Sophia Turner (Jennifer Beals) has been tasked with saving the United States from going to war, and she intends to fulfill her mission. But she’ll have to do so alongside a very important person from her past: Richard Castle.
Tonight’s episode of Castle finds Castle (Nathan Fillion) coming face-to-face with his former flame as the team works to stop an event from occurring that would “plunge the U.S. into world war,” says Beals. But her arrival also stirs up emotions for Beckett (Stana Katic) after she learns that Turner was Castle’s first muse and he shadowed her while creating another character, Clara Strike. The distinction, however, is that Castle has gone through significant changes in the years since they were in a relationship, shares Beals.

Ok how do I put this nicely. Oh I can't! Sophia is nothing like Beckett, Jennifer! Plain and simple Beckett is a professional tough asses detective and isn't a flirt. Sophia on the other hand a total flirt, rude, condescending, and just obnoxious. Please don't put Sophia and Beckett in the same category.
ReplyDeleteJennifer's interview only makes me hate Sophia even more than i did after watching the episode.
Kate "You have no idea" Beckett isn't a flirt? Um...Okay. Dang, too bad that was why I liked her.
DeleteOh no, she is already feel us it's get worse in the second half. I hate this show and I hate Andrew Marlowe for going down this path. That's it, I'm not watching this episode, why should I to watch castle and Sophia probably sleep together. Her interview basically is a warning for shippers to be ready to be totally upset. I say let's not watch it all.
ReplyDeleteI agree, so pissed after reading this interview.im with you. I'm watching smash next week. Castle can do whatever the hell he wants. Obviously he will choose Sophia and that is the reason this interview says Beckett fans will be upset. And then at the veery end, Sophia will leave and he runs back to Kate. What the hell, he thinks Beckett is second place. No way, Beckett doesn't need this shit in her life. Castle can go to hell with Sophia. They are perfect for each other.
DeleteOk I'm in. I won't watch it. I refuse to be strung along. There are many other fans who can take that role. But I'm done.
DeleteSorry Jennifer beals, used to like you, but not anymore.
Count me in. I'm sick of this circle they in. It's not want I want to watch so I think I'm going to finally take some other folks advise on this blog and bow out of this show. Every time I'm annoyed , some fans will tell me to stop complaining and just sop watching if I am not happy. Well I still watched in hopes that things would change but after reading this interview and Jon's interview. I'm out of hopes and I will finally give up on the show. Let's hope smash gives me some much needed Monday night entertainment.
DeleteThis is bull shit. I'm not watching either. This show I getting worse by the minute and have people like Jennifer Beals in a interview which just makes us feel worse saying what she says. God what is wrong with Andrew Marlowe.
DeleteVote with your Remote! I'll catch up on the show online later on, but I am boycotting it on the actual air date. If they think this unresolved tension is still compelling, then let the Nielsen numbers speak for itself. I mean constantly teasing fans with the never-ending "will they wont they" is bound to increase the viewership, right? RIGHT?
DeleteTell me something I don't know!
ReplyDeleteRelax she wasnt talking about the relationship she was talking about Linchpin, it is going get worse. In her other interview she explained that her character is NOT interested in getting her old flame back all shes concerned about is saving the world from war. They have a past and its going the be ruff, with all 3 of them, but Rick loves Kate this just something they going have to get thru. "Shes not my partner, you are". He meant that and that dont mean just at precinct. He loves Kate its just as simple as that..
ReplyDeleteExactly why Im starting to dislike Jennifer beals, she said in her last interview she isn't interested in coming in the way yet all her actions last night proved otherwise. Was it really necessary to flirt with castle in front of Beckett or rub his arm or make eyes at him or be plain rude and condescending to beckett. It wasn't. But she did it anyway. And with regard to castle partner comment, I wasn't convinced I'd dint feel the sincerity.
DeleteMy god, I'm so tempted to not watch it. I really dislikes Sophia, and Jennifer's interview doesn't make me feel any better. We will see on Monday, of I watch or not. It will actually for the time on all two parters, be easy for me not to watch. First because I wasn't excited about the cliffhanger because abc gave it away. And then Sophia just annoyed me and I have no interest in seeing again. And castle just proved that he can so easily be affected by other women, it isn't even funny. It won't be too hard to not watch actually. More cons than pros.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, whoa - let's all just take a moment and calm down a little bit. Certainly after "Pandora", things don't look the best for our favourite ~partners in crime, partners in life~ . But let us have the story unfold for us - with writers, everything is thought through with a purpose, each line is edited and gone over with an intent. Please don't forget that it was Andrew Marlowe who gave us these wonderful characters to fall in love with in the first place. It's tricky with interviews & spoilers because they either get our hopes up or make us imagine the worst, and hardly do our minds ever let us idle in the grey area in between.
ReplyDeleteEspecially with this one, it's a two parter, so we only have half the story so far. If you would like to bow out after "Linchpin", by all means, it's a personal choice - but it would be much more pleasant for everyone if you did so quietly and without so viciously criticizing the creators of a show you once loved. But let's wait and see how it plays out - I guess part of me knowing that Andrew Marlowe and Terri Edda have such a wonderful, playful romantic relationship in real life has me convinced that he can't hope but want the same to play out for Castle & Beckett eventually, even if it takes a while to get there.
Whoa, haters. Where are you coming from? I thought it was a great episode and I'm excited for the second half. I haven't read or seen any thing that makes me think Castle will go for Sophia. I'm anticipating lots of action, lots of excitement, and some "annoying things" that ultimately contribute to the the depth and character development of our main heroes--things that will ultimately bring them closer together.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that some "fans" are more invested in getting Castle and Beckett together than they are in the show, so they are unhappy. I am a fan of the show, and I have plenty of reasons to have confidence that Caskett will end up together, and that they will do so in a way that is authentic, real and meaningful in the course of the show. I'm glad it's an exciting show with a real love story rather than some lazy storytelling that is shallow and lusty. I still think Castle is great, and I loved the most recent episode.
Exactly! Where is all of this nonsense coming from about Castle leaving Beckett for Sophia? That is NOT going to happen. Get real guys. Sophia won't even be in any more episodes after this. She said that when she took the role she was clear to AM that she did not want to play a love triangle. ALL that her character does is to bring out new emotions in Beckett and help her to evaluate her and Castle's relationship! The first part of this 2-parter was awesome! One of the best episodes this season and I think that Beals is doing an amazing job. In fact I think she is way more in to Castle than he is her, I think he just likes her gadgets.
DeleteDang, folks. I don't know what the "haters" here are watching, but I loved the first part and can't wait the the second half. Castle is just as excited about getting his fingers in a CIA top secret assignment pie as he has ever been. The googly eyes he made at Sophia weren't any different than the ones he made at the "cool toys" computer work in the first half. Love the show, love Castle and Beckett, love the poor left out of the loop boys, love the eye hugs from our duo, love the ticked off Gates, love it all!!! Go watch your smash and have a great time; I'll watch this show until death do us part!
ReplyDeleteIt actually was a very good episode. I liked it better than the Blue Butterfly which really wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The two-parter looks to be more like the Castle shows in previous years. As far as the relationship issue goes I'm non-commital. I think the writers are correct in believing once the sexual tension is gone viewership will plummet, unfortunately. Hollywood does not know how to write about successful marriages. The actors obviously don't know how to have successful marriages in real life either. it does reflect our society in that half of all marriages end in divorce.
