  6. I thought it was very fun. I wish they focused both more on Caskett in the house and Esplanie and Ryan/Jenny's date! I always feel like they can elaborate heaps more when it comes to all of the relationships!

  7. I liked it! Fun, campy, a little creepy. :) Overall a very good time!

SO bummed about Lanie and Esposito, I hope they work it out down the road. They're cute. Maybe Ryan's wedding can bring them back together.

I love the twists they come up with in these cases. It almost always turns out to be someone you don't give a second thought to, which is awesome. The cases are almost as much fun as the relationships between the characters. I will say I was glad to not see the captain in this one. Just thinking of how she would have reacted to Castle's theories is enough to dampen the fun.

Really looking forward to next week. Beckett's face when she steps out of the ambulance is PRICELESS. :)

  8. Loved how Ryan asked to go off with Castle.... That's a look. Just walk away. Awesome!

  9. What I was thinking:
The teenage line, I have a feeling it still applies.
I really liked the remixed Castle theme.
    He drank BOTH coffees!
The BOARD SWIVELS LIKE THAT? Since when?
Memories again? This was done in season 2 Halloween. Paper route... Cause that doesn't make them creepy
Haha typical Martha decorate it and it'll be okay. Home visit! Just sat it... I ain't 'fraid of no ghost.
Her story was payback from when he pulled the little boy beach story on her.
Awkward marriage talk, Ryans face is priceless.
Girlie scream, girlie scream! I love when he does that.
The girls are just working those death states today.
No... They're taking a break? Man...
Both guys. Uhuh. Married. Still. To each other. Oh.
Detective Smith didn't see that one coming. Don't point a gun at her you creep!
Old wiring Drafty house. Paranormally impaired, I like that. Rigged! Beckett rigged that for sure, she smirked the whole way through it.
Castle & Beckett. Strong enough to begin with.

  10. Best part... Castle, I said my legs (as we hear him slapping her butt)!!! hehehe : )

    ReplyDelete
  11. my favorite line was "don't say ghost." "Okay... Apparition-American". LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh god that butt moment was so good!! Beckett jumped like 10 feet up when he touched her...

and also Ryan's Espo's and Lanie's face when Jenny asked them ... so PRICELESS

  13. Interesting look on Beckett's face when that lawyer was regaling the night his former girlfriend was married. She too recalls the details of the night she and her dad were informed of Johann's murder.

I think just about every episode has some subtle reference to that murder.

  14. It was a good episode but it didn't seem that great. Despite the nerd-gasm when I heard Stana say "I ain't afraid of no ghost" followed by the ghostbusters theme. Not really the best episode for Stana or Nathan they were good and the episode was nice it just failed to meet the standard set by some of the other episodes this season. All and all it was about as good as 403(head case) without the Caskett conversation at the end.

I enjoyed Alexis this episode, she wasn't a drag and Molly looked great. The way they edited the Double date was cute.

Castle grabbing Beckett had a lot less impact than I was hoping for. I would have liked to see a little more awkwardness around that scene felt too sibling-y to me.(I'll be watching the west coast feed to confirm this) In fact, the whole episode did, it was like Kate was the big sister who missed her playmate when Castle went with Ryan.

Ah more Scooby-Doo references in Castle. so far they have Castle is Scooby, Ryan is Shaggy, and Beckett is Daphne (not said in this episode but in S02E19 Wrapped up in Death)

  15. Does anyone else think it's hilarious that Beckett totally doesn't know how to use the espresso machine because she never uses it because Castle always makes her coffee for her? :) Love it!
    Good episode tonight!

  16. another great episode! though i do agree that castle grabbing beckett has a lot less impact and that kate was simply missing her playmate. omgggg i can't wait till next week! then she'll definitely why that she loves castle <3

  17. Nice episode, though I expected more based on the hype. Haha yeah I agree the lifting up thing felt more like siblings to me too...I love the show but I really hope the chemistry and tension doesn't die just like it did in bones. After the 5th season of bones, I stopped watching because booth and bones acted too comfortable like siblings. So I hope AM knows how to stay away from that.

Loved becketts hair here, the braid made her look Grecian...very exotic and nice. It was a nice funny episode, I suppose that's good before next weeks a little more serious one.

I'm sure Lanie and Esposito will work it out, but that scene was awkward...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought the episode was great...liked castle and becketts banter, liked Beckett and esposito laughing at castles theories...cute.

As much as I love these episodes, my favorites are still those that emphasize the castle Beckett relationship a little more.

Next weeks episode has a lot of hype, lets see if it lives up to expectations, especially in the castle and Beckett front.

  19. Well, with the West Coast airing of castle complete and in reference to my earlier post @9:15 I can say the following with confidence.

Castle grabbing Beckett did feel lacking and sibling-like, what happened to the mild awkwardness between Castle and Beckett. I hope they fix that before we get a psudo-Bones situation on our hands.

Note: I'm only referencing Bones since I can't think of another example that is as well-known; if you have one I'd love to hear it, seriously!

