Castle Spoilers Exclusive: 'To Love and Die in L.A.' Spoilers

Just as Marisa Roffman of GMMR reported earlier, I can also confirm that Jason Beghe will be reprising his role of Mike Royce, Beckett's former partner and training officer.

Now, let's take another look at TV Guide's earlier exclusive:

After Beckett's former partner is killed, Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) will head to Los Angeles to investigate, which also gives them the opportunity to visit the set of Heat Wave.

I think we've all put two and two together at this point. I know there was plenty of speculation as soon as the words "Beckett's former partner" were printed. While I can't tell you anything more about that, I can tell you two other things you may not know:

GMMR CASTLE Scoop: Jason Beghe Returns

Well, the much teased Los Angeles-based episode of CASTLE is sure going to be jam-packed. “To Love and Die in LA” boasts an impressive guest cast featuring PRISON BREAK’s Dominic Purcell and OFF THE MAP’s Jason George. Plus, as an added bonus, fans will get to meet the NIKKI HEAT versions of Ryan and Esposito, as played by Ryan Deal and Justice Gamble.

But wait, there’s more!

ABC has confirmed to me exclusively that Jason Beghe will also be popping up in the L.A. hour. Beghe is reprising his role as Royce, Beckett’s former mentor/maybe-more-than-just-a-partner, who first appeared in season three’s “Under the Gun.”

While I can’t spoil why he’s back, Royce is involved in a very important aspect of their case.

Keck's Exclusives: 'Castle' Casts New Esposito and Ryan

When the Castle crew heads to Hollywood in May, awaiting them will be new actors in the roles of Javier Esposito and Kevin Ryan.

Chillax! Fan faves Jon Huertas (Esposito) and Seamus Dever (Ryan) are not being replaced. Rather, two new hunks will be playing their Hollywood-ized alter egos in the movie adaptation of Rick Castle's Heat Wave book.

Actor Ryan Deal — who starred in the 2007 Ghost Whisperer online spin-off, The Other Side, will be playing Raley — the alter-universe Ryan, while fresh face Justice Gamble is Ochoa, the movie's take on Esposito. Laura Prepon, who previously appeared as actress Natalie Rhodes/Nikki Heat, is not expected to reappear in this episode.

Various 'To Love and Die in L.A.' Spoilers

Castle Goes to the Movies | As revealed in my exclusive casting news about Castle’s Hollywood-based episode, the original plan was to have Laura Prepon back as actress Natalie Rhodes, now that production is underway on the Nikki Heat movie. But with Prepon busy working on a pilot, the ABC drama will forego Natalie’s encore and instead serve up movie versions of two other NYPD faves. That’s right, the springtime episode will introduce us to the actors playing the big screen “Ryan” and “Esposito.” Why do I have the feeling at least one of the choices will be cast wildly against type?

Source: TVLine

How close will the duo get in the coming months? Marlowe offers two teases: “We have an episode where Castle and Beckett go out to Los Angeles to investigate a murder that puts them closer than they’ve ever been in their relationship,” and, “We’ll really be dealing with where they are in their relationship in a serious way as we get to the end of the season.” Katic is equally vague: “I think the audience will see his feelings for her in a way they haven’t seen before.” Fillion, asked point-blank if we’ll see a second kiss, claims to be clueless: “There’s a story that Andrew has presented to me that I know we could play around with the possibility of a kiss,” he says. “So I know something is coming up where it could indeed happen. How’s that for a terrible hint?”

TVLine Exclusive: Prison Break's Dominic Purcell Joins Castle's Hollywood Murder Mystery

It promises to be lights, camera, and a lot of action when the crimesolvers of ABC’s Castle head for the (Hollywood) Hills in an episode shooting this week and set to air this spring. In fact, once Rick and Kate land in L.A., they will have Prison Break toughie Dominic Purcell with which to contend, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Though Purcell has been pursued by many yet never nailed down for a guest-starring gig ever since his run as Prison Break‘s Linc ended, Castle landed the actor for a high-stakes episode in which a murder investigation leads Castle and Beckett to Los Angeles. There, Purcell will play a Hollywood businessman who may have a connection to the killing.

Fun fact: Castle‘s West Coast road trip originally had Rick and Kate also crossing paths with actress Natalie Rhodes as she lenses the movie version of Heat Wave. But with Laura Prepon busy shooting an NBC pilot (in which she plays a younger Chelsea Handler), the “big-screen Beckett” instead will be MIA, and for a timely, Charlie Sheen-like reason: She’s in rehab.

Inside TV: Castle Jealousy

Thank you for your Nathan Fillion cover! I love Castle and am going to frame it. Now that you’re buttered up, maybe you can give us something on Castle? — Cassandra

Dealing with bloody crime scenes, you’d think Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) were used to seeing red, but that’s far from the case when the mystery writer notices his writing mentor catching his partner’s eye in an upcoming episode titled “The Dead Pool.” “Beckett thinks [Castle's friend] is funny, and Castle suffers a bit of muse jealousy,” teases executive producer Laurie Zaks. “[Castle] sets out to set him straight."