DeleteI understand why this interview is upsetting but lets not jump to concluisons. I dont think jennifer meant that her and castle are going to sleep together . I think what shes talking about is her and castles past which worries beckett becauses she wonders if that this could end up the same way with her and castle. I just hope by the end of this episode that castle lets beckett know how much she means to him . I hope the writers arent using this as a way to try to make beckett pull away more from castle when she has been making progress in her thearapy and getting closer to going into a realtionship with castle.... I hope this episode brings castle and beckett together in the end and not drive them further apart and to create doubt in becketts mind. Im okay with beckett and castle not being together yet (although i cannot wait until they are !!) but i think they need to work on their realtionship getting stronger. Im tired of the whole beckett and castle getting closer and then something happens and they have a reason to be further apart again....so hopefully the writers dont go down that road with this episode or when the secrets come out.
ReplyDeleteAnyways i am going to try to stay calm until i actually see the episode...emphasis on *try* ...
-Brittany
I agree with you, I'm loving this episode but the ONLY thing that would worry me is that I hope Beckett really truly understands how much Castle has changed since then and not worry that he is going to do the same thing to her. I don't want this to cause her to pull back.
Deletethere is a youtube video that is now blocked. but it is titled castle season 4 linchpin part 2, it is an opening shot of castle and beckett kissing and its not the one previously aired, so all you people worried about sophia getting in the way she has expressed no interest and is focused on the ideals of the case the previews for linchpin are all of castle and beckett running together. the kissing scene im guessing is the ending to the two parter that forces the two of them to talk about their feelings. not getting hopes up but its what i saw.
Deleteguys u are overreacting , just calm down even though she was flirting ,& at first Castle was swayed by seeing her but he won't leave Beckett & the last few mins proves that & he is willing to tell Beckett everything about him & Sophia another thing everybody has a past , Sophia might be castle's Michael Royce so just calm down alittle , i know it is frustrating but u know that they will eventually end up together :)

We must be reading two different articles because there was NOTHING in this to justify the drama and negativity. Go watch Smash-sounds like the perfect solution to the over dramatization of many of these posts. Talk about making mountains out of molehills. Geez people, breath.
ReplyDeleteI agree with every comment made by a non- hater. Jennifer said in different interview that the first thing she discussed with AWM was that she didn't want her character to come between Castle and Beckett. I think her presence is just going to light a fire under Beckett's ass, and make her realize that she needs to come clean to Castle soon, because it's just not fair of her to keep him waiting for her while she holds onto a lie that will change everything between them.
ReplyDeleteIf the secret doesn't come out in the next episode (which it probably won't) I think it's something that will be heavy on Beckett's mind, because she's realizing that she could loose Castle, and it's time to fess up.
We'll probably learn more about the Sophia/ Rick relationship in the coming episode, and why it ended. Hopefully Sophia will back off and leave Beckett's man alone. I do sense a teensy bit of Sophia/ Kate bonding in Linchpin too, because Jennifer said that one of her favorite scenes was talking about Rick with Kate.
Evidently, this was overlooked by everyone who was at that point in the article deciding to give up on the show. Really guys? You're going to quit watching an amazing show with an excellent cast and superb writing because of something that a guest star said in an interview that may or may not be accurate. Wow. If that's so, then by all means, quit watching the show and quit commenting on these boards while you're at it. I can appreciate someone else's viewpoint, but I'm not going to tolerate straight- up hating.
At anon 9.16, I don't know what to believe with this show anymore. Anyway I'm still watching but we really don't need to tell people not to watch. I think the ratings speaks for itself telling us that people aren't watching if they are fed up. I couldn't believe how low the ratings were last night. I expected more for the two parter.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the ratings for last years two parter the first half only got a low rating and the second half got a lot more so I'm pretty sure the ratings will pick up again next week
DeletePlus ratings in total viewers each gets better overall for every season, season 4 is pulling even better than last season almost episode by episode.
DeleteWell put 9:16.
ReplyDeleteThis probably is what hit home for this interview.
"It was fun to bring something to the show that would maybe complicate the Becket-Castle relationship a little bit and give Beckett more information and give the audience more information about Castle.
The second episode is out of control…My apologies to all the fans who are huge Beckett fans. I apologize for any type of anxiety the character might cause you"
A)Heck yes, I cannot wait till the second part
B)I personally have wanted to know more about what Castle was like before, I think with that kind of Knowledge, we the fans will really see how much growth he's gone through between then and now through his partnership with Beckett and also because of.
C)Like 9:16 said, I think this complication will "light a fire under Beckett's ass", it already has. Think about the fact that she was willing to talk about it, and learn the whole story instead of just pushing it out of mind, like she's done before. I too think there will be some bonding over this too, It'll be like when Castle and Sorenson talked, the only thing they talked about because it's what they had in common was Beckett.
D)Anxiety is not pain, its not long lasting, which says a whole truckload. It says; Castle and Beckett move on, it's not overly serious and its not panic, it's just a discomfort. This screams to me, that in the end everything will be just fine, maybe better.
Last year we were left with Beckett hugging Josh, this year I hope it's Castle she's hugging.
Something you said in your "C" paragraph stood out to me- the fact that Kate is willing to talk about her jealousy. It brought me back to "A Rose Forever After" where Kate meets another one of Castle's old flames. Castle and Beckett are awkwardly silent while in the elevator together, when Castle starts offering up info on his relationship with Kyra. Kate responds with "I didn't ask."
DeleteWhat a total 180 we are seeing! From "I didn't ask," to "So how close were the two of you?" Its HUGE! It's subtle, yes, but it is character development. Castle and Beckett are headed in the right direction, and they will get there eventually.
So we fans need to sit back and relax. Just continue watching and enjoying the show for what it is- not for what you want it to be. Let's give Marlowe a chance to get our leads together. Let's stop jumping to conclusions every time a new spoiler comes out. Its just not worth it.
I'm glad someone else gets it. A little speculation is goo but...
DeleteYou my dear 11:22 are genius.
"Just continue watching and enjoying the show
for what it is- not for what you want it to be"
Most incredibly apt wording for this show and it's fandom EVER.
Seriously can I use this everywhere from now on? It's true.
It's difficult to explain but it's almost like people who want them to get together now say, it's not going to happen and then complain when it really doesn't, to me it makes absolutely no sense because their expectations are the outcome. How do they think we feel? We too want them together! The difference lies in the fact that we just WATCH and see the positives without the expectations of "if", because we're contented with a simple "when" and enjoy the progression.
Even after all that long windedness I still don't think this is the right way to explain how completely exact that your sentence is to me.
Ahahah!Do you refuse to watch the episode just for an interview?Really? I' m sorry but maybe you're not Fan as you claim to be. A real Fan should watch the episode and then complaining not before; and a real Fan should trust AM who gave us 3 awesome seasons. Btw everyone can have his opinion, sometimes you're boring! And when nothing will happen between Castle and Sophia, then you have missed another amazing episode..
ReplyDeletePs i' m exicited for all Castle's father stuffs
( sorry for my English,i' m Italian)
You're right AM gave us 3 awesome season, and then he fell asleep. This current season is disappointing on many levels. Just my opinion.
