For "Castle" fans, Monday's (Sept. 19) premiere is possibly the series' most-anticipated episode yet.
Season 4 picks up with Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) clinging to life after her cliffhanger shooting, and though we won't say exactly what happens to her character, Zap2it did recently speak with the actress on the show's set. (Read into that what you will, spoiler-phobes.)
So what did Katic think of her character's near-death experience? "I loved it," she says. "I thought by reaching for higher stakes, by reaching for deeper truths, we were challenging the show to become an even bigger and better version of itself... I thought it was a great way to go."
With Kate juggling even more baggage than before, and still on the hunt for her mother's killer, it's also clear to Katic what it will take for her and Castle (Nathan Fillion) to finally get together.
"Beckett's always known that she's been in love with him," Katic says of the series' big will-they/won't-they relationship. "I think she is going to become extremely aware of the fact that until she is able to lay this burden, this baggage, to rest, she's not going to be able to fairly engage in any relationship... That's her biggest secret, I think, this year. Before she dives in with him, she has to close that chapter and make sure she's whole and available to a real relationship."

Wow she does such great interveiws!!!!! She is very well spoken and u can tell she cares about the show and quality of it. She gives fun but intelligent answers, unlike her co star does at times.

ReplyDeleteMan she's awesome. She's such a sweetheart. So down to earth and friendly. She's a talented and gorgeous human being who's also a real person. Rare. & totally agree with you Lorie, she does give enjoyable but respectable responses in interviews as opposed to some of the things Nathan has replied with in the past.
ReplyDeleteYou can tell Stana has an excellent understanding of her character. You can see she's really thought about her characters motivations in order to play the role. Gonna be a fab season guys :)
ReplyDeleteI really love watching Stana and listening to watch she has to say when she gives interviews. It's so obvious that she is deeply invested in Kate Beckett and really understanding the character, her nuances, and her motivations. I really credit Stana Katic for making Kate Beckett into the engaging, sympathetic, and all-around dynamic character that she is. Her responses to questions are always thoughtful and intelligent. I love how she doesn't just read the script and spout the lines written for her (ingeniously, I might add) by Andew Marlows and Co. She does the legwork to really delve into Beckett's psyche and pull out what she needs to make the story meaningful and moving. There are certain episodes of Castle that I have watched repeatedly because I am mesmerized not just by her performance with dialogue but even more so by the subtle actions and facial expressions Stana injects into her performance. She is able to convey so much to the audience without saying a word. I love that about Stana as an actress and it makes me adore Kate Beckett all the more. So many of us fans really appreciate the hard work and careful thought Stana Katic clearly pours into her performance week after week. It comes through in her interviews and most certainly in every scene she delivers. Someone give this woman an Emmy!