  20. Off subject, but who thinks the perfect time to get Caskett together would be in a follow-up ep where they host the fundraiser for The Joanna Beckett Scholarship? Just had that random thought and had to share. I'm compulsive like that. Sowwy.

  21. I gotta say I loved Beckett's hair in a braid. Sorta reminded me of Natalie Portman for some reason.

  22. 12:24 have you seen Your Highness?
I also agree with you @anon 9:15, teenage Alexis would've whined and moaned about the situation, like in 3x01, but she did the opposite and was fairly mature about it. If she continues down this path With some responsibilityI think it's going to be a good thing.

  23. All in all I was a little disappointed too. I thought her calm reaction to the "neck rub" was a little off also, since when does he EVER touch her...

The whole episode felt a little disconnected to me, like we were missing content.

Am soooooo looking forward to next week though!

Maybe I should watch it again when I am not so tired:)

  24. @anon 1:37
your highness was one of the coolest movies i have ever seen
i absolutely fell in love with natalie after seeing it

did you like it as well???

  25. I have problem with this new season. Im not sure but for me something is gone. So far only superhero episode (4x02) was nice rest are just flat and uncharacter. I have feelimgs that writers have problem how to handle Beckett character, Castle jokes arent funny anymore, and noticed that some scenes are wasted potential. Alexis and her problems repeated over and over again are going to really boring. And now comparing 2x06 to 4x06 I must say that 2x06 was a lot better episode. Remember halloween party in Castle loft?

  26. Oh and one more thing, why the hell they are using this "darkening" filter, now they are using this in each episode and everything looking too dark! Whats all about? Because weather or what? I know that LA were they filming is sunny and NY not really but this "thing" is driving me nuts.

  27. Anon 9:22pm October 24 - - OMG, you noticed that too? I didn't think think that there was ever an episode where Beckett actually made a coffee easily(or at all) hahaha.... maybe Castle can teach her how.. hahaha

Anon 4:25am octeber 25 - - Maybe the writers are making the characters a little more mature, i mean, its not like the previous seasons where everything they do is the first time. They've all been together for 3 years now and I think that they grow not only as individuals but also as a group. Episodes are more realistic and life-like, its comedic but first and foremost a drama show. About the Alexis thing, maybe AM is just showing us that she isn't that perfect after all. I mean, she's a teenager, even though before she seemed like the mature self-confident daughter, she could also be irresponsible sometimes, also to show the fatherly side of Castle wherein it doesn't mean that he should be funky all the time.. Lastly, the 2x06 and 4x06 comparison?? hmmm... I think in 2x06 Beckett and Castle weren't as good friends as they are now. I think they've grown closer through the year....

anyway, that's just what I think... Hope you guys appreciate it... Just so happy to find people interested in Castle too :) :) :)

  28. thought that the episode was great and the banter between castle and beckett was great.I think that the writers did a really good job with this episode. Has to be one of my favourite episodes so far this season. Cant wait for next weeks episode looks awsome

  29. Okay rant to follow. Fair warning.
KATE GOT SHOT CASTLE DROPPED THE I LOVE YOU. What do you expect rainbows?! Apart from this heaviness. Of course its dark. It's symbolic, the theme is secrets. The characters and being kept in the dark. TPTB are paid to be artistic.

Also people grow and change. Speaking from an older teenager point of view, if Alexis dent get this newfound fire, I would've started to feel bored with her character. Things are not the same as season 2 or 3, the writers won't repeat Themselves. Move on, just as the show is doing.

Pheewww I'm sorry I'm done. This week was another good episode but I think we're all waiting on next weeks.

  30. I wasn't crazy about this week's episode. I admit I watched it very late (after 11 pm EST) so maybe I was just too tired, but it fell flat for me - the writing and entire plot felt very sophomoric. Maybe it was meant to be "Scooby-Doo"-ish (thus the reference to Ryan as Shaggy) but for me it didn't really work. There were some cute moments admittedly, mostly, I think, when Ryan and Castle were so into the possibility of the killer being a ghost, but that's about it. Castle and Beckett seem to have gotten to the point they're comfortable being side by side and letting go of the elephant in the room - the potential advance of their relationship. That doesn't really trouble me at this point in the game.

Super disappointed in the scene with the double-date. Lanie's reaction to Jenny's question seemed "off" in its timing and the scene was so short! Maybe I should stop reading spoilers, LOL. I've been waiting for this date scene since it was spoiled last season and it amounted to pretty much nothing. And this brief reference to Lanie and Esposito breaking up?? We haven't even seen (or even heard much of) their relationship and suddenly they're on the rocks. Seems kinda cheap in the writing dept. I think fans are too smart - and invested - for this kind of thing.

Although I am enjoying this season there are moments when I agree with @anon 4:25. Occasionally the character interactions or one-liners seem to have lost their spark (has anyone noticed it between Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever?). Interactions seem forced, not easy, natural, believable. I'm not super concerned, but sometimes I wonder what's going on.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK. I like it. The way Castle convicted Kate to go to the house...LOL. Ryan and Castle also works as a team. They are closer since Ryan centric episode I think. Beckett's whispering...you got me too Kate:) No Gates, fantastic!!! When all boys plotting the story and Beckett just observed, classy...let the boys talk nonsense and act after they stop...that is woman's wisdom. Alexis...simply 100%, nothing to say. Ryan on double date with wine glass:-)))))

I will make more comments about this epp...I just need to remember all the stuff I liked.