DeleteAt anon 9.16 and nikola, I applaud you both for having so much faith in this show. I however cannot share that sentiment, not after the past couple of episodes. I feel the writing is too boring and caskett is stagnant. The little hand rub etc is too little to be a caskett moment for me, at least at this point in the show. That would have worked in season one to three but now it's just not working for me. I have no faith in Andrew Marlowe especially when he keeps repeating certain things, like becketts jealousy. It's a lousy plot line and let's not forget how completely unbelievable the case was. Castle working with the CIA on some major case. I mean whatever happened to authenticity. Everything's been at Avery slow pace for me, I don't feel the heat, I don't feel the love. I don't feel anything anymore watching the show and that is most certainly. A bad sign. I watched the entire episode yesterday thinking what had gone wrong. How has a show that was so good, with so much sexual tension and foreshadowing and humor and cuteness between our leads, gone bad. And all I could think of was Andrew Marlowe not working his magic. He has done it before, we know that we have seen that, but for some reason he has lost his magic powers this season. Nikola, I love you idea about the hug, but let's not kid ourselves, deep deep down do you actually believe AM will give us that. So don't set yourself up for that, it isn't happening. Most is they will go grab a burger.
ReplyDeleteI personally, thought that the hand rub was over hyped. I didn't think it was a big Caskett moment, more significant was the fact that they've probably talked more honestly this season than any other.
DeleteI've been over the jealousy thing with others and I could argue this too and probably be successful, but it doesn't matter whether I am wrong or right because I can't change a set opinion, only open you to another.
So I won't say anything apart from giving my own opinion: it's pretty clear for me, that this is the most openly jealous Beckett we've seen ever. To me the more progress she makes the better it is holistically.
Your opinion on the pace is your own, to argue with you on this would probably turn sour because I'm frustrated at this reasoning. Not because of you but because I think something completely different. I don't think that it should be fast or it's too low, But that it requires the pace that it currently has for storyline purposes and also I'm constantly tempted to disagree with every post that says it, and if I did, I'd be here all day.
Also there is a difference in believing, and hoping. I refuse to second guess at AM, mostly just because I just can't, nobody except for Marlowe really knows whats going down. Yet I don't see why a hug is out of the question, both characters are single and incredibly deep friends, emotionally they're pretty much a couple already, it's just the physical they're missing. Even them going to Remy's for burgers later wouldn't bother me in the slightest, because they'll be together and it's as simple as that. Why do you think a hug is so far out of reason? You want them together, so do I the difference is that I can see them getting it together at the end of the season, where as you dislike what the show is doing at the moment because you can't, and that is probably the overall biggest split fan opinion of this season.
You may be right nikola, I guess I don't think there will be a hug because we have had a few chances for that this season, but nothing came out of it. In rise when she says everyone is gone, castle just stared at her, in cops and robbers, that would have been perfect or even in kill shot, a hug was so needed. But we didn't get that. So based on history I feel that it isn't going to happen. Yes it would make a good ending, but as I said I have no faith in AM anymore. But I understand your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteSee it's funny how our opinions are the same but also differ, I'm totally like "I KNOW RIGHT! HE SHOULD'VE JUST FREAKIN HUGGED HER!" on all three occasions, but I'm fairly patient enough to be cool without it.
DeleteAs for your lack of faith, to be honest that must really suck for you, I would hate to watch with that perspective. Good for you that you still do. I hope there is a hug just for own sake and surprise, I'll be thinking of this conversation at the end of Linchpin.
God I just have to say I really hate Sophia. And Jennifer's apology doesn't make me hate Sophia less. Still hate her with a passion. I don't get it, Jennifer said that she doesn't want a love triangle drama etc, then why the hell is she flriting with castle, and being horrible to Beckett?
ReplyDeleteGuys where she said that Castle and Sophia will end in the bed? From promo I see her angst on Rick.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be different now, she will want to suspend Beckett from her duties or away from the investigation. I think that 'Jason Bourne' and DD will be on the same team against Sophia, and this will be twist.
I really didn't enjoy Beals performance as Sophia. It's sad because I thought she would be great from the clips last week. The problem was she was totally unprofessional, she acted like a cat on heat most of the time, feeling his lapel, standing as close as she could often in between Castle and Beckett, she even spoke directly to Rick cutting Kate out of the conversations at certain points and he was the civilian.
ReplyDeleteRick didn't help matters by his reactions I'll admit but it was just so rude and really got my back up. I hate it when women get like that over past loves in front of new ones, she must guess there may be something between Castle and Kate and yet she acts like that in front of her? Bad form. And in the preview for next week, she's acting like some scorned lover shouting at Rick, again just really unprofessional, keep it out of work!
I just think Beals should have played things much cooler in those scenes because they really annoyed me, it's just childish not sexy, it makes her look like some love sick fool with an ulterior motive. Whatever they had it's over and the way she's playing it you would think Sophia is just out to cause trouble deliberately for Kate and Rick. I hope Beals can redeem herself in the next episode but doubt it by the sound of things. If someone at my work had acted like she had I would have just been embarrassed and lost all respect for them.
And Rick needs to realise that mooning over some ex lover when the women your profess to love is standing right there is just plain dumb and thoughtless. I thought he was smarter than that. My heart bled for Kate in the elevator when she was telling him he was not part of her team due to to the way he looked at Sophia. Rick had better step up to the plate next week and prove beyond any doubt where his loyalties lie and it's Castle's job to make Kate feel special again.
100% right! And especially to elevator scene. Kate was really miserable, he is still that dumb in reading her or what? She doesnt need sorry, she need to know that he is 'always' on her side not just by saying this but in doing this.
DeleteI dont know maybe writing in this season is weak or flat I have problem in reading Rick what he really want.
In almost whole episode I wondered where is Rick who said "she is the best" to the mayor.
You said it perfectly. I am all with you on this. I hate sophia, just rubs me the wrong way you know. And i too hated that she was so unprofessional in conduct, i mean kate is the detective here, she should address Kate and not Castle. And im suppose to believe she is some big ass CIA agent, yeah right.
DeleteI totally was pissed with Castle. And i have noticed this a few times already, whenever some hot random woman or woman from his past comes, he becomes a differnt castle, and conveniently ignores Beckett. He needs to decide what he wants. He wants his past or he wants Beckett.
Well said, i too hate women who purposely throw themselves on ex lovers to make a point or make the new lover jealous. Its cheap. And it was obvious she was doing that. And that yelling in the promo, just shows how unprofessional she is. I have absolutely no respect for sophia.
The whole episode I kept thinking that Castle is heartless. He acted like a moron and I dont like that at all. Just because some old flame shows up, you allow her to be all over you, right in front of a woman you are waiting for. And also reciprocates the flriting. Bad taste.
That elevator scene was painful to watch, i felt like slapping castle, for just keeping quiet and not reassuring her straight away. If he really loves Kate then he needs to start being more sensitive to her needs and insecurities. Yes i agree he needs to make her feel important and special, not just another sophia turner in his life, because from what i gather of the first part, beckett is just another sophia.
So true. I questioned Castle love a million times in this episode. I feel like the I love you was said in the heat of the moment, because his actions with Sophia dont show me his love for Beckett one bit.
