Kate all episode long, but Kate calling what's-his-name for that drink just pushed me over the edge. I was hoping she was calling Lanie, but clearly Kate doesn't want to here what she has to say anymore....

    2. Come on..... The guy is leaving in few hours. She was feeling like shit just wanted to feel liked.... Would anyone want a guy like the one we saw today???

  85. All I can say is...ouch! *cringes* Man Castle is not having it. Jeez. And you know what I LOVE LANIE!!!!!! Kate please, please, PUH-LEASE listen!!!!!!! My favorite part was Lanie's speech in the morgue....so true. And you know what, I was getting tired of Kate kinda jerking Castle around. He should be mad.....

But not too much longer cos I might have a heart attack...

  86. Oh wow Castle. Two for two in disappointments. Way to go. I really built up my hopes for this one, even after last week's disappointment, but it was terribly disappointing. Honestly, I'm not sure I'll be tuning into the next one (despite watching every week since season 1), and especially now that I have Bones on Monday, I'd rather watch one hour of good television rather than two, with one being depressing. Really hope AM and co wake up and realize that from the season 4 premiere to episode 2o, nothing has happened within their relationship that has any forward motion. 3 or 4 final jam-packed episodes in no way make up for the rest of the 20 very sub-par ones.

  87. Always means always castle. Man he obviously does not love her in an unconditional always way. He cowardly told her he loved her when she was about to die and in a relationship with another man and he can't TALK to her about all this. I mean I am really torn I don't want Kate to get whatever skeevy STD that Castle is probably getting from mile high Barbie if they DO get together.

  90. Gosh, this episode totally reminded me of Chuck v.s the Beefcake.

All I have to say is if they mess up Beckett and Castle like they did in the end of Chuck I'll be completely pissed.

Yes I know Chuck was by NBC. Just saying tv people are seriously messing up.

  91. I feel sick like when Mal slept with that old friend of Inara's on firefly. In fact I think I need to watch some firefly ( minus that episode ) to make me not feel so hateful toward Nathan. I mean that is how bad Castle's behavior was tonight, so bad that I need to find a way to like Nathan again. NATHAN FILLION. That is bad behavior because he is awesome sauce.

  92. LOL I might get burnt at the stake for saying this, but I thought this was a very, very good episode. The whole point is to make it suck before you make it good, otherwise there's no drama. Otherwise, it's just two people who would've gotten together by episode 7 and nobody would be watching by now. But we are. We had been warned, and they got me to hate the whole situation more than I would've wanted. It was painful to watch. Mission acomplished

But from that, to saying it was a bad episode? No way. It had me completely excited for forty minutes! It was so funny, specially at that scene with Castle's master plan to get in the consulate. And no, I didn't like his behaviour either, but did nobody else see Kate? We got to know she feels for the first time in 4 years, to actually voice her feelings, her doubts. I got to know the charachter more than I had in 4 seasons and honestly, I fell in love with her all over again. And Lanie? C'mon, it was sooo good! Sorry, just my opinion.

    1. Problem is I no longer care about Castle. I think he's a complete ass.

  93. Why does Beckett not get any blame in this conversation? She has known how he felt for years, and for sure after he said I LOVE YOU at the end of last season. He feels like he's been jerked around and this is the only way he knows how to move on. Give Castle a break already--he is clueless about how Kate feels, unlike you people. And he's hurt and angry and trying to protect himself a little by doing the only thing he knows how to do. He needs to feel like SOMEONE wants to be with him. Maybe if Beckett hadn't been so emotionally closed off for the last three seasons none of this would be happening. Look at your history--Castle has never made it a secret that he finds her beautiful and intriguing and that he's interested in her but she has never reciprocated a single time.

    1. Beckett doesn't get blamed much because she is trying. Yes she made a mistake, but she is trying to make things better, but castle is being an ass and deliberately hurting her. Beckett hurting him was not on purpose but he hurting her is. That's just wrong, even of you don't love someone, you don't treat them like that. It's like he doesn't give a rats ass of she got shot again. Hated the episode. Not worth watching to those who haven't yet.

    2. For years? Really like when she was about to put it on the line and go to the Hamptons with him and he had ALREADY gotten with his ex wife? The way I see it it's all on Castle. Kate's life has been too rough for her to be the one taking chances. And real chances not a last min ILY as she lies dying. He could have bypassed whatever emotional pain he is feeling now by just telling her how he felt in he hospital. But he gave up. He let her off the hook for his ILY he was the one that let t go. What if she really did not hear him what if it hadn't been a lie. Then cowardly castle 10 months later still wouldn't have manned up.

  94. I was so disappointed after watching this episode. It is time for Castle and Beckett to get together or the show will lose its audience. Castle needs to listen to his mother and tell Kate he loves her and see what happens.