Funniest epi so far for me, even cooler than Superhero epi.

  32. I think this was the first episode I actually enjoyed this season. I liked seeing Castle and Beckett do their thing together, without interference from the others. It was reminiscent of seasons past.

That said, I thought the Lanie/Esposito break-up was just about the stupidest thing ever. So someone asks when you're getting married when you're nowhere near that point... Do you: a) laugh it off and say, "We're not there yet." or b) have a big fight and break up? Sorry, but I just don't understand the reasoning behind that one. If you're that wrapped up in how other people see your relationship, perhaps it was never very strong in the first place.

It looks like the writers for this season are the same writers that have been giving us great episodes all along. So I'm not sure what's going on, and why things just haven't been clicking. This was the best episode of Season 4 so far (IMO), and I think it was because they actually allowed Castle and Beckett to work alone together. They've been dancing around that issue and keeping them separate by putting them in a group setting since the beginning of the season, and it's getting old.

@anon 5:17 - I agree. The darkness of the episodes this season has been driving me nuts. I don't have a huge TV, so a lot of the scenes tend to look like dark blobs. As I said after last week's episode, I don't know how they get any work done in that precinct without a flashlight!

    ReplyDelete
  33. For me, the episode was good, but it was my least favorite so far. A very clear 'filler' episode from the huge episode last week, and what is sure to be an emotional one next week.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was expecting more, but I liked it :) I think I should stop inventing scenarios so I'm not disappointed after.
    2 favorite scenes:
The "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" scene
Castle talking to Alexis about strong relationships

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't like the darkness either...its very hard to see the scene. Its very xfiles-ish...and I think some of the people who worked on that show are now working on castle. I still don't like it though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree that there is something that is just not right. More moments with Castle and Beckett alone would certainly help. I guess I would say that the show is stagnating a bit and not really moving forward. Hopefully Andrew Marlowe will see these posts and get the hint.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah I also felt this one was filler and didn't live up to expectations. I liked it, but the way they made it sound (locked in a haunted house) seemed way more interesting than what we actually saw. Were they even locked? The light when out, and they found the hidden alcove and then managed to make it out fine. Lol.

Liked the twist, didn't see the killer coming! Though something did feel off about him. He reminded me a lot of Royce? haha.

Okay episode overall. Next week looks better though.

  38. Ok. I think the best is yet to come ..... we all want to see Castle and Beckett closest ......
    Prevents this episode was funny!

  39. To Anon@7.44am - I totally agree. Not only Seamus & Jon but Stana and Nathan as well. Writing is still good however deliver is rushed or glossed over. (examples for me were Stana - "I know, annoying man" in heroes & villans & "nice, smartass" in kick the ballistics and Nathan - "don't look so happy about it" in head case)

Maybe it has to do with the differnt show dynamic (gates, the ILY, the shooting) and is deliberate, it is just taking some of the fun out of it for me.

For all above who mentioned the darkness, I agree that it may be deliberate (again) however it bugs me as well. It is very annoying watching online.

Also agree with the filler comments, and I think I also need to stop watching the sneak peeks and getting my hopes up.

All in all, I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either, and hope next week lives up to all the hype:)

After all that (sorry for the rambling, just nice to know it is not just me noticing these things) - Still my favourite show!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have to agree with several things. The darkening filter or whatever it is makes every episode too dark and hard to see. It is like Castle and Beckett have become strangers - no playful comradere/coy chasing any more. I too think that character development opportunities have been missed and that the character interaction flow from episode to episode is not consistant and seems choppy sometimes. I love ths show and am a bit dissapointed. I really think the excellent writers could certainly have them acknowledge a relationship and solve the murder and grow their relationship together. (think Nick and Nora from the Thin Man movies) What happened to the Bar the Castle bought? That would be a great location for the JB scholarship Fund Bash suggested earlier. One more thing (:-) I want to see Palo (the jewel thief from the body in the safe episode) be Castle's father. Great plot and character development possibilities there! I do not mean this as critisim - this is a wonderful show and my favorite! Thank you all - Castle crew, actors, producers, writers and ABC!! Please renew!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I enjoyed this weeks episode actually more than last weeks episode. Not my favourite this season but an enjoyable episode non the less :o) I think Castle and Beckett have great chemistry and can def see the relationship is developing and I'm glad they appear relaxed around each other again so quickly. Can't wait for next week the sneak peek is awesome!! :o) Kaz

    ReplyDelete
  42. About Lanie and Esposito, the reason they fought and broke up is because they discussed the 'getting married' thing later, and realized they wanted different things out of their relationship.
A calm discussion progressed into a big fight. That is a pretty viable reason for breaking up, I think?
Also, I think it's nice that they're more relaxed around each other. It's called character development! It comes with the territory. You can't keep the main characters awkward with each other for 6 seasons, that would just be boring.