DeleteAnd can i just say that Sophia is the biggest bitch ever. Hate her so much.
Totally hated Jennifer Beals. She played the character so horribly, im sorry but there wasnt a single thing that i enjoyed in her portrayal. She pissed me off, to an extent I turned the channel during her scenes. Thats how bad it was for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd that scene in the elevator broke my heart. Made me just hate castle then. Everytime some woman comes, Beckett is pushed aside. His little youre my partner line didnt do it for me. Tell her somehting she doesnt know you fool...tell her how important she is.
This interview doesnt make me dislike sophia any less. She was a condesending and arrogant know it all who put Beckett down. Really hate women like this, so unprofesisonal and its such a turn off. Worst guest star.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is that if Castle likes women like this, he isnt a real man. Im a guy myself and women like Beckett are what real men would want. And a real man wouldnt toss aside someone he claims to love.
I thought I hated Serena Kaye, but Sophia gives new meaning to the word hate. Never hated a fictional character as much as I do her. Just wanted to reach out and punch her smug face. Didnt like how they portrayed her at all. Makes women like her look desperate to cling to some old flame, and that cheap behaviour of hers talking to castle and not Beckett when Beckett is the cop was so telling of what type of woman she is. Not looking forward to seeing more of her next week.
ReplyDeleteMartha should smack him in the head, she is again shipper with her 'better half' line LOL
ReplyDeleteI would be super confused if I were Kate. Seeing Castle get all lovey dovey with this woman would have me second and third guess everything he has ever said. Castle needs to show Beckett just how important she is to him or he doesnt deserve her. Castle actions in this episode had me question his real feelings for Beckett. This show is becoming to angsty and difficult to watch. And that makes turning the channel all the more easier.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with all of you and even the way he "assures" Kate in the car it's simply egocentric and I don't really see anything sweet or special in his statement "look, it was never the way it is with you and me.." As far as we know that could mean that they were in a real relationship and not a surrogate one, so certainly it was different!
ReplyDeleteExactly anon 6.35, thast why I didnt find the car scene or the park scene special. It was too general, just friends talking. And he hsould have said something like she isnt you instead of youre my partner she isnt. That was not heartfelt to me. I still wished he apologized, she deserves a huge apology for his childlike and insensitive behaviour.
ReplyDeleteSometimes he seems confused himself! What does he think?? Maybe that since Kate didn’t hear his confession he can be justified in his misbehaves and eventually entitled to change his mind on the entire thing?! Sorry for overreacting I know it is crazy but it is my impression.
ReplyDeleteLuckily I remember Nathan Fillion saying during an interview that “once you say ILY to someone else you cannot take this back...” so I hope that was Castle's thought in that moment and not Nathan’s personal opinion.
My poor shipper heart keeps taking a beating over these two. And now that Sophia person just has done it for me. I'm done being jerked around. For the sake of my shipper heart, I need to stop watching it. Im not trying to be mean or anything, but a girl can only take so much of being jerked around until she gives up. Losing me as a fan won't bring the ratings down, so dont hate me. It's just one person. I invested almost 4 years and I'm not seeing any returns on my investment. So I'm taking my business elsewhere. Heard smash is good. Will give it a try and see.
ReplyDeleteHaha return on Investment...cute! I'm with you, I'm not seeing returns on my 4 year investment either, all that time spent watching and shipping and hoping, and for what. For me to see 4 years later, that Rick castle is still a jerk and can't decide if he really loves Kate Beckett or not.. Hell no!!! I'm not sitting and watching that. So can I come with you.
DeleteMy shipper heart is also not liking this. I'm so conflicted. Part of me wants to be loyal to castle but part of me is screaming to put myself out of this misery turn the channel. The journey just has lost its momentum, now it's pretty much stagnant with a hand rub here and look there. It's too juvenile and definitely not swoon worthy or caskett worthy.
DeleteHey I'm not getting any returns either. Where can I take my business? Smash? Is it good?
DeleteYeah.. me too.. I am not enjoying their journey anymore..
ReplyDeleteI know!!!! Me too...maybe its time for us to make a move...
DeleteI'm sorry but Jennifer beals or Sophia can take her CIA toys and team and take a hike. No one speaks to our Kate like that. And castle, what the hell? He better make it up to Kate. He was such an ass in this episode, making eyes and flirting with an old flame after saing he loves beckett. How disrespectful and heartless.
ReplyDeleteThat scene where Kate tells castle he isn't on her team broke my heart. Her facial expression and tone showed how she was trying to be strong but was so hurt by his actions. That scene alone made me totally hate Sophia, and castle too alittle bit, for putting that face on Beckett, and making her feel like she isnt important. I had half my mind to sop watching because I didn't want to see castle flirt with Sophia in front of Beckett again. Stana has that face that makes you feel really sad when she is sad. And it really showed in this episode.
Are you blind ? He has done everything to tell Beckett that She wasn't important. He came to Beckett to say "I am YOUR partner".
DeleteHe did not flirt with her. Please stop hating Castle because Beckett is hurting by her irrationnal jealousy.
And If I may be heartless myself, but I am blaming Beckett for all the thing she put Castle through. She is lying to him, she insult him. She spent 3 freaking year to act insulted if someone even mentionned that they could be together (at least in front of Castle).
Payback a bitch !
Guys you dont understand. It was Marlow evil plan to bring a ton of angst in this episode. I think the key lies in 'Head case' episode: "BEATING THE ODDS"
ReplyDeleteI think that in second part they will working together to fix what was damaged. And after that they relationship will be stronger.
Jut give them a chance.
I really really want to believe that anon 7:56..
ReplyDeleteThe point is: the ODDS..they already faced death plenty of times.. What could we imagine worst??
The entire situation is becoming unrealistic to me
Oh my god, I god damn hate Sophia! I wanted to throw my remote at her. And what with castles annoying behavior. And Sophia is one dumb CIA agent. What CIA agent in their right mind would give an assignment of this capacity to a writer? And she addresses castle more than Beckett when Beckett is the NYPD cop. How ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI hope that we will see Castle voluntarily and consciously rejecting Sophia.. and not just being subjected to HER decision (as it happened with Serena). I know that keeping Castle ambiguous is part of AM evil plan but it cannot work forever..
ReplyDeleteBest ending ever: Rick clearly pushes away Sophia while Kate is watching from a distance..
Wouldn't that be awesome?
Lol, holy moly you guys are mad! I'm not very happy with the pace myself but omg.. As for Sophia, I really love Jennifer Beals, and she's not doing a bad job apparently, otherwise you wouldn't hate her character so bad.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this elevator scene and I think that sad/hurt Beckett isnt the main point here. I mean yes she was sad and Castle isnt senstitive but the main point is that they are looking from two different POV on case. I mean Castle is always about whole story, Gage the man who Beckett chasing is only one piece of this story. Beckett seeing the world like she has blinkers "I'm cop" and thats all. Isnt she through these years working with Castle still not learned that its always story? Isnt she learned from her mother case that Lockwood and Coonan were only tools/pieces in whole conspiracy?
