8. Castle has more than woman trouble: The NYPD isn't too pleased that Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) took off for the summer with his ex-wife. "The entire NYPD is acting like a jilted girlfriend," says Fillion. "He comes back to find out that he's broken up with the NYPD. He hasn't called, he hasn't written, he hasn't emailed or texted. They're all pretty upset with him. He really didn't know that was going to happen."

Ask Ausiello: 3 New Questions
Question: I’m sure you’re sick of Castle/Beckett-related questions, but it has to be asked: Is there any good news on the horizon for them? —Darla
Ausiello: There is good news: Series creator Andrew W. Marlowe confirms that they will hook up—eventually. “There will come a time in the series when [a relationship] will be worth exploring,” he says. “But I don’t think the characters are ready to go to that level now. We still have a lot of storytelling—a lot of near misses—left to explore and play with. In many ways, Beckett is still a mystery to Castle. She has other things going on in her life that she’s very cautious about exposing to him because she feels that he’s not ready. I think the fun of the series is watching them do that dance. And the dance can continue evolving to the point where they can be in a relationship. I just don’t think they’re ready for that right now.” That’s sorta good news, right?!
Question: Got any Castle scoop for us? —Jennifer
Ausiello: There’s a somewhat significant death in the second episode. I’m also hearing something about Castle revealing his REAL name.
Question: Thanks for the scoop about Monet Mazur (Gina) returning in Castle‘s fifth episode. Can you tell us anything else about the episode? What brings her back? —Heather
Ausiello: Per Marlowe, “Castle has to attend a charity event that Gina’s throwing that’s honoring her. Of course, Martha’s take on it is that it’s very narcissistic, but we find out later on that she’s doing it for all the noble reasons. The theme of the episode is the things we do for love.”

Mega Buzz: Beckett's New Boyfriend
Why is Beckett getting another boyfriend on Castle? Can't she and Castle get together already? — Melinda
ADAM: "If you don't create obstacles, the flirtation will lead to something much sooner than the audience wants," creator Andrew Marlowe tells us. But he promises the roadblocks, including Castle's reunion with his ex-wife, aren't just there for the sake of keeping the characters apart. "Part of our metaphor in the early stretch of the season is that these two people, who many feel belong together, 'married' the wrong people," Marlowe says. "So, we're rooting for them to wake up and find each other again."

Ask Ausiello: More Season 3 Tidbits
Question: Please tell me some good Castle scoop about Castle and Beckett. —Ilaira
Ausiello: This is probably more bad than good, but Monet Mazur is confirmed to reprise her role as Castle’s ex Gina in this season’s fifth episode.
Question: I need a Castle scoop that’s not about Castle and Beckett. Can you tell us anything about Alexis’ new boyfriend, aside from the fact that he is on The Secret Life of the American Teenager? —Katie
Ausiello: Can I let exec producer Andrew W. Marlowe tell you instead? I’m starting to drag a little as I near the end of this week’s column. “Ultimately, it is an Alexis/Castle story,” says the boss of Alexis’ first real romance. “What we’re doing this year is challenging Castle as a father. It’s inevitable that Alexis is going to grow up, and he’s been encouraging her to test boundaries. And when she does, it will be interesting to see his reaction to that. I think there will be some fatherly pride in her testing boundaries, but he’ll also respond as a typical father.”

New Love Interest For Alexis
KEN BAUMANN JOINS CAST OF ABC'S "CASTLE" IN A RECURRING ROLE
Actor Ken Baumann ("The Secret Life of the American Teenager") will join ABC's "Castle" in a recurring role, playing the first boyfriend for Alexis Castle (Molly Quinn). In his first episode, "Punked," Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is dealing with the fact Alexis is excited about having her first boyfriend, but he's unnerved that she's not confiding in him with all the details. "Castle" will premiere Monday, September 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET).
On the series last season, Castle and Beckett's (Stana Katic) relationship grew stronger as they dodged bullets, captured killers and solved countless murder cases in their unorthodox partnership. But by the Season Two finale, Beckett's new relationship with a Robbery detective had pushed Castle away, forcing them both to confront their feelings. When Castle left to finish writing his second Nikki Heat novel, "Naked Heat," Beckett had to watch him walk away, unable to express her true feelings and unsure whether he would return to the precinct.
The series stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as Detective Kate Beckett, Ruben Santiago-Hudson as NYPD Captain Roy Montgomery, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, with Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers.
"Castle" is produced by ABC Studios. Andrew Marlowe is creator/executive producer, with Rob Bowman, Laurie Zaks and David Amann also executive producers.

Ausiello Casting News
'Castle' Exclusive: Victor Webster cast as Beckett's 'mysterious' new boyfriend
Castle has found a new plaything for its queen.
Victor Webster—the genetically-blessed alum of Melrose Place 2.0, Charmed, and Mutant X—is joining the ABC hit as Beckett’s (Stana Katic) new love interest.
Webster’s character, Josh Davidson, first appears in this season’s fourth episode when he drops by the precinct to visit Beckett. Unlike Bec’s last two boyfriends, played by Bailey Chase and Michael Trucco, Webster’s Josh is not in law enforcement—a fact that’s not lost on Castle.
“There’s an element of mystery to him,” explains exec producer Andrew Marlowe. “He’s more of a motorcycle guy…A person that is going to intrigue Castle, because he’s going to see a different side of Beckett.”
Webster will appear on a recurring basis throughout the season.
In other Castle news, Marlowe confirms that the show’s youngest star, Molly Quinn, is also getting a love interest in the form of Secret Life of the American Teenager‘s Ken Baumann.
“This is her first serious boyfriend,” notes Marlowe. “This is the first time Castle has had to deal with his daughter being in a relationship.”
Castle‘s third season premieres Sept. 20.

Ask Ausiello: Biker Boyfriend for Beckett?
Question: What else do we know about Beckett’s new love interest on Castle? —Jonathan
Ausiello: I don’t know what else we know, but I know he’ll be a biker. I also know he won’t be in every episode. “I think [viewers] need to know that Castle and Beckett are in other relationships, but they don’t necessarily need to see those people all the time,” says exec producer Andrew Marlowe. “And then they’ll show up from time-to-time to remind the audiences that they’re in relationships.”

Ask Ausiello: Season 3 Scoop (3x4)
Question: Scoop on Castle, please. Are Castle and Beckett getting together anytime soon? —Maggie
Ausiello: You obviously missed my interview with Nathan Fillion at Comic-Con, during which he revealed that Castle and Beckett would spend much of the season married—in the figurative sense—to other people. Exec producer Andrew Marlowe both corroborated and expanded on that scoop when we caught up with him at press tour. "We will be introducing a boyfriend for Beckett in episode 4 ("Punked")," he revealed. "It's someone new and surprising." Castle, meanwhile, will still be going strong with his ex—although fellow EP Rob Bowman concedes "he would prefer to be with Beckett. He acted as a gentleman should last year. She said she was with somebody else and he stepped back. But I don't think he spent his summer where he preferred to spend it. I think he wants to be back with her. We also know we like to have fun with the boy/girl chase and that as soon as he lets on any intention that he's interested, you know she's going to punish him. And that's why we watch the show."
