Will Castle's Explosive Cliff-Hanger Create Sparks for Castle and Beckett?

Castle (Nathan Fillion) watched an explosion destroy Detective Beckett's apartment in last week's Castle cliff-hanger, but could that disaster further kindle the flames between Castle and his crime-fighting muse?

Castle: Can Beckett survive a serial killer and an FBI nemesis?

That's assuming, creator and executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe coyly tells TVGuide.com, that Beckett (Stana Katic) is still alive. Marlowe hints that the conclusion to the two-part event puts Special Agent Jordan Shaw (guest star Dana Delany) in her own share of trouble.

"Everyone has to redouble their efforts in order to make sure everyone stays alive," Marlowe says. "The case certainly does take a turn, and there are complications. Jordan Shaw is in the thick of it and by virtue of redoubling her effort to go after the serial killer, she becomes a target herself."

As for Beckett — duh, yes, she survives — her homelessness arrives at the exact time that Castle's mother (Susan Sullivan) moves out. So, for now, she ends up at Castle's apartment — strictly out of necessity.

Queen of Castle, Stana Katic, reveals Beckett's softer side

"When you've gone through a harrowing experience, you generally have a little more trust in the people close to you, the ones who've had your back," Marlowe says. "That being said, I don't think it's ultimately going to change the nature of the Beckett-Castle relationship."

Besides, Marlowe says, that relationship has already seen plenty of growth this season. "We're very cognizant that the Beckett-Castle relationship is really the bread and butter of the show," Marlowe says. "We've accessed Beckett through Castle, and at the beginning of the relationship, Beckett was very cautious. Over the last season and a half, we've watched Beckett slowly let down her guard. She's opened up more to him, which means she's opened up more to the audience. I think that it's safe to say that we will continue see the various facets of her life as we go forward."

Beckett will even begin looking at her home life after living with Castle and observing Shaw, who is still able to have a family despite being the type of driven cop that Beckett is.

"Those are the questions that Becket's character wrestles with," Marlowe says. "She devotes so much of her time and energy to her career that there are times in her life when she feels like she's being short-changed. She looks at Castle and sees his balance of family life and that he can go home to a family. I think there's a bit of emptiness in her life he fills right now in an odd way, but as time goes on, she as a person is going to be looking for more."

And more she will find: Marlowe confirms that Beckett will have a love interest (Battlestar Galactica'sMichael Trucco) in Season 2's final four episodes. "We feel that Beckett and Castle have gotten a little too comfortable and sometimes the best way to shake things up is have somebody come in and present a challenge," Marlowe says.

And how will Castle react? "I think he might learn some stuff about himself, which will be neat," Katic says. Marlowe adds: "It will be fun to see Castle rise to the occasion."

The conclusion to Castle's two-part event airs Monday at 10/9c on ABC.

Episode Names

2x21 - Den of Thieves
2x22 - Food to Die For
2x23 - 'Overkill' (working title)
2x24 - TBA. (finale)

2x20 - The Late Shaft - "Exclusive: 'Nip/Tuck' vet Kelly Carlson storms 'Castle'" by Michael Ausiello

The plot of Castle’s upcoming ripped-from-the-late-night headlines episode thickens: Ex-Nip/Tuck star Kelly Carlson has been cast in the episode as a love interest for Nathan Fillion’s titular sleuth.

Carlson’s character, an actress by the name of Ellie Rose, meets Castle on the set of a late-night talk show hosted by the Leno-esque Bobby Mann (guest star Tom Bergeron). The two hit it off (and then some), prompting a jealous Beckett to suspect that the starlet is only interested in Castle because she covets a role in the forthcoming movie version of his book, Heat Wave.

As I previously reported, the camptastic episode — not-so-loosely inspired by NBC’s recent Jay/Conan ruckus — revolves around the murder of Bergeron’s character. In addition to the Dancing with the Stars emcee, the guest cast boasts Bill Bellamy (playing Conan to Bergeron’s Leno), Fred Willard (as Bergeron’s sidekick), French Stewart (as a Pellicano-esque investigator), and — this just in — Dan Cortese (as the network president tasked with managing the scandal).

2x19 - Wrapped Up in Death Summary

Press Release:

CASTLE – "Wrapped Up in Death" – The investigation into the shocking death of a museum curator, crushed by a falling gargoyle, takes a bizarre turn when Castle and Beckett learn that he isn't the first member of a recent archeological expedition to die. It turns out there was a legend inscribed over the burial chamber the team unearthed warning that "all who gaze upon the face of the mummy are doomed." Was the curator just the latest victim of "The Mummy's Curse"? And if so, what does that mean for Castle, who snuck a peek at the mummy when no one was looking?

& Special Guest Star:

Numb3rs star Navi Rawat has been tapped for a guest-starring role on ABC's Castle, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Rawat will trade in her math textbooks to play Rachel Walters, a mummification expert who crosses paths with Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion) when the Natural History Museum's assistant curator, Will Medina, is found murdered. Rachel informs the team that Will might have been cursed because he disturbed ancient Mayan tombs to create the museum's newest exhibit.
Rachel, who could be a suspect in the murder, also catches Castle nosing through some coffins in the museum, prompting Becket to tease Castle about the curse. Castle refuses to believe her until he suffers his own near-death experience.

Mega Buzz: Scoop on Lost, House, Glee, and More!

They didn't really kill Beckett on Castle, did they? — Eva
ADAM: Yep, she's a goner. Also: Unicorns are real, and I have some lovely property for sale in Florida. Kidding aside: Beckett will not only survive that cliff-hanger explosion, but she will also bunk at Castle's pad now that his mother has decided to move out. "I definitely think they're going to be seeing a lot more of each other than they ever thought they would," Stana Katic tells us. Anyone else predicting some pantsless, "Oops-I-didn't-know-you-were-home" moments?