ReplyDeleteBtw in their conversation is funny parallel Castle said something about "saving the world" remember what she said about Josh in 3x13 in sarcastic tone "Oh he is saving the world"
I don't think Castle's reassurances were enough, not for me they weren't and I don't think they should be
ReplyDeleteenough for Kate right now. In the elevator when she said you're on her team and she's clearly very hurt he should have immediately reassured her but he
didn't. In the car what does he tell her that he knew Sophia for a "brief moment" later Kate prises out
of him that it was a YEAR. He then tells her "it was never the way it is with you and me". Well that's
true Rick because you clearly slept with Sophia!
When he calls her his partner, again I was not impressed - what does partner really mean to him? Partner in crime? Partner in love? Partner like a cop partnership?
I realise she hasn't made any declaration towards him in words so he's not officially hers to claim but I assumed that back on the swings he knew what she meant and he was waiting for her.
Well if this is his version of waiting he's got a funny way of showing it, he must know how vulnerable Kate is yet he just came off as being totally insensitive to what was going on and allowing Sophia to look him up and down like he was some juicy steak.
To be fair, he did tell Kate she could ask him anything but of course they got interrupted but would he have been truthful? And it seems clear Kate is going to find out in any case so she will be further upset and confused.
So Rick has some work to do proving that he still loves only Kate and he can make a start by no longer fawning over his ex and Sophia can start acting like the supposed professional CIA operative she is and less like an hysterical woman scorned.
I just wish Marlowe had never started this ex muse storyline because after this episode it makes you doubt Castle's attachment to Kate and if it's genuine and strong. I believe it is the real deal for Castle but Marlowe isn't helping by putting Kate through this kind of crap.
The sisterhood sure wasn't much in evidence in that CIA office I can tell you.
Wait wait wait Kate was doing very VERY vague promises on certain swings so Im not sure if he understand her. I think the chess scene was significant, he was totally open, and want honest talk.
DeleteLike Beckett has something to say about being truthfull and straighforward with you feelings.
DeleteLike Beckett never ever flirt or kiss a man in front of Castle knowing very well that he has feeling for her (remember Demming, or Josh for that matter). Castle never was subtle about his feelings.
Like Beckett have absolutly no fault about how this reliationship his going. She destroyed Castle confidence. She made him a sad miserable man, who is still in love with her and still waiting with her.
And Beckett has ALL the work to do to prove that she being in fact in love with Castle. Act are good but they could be misinterprêt. Like a "you look good" said to an old friend (or ex) is understood like flirting. (This is not flirting BTW)
Please, do not let you love for Beckett make you blind about her flaws and fault and hating Castle for some things he never done.
I didnt read everyones comments so I am repeating things forgive me. We have no idea what kind of relationship they had 11 something years ago. What caused them to go there seperate ways. They may have been together or they may have not. The point is there was a past between them and it has been a lonnng time since they seen each other and I am sure that alot of memory is coming out between both of them.. That is natural to have unsolved issues with someone from our past. Its not going be a comfy situation with Castle, Sophia, or Kate.
ReplyDeleteSituations like this happen in reality a past comes back into our lives and we have to try and work thru it and get peace from it.
We watched the build up in Pandora the questions and the unresolved issues and the insecurities. Linchpin is where we will get the answers It wouldnt be a well planned 2 parter if we knew everything the first half.. SO relax haters and watch the show and see our DD rise above these situations..
To stick up for Sophia the woman knew Rick along time ago and even tho i am certain shes not interested in him now, she still has some feelings that are still in there and thats why we are seeing her touch him and try to size kate up a bit. Theres some unresolved feelings there and its common for an old flame if she is an old flame to want to feel that again. You will see tho that she is not after Rick shes only interested in saving the world from ww3.
Rick loves Kate thats the whole story and nearlly drowns trying to cut her loose from seatbelt.. He is risking his life to get her out. He is protecting her from another sniper shot, he stays with her at the 12th even tho he could write 5 books of Nikki Heat without ever stepping foot in the 12th. to be with her.. Then to switch gears and go after Sophia. Some of you really need to go back to season 1 - 4x15 and really pay attention to each episode.
Cuz we are definitly watching 2 different shows if you think Castle will give Kate up for Sophia..
Well said. The fandom is crazy, they need a voices of reason.
DeleteAnother thing Castle didnt plan for Kate, she walked into that book party and by the end of that episode Castle was in aweee of her. Castle followed Sophia to get info on a female CIA that is his love the CIA.. He followed Kate not to do research on NYPD but to do research on her for Nikki Heat.
ReplyDeleteSo I can see why we see Sophia as his first muse but more on the information of a Female CIA Agent not her herself.
With Kate he was more interested in Kate, then Nikki Heat and wanted to know more about her so thats why Nikki Heat was born. He knew more about homicide to write books on a woman in the NYPD. His target was Kate herself.
So theres the difference in the muses IMO..
One of the best explanations I have heard. Bravo!
DeleteI second that Bravo! I didn't even think of it that way, but you're absolutely right. Sophia said he wanted "A look at the life a female CIA agent..." so it could have been any female CIA agent, but for Nikki Heat, it had to be Kate. So sweet!
DeleteI am probably one of the few people here who don't actually hate her. First because she's a fictional character so why spend so much energy hating a person who doesn't exist and secondly, she's only pushing caskett forward, I know that some of you disagree but don't you think that kate opening up is good sign? I might not find that a lot of progress but we haven't seen the second part yet and it usually gets better in the 2nd episode especially since we know that kate and sophia are gonna talk about castle (and don't believe the spoilers it may have nothing to do with castle's father, AM didn't say that) so maybe things will move forward between caskett so I don't mind sophia flirting with castle. As for castle acting like an ass, well I'm not saying that he didn't, I just think that we should give him a break. I mean he's a guy after all and as far as we know he hasn't slept with any woman since gina and that was like a year ago or more and then he meets sophia who once was his muse and she's flirting with him and let's not forget how excited he must be, it's like his dream to work with the CIA, and I know that some of you didn't like that because he's supposed to be in love with kate and I totally understand what you mean but if we look at things from his side of view we'll find that he has no clue if he and kate will ever be together, for him this will only happen if the JB's case is solved which might take years that's if they actually solve it someday because he knows that kate might get killed in the process and unlike us he doesn't know that kate is seeing a therapist to break her walls. So I can understand why he's acting like that, I mean he's guy after all don't you think he'd like it?(I'm a girl by the way) and I find that the way he acts around sophia is what makes the show realistic and not a fairytale because it shows castle as a normal guys who makes mistakes like everyone , they don't try to make him perfect and that's what I love about the show and it doesn't that he doesn't love kate because he has clearly made efforts to apologize like when he told her that she's his partner.
ReplyDeleteI am sure linchpin is going to be great and I hope that you guys watch it and then see if you don't like it. I Can't wait till moday and sorry for my english, I'm moroccan.
I THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO CALM DOWN AND WATCH THE EPISODE.
ReplyDeleteFor people that keep saying the ratings are really bad and your gonna stop watching castle and go start watching 'smash'just read this
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wetpaint.com/castle/articles/abcs-castle-finishes-with-10-percent-more-viewers-than-nbcs-smash-on-monday-february-13-2012
It shows that Castle is still doing amazingly and still has a really strong fandom. So for people that wanna go watch 'Smash' for what ever reasons then go ahead the ratings will still be amazing for 'Castle' and it will still be a lot better then 'Smash' so yo will be the ones missing out. This probably isnt gonna be a popular comment but hey it had to be said
once dancing with stars starts again, i think ratings will rise a bit, but still it's not good that without it the show doesn't hold on it's own.