Mega Buzz: 'Castle' Jealousy

I love that Brendan Hines is going to stir up jealousy on Castle. What else can you tell me? — Monica

ADAM:
While Castle is plenty peeved by the easy rapport his protégé establishes with Beckett, his remedy is to kill the young pup with kindness. And what better way to do that than to invite him to a mystery writers' poker night? Of course, after the cards are dealt, real-life novelists Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane make it embarrassingly clear that Hines' character still has plenty to learn before he can truly throw in his chips with the big boys.

Ask Ausiello: Temptation in LA?

Question: My Mondays these past few weeks have been rough. There hasn’t been a new episode of Castle. I would feel better if you could give me some juicy Espisito/Lanie info. —Madeline

Ausiello:
Not only is there a new episode this Monday, it promises to serve you up a most amusing moment in which Esposito becomes smitten with a soap star (played by soap star Rebecca Budig) that he’s interviewing. Luckily, Ryan is quick to remind him that his girlfriend is close by.

Question: When are the writers going to stop toying with us and give us some real Castle/Beckett action? —Jade

Ausiello:
My guess: the May sweeps episode that finds the duo staring down temptation while stuck in the same hotel suite during a trip to L.A.

Inside TV: 'Castle' Soapy Goodness

The last time we saw Castle and Beckett they were disarming a bomb to save New York City from massive destruction. When we meet up with them again in the March 21 episode, “One Life to Lose,” life is considerably less intense and — dare I say – funny. Not that murder is funny, but their quest to solve a show writer’s murder on the set of fictional soap Temptation Lane certainly is — especially when we find out Beckett is a fan. And not just a casual one. She’s an educated member of the fandom (‘shippers and all!). And while the slew of soap and non-soap guest stars does wonders for the episode — David Eigenberg (Sex and the City), Rebecca Budig (All My Children), Corbin Bernsen (The Young and the Restless), Cameron Mathison (All My Children), and Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) all appear — the highlight remains the banter between Castle and Beckett. Trust me when I say, you’ll want to see the little moment that leaves Castle saying, “Katherine Beckett, I never…”

TV Guide Castle Exclusive: Lie to Me Star Sets His Sights on Beckett

What happens when a mystery writer has his muse stolen by his protégé? If the writer is the title character of ABC's Castle, the answer is simple: It gets combative.

TVGuide.com has learned exclusively that Lie to Me star Brendan Hines has been tapped to play Alex Conrad, a first-time mystery writer who owes some of his debut novel's success to a glowing review written by Castle (Nathan Fillion). When Castle invites Alex down to the precinct to play mentor, however, Alex becomes much more interested in what Beckett (Stana Katic) has to say about being a police detective.

As Castle and Beckett investigate a swimming star's murder, Castle becomes increasingly agitated by how willingly (and privately) Beckett shares information with the newbie author. But don't think the jealous Castle will go down without a fight.

The episode also guest-stars Make It or Break It's Josie Loren and Justin Bruening, the star of NBC's short-lived Knight Rider reboot. Bruening plays the victim's swimming coach, while Loren plays the victim's former girlfriend. Naturally, they both become suspects.

Besides his work as Eli Loker on Fox's Lie to Me, the 34-year-old Hines has also appeared on The Middleman and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Castle airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC. Hines' episode, titled "The Dead Pool," is slated to air sometime in April.

E! Spoiler Chat 3/14/11

sarahjones85: Anything you have on Castle would be great!

Are you a "shipper" type? Then you will love the March 21 episode of Castle. But not because Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) run off and get married or anything. While Castle and Beckett are investigating the death of a soap opera writer, there are tons of conversations on how crazy "shippers" can be and how invested fans are with their favorite TV relationships. It's hilarious, unless you are as crazy as the "shipper" in the episode is. In which case…seek help.

fannie13: News about Castle please!

Next week's episode will have one of the most dramatic and theatric arrests ever made on the show. But stay tuned in after the handcuffs are snapped on, because Castle and Beckett have a sweet little moment that will surely leave you smiling.

TVLine Exclusive - A Nod to the Late Stephen J. Cannell Is In the Cards on 'Castle'

Castle — and Castle — soon will pay regard to Stephen J. Cannell, the late novelist, prolific TV producer and sometime guest star, TVLine has learned.

In the April 11th episode of the ABC series, Castle and his poker pals — Michael Connelly, in his third appearance, and first-timer Dennis Lehane (Gone, Baby, Gone) — will make reference to Cannell’s passing as they gather for a night of cards.

The man who brought us such series as The A-Team, 21 Jump Street and Wiseguy, Cannell died from complications associated with melanoma in September 2010, at age 69. He made his third and what would be final cameo on Castle last May.

Ask the Addict - Have we seen the last of Josh?

Any chance we’ve seen the last of Josh on CASTLE? — Dave

The TV Addict:
Having just had the opportunity to screen CASTLE’s not-to-be-missed love letter to daytime entitled “One Life to Lose,” we’ve got some bad news for you. The only disappointing aspect of what is hands down the most entertaining episode of the season was Josh’s seemingly inexplicable ability to ruin what should have been yet another beautiful Castle/Beckett moment. Seriously. This guy could not have worse timing if he tried.
