Prepare to Be ‘'Knocked Out’' by Stana Katic's Wardrobe in 'The Blue Butterfly'

This season on Castle, noir is the new fabulous. Just ask costume designer and stylist Luke Reichle.

In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Reichle revealed his fashion choices for the upcoming noir episode, which flashes back to the 1940s.

“Nathan was built for '40s clothes, I can tell you. He looks like a gazillion dollars in these double breasted pinstripe suits with topcoats and the fedora,” says Reichle.

“It's a very powerful, powerful image. Hot. He looks really hot.”

According to the stylist, Ryan (Seamus Dever) gets to channel his inner Irishman, whereas Esposito (Jon Huertas) shows off a more Cuban flavor. But handsome as they may be, it’s the women that really wow.

“You're just going to be knocked out by the gowns for Stana [Katic], that are just phenomenal,” says Reichle. “She plays a gangster's girlfriend. And Susan [Sullivan] is sort of the wise-cracking secretary. I based her [wardrobe] on a combination of Rosalind Russell and May Barton. And Tamala [Jones] is in the episode in a very prominent way, and she looks really hot.”

  1. I can't wait to see Stana in this episode. I mean, you could dress that girl in a paper bag and she would still leave us breathless.

It must be so incredibly hard to be that gorgeous. I suppose that's her cross to bear in life. Man, am I glad I don't have that problem!!! ;) #sarcasm

Seriously, though, I bet the entire cast is going to look amazing in their '40s swag. I am excited about every single episode that we know is coming up in season 4. This show just keeps getting better and better!

  2. I know, Elena! Isn't it mindblowing how the show gets better and better and better...

I seriously have NO complaints about this show other than it's only an hour long. HaHa!

Can't wait to see this episode and how each actor is represented in their '40's personas.

  3. Right! You know, once in awhile there's a 2 hour Grey's Anatomy or Desperate Housewives...why not a 2 hour Castle? I mean, it blows those shows and pretty much all others out of the water on a weekly basis! There should DEFINITELY be a 2 hours Castle "event" one of these days.

  7. I am so excited to see Nathan in a suit. I have seen one of the three promo pictures that we have been given, and he wears the suit well. I am excited to see all the characters in this episode, and I can't help but wonder what Gates is portrayed as. Stana said in an interview that she [Stana] has lots of dresses to wear, so I am super excited to see how she looks. I think that the costume designers at the set of Castle will deserve a round of applause, especially after this episode.

To Anonymous 3:50 on Jan. 4, No. The episode after 'Dial M for Mayor' is 'Embarrassment of B****es'. Then we [unfortunately] have to wait two weeks before 'The Blue Butterfly', which is the episode in which the characters take a ride back to the past as P.I.'s, gangster molls, secretaries, etc.