DeleteEven old episodes airings have bad ratings, not saying it's important, but it's a good tell.
10%more isn't that great a lead, especially since we've gone from 13.6 million viewers in Rise all the way to 8.9 million viewers for pandora. You have to bear in mind, smash is a new series and it's already garnering that much viewership. It's got known stars, old school style songs, and is fun. It's an attraction. Especially when castle is keeping things very bland.
DeleteI mean can you honestly tell me you don't miss all the heat between our leads. Where's the banter, the innuendo, the flirting. Yes I know now they are in a different place, one with love, so castle is taking a step back to allow for becketts walls to be brought down. But that doesn't mean he can't joke or still mildly flirt with her I mean he is still attracted to her, so why not. And where's the eye sex. They were great at it. I don't know, just my opinion but somethings missing this season and it's making the whole journey that AM keeps talking about very dry and boring. I want more plain and simple, and I don't mean sex or jumping into bed, or making out like horny teenagers. I mean some real talk between these two about where they are at and what they want. At least Beckett needs to tell castle how she feel, some real spending time together, not just the precint. I need progress to be interested in this show. Because I will be the first to admit, I dont watch for the cases, they arent fabulous. I watch law and order for procedural input. Castle is all about the mix of both, cases and their relationship. But unfortunately for me, both have fallen flat.
Serioussssslllyyy. some of you guys are overreacting. THEY EVEN SAID THAT SOPHIA AND RICK ARE DONE THEY'RE NOT GOING TO SLEEP TOGETHER. instead of coming up with your own damn assumptions about what you "think" is going to happen just watch the freakin episode. im sorry but its rediculous that because of ONE INTERVIEW with a character WHO ISNT EVEN NORMALLY ON THE SHOW your going to stop watching it? THEYRE GOING TO BE TOGETHER GUYS. but they have a story. and i enjoy watching it. i fell in love with castle for its humor, suspense, action, mystery, and sexual tension. and yes, i want them to be together, but honestly its not the reason i fell in love with the show. i think if you guys really love the show and are true fans you should stop worrying about "stringing you along" because again they have assured us "they will be together", and if you don't want to watch the show, because them hooking up is all you want to see, then fine. stop watching. its your freakin loss. but im tired of all the panicking and threatening. as i said in another comment on a different article, FULL SPEED AHEAD CASTLE. i'm with you until the end.
ReplyDeletei love the people who are going to watch "smash" wtf? its a totally different show. you guys are unbelievable. rick didnt do anything wrong. he had past loves. so did beckett. we just dont see hers. and honestly, all he did was look at her. and hes not going to do anything with her. it said "theyve changed". maybe he still admires her, but he loves beckett and we all know that. god "bones" fans had to wait like 6 and a half years and they didnt even see anything and they STILL watch the show. im pretty disappointed in a lot of you guys. but i mean hey, if your miserable, don't watch the show. but don't tune in when you see they're finally going to get together, because your not worthy enough to watch the ABSOLUTELY AND FANTASTIC ending that they're going to have together. and you wont even get to see them in bed. *sigh* sucks for you (;
ReplyDeleteAwsome way of putting it *thumbs up*
DeleteNot to make anyone sound bad here, but just because we are all castle fans doesn't mean we blind watch it even it is isn't entertaining us. For some of us, the thrill isn't there, and it's because of lack of movement with castle and Beckett and lack of really good story lines to keep us interested. They have lost a few good writers from the past seasons and that's probably why the cases aren't that good anymore.
DeleteI know this is a show but some form of realism should be maintained. I don't know who wrote pandora, but there were a number of things that just didn't make sense and is just not possible. Castle being allowed to work on a case that's meant to stop a catastrophic event which may mean the end of the united states. Castle is assigned to do that. I mean come on, that's so beyond any form of realism. Beckett I understand, they need her help and she is after all a real cop. But there's no way the CIA would just allow a civillian to help them on some top secret case. Aren't they afraid he will cause a riot by accidentally slipping information and causing some riot or scaring people. And as a CIA agent, Sophia can't just say that she trusts him so she knows he won't do that. I mean it's all too silly. Then there's the issue of how unprofessional Sophia was as a CIA agent. Flirting is one thing, but addressing castle instead of Beckett just because she knows castle is just amazingly ridiculous. Castle shouldn't even be there, he should have been told to leave. Captain gates isn't allowed to know a thing but castle is. Seriously!
Then how is it possible for an 18 year old with absolutely no qualifications or experince to work with an ME at active crime scenes??? And her father didn't even know, wheres the consent form. And realistically only pre med students are considered for that internship, yes just considered not even given easily. She has no experince she could tamper with evidence. And a body goes missing under her watch. I mean really you got to laugh at that.
So yeah do you really think Its crazy and wrong that some of us have lost interest? It may be fun for you, but like I said I'm not blindly watching a show. There must be substance, and a good start, middle and ending. Some of the cases we have got this season is just writing at its worst. Not good for a show in its 4th season.
And you may think we don't deserve to watch when they do get together, but you know what, I will watch it then. I will admit that once caskett gets their act together,a nd things start progressing I will be happy to watch again. Because then it will definitely become more interesting to watch. Even if the cases are as far fetched as pandora, at least it will be fun to watch castle and Beckett maneuver their relationship, because we know they are going to have lots of issues, like any other couple, so that will interesting to see, a new phase of them. And im not interested in seeing them in bed, I want to see them have a real honest to logo oddness romantic relationship, which means talking and laughing and washing movies together, and spending time with Alexis. The bedroom scenes would just be bonus but that doesn't make a relationship.
So you guys can call us haters or whatever, but I think I've justified my opinions.
You definitely have.
DeleteBut are you insinuating that just because I have a positive opinion and I'm having fun still watching, I'm blind? Just as you have your opinion I too have mine, I don't think I should be discredited based on the fact that it's a positive one.
Haters is used to describe those that Hate without cause, that's not how I would describe you. You're disappointed. This I mean with no offense, I'm honestly curious as to why if you dislike the show do you still watch and make yourself unhappy week after week, is it out of loyalty? Or is it just to be continually disappointed and then to come and comment here? I'm the first to admit when I got to your stage in Bones I stopped watching all together and tuned back in for one episode to see them together and then I haven't watched one episode since. I can assure you from now that I won't ever do that with Castle.
There are countless arguments that many would produce to counter your own, and those are just our opinions. For me they are already doing all of the things you've said, they've gone to the movies, they've shared hot chocolate, had dinner with the family, talked and laughed together through this whole season. They're already in a relationship, he trust her she trust him, they just haven't solidly defined it yet. But what do you expect?
Of course our opinions will clash, they're different. There's no point trying to decide who's opinion is better, it's just a matter of listening to both.
Nikola, I think you answered your own question. I watch because though I'm disappointed I don't dislike the show. Disappointed and dislike have two very different meanings. And I commented based on what Anon 10.59 said. That only someone who watches every episode is entitled to see it till the end. To me that's a childish comment. If fans aren't happy, just let them leave their comments, The haters don't call you guys silly for tuning in. It's your opinion and choice. So I think everyone should also respect negative comments. I dont speak for everyone, but I stick to my reasoning.