  95. Can't stand castle...he can drop dead for all I care. Tis is going to be the worst season finale ever. Guys, Marlowe is just feeding us lies to get ratings, becau he is desperate, they haven't been renewed. Seriously this episode, only makes me feel they will never make it. There's no way Beckett will trust him aft his scandalous affairs now, and of she does, it will be stupid because no woman will accept a man like that. God knows what diseases he has now.

  98. Well, the only positive thing I can say about this ep was that at least at no time did they give us evidence to there being a physical relationship between Castle and the flight attendant. He never once kissed her. I guess I'm presently sticking to my confidence in him that he might go on dates, might even have wrapped his arm around her when she showed up, but that doesn't mean anything is happening behind the scenes. If he really loves her - LOVES her - he wouldn't cross that line. He wouldn't be able to. Guess we'll find out in a few episodes. Sigh.

  99. Can we just go back to Episode 17 and start again. I have loved watching Kate this season come to terms with her feelings towards Castle. Castle's loyalty to Kate and willingness to wait and help her through her problems has been a joy to watch. The journey the two characters have been on has been sweet. There are so many wonderful ways the two characters could have moved towards a relationship which would have been incredible to watch. I absolutely love these two characters and the show and have never thought to express my views as I have been enthralled with the journey and the interaction between the whole cast. I cannot tell you how disappointing these last two episodes have been. I know we are supposed to wait until the story plays out at the end of the season but I just don't want to watch this anymore. I don't like angst just for the sake of it and to the detriment of the characters. Bring back the romance please. Yes the secrets need to come out and they need to work through them but not in this way. I just don't like it anymore. I have no interest or anticipation for the next episode for the first time in four seasons. There is nothing that I can think of that can happen in the last episode that will go anywhere near making up for missing out on the enjoyment of 2 -4 episodes of a show I have always wanted to watch.

  101. If somebody who had been watching the whole show decided not to tune in anymore, they'd be plain dumb. This is ridiculous, guys, didn't you want movement? Didn't you want the subject to be addressed? Cause my, it was addressed. This is now officially about Castle and Beckett, and that can only be good. Be patient, for god's sake, it makes no sense to make it easy now! You've waited for 4 seasons, can't you wait a little longer? I'm going to see you here when the finale airs, because you know you're going to watch it. And I after tonight, I bet you're going to like it.

    2. Nothing was addressed. Te only movement was backwards on castles end. He was a big ol baby. And the look on his face he was looking for a reaction from her that is mind games and it is childish. I hope he gets shot next ep not fatal just enough to go through a minuscule fraction of what Kate has in her life.

    3. I'm sorry, but I don't think this finale will be any different from the others. Castle and Beckett will be completely away and against each other, the months apart. Yeah just the same. This season finale will not be good for them. Marlowe is beyond teasing now and just being cruel and stringin fans along. Yeah right, things will get better,a nd fans will be happy. He is just saying this to get fans to watch. Well I'm not giving in. This was a ridiculous episode, castle was as mean as mean can be, and Beckett will end up with more therapy with this rotten treatment from castle. And this is called entertainment for us viewers. The show is really becoming one of my least liked.

    4. C'mon, he's being and idiot, he's angry, he's heartbroken. He's just blind at the moment and all he can see is her not telling him out of pity. What, we've never been idiots? If we so love them, we should probably try to understand them. Can't believe it's that easy to give up after so much time.

      Delete
    5. Actually he's showing symptoms of PTSD, which suggests that he's responding to emotional disconnection caused by Beckett's near-fatal incident. To protect himself he's put up a wall between the realities of the incident and irrationally assumes that Beckett's secret was because she didn't love him instead of she couldn't deal with all of the trauma.

Castle quite possibly has a more serious case than Beckett ever had. It explains his irrational conclusions and subsequent childish actions. He's trying to protect himself in the only way he knows how.

    6. Nothing was addressed?? What episode did you watch? It wasn't addressed the way you wanted it to, but hello! Kate, anyone? Seriously, just be as disappointed as you want, but don't stick to wathing just Castle the idiot, cause apparently you missed a lot.

  102. Oh my god, I can't believe I say through that. What a huge huge huge crazy disappointment. I can't express how unhappy and annoyed I am. Everything I believed about castle just got smashed, and caskett??? That doesn't exist. They do not love each other. Marlowe has just screwed up big time, and lost a fan. I'm done with this show.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I knew nothing was going to be solved by this ep so I don't know why people were disappointed especially since the description of the next episode said he was teaming up with someone else which was a good indicator that nothing was going to be hashed out here. Though I will say most annoying season ever. I'm hoping someone locks those two in a room together until they admit their feelings because I can't take it the writers are purposely torturing us at this point. Hell I bet they read the fansites and tease us as anons because they can (hell I would) get our hopes up then crush them in a horrible way. Errr I'm going to go be depressed for a little bit.

  104. I kept saying i hate Castle through the whole episode. Hes just being too mean at this point. I mean, if he as an issue then he could take a break or something, not act like that. Hes making her suffer a bit too much with these little things he does (like "never better," and "we're usually more in sync than that").

