This Monday night Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) will tie the
knot with his longtime girlfriend Jenny O'Malley (Dever's real
life-wife, actress Julianna Dever). Fans of the hit detective series, Castle,
on ABC have long been looking forward to what is sure to be a funny,
yet romantic episode filled with none other than crime-fighting!
If you're not already a fan of this quirky take on the NYPD, now in
its fourth season, you sure need to catch up! The show stars Nathon
Fillion as Richard Castle, a best-selling mystery writer who originally
joins forces with New York's finest when a copy-cat murderer begins
mimicking his books. While shadowing the police force, Castle becomes
taken with Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), who he decides to make
his muse for his next book series 'Nikki Heat'. While Beckett is
initially unamused by having Castle join the team, an unlikely
friendship (and possible romance) develops and Castle proves to be
rather useful in solving cases. Detectives Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) and
Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas) round out Beckett's team, helping to
solve murders and often bailing Castle and Beckett out of some serious
trouble. We sat down with Seamus Dever to find out what the rest of
Season 4 has in store.
Q: One thing fans love about Castle is the banter and camaraderie between the characters on the show. Tell me a bit about this.
A: We are a lot like that in real life- playing off
each other, giving each other a hard time, making fun of each other.
It's a very classic 'locker room' mentality... or maybe junior high, but
we have fun. We know each other pretty well now going into our fourth
season so it is easier for us to joke around. We make each other laugh
and enjoy each other's personalities which is good because we often put
in really long hours filming. It doesn't make it seem so long! Plus, we
are all real friends and the cast has grown into a family. We spend
time together outside of work, we hang out, and we genuinely like each
other. It's really nice that after four seasons we still feel that way
and are doing that.

Thanks Seamus for letting us know who writes the Nikki Heat books!!! I had a feeling it was AM, those books totally have a Castle episode feel to them.
ReplyDeletehahaha ^^ :) ..i think everyone on the show is a Caskett shipper (especially Stana!!!! lol) except for Nathan! :/

Anon 8:22, He says, "Then, we are making the books into a movie on our show- a movie based on a book that was originally written on our show by our show writer".
ReplyDeleteThe original writer is Andrew Marlowe and I'm assuming he has input from the other writers for the books. It makes sense that the people writing castle are writing the books as well.
I love this show! You guys rock :) can't wait till tomorrow night!
ReplyDeleteKH,
ReplyDeleteI think what Seamus meant by them not having a "happily ever after" is that when they do get together it's not gonna be rainbows and lovey dovey stuff all the time. There will be plenty of bumps in the road and stuff to work through, considering who we're talking about here. I think there's a good chance they could be together by the end of the season. However, even if it takes longer than that for them get together for real, all their personal issues aren't going to just disappear, you know. So, there will be lots of baggage and stuff for them to muddle through when they finally dive into it. God, I cannot wait for that time!!!
He's a 'shipper and is looking forward to them getting together because he knows things will become that much more interesting when it happens. Some showrunners think people will lose interest once the romantic leads get together because, in their minds, the fun and drama is gone. Stana, Seamus, and Andrew Marlowe clearly think otherwise...and I think most true fans feel the same way.
Beckett and Castle will definitely be happy to be together but you know there are gonna be plenty of conflicts and tought spots. Of course, there will be lots of fun to be had, too. Whatever happens, it's going to be amazing when they get together!
In the end, like when the show actually does end (which I shudder to think about), we'll know that Castle and Beckett are headed off to a really happy life together.
Awwwwww, Elena, I like your happily ever after :)
ReplyDeleteKH :)
Thanks! I hope my prediction is on target. I love these two as if they were real people. It's silly, I know, but I really want to see them happy together. :)
ReplyDeleteElena... I love both your comments ! When I was reading this article I was like yay ! Seamus is a shipper... Then when i read that he hopes they never find their happily everafter i was like aaahhhhhhhh ! But your right- no relationships are perfect, even when people get married-which i would totally love to see a season of Caskett married and even get pregnant but i seriously doubt it would happen on the show :( . And when these two finally do get toghter that will still keep the show interesting because they both have their troubles, insecurities and moments when they feel like killing each other ! This is also why i strongly disagree with the theory that once they get together that show will end!
ReplyDeleteIf Marlowe is indeed the ghost writer behind the Nikki Heat books then we can rest assured that the fire between the two leads will keep burning brightly after they keep together. The man knows what he is doing, seriously.
ReplyDeleteAnd like Seamus said, couples don't get their happily ever after following marriage, just like in real life. There should be plenty of stories to be told after yet get together. Looking forward to see how the season plays out.
What if Kate wants marriage - her one and only marriage - and Castle decides he's done two already and doesn't want a third? Is there anywhere in the series when he said he was open to a third? I think it would be interesting if Kate fell pregnant before marriage...

Anon 10:09 I love the Nikki Heat books and I'm pretty sure AWM is the ghost writer. Anyway, I love the relationship between Rook and Heat. The way they are is how I imagine Castle and Beckett would be...for awhile, at least. It's clear they really care for one another...and in the 3rd book you really see how domestic they've become with one another...coming home to one another at the end of a long day, pillow talk, etc. Still, the relationship isn't easy. Heat has her issues that she is still dealing with, as does Rook. Through it all, though, they balance one another out and help each other through whatever it is they are dealing with. Whenever I'm reading the Nikki Heat books I'm always picturing Castle & Beckett. Oh, and the sex scenes are totally blush worthy...so, that doesn't hurt. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm so excited to see what transpires at Ryan's wedding tonight. We may get a Caskett dance (GASP) or some meaningful glances exchanged between them. You know Beckett is going to look absolutely stunning...I can't wait to see Castle's reaction to her. 10 hours to go for me!!!! :)
Oh, and KH, I can't see Castle ever saying no to anything Beckett wants...especially when it comes to the two of them being together forever. When discussing his earlier marriages with Kyra in "A Rose for Everafter," she asks him if he felt it was right with his first 2 wives. He gave her a thoughtful look and said, "It seemed like the right thing to do at the time." Neither of those women were truly his "one and done." He's never loved anyone like he's loved Beckett. So, don't worry too much about them when it comes to marriage. They'll get there one day. ;)