DeleteAnd to be clear I am not insinuating that you or anyone else is blindly watching, I'm just saying that I don't blindly watch. I look for depth, and by my standards I didn't find it in this weeks case. And just to be clear, I'm not saying that since I look for depth, you don't. I don't know you and I'm not talking specially about you or anyone else. I'm only referring to myself. I just said that it may be fun for you, I never said in any way you are blindly watching. It's called a difference in opinion. You like something that I don't. That's all it is.
I'm going to say this again because it's driving me batty: Alexis is 18. She is a legal adult. She can sign her own contracts. No form of parental consent would be needed.
DeleteIf some of you are overseas it may not work that way, but the show takes place in New York. She's considered an adult. Quirks of US law allow her to vote, join the millitary, get married, and enter into legal agreements. But, she can't drink alcohol. Yes, we are weird. LOL
Haha GB, that's funny. But doesn't she need to be someone who is at the very least studying medicine? I mean can anyone just intern to work at crime scenes, with no experience? Isn't that a law suit waiting to happen?
Deletethe interships are for experience + I'm fairly sure if she's over 18 she can give her consent anyway right?
DeleteI don't know exactly I live in Australia, when we turn 18 we can do anything.
@8:25 thats cool we're pretty much on the same page, I'm glad we can disagree in a civilised manner, it's good discussion, as someone whose bored it's good entertainment. I can't say I enjoy the negative comments, but the good ones do show depth, and I read those, the reasoning is good and I can respect that.
For one I was just putting it out there that I agree with you, like I said I did the same. I don't think its horrible if you stop watching and only start again when they get together, who cares? That is honeslty a bit childish.
She's not participating at the Crime Scene, she's shadowing and observing, just like Castle. She can't do anything hands on medically, but what she's doing? Sure. They aren't saying she's a medical Intern, as in post med school. It's just a quirk of language.
DeletePut another way, if her internship involved following Espo or Ryan around taking notes, would you expect her to have a criminal justice degree. Most cops don't have that. And her father surely doesn't.
While I'm here, about Lanie talking to Alexis. First of all, Alexis could have overheard Lanie (who ships Caskett to corpses, remember?) or even Kate. Second, anything that gets Alexis to see Kate as more than "the woman her dad works with" as Molly Quinn put it, is a good thing if you ask me.
Agreed GB. It goes both ways, if Alexis can learn about Kate, then Kate should learn about Castle from his friends, personally I'm all of a sudden intrigued with what Castle was like before Kate. Just to see how much he's grown.
DeleteIt's giving insight just like using the therapist. It shows us how he comes off to Kate, when she goes to complain to Lanie.
I think that twist will be here that Castle hadn't romantic relationship with Sophia. I think it could be platonic love, something like Kate to Royce. He said "I was young, and she had a lot to teach me" Kate "Yeah, I'll bet" she clearly think that he slept with her but he said with a serious face "About the shadowy world of espionage"
ReplyDeleteAfter rewatching the episode I see some things little different.
Hmmm, that's an interesting way of looking at it. I know that some fans are convinced that Kate slept with Royce, but I personally doubt it. Still, we don;t know for sure because it was never addressed. I hope the writers don't let us wonder wether Castle and Sofia were romantically involved or not like they did with Kate and Royce. I want answers!
DeleteSophia is acting unprofessionally simple as that, if my boyfriend met by chance and old ex flame and she was behaving towards him as Sophia was towards Castle I would be having some harsh words with him and giving her the stink eye. If Sophia and Castle were alone together in a non work environment then I could buy their flirting but at work with the object of your true affections standing right there? No way is that acceptable.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I have no doubts that Sophia will be gone by the end of Linchpin and I trust that Kate and Castle will be stronger than ever.
I hate how they made this Sophia character. I mean does she have to so bitchy and condescending. She is asking Beckett and castle for a favour but acting like they owe her that. And it was really dumb how she was talking to castle more than Beckett when Beckett is the detective. Keep your personal feelings out of the way woman. I mean if she wanted castle so much, she can meet him for drinks, why flirt and be all unprofessional at work. I just didn't like her.
ReplyDeleteWell, Marlowe can separate Caskett as long as he wants. I dont mind waiting for them to get together.
ReplyDeleteBut keep bringing another woman to make Beckett jealous ? That's another story. I'm getting tired to see Castle flirting with another chick and Beckett get hurt.
I really hope this is the last episode for jealous Beckett.
If there is another man/girl for Caskett, I stop watching this show. Period.
Sorry for my English. I'm Indonesian
Sophia doesn't have a chance against Kate. Aside from the fact that Castle is madly in love with Kate, she is also much younger (Jennifer Beals is actually 48, so her character's got to be somewhere around there, and Kate is 31 or 32) more beautiful, and more badass than Sophia.
ReplyDeleteTrust, me Sophia wil be history by the end of Linchpin. She'll just go away, or if we're lucky she'll get killed... ;)
You know, I never really stopped to think about their ages before. We know that Kate is 31, but probably 32 by now, seeing as she must have had a birthday given the number of months that have passed since Rise. And I don't think that Castle's age has ever been mentioned, but Nathan is 41, so Castle's got to be between 40-42. I just don't see him in his 30's at all, especially with an 18 year- old- daughter.
ReplyDeleteSo that gives us about an 8-10 year age difference between him and Kate. Wow, that kind of seems like a lot. I guess I never thought about it before, because their chemistry is smokin hot and you don't really realize that he is quite a bit older than her. Still, there is just something so hot about a mildly older man... ;)
Nathan is 40 actually
DeleteWhatever, he'll be 41 next month, then.
DeleteI really don't like Sophia. I mean she was so annoying, but what's worse was castles behavior. I mean Sophia doesn't know Kate, so she doesn't care about Kate's feelings, but I was so disappointed with castles behavior. If he can't see how much his actions hurt Kate, then he doesn't know a thing about her. He didn't correct her assumption of Sophia being his girlfriend. He sort of lied to her in the car, he willingly accepted the assignment without consulting his partner, he acted like Kate wasn't even in the room, he was all over Sophia it was sick. And then in the elevator she actually gets the courage to pour her heart out and what does he do or say. Nothing. I mean he has got to know what all this would have done to her, and he has got to know how hard it would have been for her to even take the first step and ask about Sophia. But he acted like he didn't owe her an explanation. In a way yeah, that's his past, and they aren't a couple so technically he doesn't owe her an explanation. But for a man who says he is in love with her and is well aware of her insecurities, he has got to put his pride aside, and make amends. Of I were Beckett I would not have just taken him back after that lame you're my partner line. I don't know I just had this sick feeling watching the episode, and I realized that's because I felt awful for Kate, and that only made me hate castle for doing that to her. If he really wants Kate, then he has to step up, walls or no walls, he has to show her he still feels the same, because my take away from the episode is that he certainly doesn't feel the same. The look he had when he even came to the precint was one of guilt, not that he actually wanted to be there with Kate. He has to make it clear that Kate is what he wants, and start pushing her a little. He knows she is scared, but he also knows she listens to him, he admitted to that himself in Rise when he was telling Martha he can hold her off from her mothers murder.