I still think there's hope though. I'm hoping he gets tired of acting like an idiotic five year old, and keeping up with the act.

Funny, I thought it was gonna be fun watching the side of Castle that stands up to Kate, but again, hes just being too mean at this point. I like the nice, totally in love, drooling over Kate Castle much better. I miss him too.

If i were Kate I'd be crying in a corner, so i don't blame her for calling the really hot British guy. I'm sure he noticed she's in love with him anyways.

Hopefully next episode is a bit more hopeful in terms of their relationship.

Still watching though. Stay faithful people.

  105. I always look forward to Monday's, but oh my, I have no interest whatsoever in next weeks episode. It will be yet another sad ending. We wanted movement, forward movement. Not backward. Maybe Marlowe didn't get that memo. Horrible episode. After all the hype, it was sickening. Castle is disgusting. Blonde is disgusting. They are perfect for each other. Kate doesn't deserve someone like him. She should just move on, hunt is cute, go for him.

    ReplyDelete
  106. So, basically...Beckett ignored everything that Lanie said by the end of the episode and didn't even try to stop Castle from walking away.
After all of the advice and prodding, Kate still couldn't pluck up the courage to pull Castle aside and have a chat with him?
...And on top of that, after giving up immediately, she calls the British guy back at the last second?!

I know some people are annoyed by Castle's behavior, but honestly I was most bothered by Beckett. How could she just give up on Castle without even talking to him??

This episode was an exercise in futility. I almost wish it hadn't even aired.

    2. Oh she shod have said I love you too Ricky bear when he was about to check out the "specials" with the bimbo. Yes behavior like that from a man I am considering a relationship would totally make me open my bullet scarred heart up to him. She doesn't know why he is acting like this. For all she knows he could always do this. Get bored or annoyed and check out.

      Delete
    3. Yeah he made it clear he doesn't want to talk to her, what else is she to do. I'm glad she called hunt. Why should she sit in a corner and cry. Castles having a great time without her, she should too.

    4. ..and I swear, if Ryan/Esposito interrupt one more important Castle-Beckett conversation, and neither Castle nor Beckett tells them to shove off...there is seriously no hope for character development.

  107. Wow... I was not expecting this overwhelming hatred from the so called fans. It's almost comical how last week everyone ganged up against Beckett and now this week everyone is ganging up against Castle. Yes, Castle was way out of character. Yes, he was a complete jerk. But, guys... give him a break! He has literally been waiting for Beckett since season 2, thinking that they could have a future, and then to find out she is too scared to reciprocate the feelings.

That being said, I'm not saying I liked the way they handled the situation. I too felt that this could have been a more emotionally charged episode and it fell flat. I knew the girl talk would be overrated (hint: anything they spoil the hell out of generally is) and Castle was childish. I liked the anger and betray he felt last week, not this I don't care attitude we saw tonight. But, I do like that the ball is now in Beckett's court for once. It's kind of always been up to Castle to decide whether he's in or out, and now Beckett's going to have to decide if she wants to push for a relationship. Oh, and definitely did not like that Beckett called Hunt for that drink... I feel that she should be a little more heart broken and not so quick to jump ship.

Everyone should prepare themselves for the next new episode... it looks like Castle's boyish act will continue. On a somewhat related note, I think we will get to see Beckett talk to her therapist again.

To end my rant... I hate that everyone is calling for Castle's cancellation. HAVE A LITTLE PATIENCE! Now I know everyone is going to be like "we've been waiting for 4 seasons" but, realistically they wouldn't have gotten together in season 1 or 2. Also, AM said in his recent interview that many people would be unhappy with this particular episode and the other people would get the reasoning behind this episode. Remember, almost every cast member said fans would be HAPPY by the finale! So hold tight and don't give up on Castle just yet! It DEFINITELY deserves to be RENEWED!

  108. What sort of man in his 40's acts like this if they ever want to settle down? The writing this season has been horrendous. We're supposed to believe that this big "secret" of Castle investigating Kate's mother's murder, but it hasn't been brought up at all. The writers should have brought shown Castle making his own progress in the investigation this season, so that the "secret" would have some value to it. Now we have a man who is supposed to be so outspoken and forward, but he still can't say how he feels to a woman? It makes absolutely no sense for the character.
And with him being a novelist, he never questioned twice that Beckett may have been stretching the truth in the interrogation room in 47 seconds? These characters we have come to love are supposed to be intelligent, they now seem to act only like immature idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I hope Andrew Marlowe enjoyed his time as "puppet master". It's one thing to make the audience frustrated, but it's another to make the fans furious and loathe the characters they have grown to love. No fan will forget that these characters acted the way they did in tonight's episode, so much so that the characters coming together will feel false should it happen. This is not the way to keep fans loyal to the show. Everyone should have listened to Nathan....