Dana Delany on Nathan Fillion, 'Castle' and her 'Desperate Housewives' exit

Chances are if you've tuned into ABC recently, you've seen a good deal of Dana Delany.

Not only is Delany a regular on "Desperate Housewives",
but she is the special guest star of the much hyped two-episode "Castle" event, which kicks off Monday (March 22). And, as if that isn't enough, she's also headlining the new ABC pilot"Body of Evidence."

Korbi TV scored some time with Delany to talk about "Castle," "Housewives," her friendship with Nathan Fillion and her new show...

You're ABC's MVP at the moment, they have you everywhere!
Dana Delany: [laughs] I know! It's kind of funny. It all sort of happened by accident.

Was ABC the one who sought you out for "Castle" or was it Nathan?
DD: I sort of blame Nathan for the whole thing. He got the [the ball] rolling because he called me in December and said, 'There's this two-part character coming up and would you consider doing it?' And I said, 'I think I already have a job, don't I?' And then the next thing I heard, ABC thought it was a good idea, so I said 'okay.' So I was shooting both "Castle" and "Housewives" at the same time -- while I was fighting the flu. That was not easy. And then what I think happened was ABC saw the "Castle" dailies and thought, well, maybe Dana would be good for this pilot? So Nathan was the instigator of everything.

If "Body of Evidence" goes to series, you're going to need to buy him something pretty.
DD: Definitely. We'll definitely need a night out together to celebrate.

But first, we need to celebrate your appearances on "Castle." Had you seen the show before Nathan called about the guest arc?
DD: Yeah, I knew what it was. I watch Nathan in anything he does. And also, I'm a big fan of mystery books, so I like the whole thing they've got going there.

Your character, FBI Agent Shaw, comes into the mix in a big way. She doesn't exactly make friends with most of the NYPD, namely Beckett, who is used to being the strong woman in a very male-dominated environment. Was it fun to play the Beckett/Shaw tension?
DD: The FBI has sort of a history of not being liked. [Laughs] They have to come in and take over and so I think Shaw is used to having to open the door, cause some problems and she doesn't really care. She's just trying to do her job. And maybe she gets a little bit of an amusement out of it.

There seems to be something between Castle and Agent Shaw. He's fascinated with her, but what's her take on him?
DD:
I think she finds him amusing. If there's any chemistry there, it's just the natural chemistry between me and Nathan! [Laughs] I don't think it was really written in. I think he likes her for her [FBI] technology more than anything else.

There is definitely natural chemistry between you two. How was it working together for the third time?
DD:
I just love him. He's just a really decent human being. As I tell him, he was very well brought up. His parents should be proud. And also, whenever I see him, he always teaches me something new, technically. He's a real tech geek himself. He's the one that convinced me to get my first iPhone and when I was there, he introduced me to two new apps I'd never heard of, which were "Dragon Search" and "Dragon Dictation."

That's hilarious. Are you enjoying them?
DD:
I am! They kind of do it all! I'm kind of in love with my iPhone at the moment. My favorite thing, I've been playing this game called "Words With Friends" and I've got about ten games going on right now. I'm in Providence, Rhode Island shooting this new pilot and I'm playing with the crew on "Housewives," so I feel like I'm still in touch with them.

What can you tease for the second part of your arc on "Castle"?
DD:
You gotta watch the first episode closely, because there's clues in the first episode as to what happens in the next episode... everything is not as it seems.

Perhaps someone isn't as good as they at first appear to be?
DD:
Um, yes. That's true, actually. Yes, there's a hidden element to it.

Someone's hiding a secret.
DD:
Yeah. And in life, no one is all good.

Would you be willing to come back to "Castle"?
DD:
I'm open to anything. I'm so very blessed right now that I have so much going on in the ABC family, and that's what I love about TV, it happens so quickly that you can be on one show one minute and on another show the next. Between "Castle" and "Housewives" and my pilot, I feel really lucky. If any of them go, that would be great, and if not, I'll figure something else out.

We do have to talk about "Desperate Housewives" because as we saw on Sunday, Katherine and Robin have left Wisteria Lane.
DD:
Yes, Robin and Katherine are in gay Paris now! Yay! What I think happened was that ["DH" creator] Marc Cherry -- who is very facile and clever -- the minute he heard that I was going to be doing this pilot, he said, that's fine, we'll just send you off to Paris, and if the show gets picked up, good for you, and if it doesn't, we can bring you back. So everything is sort of up in the air.

So you won't be making any more appearances on "Desperate Housewives" this season?
DD:
I don't know. I'll be done [filming the pilot] in two weeks and we'll see what happens.

If this is the last viewers saw of Katherine, are you happy with how you left her?
DD:
Yeah, I personally find that to be kind of a delightful surprise. I think that Marc thought that Katherine would experiment and then realize you don't find happiness outside yourself, you really need to find it within yourself. But I think that the odd-couple nature of Katherine and Robin turned out to be delightful, at least for me. I really enjoyed working with Julie [Benz (Robin)] and there is something sweet about the straightness of Katherine and the kookiness of Robin.

They did have a great push-pull relationship.
DD:
I really enjoyed it, and it's funny, I just noticed by accident, when I was on "China Beach," I think I did about 60 episodes, and I'm hitting the 60 mark on "Housewives." So maybe that's my warranty! I'm only on for 60 and then I'm out!

What do you think? Hoping to see Delany back on "Desperate"?

Are you excited for her on-screen reunion with Nathan Fillion?

Glad she's getting a good shot at her own vehicle?