ReplyDeleteOmg I think people should juz stop talking about how castle and Beckett should get together......if any of you guys have watched chuck you'll know that once a show gets it's 2 main characters together there is nothing to look forward to each week and it becomes boring so people stop watching it and we all know what happens next......so instead of mopping about the whole castle and Beckett getting together thing I think we should all juz enjoy the show and look forward to what AWM has in store for us each week......oh and AWM is not an idiot so I think we should juz trust him on this......
ReplyDeletei disagree, watch Friday night light, last 3 seasons of smallville, you can have characters together and not lose sparks, you just need good writing, and don't take your audience for idiots (side eying you dear bones and house)
DeleteYea, Chuck was disappointed in that aspect. I kind of lost interest when in season two Chuck hooked up with his ex-flame Jill after he and Sarah had that yearning looks down in the past (much like Castle and Beckett) because you know, as an audience, there's this unspoken words for love between them. Then all of the suddenly the writers decide to mess with the audience and had Chuck and Jill ran off together for the night, only to be found by Sarah ( who was frantically searching for him, scaring the hell out of her for his safety...ugh). And Sarah basically got a smack in the face learning that he slept with Jill. Ugh.
DeleteTo bring all of this back to Castle related, after Chuck and Sarah got together, writers were struggling to keep this couple interesting. But I think, since Marlowe seems to know his moves very well, bringing out couple together won't be the end of the show, like for Chuck. Why I still have faith? Because Castle and Beckett relationship has yet to walk into the "contrived obstacle" territory (unlike Chuck). We have yet to learn what really went on between Castle and Sofia. Wait for the story to unfold....hey, can't be that bad since the man has gave us three season of fun and awesomeness. ;)
I dont'k know anon 11:20.. I mean I was thinking of Derek and Meredith of Grey'a anatomy. They are together since the 1 season and the show is not over yet. I personally stopped watching it but I ve been told that there's still chemistry between the 2 main characters and a lot of stories to tell..
ReplyDeleteDerek and Meredith got together too early that they went on and off afterwards.
DeleteThey slept together in the pilot, unlike Castle and Beckett they were more than just professionally linked from word go.
DeleteIn regard to the getting together will result in boringness, Chris Carter (X Files creator) claimed in an interview I think it was after the series finale had aired, that he wished he had dealt with Mulder and Scully romantically sooner than he ended up doing. This is a man who regrets not exploring that arc early enough.
ReplyDeleteA lot of Philes felt robbed after watching for seven years and never getting any real answers in terms of their relationship or what went on. Yes, they ended up together (thank f***ing god) but it was rushed and never really made sense because it was dealt with at a time when it was too late to explain everything.
They should have gotten together by season six because their love for one another was more apparent than ever during that season, they even started to seem comfortable with being mistaken for a real couple.
Season seven was too gimmicky and light and it would have been soooo much more interesting and dark if they were dating during that season because it was always soooo much more intense when it came to one of them risking it all for the other.
William should have never happened. 8-9 had its merits since they actually achieved at making the show still somewhat interesting sans Mulder but let's be honest, it just wasn't the X Files anymore, was it?
As you can tell I still quite haven't gotten over it. What I'm saying is, so many creators worry about getting characters together too early. It's just as big a risk getting them together too late. I know Josh/Donna fans from The West Wing wish they had of happened waaaaaaaay earlier.
Beckett and Castle need to become something now. They need to address the issue, even if it's just lightly because right now, it almost feels as if Castle has forgotten he's in love with her and Kate's about ready to start questioning his feelings for her.
I agree 100% mainly on your last paragraph anon 04:30!
ReplyDeleteHere is my fear: AM will definitely get Castle and Beckett together BUT only at the very end of the show.. leaving fans frustrated just like in the episode of Ryan's wedding when he focused too much on the "waiting" without giving us any hint of the ceremony..
In short guys all we have to do is enjoying the journey
After watching this episode i feel sad for beckett but i am not angry with castle! After 12 years he meets sophia and of-course some unresolved issues and few memories will come out.....come on! U cannot blame the guy.. and it is Sophia who is talking to him and ignoring beckett , not him. Castle does not even know that beckett heard his i love you so for him things are as normal as ever.He even offered to answer any question about his relationship with sophia even though he did not know that beckett was insecure and jealous because she wanted to reassure herself that he still was not in love with sophia! The main point here is that all these things were happening and were misinterpreted because they both were acting and expressing their opinions without knowing very important things about one another ( like castle not knowing about beckett hearing the i love you and beckett coming to conclusions without actually knowing what kind of relationship he had with sophia ). This is just my opinion!
ReplyDeleteDid Castle ever dedicated for her a book? Or mentioned her in acknowledges? Remember what Kyra said? He dedicates his books only for people who really cares of. And we know that in Castle world caring=love.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken he dedicated a book for Kyra, and two for Kate. I bet that he dedicated books also for his mother and doughter.
His last dedication for Montgomery is understandable, Montgomery devoted his life.
Another thing that is some mistake in plot. Martha said "you wrote 22 novels before you met her" in Blue butterfly he said 27 novels... so 22 + 3 Nikki Heat books is 25. What about 2 other?
Martha's wrong. There were 21 before Nikki according to the official list on RichardCastle.net. 3 finished Nikki Books is 24, Frozen Heat is 25, and if you count Deadly Storm, that's 26.
DeleteOh Ricky, where are you hiding the 27th book? Kate and I want to know.
Martha also said he didn't need to spend every day in a police Station to finish them. Or a CIA sub basement? And if the CIA place and the bags over the head were new to him, where was he meeting her? A much less Hollywood building down in Langley?
Well, Sophia could have been stationed somewhere else. It was 12 years ago, after all.
Delete@9:29 ur right.. no mention about the other two novels.. they were wrong i guess! Castle fans know more about the show without having any inside information :p ;)
ReplyDeleteTo - 7:56 - I totally agree with you! I have the same opinions :) You wrote exactly what i was thinking!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just me, but I really thought the flirting was done by Sophia only. Castle was... I don't know... trying to find the right word... reasonably responsive. However, I don't feel like he ever went so far as flirting with her. And in a 42 min episode he tried to assure Kate THREE TIMES. Once in the car, once at the precinct ("She's not my partner, you are."), and once in the park ("I'll answer any questions you have about her.").
ReplyDeleteHas Sophia been rude to Kate... not directly, but most definetly indirectly. Just the way she excludes her, and when she does talk to her, the tone used is very... again, I can't find the right word... aloof? Perhaps Rick did get a bit carried away with the case (Hey, how long has he been hoping for a case related to the CIA?) but he definetly redeemed himself in my eyes.
Overall, I think Sophia is making the advancements, and Castle is reacting to them how any man would, while remaining loyal to Beckett. I don't see why everyone is so mad at him.
I agree, I didn't think Castle was out of line at all. I am sure he was pretty surprised to see Sophia, but I also thought most of his excitement was generated by the whole 'working on a CIA case' thing. And I thought both he and Beckett were both being much more open with each other. When her feelings were hurt, she made it clear instead of hiding everything away, and he responded by "choosing" her. He also did offer to tell her anything, and he HAD to know the only question she would ask.
DeleteNow, all that being said, I just watched the Linchpin spoilers, and it appears everything is going down the toilet.
